TAURO ist das Gemeinschaftsprojekt unter der Leitung der in Toronto ansässigen Künstlerin Cynthia Tauro, das in enger kreativer Zusammenarbeit mit Brendan Canning von Broken Social Scene entstanden ist. Was als informelle Songwriting-Sessions im Wohnzimmer begann, entwickelte sich organisch zu einem fokussierten Werk, das auf Vertrauen, einer gemeinsamen musikalischen Sprache und dem bewussten Verzicht auf das Überdenken der ,nächsten Schritte" basiert. Das Projekt ist bewusst schlank gehalten, wobei Entscheidungen im Raum bleiben und die Musik den Prozess leitet. Act One verbindet emotional direkte Pop-Songwriting-Elemente mit jazzbeeinflussten Harmonien, synthgetriebenen Texturen und zurückhaltenden rhythmischen Experimenten. Beeinflusst von Künstlern wie Air, Sade, Carole King und Tracey Thorn, schaffen die Songs ein Gleichgewicht zwischen Intimität und Vorwärtsbewegung, geprägt von jüngsten persönlichen Umbrüchen und dem gemeinsamen Interesse, der natürlichen Richtung jedes Songs zu folgen, anstatt einen vorbestimmten Sound zu erzwingen. Die Produktion ist songorientiert und explorativ, sodass Textur und Arrangement intuitiv entstehen können. Mit Beiträgen von bewährten Mitwirkenden wie Thom D'Arcy, Kintaro Akiyama, Moose (Spencer Muscio) und Josh Trager verfügt das Album über eine starke kreative Herkunft, während es sich weiterhin auf Cynthias Stimme und Perspektive konzentriert. In diesem Moment begann eine eigentümliche Geschichte, die weit über die fünfjährige Existenz der Gruppe hinausreichen sollte. Dot, Betty und Helen (und gelegentlich Rachel, die vierte Schwester) spielten in der Gruppe auf Drängen ihres Vaters, Austin Wiggin Jr., der überzeugt war, dass sie groß rauskommen würden. Jahre zuvor hatte Austins Mutter ihm aus der Hand gelesen und vorausgesagt, dass ihr Sohn eine strohblonde Frau heiraten würde, dass er nach dem Tod seiner Mutter zwei Söhne bekommen würde und dass seine Töchter eine beliebte Musikgruppe gründen würden. Die ersten beiden Vorhersagen traten ein, also war Austin sicher, dass auch die dritte eintreffen würde. Mit unerschütterlichem Selbstvertrauen und der kühnen Vorhersage seiner Mutter beschloss Austin, dass seine Töchter auf den Besuch der örtlichen Highschool verzichten und stattdessen zu Hause unterrichtet werden sollten, unterbrochen von einem strengen Programm aus Instrumental- und Gesangsübungen sowie Jumping Jacks und Sit-ups. Bald darauf betraten The Shaggs die Fleetwood Recording Studios in Revere, Massachusetts, um ihr einziges Album ,Philosophy Of The World" aufzunehmen, eine Sammlung von Garage-Rock-Songs, die Charme und Dissonanz gleichermaßen in Einklang brachten. Austin gab den Großteil seiner Ersparnisse nicht nur für die Aufnahmen aus, sondern auch für die Produktionskosten, um 1.000 Exemplare des Albums zu pressen (von denen 900 nach Fertigstellung auf mysteriöse Weise verschwanden). Im gesamten Album werden einfache Wahrheiten durch die Feder von Schwester Dot, der Songwriterin der Band, offenbart. Das Album erfüllte Austins Erwartungen an den Rockstar-Ruhm nicht, doch die Gruppe blieb bis zum Tod ihres Vaters zusammen und trat regelmäßig im Rathaus von Fremont und in einem örtlichen Pflegeheim auf; weitere Alben wurden jedoch nicht veröffentlicht. Das hätte das Ende sein können, bis die Rockband NRBQ eine Kopie bei einem Radiosender in Massachusetts entdeckte und sie 1980 neu veröffentlichte. Der damalige Rezensent des Rolling Stone beschrieb es als ,die atemberaubend schrecklichste wunderbare Platte, die ich seit Ewigkeiten gehört habe". Fast 50 Jahre später zählt das Album zu den polarisierendsten LPs aller Zeiten. Manche sagten, es sei das Schlimmste, was je produziert wurde. Andere empfanden es als eines der großartigsten Langspielalben des 20. Jahrhunderts. Frank Zappa bezeichnete die Band bekanntlich als ,besser als die Beatles", während Kurt Cobain das Album auf Platz 5 seiner Liste der 50 Lieblingsalben setzte. Originalausgaben des Albums erzielen Preise von 10.000 Dollar. Jahrzehnte später könnte man argumentieren, dass Austin vielleicht die ganze Zeit recht hatte. Wir sind alle hier und immer noch fasziniert von der Reinheit der Shaggs.

