How do losers dance? According to Helmut, almost weightlessly, with soft feet, warm gestures, sometimes alone, sometimes together. Content Creatures, Helmut's fourth album, evokes the pop archetype of the "beautiful loser", who had almost disappeared from view in so-called late capitalism. In a present in which even suffering is often similarly instrumentalised and tailored to clicks like a competitive sport, this album sets a counterpoint: those who listen to it suddenly want to be enchanting losers again, useless and joyfully messing up, losing something beloved, having their hearts broken, giving up a dream, sinking into beauty.
You don't sink alone. Comforting harmonies envelop you, the voices of friends appear, accompany you for a while and then disappear again. Warm grooves, floating synths and delicate guitar lines characterise an indie sound that remains open and breathes.
Self-produced for the first time in his home studio in Neukölln, 'Content Creatures' sounds thoughtful and light at the same time. The album will be released digitally and on vinyl on 10 April 2026 on Berlin-based label St.Vladimir. There are four songs on one side and four songs on the other. The cover is adorned with an exceptionally pretty guinea pig. Helmut shows the special in the seemingly ordinary: a child's pet, the most ordinary of all, is his cover star and headstrong protagonist.

Das Debütalbum einer der renommiertesten und einflussreichsten Bands Großbritanniens, Songs to Remember, versetzt uns zurück in die Anfänge von Scritti Politti. Die von Green Gartside angeführte Gruppe, die aus der DIY-Szene der Einzimmerwohnungen in Camden Ende der 70er Jahre hervorgegangen war, hatte jedoch eine musikalische Vision, die der von Miles Davis (mit dem sie später zusammenarbeiteten) in nichts nachstand. Songs to Remember, das bei seiner Veröffentlichung 1982 vom NME als "witzig und genial" beschrieben wurde, wurde für diese längst überfällige Vinyl-Neuauflage vollständig remastered, was Gartside persönlich überwacht hat. "Mark E Smith, damals Künstler bei Rough Trade, sagte einmal zu mir: 'Scritti hat die beste Rhythmusgruppe in der Rockmusik." Nach zwei gemeinsamen Headliner-Tourneen in den letzten zehn Jahren setzen die Melvins ihre langjährige Tradition fort, mit einer anderen Band ein Album aufzunehmen. Als nächstes steht Napalm Death auf dem Programm. Es handelt sich hierbei nicht um eine Split-Veröffentlichung, bei der jede Band eine Seite für sich beansprucht. Savage Imperial Death March ist eine vollständige Zusammenarbeit, bei der Melvins und Napalm Death auf allen Tracks gemeinsam spielen. Diese Veröffentlichung erschien ursprünglich 2025 in streng limitierter Auflage auf CD und Vinyl über AmRep (nur auf Tour und im AmRep-Store). Es handelt sich um eine erweiterte Version mit zwei zusätzlichen Songs, brandneuem Artwork von Mackie Osborne, neuen Vinyl-Varianten und wird zum ersten Mal offiziell in Plattenläden, bei DSPs und anderen Händlern erhältlich sein. Napalm Death gelten als Pioniere des Grindcore-Genres, da sie Elemente des Crust Punk und Death Metal einfließen lassen. Selbst nachdem sie fast 40 Jahre lang einen unauslöschlichen Einfluss auf die gesamte Welt der Heavy-Musik ausgeübt haben, gibt es immer noch keine Band auf der Welt, die so klingt wie Napalm Death. Big Crown Records freut sich, das zweite Album von Les Imprimes, ,Fading Forward", zu präsentieren. Unter der Leitung des autodidaktischen Multi-Instrumentalisten und Produzenten Morten Martens beschäftigt sich dieses Album mit Sterblichkeit, Realitätsflucht und einer Vielzahl von Erfahrungen, die mit Liebe verbunden sind. Martens hinterließ mit seinem hochgelobten Debütalbum ,Rêverie" aus dem Jahr 2023 einen bleibenden Eindruck Rêverie einen enormen Eindruck und hat sich seitdem eine treue Fangemeinde aufgebaut, deren Demografie ebenso vielfältig ist wie die Einflüsse, die seine Musik prägen. Er mischt Klänge aus dem Soul der 60er und 70er Jahre mit Anspielungen auf Doo-Wop-Platten, übernimmt die Energie der Hip-Hop-Drums und überzieht das Ganze mit Gesangsstilen aus den 90ern und 2000ern . Aber es sind Martens' Texte, Emotionen und Darbietung, die wirklich alles zusammenbringen und ihm helfen, sich von seinen Kollegen abzuheben. Seine Texte sind ansteckend und poppig und werden mit höchster Klasse und Geschmack umgesetzt, was Les Imprimés die seltene Eigenschaft verleiht, sofort anzusprechen und mit jedem Hören noch besser zu werden. Der aus Kristiansand, Norwegen, stammende Martens spielt fast alle Instrumente auf Fading Forward, produziert und arrangiert das Album und singt natürlich auch. ,Es ist Soulmusik, aber ich habe nicht gerade eine Soulstimme", erklärt Morten bescheiden. ,Aber ich mache es auf meine eigene Art und Weise, auf eine Art, die mir eigen ist." Der Album-Opener ,You & I" ist Mortens Hommage an seine Partnerin, die ,durch das Chaos und die Fehler" mit ihm durchhält. On Psalm Funk, Bnnyhunna deepens the artistic language he first articulated on his celebrated debut Echoes of a Prayer. Rather than retracing familiar ground, the Amsterdam-based composer and producer expands his palette, allowing rhythm and space to carry as much narrative weight as harmony and lyricism.

