Josh da Costa's "New Wave Graveyard" ist ein Solo-Debüt, das die Vielfalt der Underground-Musik feiert und sich dabei eine eigene Nische schafft. Über fünf Jahre entstand "New Wave Graveyard", das weit mehr als nur das im Titel erwähnte Genre der späten 70er/frühen 80er Jahre umfasst - von Flying-Nun-Compilations über den Glam-Rock von Sparks und Japan, Art-Pop von Prince und Yoko Ono bis hin zu Power-Pop, Electro, Britpop und Shoegaze - allesamt aus da Costas umfangreicher Plattensammlung. "New Wave Graveyard" mag zwar vom Genre der 70er und 80er Jahre inspiriert sein, das dem Album seinen Namen gibt, doch ist die/der New Wave nur eine(r) von vielen musikalischen Einflüssen von Josh da Costa. Das Album ist ein wunderschöner Mix aus Stilen und Ideen, von Glam bis Shoegaze, allesamt geprägt von Joshs vielseitigem Geschmack. Mit geistreichen Texten und einer Fülle eingängiger Songs ist es ein mitreißendes Statement eines vielversprechenden neuen Künstlers, ein komplettes Soloalbum, für das da Costa alle Songs und Texte selbst geschrieben, nahezu alle Instrumente gespielt und das Album selbst gemischt hat. Gemastert wurde es von Heba Kadry (Björk, Panda Bear, Blood Orange), das Albumcover stammt von Robert Beatty (dem legendären Künstler hinter den Plattencovern von Tame Impala, The Weeknd, Mdou Moctar, Oneohtrix Point Never und vielen mehr). Die klassische schwarze Vinyl-LP enthält ein farbiges Booklet mit den Songtexten.

"Monkey Mind" ist das neue Album des französisch-amerikanischen Duos Pearl & The Oysters, produziert von Jonathan Rado (Foxygen, Weyes Blood, Miley Cyrus, Father John Misty, The Lemon Twigs). Obwohl es vordergründig fröhlich und leicht wirkt, entstand das Album nach den verheerenden Waldbränden in Los Angeles im Jahr 2025 und Trumps zweiter Amtseinführung. Der Titel "Monkey Mind" ist dem buddhistischen Konzept eines ruhelosen, sich wiederholenden Bewusstseins entlehnt - das Duo nutzte seine eigenen "unruhigen Gedanken", um das Album innerhalb weniger Wochen zu schreiben und seine Sorgen durch Musik zu verarbeiten. Das Album markiert eine Abkehr vom leicht kitschigen Weltraum-Sound von Planet Pearl hin zu einem wärmeren, organischeren Klang, der vom Softrock der 70er Jahre (Todd Rundgren, The Beach Boys, Steely Dan) beeinflusst ist und Anklänge an City Pop und Exotica aufweist. Nachdem P&TO jahrelang ihre eigenen komplexen, im Homeoffice aufgenommenen Klangwelten erschaffen hatten, arbeiteten sie nun mit Produzent, Solokünstler und Foxygen Jonathan Rado zusammen und nahmen direkt auf Band mit minimalen Overdubs auf. Dabei kooperierten sie mit ihren Musikerfreunden aus Los Angeles. Das Ergebnis ist lockerer und stärker im Hier und Jetzt verankert als alles, was sie zuvor gemacht haben. But few know Eric André as a bona fide musician who attended the prestigious Berklee School of Music, where he specialized in standing bass.
BLARF brings his disruptive energy to a new body of work that is both an extended comedic bit and entirely, unironically serious: Film Scores For Films That Don’t Exist. Inspired by composers like Ennio Morricone and Vangelis, whose signature sound is as iconic as the films they soundtracked, Eric enlisted a full orchestra to bring his compositions to life, recording in Los Angeles and Budapest.

