Entering into the portal once again, The Black Lodge releases its 9th offering, this time a full EP from Russian hardware wizard LVRIN. 6 tracks of dark psychedelic electronics traversing through Jakbeat, Techno, Industrial and Krautrock sonics - guaranteed to take the dance floor to the beyond!

Next up on the Humanoid series is a debut release from an extremely talented new producer hailing from Newcastle, UK. Mas has delivered 3 tracks of raw machine music with depth and precision, sure to establish him as a force to be reckoned with on the electronic music scene.

MINCKA existiert in dem kreativen Prozess, der sich daraus entwickelt: ein Dialog zwischen Struktur und Chaos. Entstanden als Idee zwischen einem Schlagzeuger und einem Produzenten, lädt MINCKA heute Produzentinnen, Musikerinnen und Kreative gleichermaßen dazu ein, dem Projekt immer neue Formen zu geben - als etwas, das sich stetig weiterentwickelt.Alles beginnt als Skizze: ein Fragment oder eine Kadenz, die scheinbar ins Leere führt - bis das Live-Schlagzeug übernimmt und der Groove die Richtung vorgibt. Mal festgezurrt in unerbittlichen Beats, mal verträumt und schwer greifbar. Wie der Soundtrack zu einem Fiebertraum, mit Echos von Mo' Wax ebenso wie von International Anthem.Von dort aus öffnet sich ein Raum, in dem Musiker frei auf das reagieren, was bereits existiert. Klänge werden zerschnitten und neu zusammengesetzt, wie Filmszenen, die ihre Bedeutung erst im Schnitt erhalten. Eine passende Analogie für den Hintergrund des bosnisch-niederländischen Schlagzeugers Sergej Kreso, der zugleich ein vielfach ausgezeichneter Dokumentarfilmer ist. Gemeinsam mit dem niederländischen Produzenten Subp Yao initiierte er MINCKA. Doch eines wird durch diesen Ansatz schnell klar: MINCKA ist kein Duo.Statt einer einzelnen Vision wurden unterschiedliche Musikerinnen und Kollaborateurinnen (aus Seattle, Peking, Maastricht, Essex, Amsterdam, Heerlen und Uden) eingeladen, mit der Musik in einen Dialog zu treten. Ihre Antworten und klanglichen Abzweigungen prägten den Sound von Beginn an. Kollaboration ist das Wesen von MINCKA. Und ebenso der Kontrast: Mensch und Maschine. Organisch und elektronisch. Freie Improvisation und meticulousche Präzision. Wertschätzung für Low-End-Theorien.Es ist ein Sound im permanenten Wandel, der sich weigert, in eine Schublade gesteckt zu werden. Stattdessen tritt er die Schublade ein, zerreißt die Überreste und baut aus dem, was bleibt, eine vollkommen neue Collage.Selbst jetzt, da die Musik veröffentlicht wird, ist MINCKA nicht abgeschlossen. Der Dialog geht weiter und lädt jeden ein, MINCKA mitzugestalten, indem über der eigenen Musik Produzentinnen und Musiker*innen zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Was du hörst, war es nicht. Hailing from the birthplace of Hip-Hop, this 3-Man Crew (Natural Elements) have been a Staple in the NYC Hip-Hop scene for among those who seek authentic lyricism and organic flows given off by this amazing group. On their highly anticipated NEw album “ALIGNMENT” on the legendary Fat Beats they are continuing this tradition of sharp, thought-provoking bars and songs that their cult following (worldwide) has become accustomed to over the years. This 17 Song piece of art features robust production by their longtime original producer and founder of NE “(The Real) Charlemagne”, as well as UK producer “I.G Nexus”, Harlem producer ‘Le Grand Mohyay aka Bearfakts’ & producer ‘Real6’ on the title track. bongoville captures this energy in a story tinged with hazy techno, rusty dub and industrial trap, with juke & gqom influences. the rhythms bounce, accelerate, disintegrate, creak and eventually explode in a cloud of laughing gas.

