Seasoned sunset soundtrack label-owner, DJ and composer Mark Barrott returns with new album The Exit Diaries. A constant innovator and master of chillout, the record is a rich, deluxe affair comprising two long-form instrumental pieces that weave together soul, jazz, orchestral composition and electronica. With over three decades of output across multiple aliases, Barrott has carved out an influential space spanning early breakbeat futurism, Balearic folk, orchestral ambient and global electronica. He has earned widespread acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, Mojo, Uncut alongside radio support from Mary Anne Hobbs, Elizabeth Alker and Hannah Peel. His new album ‘The Exit Diaries’ features two movements: side one, ‘Light Variations’, is inspired by “Sunday tunes” - a warm, slow-unfolding soundtrack of soul, Alice Coltrane–esque textures and gentle synths, elevated by the fluid drumming of Leo Taylor (The Invisible, Floating Points, Hot Chip). Side two, The Stone Tape, opens with the sweeping ‘When Devils Become Gods’, before drifting through the ambient landscapes of ‘Quarries’ and the cinematic, emotionally rich compositions ‘The Stone Cutter’s Dilemma’, ‘Land (iii)’ and ‘Closer’. Throughout, Barrott demonstrates a rare ability to transport listeners into deeply atmospheric, meditative spaces, delivering a deeply immersive and quietly profound addition to his catalogue.

London’s The Hanging Stars return with their sixth album, Just A Day – a dazzling collection of four-part harmonies, shimmering twelve-string guitars and chiming songs, touching on themes of longing, new beginnings and the fragility of the everyday. Recorded at Edwyn Collin’s legendary Clashnarrow Studios in the Scottish Highlands, the album marks a bold new chapter for the band, produced with the invaluable guidance of Teenage Fanclub’s Gerard Love.

As WARNING prepares to release Rituals of Shame - their first new music in twenty years,vocalist/guitarist Patrick Walker is self-effacing about what led to this moment. Over the last two decades he continued to write and release music, satisfied that he had achieved what he set out to do with WARNING. In those intervening years, interest in WARNING swelled, organically gathering an ardent fanbase. In particular, the 2006 album, Watching from a Distance, has gained a cult following. In response to a transformative period in his life, Walker turned towards writing new songs, and it soon became apparent that these belonged to WARNING. In early January 2025, he started with a completely blank canvas, and piece by piece, he started to fill it with ideas that evolved to become the songs that make up Rituals of Shame.

His immersion in the project became a full-time pursuit. After successfully demoing the five songs, Walker retreated to a remote house on a hill outside Florence, Italy, to refine the lyrics. Recording took place at The Arch Studio, a 140-year-old former church in Southport, UK. Chris Fullard (Idles, Sunn O))), Ulver) handled the recording and mixing. Walker's lifelong musical inspirations can be traced through Rituals of Shame. The ambitious structural arrangements harken to Marillion’s complex but soaring episodic songs. They retain a sparsity that is reminiscent of June Tabor’s economic arrangements; thick with melody but with a diaphanous air to them. Citing John Brenner of Revelation as an enduring inspiration, Patrick credits him with introducing the idea of how to infuse heavy music with significant emotional depth. Often reluctant to discuss the minutiae of his lyrics, Walker does acknowledge that making this album was a direct response to the immediate concerns of his current life period. Rituals of Shame also echoes the enduring themes and fixations that have marked most of his work: guilt, shame, personal failure, obsession, longing, and separation, but, most of all, he says, love. For sure, CUTTHROAT may be “new,” but they definitely sound OLD here: think early / best Possessed, Morbid Angel, Merciless, and Necrovore and you’re within the power-trio’s wheelhouse. And no, they don’t intend to reinvent that wheel any time soon; the wheel that is Invoking Terror simply rolls over you – FAST – and the only recourse is to submit and headbang like a fucking maniac or summarily get flattened like the wimp that you are. Rough Trade Records veröffentlicht eine remasterte Doppel-Vinyl-Neuausgabe von Love Is Overtaking Me. Die Sammlung vereint Folk-, Pop- und Country-Songs von Arthur Russell, darunter "Planted a Thought", "Close My Eyes" und "I Couldn"t Say It to Your Face". Die ursprüngliche Ausgabe erschien 2007. Für die neue Edition wurden frisch entdeckte Originalbänder verwendet und von Timothy Stollenwerk in Portland neu gemastert. Ergänzt wird das Release durch überarbeitetes Artwork von Molly Smith sowie ausführliche Linernotes von Tom Lee. Seit über zwanzig Jahren macht Audika Russells vielseitiges Werk zugänglich und hat maßgeblich dazu beigetragen, ihm posthum ein größeres Publikum zu erschließen. Als John Coltrane 1965 für Impulse! Records das Album “Ascension“” aufnahm, war er sowohl in künstlerischer als auch in kommerzieller Hinsicht einer der erfolgreichsten Jazzmusiker. Das Album besteht
aus einem fast 40-minütigen Stück, das am 28. Juni 1965 im Rudy Van Gelder Studio in zwei verschiedenen Takes (Edition I und Edition II) aufgenommen wurde, die nun erstmals gemeinsam auf einer