Odisea is the new album, actually the real debut from Los Retros, out in April on Stones Throw. It draws inspiration from 1980s Japanese City Pop, and marks a new creative chapter from Mauri Tapia shaped by growth, reflection, and renewed purpose. It's been a journey since Tapia first captured hearts with the lo-fi magic of "Someone To Spend Time With", recorded at the age of 17 on a humble four-track in his parents' living room. Now 25, the Oxnard native has stepped into an entirely new season of life - he married his high school sweetheart, became a father to two daughters, and embraced spiritual faith. Earlier this year, he revisited his start with Early Days (2016-2019), a compilation of unreleased music from Mauri's teen years. "Jazz fusion has become my favorite genre and greatest inspiration of all time," Mauri says. "I made this album for the version of me that first fell in love with music. It's my full-circle moment - a sonic hat tip to my beginnings - as well as a nod to the forefathers of jazz fusion and city pop for leaving us with great music." Through it all, he's kept the same DIY spirit, writing and recording every note himself, only now in a home studio of his own. On Odisea, Tapia blends neon-lit City Pop with the melodic sensibility of Latin American soft rock. Early Days (2016-2019) is a new collection of previously unreleased songs from Mauri Tapia a.k.a Los Retros. From a young age, Tapia has been a prolific songwriter, spending his teenage years writing and recording song after song. Influenced by soft rock and left-field South American pop, Early Days (2016-2019) captures the sound of this formative era Streaming everywhere today, Early Days consisting of 15 tracks, recorded from Mauri's parents' living room using nothing more than an old four-track recorder, that only existed in low quality online, now mastered, sequenced, and physically released for the first time. It was during these sessions that Los Retros created the song "Someone to Spend Time With", now certified Gold. Oriki Duuru ist ein Solojazzpianoalbum, das in einem einzigen Take im 2220 Arts + Archives in Los Angeles aufgenommen wurde. Das Konzert im 2220 Arts + Archives wurde von der Jazz-Archivarin Harmony Holiday kuratiert, die auch die Liner Notes für dieses Album verfasste. Eine Stunde lang improvisierte das Jazz-Wundertalent ein Solo-Piano-Set, in dem er nahtlos Eigenkompositionen, Improvisationen und seine Rekonstruktionen von Jazz-Standards miteinander verknüpfte. Oriki Duuru, was auf Yoruba „Klaviergedichte” bedeutet, ist eine ungekürzte Aufzeichnung dessen, was sich an diesem Abend ereignete.

Der in Brasilien geborene und in Los Angeles lebende Gabriel da Rosa ist ein Bossa Nova- und Samba-Künstler, der der traditionellen brasilianischen Musik seinen eigenen Stempel aufdrückt. 'Cacofonia', sein zweites Album, zelebriert sein brasilianisches Erbe mit einem L.A.-Touch.

Nach der Veröffentlichung seines Debütalbums 'É o que a casa oferece' im Jahr 2023 kehrte Gabriel zum ersten Mal seit acht Jahren in den Süden Brasiliens zurück, wo er aufgewachsen war. Bei seiner Rückkehr nach Los Angeles schwor er sich, „nie wieder so lange von meinen Leuten und meinen Wurzeln getrennt zu sein“.

Sein neues Album ist den Erinnerungen an seine Heimat und seine Lieben gewidmet und feiert die Menschen und Traditionen Brasiliens vor einem farbenfrohen musikalischen Hintergrund.

Campus Christy is a collaboration between Stones Throw Records’ founder Chris Manak aka Peanut Butter Wolf (vocals) and Brian Ellis (instruments).

Nearly 25 years after his 1999 release of ‘My Vinyl Weighs a Ton’, Manak has formed a brand new musical project, reinterpreting lesser-known tracks from the late 1960s to early 1980s. Campus Christy revives Manak’s high school garage band moniker, a niche ode to the past. Campus Christy marks a new direction for Manak, who for decades has been closely associated with underground hip-hop. ‘Very Complex’ features Piya Malik of Say She She, and ‘Candles’ also features Say She She.

Zum 50sten Jubiläum (genau genommen 51sten) des 1973 erschienenen Solo-Debüts von Haruomi Hosono - dem Kultalbum 'Hosono House' - haben sich auf dieser Compilation verschiedenste Künstler versammelt, um mit ihren eigenen Neuinterpretationen einem Werk Tribut zu zollen, dessen Wirkung und Einfluss weit über Japan hinausreicht und auch heute noch spürbar ist. So nannte u.a. Harry Styles es als eine der Hauptinspirationsquellen für sein Grammy-gekröntes Album 'Harry's House'.
Bekanntheit erreichte Haruomi Hosono auch mit dem Elektropop-Trio Yellow Magic Orchestra, dem auch Yukihiro Takahashi und Ryuichi Sakamoto angehörten.
Die Compilation wurde von Josh Bonati gemastert, das Vinyl für ein besseres Hörerlebnis mit 45rpm geschnitten.
Auch für das Artwork ließ man sich durch das Original inspirieren von Tomoo Gokita.