‘Yarrow’ is a bouquet of new music by Portland, Oregon-based musician and field recordist Patricia Wolf, marking the label’s ninth release and the third of Season Two. These works are her reflections on the life cycle of plants and their dynamic ecological relationships.

Wolf created the album in response to her artist residency at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory in Gothic, Colorado, as part of the Art-Science Exchange Project in the summer of 2024. She worked closely with ecologists Dr Paul CaraDonna, Dr Amy Iler, Dr Jane Ogilvie, Dr Nickolas Waser, Dr Mary Price, and Dr Will Petry, spending weeks engaged in long-term research on plants, pollinators, and their interactions as the climate changes.

Each track on Yarrow looks at a different part of a plant’s life. The songs touch on the conditions that plants need to grow, the quiet life of roots, how flowers attract pollinators, and the strength of seeds. The first single, 'Inflorescence', the scientific name for the floral display that a plant makes in an effort to reproduce, captures this event in song. The music slowly builds layers, reflecting the album’s overall feel. The album ends with the majestic Boards of Canada-esque 'Adapted for Extreme Conditions', and the entire b-side features Patricia’s field recordings from around Gothic, Colorado, and a guided meditation by Dr Paul CaraDonna, whose research inspired the project, inviting listeners to tune into the sounds and activities of the ecosystem.

Since establishing his Stereo:type imprint, former Papa Records contributor Risk Assessment (real name Glyne Braithwaite) has released a dizzying amount of material, both digitally and on vinyl. His latest wax outing boasts four superb, tried-and-tested cuts. He gets straight to the point on opener 'Get Up', a chunky, emotive and life-affirming affair that appears to make liberal use of orchestral and vocal samples from what sounds like a luscious, maximalist Philly Soul workout of the mid 1970s, before going percussion crazy on 'Circus' (which also boasts samples from a much-loved disco record). 'I Had Enuff' is a colourful and piano-rich classic house number boasting fine vocals from Kathy Brown, while 'Man Like Mike Delgrado' is a swirling, filter-heavy chunk of swirling disco-house hedonism.

What's the point of the howl of string to speaker, the hammering of stick-on skin? Is it transcendence, elevating the human spirit by catharsis in sound? Or is it summoning chaos, a purgatory in which to bask in all that’s unclean, the better to feel alive?
Why not both? Because that’s what’s on offer on Diet Of Worms, the second Rocket release by The Shits, Leeds via Newcastle’s titans of disgust and deliverance. This is a feast for the senses in the worst way possible - primal rock boiled down to its essence and flung full in your face. Using repetition, tortured vocal invective and heads-down intensity as blunt instruments, these eight tracks are an unprecedented torrent of acidic salvation. Whilst lurking somewhere on the decadence-destruction axis between the nihilism of prime Stooges and the bloody blackout of Braimbombs, Diet Of Worms is possessed of a legitimately uncompromising hostility that both elevates and debases it to co-ordinates unknown.
There are revelations here in the riffage and the rancour, even if they are the kind that occur in the bleary miasma of the lock-in, or witnessing the streetlight blur of the subsequent stagger home. Even more single-minded and remorseless than the band’s Rocket debut ‘You’re A Mess’, this is a record that demands full immersion. Whether it’s ‘Then You’re Dead’ hammering on a pulverising garage-stinking riff until it begs for mercy, or ‘Change My Ways’, whose Creedence-In-Hell swagger and lurch is that of abjection transmuted into joy, this is psychedelia forcibly removed from its comfort zone of pastiche, and thrust into a bad-trip realm of the vivid and nightmarish.
But rarely has the process of making beauty and horror indivisible seemed like so much fun. If Werner Herzog was right, and the only harmony in the universe is that of overwhelming and collective murder, then The Shits are the true music of the spheres.