Im Juli 1995 trafen sich Arvo Pärt und Manfred Eicher in der Frankfurter Festeburgkirche mit vier aufmerksamen Musikern – dem Geiger Vladimir Spivakov, dem Cellisten Dietmar Schwalke sowie den Pianisten
Alexander Malter und Sergej Bezrodny –, um eine Aufnahme zu realisieren, die sich ganz auf die Kompositionen “Für Alina” und “Spiegel im Spiegel” konzentriert. Das Ergebnis, das ECM New Series Album Alina,
nimmt sowohl in der Diskografie des estnischen Komponisten als auch im ECM-Katalog einen besonderen
Platz ein. “Für Alina”, geschrieben 1976, war für Pärt eine bahnbrechende Komposition und zugleich
symbolisch der Ausgangspunkt für die folgenden Werke. „Ich könnte meine Musik mit weißem Licht vergleichen, das alle Farben enthält“, sagte Arvo Pärt damals. „Nur ein Prisma kann die Farben aufteilen und
sichtbar machen; dieses Prisma könnte der Geist des Zuhörers sein.“ Zeitgenössische Rezensenten meinten,
dass das aufmerksame Verfolgen des Flusses von Alina die Wahrnehmung schärfe. Gramophone beschrieb
das Album als „die Stimme eines inneren Exils, in sich gekehrt und zutiefst persönlich, aber für jeden
zugänglich, der bereit ist zuzuhören. Die große Gefahr beim Hören von Alina besteht darin, dass vieles von
dem, was man danach hört, plötzlich wie Lärm wirkt – zu viel Lärm. Aber es ist ein Risiko, das einzugehen
sich lohnt.“

„In My Own Words“ ist eine Hommage an herausragendes lyrisches Storytelling, echte Emotionen und
geschmeidige Choreografien, die jeden Song unterstreichen. Obwohl Ne-Yo bereits als Songwriter für
andere erfolgreich war, machte ihn das 2006 erschienene Album „In My Own Words“ der Welt als Künstler
bekannt. Mit Hitsingles wie „So Sick“, „Sexy Love“ und „When You’re Mad“ stellte dieses Album nicht
nur sein erstaunliches Songwriting, sondern auch sein unglaubliches Gesangstalent unter Beweis. NeYos Debütalbum war ein kommerzieller Erfolg, erreichte Platin-Status und etablierte ihn als einen der
einflussreichsten R&B-Künstler dieser Ära.

The Comfort enters the double digits of its catalogue with the label’s most ambitious release to date by Saudi Arabian artist Noboot, titled “Call and Pulsate”.

Fluid in genre yet wholeheartedly electro in spirit, Noboot’s creative output shapeshifts across the record: from four-to-the-floor acid-tinged propulsion to time-freezing illuminations, with neon-coloured synths, body-twisting low ends and piercing drum hits mutating throughout the album, and often within the tracks themselves.

Noboot’s capacity for sonic manipulation is on full display here with the pieces moving with a captivating direction and command. Sometimes gentle, sometimes dramatic, but always carried with a particular elegance and poise. To listen to the record from start to finish is to step into Noboot’s own conceptual world, one in which the artist has the confidence to take floor-oriented dance music and elevate it both in spirit and form.

There is composure and ambition in this approach. Tracks move the listener from one emotional state to another in the span of six minutes: not merely teasing transformation, but by fully taking the listener there. To deliver on that ambition requires control and idiosyncratic intuition. If “Desolated Delay” and “Timer Set” are striking examples of Noboot’s capacity for propulsion, “Meter Tired” shows the other side of their talent: the ability to make time feel briefly suspended in a weightless flux of cybernetic psychedelia.

To achieve this once or twice would already be impressive. To sustain it across an album of this scale is rare in electronic dance music, and makes The Comfort’s tenth release a defining moment in the label’s catalogue.

