Amateur forever? Oh yeah! “Amateur Hour” celebrates 15 years of Frank Music - still running on pure DIY energy, with Johannes Albert happily admitting he’s got no master plan, just a deep feel for House Music. And somehow, nearly 80 releases later, that instinct still hits. Volume I digs into the archives: forgotten cuts, long out of print, quietly becoming cult favorites. David Jackson’s “Broken Heart” returns to wax, alongside J.A.’s own “Giovanni Frizzante" if Italo is still your thing.
Flip it over and it gets deeper: Shan reworks “Wing House” into something massive, while Max Lessig closes things out with the understated, timeless glow of “Jupiter Hymn”.
Let's be frank. Once again.

After the first casual meeting at Lessinia Psych Fest 2014 (Maxigross festival in the Lessini Mountains) Miles managed to come back in Italy during spring 2015 to work with the band. In march 2015 they went together in the studio house of the band in the small mountain village of Vaggimal (Verona) to improvise and record one month straight, interrupting the sessions only for a few shows between Verona and Roma. They put few microphones around a big room in the house to catch the general sound in a Daniel Lanois’s style, and they played in the dark of the night without any light to forget the individual sound of each member, focusing only on the main sound of the Music. Miles brought from LA some recordings he made with drummer Joe Westerlund (Megafaun, Califone…) and, starting from that material, they begin to play on that. After these magical musical encounter they became close friends, sharing an house in Verona (Casa Tega), many albums, shows and life experiences, forgetting about these Vaggimal Sessions, that bring inside of itself the magic and the purity of any first meeting. These naked recordings are the only witness of this session.

Gabon, 1980’s. President Omar Bongo has been in power since 1967. Together with his wife, the infamous singer Patience Dabany, he invents one of the ultimate political propaganda machine: ‘animation groups’, massive female choirs and dancers, up to 60 women deep, singing the praise of his regime over some of the best soukous rhythms ever, broadcasted live on TV.
Between 1982 and 1989, mainly thanks to the flourishing oil economy, a record-label is created, a state-of-the-art recording studio is set up, and the best Gabonese and Congolese musicians are recruited. Dozens of vinyls are pressed and sold with huge success all over the country.
The Bongo family has reigned continuously over Gabon until the 2023 coup d’état.

wunderschönen Klavierstücken (DNA I), Kooperationen mit
anderen Produzenten (Robot Koch, Andrew Applepie, AK
Charakter.
Neben Stimulus enthält Frequency die Stimmen von
James Chatburn (AUS), Graham Candy (NZ), Rezar
(AUT), SHAMS (GE) und Mario (GE). Jeder der 11 Songs
ist eine Geschichte von zwei Frequenzen, die
aufeinandertreffen, sich gegenseitig beeinflussen,
kollidieren und eine neue Welle erschaffen.

Steering his dance label, Frank Music, all the way through the last decade, Johannes Albert would like to welcome a bunch of new and old friends for its 10 years anniversary. Berlin’s Amount steers the ship into contemporary disco waters with his „Dphrase". All hands on deck please! The Captain Of Your Heart is more than a good friend. He is the boss from Zürichsee actually. We „L.ove“ his Synth Pop all the way. Darmstadt’s finest Levitation Venue are back with the calm yet groovy „Everything’s Good“. Now we set sail for the flipside. High waves and a storm comes up on the floor when Johannes drops his „Dynamo“. A very 90s informed rave affair! Sir Iron Curtis takes over the realm and shows a little respect for classic Electro. We travel to „Münster West“. The sea calms again with the bittersweet symphony of Max Lessig’s „Make me cry“. We reach safe havens. To the next 10!
