Detroit sisters The Jones Girls were a hugely popular part of Philadelphia's PIR stable throughout the 1970's and 80's.
They cut numerous sides for the label aided by the incredible production and arrangements of the infamous Gamble and Huff hit machine.
'Night over Egypt' is surely one of their most enduring, evergreen tracks. As popular today with people as it was on it's 1981 release.
A record that truly transcended genre boundaries and touched people from all walks of life and of all taste persuasions, it is a true soul classic. Often imitated yet never bettered! It's no wonder the 12" has always been sought after, sometimes commanding collectors prices on the used vinyl marketplace. The flipside 'Love don't ever say goodbye' is a sultry, Dexter Wansell produced slow-jam that ticks all the right boxes! One for the lovers out there, pure quiet storm business.

Two of Jean Carn's seminal hits combined. 'Was That All It Was' is a big hitting disco exploration with hints of Jean's gospel choir background coming to the fore. The flip houses the classic 'Don't Let It Go To Your Head' - covered on many an occasion since it's release back in '78.

Two huge Teddy Pendergrass disco anthems from the Philly International vaults get an official reissue destined to light up dancefloors once again.

'You Can't Hide From Yourself' and 'The More I Get, the More I Want' are certified classics that have traversed the years sounding as heavy as they did when they first dropped in '77.

Two incredible 70's soul cuts from The O'Jays get the reissue treatment for 2018. The A side contains the mighty 'For The Love Of Money', a near 7 minute cautionary tale to the dangers of greed and exploitation. "For the love of money. People will lie, Lord, they will cheat. For the love of money. People don't care who they hurt or beat." As pertinent now as it was in the 70's if not more so considering current affairs. A much sampled record, loved by many! On the flip 'Darlin' Darlin' Baby (Sweet, Tender, Love)', the second hit single off the O'Jay's album 'Message In The Music', is a romantic soul serenade with that killer Gamble and Huff production - Philly's finest!

'Here We Go Again' is a definitive, feel-good disco stomper combining a full frontal bassline, infectious keys and staccato guitar licks that effortlessly build and build throughout the track. Cries of 'Here We Go Again' ring out at it's peak epitomising the feeling that this groove could last forever.

Keeping up that perpetual good time groove the B side houses the mighty 'Jam, Jam, Jam (All Night Long)'. A track doused in the funk, from the rugged vocals to the addictive hooks, it'll worm it's way into your head for weeks.

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes were one of the most popular groups on Gamble & Huff's Philadelphia International label, clocking up a number of hits in the mid 70's.This release featuring two of their recordings, typify the cream of Philadelphia International and Sigma Sound studios dominance of the mid 1970s dance-floor at the absolute height of their creativity and power. "Bad Luck" spent an unprecedented 11 weeks on the No.1 slot on Billboard's U.S. Dance chart in 1975 and has since become one of the biggest dance-floor staples ever recorded.
On the flip we have the original full version of the classic "Don't Leave Me This Way".Both songs are mixed to perfection by Tom Moulton and both are state-of-the-art lessons in what exhilarating Dance Music is all about.
Fully remastered on limited edition 180 gram heavyweight vinyl.

Yet another highly in-demand 12" from the Philadelphia International stable and an artist who's records never go out of date! This is a killer double-sided beauty with the frenetic and jazzy "Life On Mars" from his debut 1976 album on the top-side and the mellow all-time classic and soul boy anthem "The Sweetest Pain" from 1979 on the flip.

Two very different sides of a great artist, both of which show the level of diversity that he was capable of producing. The last legitimate release of this was back 1999 and a Mint copy will currently set you back circa £50, if you can ever find one. Word of warning: there are some U.S. bootlegs from 2008 that still appear to be in circulation and which are easy to spot since they use the U.S. silver P.I.R. label.

(The Sound Of Philadelphia)" aka the official Soul Train theme, using Tom Moulton's full original 5.42 mix.