While Echoes of a Prayer felt personal and devoted, Psalm Funk opens things up. Gospel harmonies stay central to his music, but now they are energized by smooth funk rhythms and heightened by the flexibility of jazz improvisation. Bnnyhunna moves between styles effortlessly, in a way that nothing seems borrowed, but everything feels lived in.

At the center of the record is an understanding of space. Silence acts not as an absence but as a structure. Breath, restraint, and patience shape the music just as much as basslines and backbeats. This awareness of dynamics allows the album to grow without losing its focus. It signifies a subtle but important change in Bnnyhunna as an artist, moving from inward reflection to forward momentum, from prayer as personal dialogue to prayer as a physical expression. The clarity, discipline, and emotional depth that marked his debut remain, now directed into something more rhythmically confident and spiritually uplifting.

Fusing gospel, funk, jazz, and African rhythmic traditions, Psalm Funk serves as both a meditation and an outpouring. It invites deep thought while demanding a physical response.

The album includes collaborations with American saxophonist Braxton Cook, trumpeter Sheila Maurice-Grey of Kokoroko, 3DDY, and Reggie Dartey, among others. The singles "Sorry Not Sorry" and "Waiting For You" have already hinted at the project's range, while the latest single, "The Heart Part 2," further expands on the album's dynamic and emotional scope.

To celebrate the release, Bnnyhunna will tour the Netherlands in April, with performances in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Nijmegen before heading to the UK for a show at The Great Escape.

Released in October 2024, Bnnyhunna's debut album Echoes of a Prayer was created as a dialogue with God, a personal call expressed through sound. The record resonated both with fans and media, gaining support from platforms like 3voor12, Rolling Stone Africa, and Afromixx. It reached the airwaves of BBC Radio 1 in the UK, KEXP in the US, J-Wave in Japan, and 3FM in the Netherlands, and landed in playlists such as BUTTER, Morning Rhythm, and Vanguard.

In 2025, Echoes of a Prayer earned the Edison Pop award for Soul/R&B/Funk and received Grammy consideration for Best Alternative Jazz Album. On stage, Bnnyhunna established his presence with performances at festivals such as Lowlands, Couleur Cafe, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Dour, and Super Sonic Jazz, as well as his first tour in Japan.