Michael J. Sheehy has been making records for almost three decades, initially as founder and mouthpiece of mid-"90s cult band Dream City Film Club, then as a solo artist and frontman of rootsy garage rock act Miraculous Mule. He has toured with the likes of Kristin Hersh, Tindersticks, John Cale and Peter Murphy, while his songs have been utilised in films such as "Intimacy" and the TV show "Deadwood". Following a six-year hiatus, Sheehy has just "Don"t We Deserve Some Kind of Love?", his seventh solo album but first for Dimple Discs. "Don"t We Deserve Some Kind Of Love?" features contributions from Fiona Brice (violin), Sandy Mill (backing vocals), Ian Burns (drums) and Patrick McCarthy (guitar). It was recorded at home over a five-year period while Sheehy was a stay-at-home father and working evenings at a bar in Camden, north London.

Tol & Tol are the Dutch musical duo made up of brothers Cees Tol and Thomas Tol. In the 1990s, they gained wider recognition with their music, featuring melodic pop songs with a distinctive Mediterranean and world-music influence. Their music gives a warm, summery sound which became quite popular in the Netherlands and beyond. The duo is also known for their collaboration with the popular Dutch group BZN (Band Zonder Naam), of which they both have been of part of. This compilation album presents the most popular and succesful songs of the duo, including their popular songs "Eleni", "Sedalia" and "Recuerdos de la Alhambra".

Karates trotziges und letztes Studioalbum rundet eine 12-jährige Diskografie ab, die von harDCore-artiger Katharsis bis hin zu feedbackgesättigten Improvisationen reicht. Dieser Klassiker aus dem Jahr 2004 verzichtete auf die Friendster-Migration zugunsten eines zurück zum Wesentlichen gerichteten Songwritings, das von Jazzphrasierungen und beatinspirierter Lyrik durchdrungen ist. Mit Chris Brokaw, dem Gitarristen von Codeine/Come, wurde ,Pockets" von den originalen Analogbändern neu gemastert und kommt in einer Deluxe-Hülle mit reproduzierten Songtexten.

Was für eine schöne und unerwartete Überraschung: 25 Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung von "Die Summe der einzelnen Teile" von Kante liefert Acid Pauli einen grandiosen Remix ab. Seine Uptempo-Techno-Version verleiht dem Klassiker der Hamburger Schule neuen Schwung - einem deutschen Song, der über die Wunder des Musikmachens sinniert: "In manchen Momenten, für eine Weile, entsteht mehr als die Summe seiner Teile". Acid Pauli spielte den unveröffentlichten Track erstmals in seinen Live-Sets und seinem Pingipung-Podcast (#175), und als er Kante fragte, was sie von der dopamingeladenen Interpretation ihres Pop-Hits aus dem Jahr 2000 in seinem DJ-Mix hielten, gab es rundum Daumen hoch und strahlende Gesichter. Als sich herausstellte, dass Acid Pauli noch einen weiteren Kante-Edit in petto hatte, nahm diese 7"-Single schnell Gestalt an. Auf der B-Seite verbindet er seine Kick-Drums mit dem langsamen, sehnsuchtsvollen "California" aus Kantes Debütalbum "Zwischen den Orten" von 1997. Hier ist sie also: Pingipung präsentiert stolz "Kante on Acid" - zwei Knaller für die Festivalsaison, die uns zurück zu den Wurzeln der Hamburger Popmusik führen, gebrochen durch Acid Paulis charakteristisch energiegeladenen, psychedelischen Groove. Kante: Eine einzigartige Band, die die Hamburger Schule mit Jazz-, Post-Rock- und Indie-Elementen verbindet und für ihre ausdrucksstarken, melancholischen Texte bekannt ist. Mit Alben wie "Zwischen den Orten", "Zweilicht", "Zombi" und "Die Tiere sind unruhig" wurden sie um die Jahrtausendwende zu einer der markantesten Stimmen der deutschsprachigen Popmusik. Acid Pauli: Acid Pauli (alias Martin Gretschmann) steht für einen eklektischen Ansatz in der elektronischen Kultur und beschäftigt sich seit über zwei Jahrzehnten mit psychedelischer, experimentierfreudiger Musik abseits der Mainstream-Pfade. Er ist in Techno-Clubs in New York oder auf Ibiza ebenso zu Hause wie bei der Produktion von Hörspielen und dem Schreiben von Filmmusik.