Origami unfolds on La Danse de l'Albatros to reveal an intricate universe - long-form narrative storytelling in direct opposition to disposable tools.

DOGMA marks a new beginning for Coloray. As the name suggests, the project explores the endless search for meaning in a world that does not always offer one. Across 11 tracks, the artist reflects on queer romance, grief, youthful hope, and melancholic joy. Emotional, chaotic, and imperfect, DOGMA mirrors both the artist and the messy reality of a life unfolding. Rather than forcing rigid structures, the album embraces looseness and human presence. Live recordings and improvised songwriting take center stage- every lyric was written in the moment, and the tracks remain intentionally raw to preserve their imperfections.

In this way, the album is both personal and political. It calls for belief in keeping humanity alive and for dismantling the societal dogmas that push artists away from the core of their creative identity. DOGMA is an honest journey of self-authorship, unfolding through the sounds of new wave, disco-punk, electro, and ambient music.

Aufgenommen in den Abbey Road Studios ist *Merregnon: Heart of Ice* Nobuo Uematsus erstes Werk, das
ursprünglich als Konzertstück konzipiert wurde – nach jahrzehntelangem Erfolg als Videospielkomponist für
*Final Fantasy* (eine der erfolgreichsten Spielereihen der Gaming-Geschichte).
Das Werk steht in derselben Tradition wie *Peter und der Wolf* und wurde geschaffen, um junge Zuhörer
an klassische Musik und die Instrumente eines Orchesters heranzuführen. Jede der vier Hauptfiguren wird
durch ein eigenes musikalisches Motiv sowie eine bestimmte Instrumentengruppe des Orchesters repräsentiert.
Nobuo Uematsu wird dabei von einem der renommiertesten Orchester der Welt begleitet – dem London Symphony Orchestra.
Zwölf der Stücke enthalten erzählerische Passagen, gesprochen von der Oscar-Preisträgerin Alicia Vikander.

Berlin’s Beste Modus has been moving from strength to strength over the past five years, with the DJ and producer collective all making their mark on the local scene in the German capital and across the globe. Here we see two of the members stepping up to deliver two-tracks each for the labels ninth release.

Cinthie takes the a-side and leads with ‘Everything I Say’, employing choppy synth stabs, bumpy bass and heavily swung 909 drums alongside a hooky vocal before ‘Good For You And Me’ edges into Garage territory, fusing bright piano chords and a stab-led
bass hook with tension building strings and soulful vocals lines.
On the flip is two cuts from stevn.aint.leavn, the first of which, ‘Quins’, takes a more stripped-back approach via rumbling subs, metallic percussion and a stuttering synth line throughout. ‘Spiff’ then closes the package with an array of organic drum hits, soft chords, airy chimes and heady electronic synths all unfolding dynamically throughout.

Following the massive success of their sophomore album Fading Forward, Les Imprimés, by popular demand, press two standout tracks from the album on the coveted 7" format. The A side, 'You & I,' is a feel-good, upbeat homage to the kind of love that endures "through the chaos and the blunders." Punchy drums and keys create an undeniable two-stepper for frontman Morten Martens' vocals to float above. Dreamers dream and dancers dance as Martens paints a picture of a devoted, understanding love that few are lucky enough to find. On the B side, Les Imprimés offer their take on the classic slow jam. 'Miss The Days' unfolds gradually, with slow pulsing drums and building instrumentation that evoke longing and nostalgia. Martens sings of simpler times impossible to forget-moments free of adult responsibilities, when "it was you and me, hand in hand, sometimes wasted_" Ama Li joins him on vocals, transforming the track into a killer modern take on the classic soul duet, a tune sure to resonate far and wide.

With its second release, Fleur Sauvage stays true to its opening premise: no calculated moves, no outside logic, only work that could not reasonably exist anywhere else. Danieli has been part of the La Nature and NoName fabric for years, as co-curator, resident, and crew, one of those people whose presence shapes a space long before a set begins. This album is the natural continuation of that relationship, extended now into a more permanent form.
Where FS001 captured the charge of a live moment, FS002 turns inward. Seven studio compositions, built at a remove from the dance floor, without urgency or performance. The kind of record that needed time to be what it is.

The B-side loosens further. Reverie does exactly what the word promises, without apology. Anew carries a quiet kind of relief, not triumphant but settled. Heavenly closes the record differently: a long, unhurried progression, organic sounds swelling and receding in waves, building toward something that never quite resolves, and doesn't need to.
Throughout, the sound is precise without being cold, textured without ornament. Ambient in the truest sense, music that holds a room, and asks nothing back.