Young-Girl Forever' ist das neue, schillernde Elektropop-Album der in Wien lebenden Künstlerin Sofie Royer. Es folgt auf ihr Debütalbum 'Cult Survivor' von 2020 und 'Harlequin' von 2022.

Das Album zeichnet ein kühnes Porträt davon, wie es ist, heute eine Künstlerin zu sein - inmitten der Fallen des Kapitalismus, der existenziellen Unsicherheit und des ständigen Gefühls, mit Gleichaltrigen nicht im gleichen Takt zu sein.

Royer entlehnt den Begriff 'Young-Girl' aus den Preliminary Materials on the Theory of a Young Girl, die ursprünglich in der französischen anarchistischen Zeitschrift Tiqqun veröffentlicht wurden. Darin wird das Young-Girl als Symbol für den Konsumismus der Moderne dargestellt.

'Young-Girl Forever' schwankt zwischen Optimismus und Verzweiflung - es feiert das junge Mädchen und tadelt gleichzeitig die Kultur, die es hervorgebracht hat, und drückt so den Wunsch nach wahrer Befreiung aus.

Benny Sings, the Amsterdam-based singer, songwriter and producer, blends together influences from AOR, soul, jazz and pop. Known for his distinctive vocal and piano chops, he put his own spin on Drake's "Passionfruit" to mark his signing with Stones Throw.

Since 2003, Benny Sings has been releasing his own music and collaborating with artists including Anderson .Paak, Mndsgn, GoldLink, and Mayer Hawthorne. He was featured on Rex Orange County's 2017 hit "Loving Is Easy" and had a breakout performance on NPR's Tiny Desk series. He says of the “Passionfruit” cover: “Pop music has always been a goal of mine and I liked the idea of presenting this song in a more old-fashioned or conventional way."

Maylee Todd is a multidisciplinary artist working in songwriting, production, performance art, dance, 3-D projection mapping and curation. ‘Maloo’ is her Stones Throw debut.

She has shared the stage with Janelle Monae, Lee Fields, Aloe Blacc, Little Dragon and more.

‘Maloo’ is a visionary record inspired by ideas from science fiction, futurism and psychology.

Maylee Todd’s debut album ‘Maloo’ is a concept record revolving around a fictional world where empathy, mental health and creativity are the core elements for survival.

The album's themes will be bolstered by additional video content created by Maylee herself, including a VR video, original music videos, animated videos, a graphic novel origin story for socials and
NFT platforms, and digital fashion designed and modelled by Maylee.

Maylee recently collaborated with Eric Andre on his audiovisual NFT piece and guested on Tim Heidecker’s Office Hours podcast.

‘Primordial Waters’ is Jamael Dean’s debut album on Stones Throw, following ‘Black Space Tapes’ (2019) and ‘Oblivion’ (2020).

‘Primordial Waters’ sees the prodigiously talented young musician take his explorations in jazz and hip-hop to new heights. Inspired by Orisha stories and Jamael’s Los Angeles roots, the album is heavily infused with Yoruba spirituality and celestial themes. Several of the
tracks interpolate traditional Yoruba songs and feature vocals from frequent collaborator Sharada Shashidhar.


The album was mixed by Leaving Records’ Zeroh and mastered by Grammy Award-winning audio engineer and Low End Theory founder Daddy Kev.

Jamael performed on Kamasi Washington’s 2018 album ‘Heaven and Earth’ and has toured with Thundercat,

Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and Carlos Niño. Extensive touring is planned for 2021 and 2022, including a residency at LA’s Gold Diggers, a double headline bill with Mndsgn at the Jazz Cafe, and several European jazz festivals and club shows in November 2021.

John Carroll Kirby brings his talents as a composer
and producer to film scoring. His vivid imagination,
dreamy compositions and knack for storytelling with
instrumental music make for a perfect match with
comic book writer, artist and filmmaker Dash Shaw’s
vibrant, fantastical animated feature.
 Kirby’s score is at once deeply evocative and
mysterious, evoking nostalgia, wide-eyed innocence,
and ethereal otherworldliness. As with all of Kirby’s
music, the score resists easy genre classification,
melding together sounds from new age, exotica, library
music and the sweeter side of electronic music.
 ‘Cryptozoo: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’
features the voice of Kacy Hill.