Incubus is an American rock band from Calabasas, California. The group was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer José Pasillas while they were students at Calabasas High School. The lineup later expanded to include bassist Alex “Dirk Lance” Katunich and Gavin “DJ Lyfe” Koppel. Both were eventually replaced, Ben Kenney took over on bass, and DJ Kilmore joined as the band’s turntablist. In 2024, Nicole Row replaced Kenney on bass.

Incubus’ sound has been described as a blend of rap metal, funk, jazz, and post‑grunge, often incorporating elements of hip‑hop. This eclectic style helped them become one of the most popular alternative metal bands of the early 2000s.

The band has achieved significant commercial success, earning multiple multi‑platinum releases and producing several hit singles. In 2017, they released their eighth full‑length studio album, 8, with Skrillex contributing to production and mixing.

Sam Cooke, inventor and true King of Soul, recorded Mr. Soul in 1963, the same year as Night Beat, and seems to be its more adult counterpart, with soulful ballads taking up most of the album. A laidback tempo and rich arrangements lay the foundation for Sam's somewhat melancholy voice floats, creating an uplifting spirit that can mend anyone's broken heart.

With standards such as "Willow Weep For Me", "I Wish You Love", and "For Sentimental Reasons", Cooke shows a quiet emotive side of himself without losing his keen sense of melody, using the strength of his voice without overpowering the listener. Had Sam Cooke lived longer, we might have had more music of this rare quality. As it stands, we must make do with the treasures he left behind.

Lifeforce is the 1985 sci-fi horror cult film directed by Tobe Hooper, responsible for the 1974 horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Based on Colin Wilson's 1976 novel The Space Vampires, the film is about the remnants of a race of intergalactic vampires who are brought to London, where they soon begin to infect its population.

Legendary composer Henry Mancini has soundtracked this apocalyptic descent into chaos. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in film history exemplified by his impressive trophy wall: he won four Oscars, a Golden Globe, and twenty Grammy Awards, plus a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He is most famous for "Moon River" performed by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's and of course The Pink Panther.

James Horner was first asked to compose the score, but Mancini was brought in instead and crafted a piece of music both bombastic and ambient (and sometimes even atonal), employing the London Symphony Orchestra. Sit back and feel the fear...

Like a meteor striking earth, two forces hit each other. Merkelbach and Nathan Homan found each other in a shared vision in music, and this is the reason they’ve started the label Beau Brummel. Combine the two and you get the alias Merkoman. If you were to take a look at both of their agendas, you’d see Thursday crossed off because that’s Brummel Day. After two years of Thursday evening Brummel sessions, a big vault of music has been filled. The result is The Story of Brooks Pipe, a two-part story of a refreshing new sound that only Merkoman can achieve. In Part 1 you’ll find four tracks strictly made for all sorts of dance floors. An additional injection of creative artwork was given by Sjeng Schupp.

Phara returns with a second project under his In Glass alias. In 'Scratching the Surface', we're light years away from the heavier, more instructive dance records that have become synonymous with Phara's style. In this EP, the Belgian artist reaffirms his celestial, delicate sound in four tracks that delve further deeper into the emotional soundscape proposed in the first EP.

