Melanie Baker komponiert Musik über alles, was schmerzt, und alles, was sich gut anfühlt. Rasmus Littauer (School Of X), Musiker hinter gefeierten Releases und Kollabos mit Liss, Trentemøller, Mø und Deb Never, veröffentlicht seine neue LP "Seventh Heaven". Da der verworfene Erstentwurf nach einer Wiederholung früherer Werke klang, erweiterte Rasmus das Team und gab die Produktion in fremde Hände. So wurden die Songs mit neuer Band und dem Produzenten Søren Buhl Lassen (Lucky Lo, Brimheim) aufgenommen, was Raum für Rasmus schuf, sich auf Musik und Songwriting zu konzentrieren, während die Band School Of X' intensive Live-Energie und vielschichtige Musik in eine dynamische Performance kanalisierte, die energetische Ausbrüche mit zarten, intimen Momenten ausbalanciert. Die LP ist per Sticker versiegelt und nicht cellophaniert.

Brimheim ist die Band der dänisch-färöischen Musikerin Helena Heinesen Rebensdorff und RATKING der Nachfolger ihres Debütalbums CAN'T HATE MYSELF, das als eines der besten dänischen Alben 2022 zahlreiche Musikpreise gewann und Brinheim Festivalauftritte von The Great Escape (UK) über Eurosonic (NL) bis Reeperbahn (DE) einbrachte. Der Indie-Pop von Brimheim verschmelzt organische und elektronische Elemente, vermischt Genres und Stile und hat ein Gespür für Melodien, während Helena mit bewegendem Gesang und meisterhafter Darbietung den dunklen Ecken ihrer Texte zarte Schönheit verleiht.

Auf ihrem neuen Album vereint Lucky Lo Menschen durch Musik, indem sie Licht auf die dunkle Seite der Existenz wirft und Traumata in Triumph verwandelt. Mit ihren aufrichtigen und farbenfrohen Alternative-Pop-Songs bewegt sich die Musik der schwedischen Künstlerin im Bereich organischer und handgespielter Klänge ihrer Band und gelegentlicher Anspielungen auf größere Pop-Produktionen. The Big Feel dreht sich thematisch um große Lieben, tiefe Sorgen, berauschende Freuden und Reflexionen über aktuelle Bewegungen wie Klimawandel, sexuelle Freiheit und psychische Gesundheit. Die Musik lädt alle, Jung und Alt, dazu ein, ein kollektives Gefühl der Zugehörigkeit und Gemeinschaft zu entwickeln. CD und LP enthalten zwei exklusive Bonustracks.

“So much has happened since last year.” After the release of his 2020 debut album Armlock, School of X was hurtled into a new life. Having spent most of the past ten years touring and working on music non-stop, SXSW was cancelled just as he was about to make his first trip to the states under his own name and this life was suddenly put on hold for Rasmus Littauer, the man behind the School of X moniker.

While School of X’s self-produced indie-pop has always been revealing and reflective, “these sudden changes thrust me deep into my emotions.” Littauer took off to his childhood home in the countryside to write, capturing these swelling emotions and reflecting on his childhood. And then there was the news of a little one on the way, bringing his thoughts to his soon-to-be son. “I was facing a lot of


things from my life that I want to do differently for him.” Did he want him to grow up in the city or the countryside? What did he want to teach him about politics? Sexuality?

The result is School of X’s sophomore album, to be released in ‘21 via Tambourhinoceros. “It’s about trying to find the meaning in things. Juggling with the different parts of life that make it a full life. Asking why do I do what I do?” Following his ‘20 debut album Armlock, his ‘19 EP Destiny and his ‘17 EP Faded. Dream, School of X’s new album will be a more varied display of styles and emotions. “It makes it easier to create if there are no boundaries,” says Littauer.

Few Danish bands have been so far around the block at such a young age as Communions.

In 2014, while still in highschool and still shaking dust from the rafters of Mayhem — Copenhagen’s famed underground venue — Communions released their debut EP Cobblestones. The release marked the beginning of a long and productive streak for the band,


who followed it up with the 2015 Communions EP, the 2017 album Blue, a string of self-released singles and an EP, Flesh and Gore, Dream and Vapor, in 2019. Now Communions have joined Tambourhinoceros with a new, reshaped constellation.

Communions’ Rehof brothers — Martin (vocals and guitar) and Mads (Bass) — have decided to continue at the helm of the band after the departure of their long-time bandmates Jacob van Deurs Formann and Frederik Lind Köppen (although the two still feature in the forthcoming Communions recordings). Letting their brotherly musical connection take center stage, the Rehof brothers have assembled a new five piece constellation around themselves going forwards, adding even more depth to their indie rock.

Communions’s early work drew inspiration from the underground scene’s punk cynicism, evidenced by their lofi debut EP which was recorded — with amps blaring — straight onto a USB microphone. Communions’ next two EPs and debut album saw the band refine their craft of songwriting and production while riding a wave of international attention and festival performances. Their forthcoming music now represents another shift in the Communions aesthetic. Marked by sharp cultural criticism, self reflection, and artistic commentary of a grand scale, Communions’ new music takes the signature indie rock from the dark clubs of their youth and merges it with full-fleshed cerebral critique and symbolism.