 ‘Cryptozoo’ won the NEXT Innovator Award at
Sundance, premiered internationally at the 2021
Berlinale, and was bought by Magnolia Pictures.
 The film is currently streaming on MUBI UK and
Ireland as a MUBI Release and will be on the platform
for several months.
 ‘Cryptozoo: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ is
Kirby’s latest album following the release of his
electronic-jazz album ‘Septet’ in June 2021. He will be
touring the UK and Europe in March 2022.

‘U.S. Velvet’ is the debut release from the LAbased duo of the same name, made up of Zahara
Jaime and Collin Davis.
 Their debut single is a raw, post-punk mission
statement about the anxieties of living in the 21st
Century.
 The 12” single includes an instrumental version
(exclusive to the 12”) and a dub version by ATOsigned artist, Pachyman.
 Collin is currently an engineer and producer at
Stones Throw Studios in Los Angeles and Zahara
is a touring musician with The Simps and
Eyedress. Zahara and Collin both create solo
music as Zzzahara and Ynes Mon respectively.
 The duo will release a video to accompany their
‘U.S. Velvet’ single, which features a cameo from
Stones Throw’s founder Peanut Butter Wolf’s alter
ego, Folerio.

time in which it was written and recorded,

Teeth Agency is the audio/visual project of London
based multi-instrumentalist and producer Jesse

After a 7-year hiatus, funk legend Steve Arrington returns with his uplifting and soulful new album ‘Down To The Lowest Terms: The Soul Sessions’, with artists including Mndsgn, Knxwledge and Jerry Paper on production. The album portrays his diversity of influences, which sees Arrington drawing on funk, soul, jazz, electronic and R&B.

‘Galdre Visions’ is Leaving Records supergroup Galdre Visions’s debut release. Inspired by Celtic mysticism, outer space and New Age both classical and modern, ‘Galdre Visions’ is a document of the exploratory, healing power of music.
Galdre Visions are comprised of Olive Ardizoni (Green-House), South Asian-American sitarist Ami Dang, Diva Dompé of Yialmelic Frequencies and harpist Nailah Hunter. These four artists were drawn together during the pandemic to remotely create collaborative music reflecting global uncertainty.
‘Galdre Visions’ is a reflective, ambient journey with airy vocal harmonies and layers of field recordings, harps and slow-burning ambient chords.
The record is housed in a tip-on jacket with microtene inner sleeves and played at 45 RPM.

Rejoicer is a Tel Aviv-based musician making cosmic jazz-tinged electronica. 'Rejoicer' has collaborated with Mndsgn, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins, as well as being a member of the band Buttering Trio and running the Raw Tapes label.

Several tracks on ‘Spiritual Sleaze’ include vocals, with featured guests including iogi, KerenDun, Nitai Hershkovits, Jenny Penkin and Sam Wilkes. Key tracks from the album have had videos made by visual collaborator Jengo, who will also tour with Rejoicer to perform their live A/V show in 2020.

I've always wanted to make music that is healing, comforting, and funky. I named the album Jardín hoping for it to create a space for healing when people put it on. A garden is full of life, growth and beauty,' Gabriel said of choosing that unifying image as the title for his new album. It makes me think of green and white and all the colors as they appear in different flowers.' My Vinyl Weighs a Ton is the first solo album by American hip hop producer and disc jockey Peanut Butter Wolf. It was released in 1999 on his own label, Stones Throw Records, in conjunction with Copasetik Records.

Originating in a New York apartment and completed in a garage in suburban Sydney, Jonti's new album Tokorats is out on Stones Throw Records on 3rd November 2017. Following on from 2012 releases Twirligig and Sine & Moon, Tokorats is a psychedelic, harmony-rich dream-hop journey. Recording for the album began in 2013, and four years and up to 100 versions of each song later, Jonti is finally ready to invite you into his Tokorats universe.

DJ Harrison is Richmond VA-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Devonne Harris.

The son of a radio DJ who introduced him to the world of record collecting, Harris grew up with music, progressing from violin, to high school drum-line, to the Jazz Studies program at Virginia Commonwealth University. He also continued working with other instruments and developed an interest in sampling. His development as a producer - at first, without a computer or sampler - came first learning to replay samples on the drums, piano, bass or guitar.

DJ Harrison finds himself inspired by local musicians in the Richmond scene that's as diverse and nonexclusive as they come. Among rappers, producers, punks and bluegrass bands, he falls within reach of an expansive pool of musicians to collaborate with. He lives and works in Jellowstone, a house turned recording compound occupied by his band mates in Butcher Brown, a 'garage punk jazz funk' group.