'Sally' begins the project with the most dance floor oriented of the four tracks, proposing an intoxicating blend of styles that bloom throughout its six minutes. Soft pads and bright keys twinkle along a cradling rhythm as In Glass delivers a truly musical piece that sifts through memories. Percussion is then taken out of the equation as 'All Things (424 Version)' comes and lands softly on the center stage. Lush, ambient waves come lapping at the shore of 'Scratching the Surface', describing nothing but space and serenity - a breath from everything. The dreamy tone of 'All Things' oscillates along reassuringly into the B side, keeping the tempo low and the sound design organic. Here, we step into In Glass's world of dub techno and adjacent sounds that defined his first record last year. 'Plateau' rises slowly from the wax with a round low end and suspended chords that hover high above. Opening stabs over a harmonic bassline make a head massage of a track that sways along. The raw emotion behind In Glass's music is inviting, flashing by as ethereal synths open and close to install a personal, meditative experience of electronic music. The percussion remains discrete, allowing the harmonic information to wash over the listener into the last track of the EP. He concludes with 'My Idle Hands', pressing further into the dub techno sound that echoes through a cathedral of memories. Blurry shapes pass by over a more determined rhythm section, confirming the intimate nature of In Glass's music. The music wanders along, its head in the clouds but with a full heart, telling stories of being lost and finding home.

dubscapes, shimmering reverb, rolling layers of synths and organic percussiontinkling like shells on the ocean bed. With hints of throw-back '90s, atmospheric,
trip-hop and forward focused electronica, the album both energises and soothes.

Charles.A.D. presents Luminous, a new release on Avantroots that further defnes his deep and immersive vision of dub techno. Across six compositions, the artist creates a hypnotic journey where echoes, atmospheric textures, and minimalist grooves merge into a warm and contemplative sonic experience.
With an elegant and detail-oriented approach, Luminous explores the relationship between space, depth, and movement, allowing each piece to evolve slowly through layers of reverb, deep pulses, and emotional landscapes. The album balances introspection with dancefloor functionality, revealing a mature and coherent side of Charles.A.D’s sonic identity.

Irish label Il Corpo returns for its third outing with a hard to pigeon hole 10” from 710 Exit. 2 tracks that sit on the electro end of things but with a generous nod to the sound of Detroit, early UK breakbeat, soul and the deeper realms of electronic music. Close To The Sun feels like more than just a cosmic position. A solid 808 foundation and loose percussion sit beneath a bed of synth lines and soaring pads that are guaranteed to stir the soul. The signal for nostalgia is strong but there are plenty more twists and turns to keep the listener engaged. Warped guitar and soul samples make Strat an infectious workout brimming with experimentation and originality. Effected chords take on an almost vocal quality which talks over the casual, understated funk on offer here. Ever changing tones draw you in and make it hard to distinguish between guitar, synth or human. A unique E.P. which will find its way into the sets of varying selectors at this summer’s gatherings.

Best known as one half of KIASMOS alongside Ólafur Arnalds, the Faroe Islands born, Reykjavik based producer Janus Rasmussen has consistently refined an elegant sound that marries sonic precision with emotional depth. Over the past decade, he has built a wide-ranging body of work through collaborations across multiple genres as a producer, songwriter, musician, and mix engineer.

As a solo artist, Janus has crafted compositions that balance immersive sound design, subtle melodic shifts and rhythmic drive, drawing on his diverse musical appreciation and studio experimentation. These experiences have shaped a creative identity that now comes into sharp focus on his most ambitious solo project to date - Inert.

The album marks a bold step forward, thematically exploring the act of breaking free from inertia through embracing creative freedom. With his new work, Janus incorporates his own vocals more than ever, weaving them seamlessly around intricate electronics as he expands his sound into new territory, while retaining the subtle restraint that has defined his output. Drawing inspiration from the dance music spectrum, Inert reflects a renewed sense of momentum, vulnerability and adventurousness in his sound.

Amsterdam-based collective Mèraque presents Paradiso, a hypnotic blend of Balkan and Middle Eastern folk with psychedelic club music. Traditional instruments such as oud, clarinet, guitar, and darbuka are interwoven with experimental downtempo electronics and subtle drum & bass influences.

Rooted in Balkan and Roma traditions, the band translates centuries-old melodies into a contemporary electronic landscape. In their interpretation of the traditional song Ederlezi, the emotional core remains intact, while modern production and deep grooves bring it to the dancefloor. Tracks like Space Ohm, inspired by Turkish Çifte Telli rhythms, move between ritualistic folk energy and hypnotic club structures.

The album features remixes by Anatolian Sessions, unders, and Dan Bay, further translating the material into an international club context.