Drei Jahre nach seinem #1-Album „Reparatur“ meldet sich Josh. mit seinem vierten Studioalbum zurück. Auf „Wer singt dann Lieder für dich“ beweist der Wiener Singer-Songwriter und fünffache Amadeus-Preisträger erneut, wie er aus persönlichen Geschichten packende Popmusik schafft – mal leicht, mal melancholisch, immer mit einem Gespür für Timing, Humor und Gefühl. Seit seiner Kindheit spielt Josh. klassische Gitarre und war in Schulbands aktiv. Später studierte er sieben Jahre lang Jazz und Popularmusik, brach das Studium jedoch aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen ab – seine Liebe zur Musik blieb davon unberührt. Heute spiegelt sich diese Erfahrung in einem Sound, der organisch, warm und zugleich überraschend facettenreich ist. Für „Wer singt dann Lieder für dich“ hat Josh. so viele Instrumente wie nie zuvor selbst eingespielt – von Gitarre über Bass bis zur Pedal-Steel – und damit jedem Song eine unmittelbare Nähe verliehen. „Es war das bisher entspannteste und lustigste, gleichzeitig aber auch das arbeitsintensivste Album“, sagt er über die Aufnahmen, die erneut in kongenialer Zusammenarbeit mit Produzent Florian Koch entstanden sind. Seit „Teilzeitromantik“ (2021) ist Koch stetiger kreativer Partner, musikalischer Direktor und Schlagzeuger der Band – eine bewährte Konstellation, die für klare Strukturen und kreative Freiheit sorgt. „Ich glaube, dass es ein Album ist, das wieder die Leichtigkeit des Nonsens gefunden hat“, so Josh., „Momente, in denen man lachen, feiern oder einfach man selbst sein kann, treffen auf nachdenkliche, melancholische Songs.“ Es ist die Momentaufnahme eines 39-Jährigen, der reflektiert – und dabei stets offen für das Absurde und Komische in den kleinen Dingen bleibt.

Nach einem Livejahr 2025, das eine Tour durch Österreich und Deutschland, einen Headliner-Gig auf dem Donauinselfest vor 100.000 Fans sowie eine Support-Show für Robbie Williams umfasste, hat „Austropop-Darling“ (TZ) Josh. in diesem Jahr wieder viel vor: Im April und Mai ist er auf komplett ausverkaufter Solotour in Österreich zu erleben, im Anschluss folgen Konzerte in Deutschland und der Schweiz. Amulets is the solo project of Portland-based audio and visual artist Randall Taylor. Amulets employs handmade cassette tape loops and live processed guitar loops to create live, lush soundscapes and immersive drones. Through the recontextualisation of cassettes, sampling, field recording, and looping, these long-form compositions blur the genres of ambient, drone, noise, and electronic music. Amulets has steadily built a catalog defined by tactile intimacy and patient exploration. Deeply immersive, the album navigates the dreamy boundaries between the tangible and the ethereal, where sound behaves as memory itself: unstable, layered, and quietly transformative. Known for his ability to weave soundscapes that evoke powerful emotions with minimalistic instrumentation, Taylor's newest project is a masterful exploration of mood, atmosphere, and texture.Throughout the ambient soundscapes is introspection, melancholy, and an almost hypnotic calm. On this third album from Jiyu, the Copenhagen band stretch their cosmic–spiritual jazz language into deeper, wilder terrain. White vinyl. Signed Print Edition. When Jack Tatum began work on Life of Pause, his third full-length to date, he had lofty ambitions: Don't just write another album; create another world. One with enough detail and texture and dimension that a listener could step inside, explore, and inhabit it as they see fit. "I desperately wanted for this to be the kind of record that would displace me," he says. "I'm terrified by the idea of being any one thing, or being of any one genre. And whether or not I accomplish that, I know that my only hope of getting there is to constantly reinvent. That reinvention doesn't need to be drastic, but every new record has to have its own identity, and it has to have a separate set of goals from what came before." What came before: a rightfully acclaimed, much beloved display of singular pop craftsmanship. Tatum's dreamy, unexpected 2010 debut, Gemini, was written while he was still a student at Virginia Tech University. Its equally disarming follow-up, 2012's Nocturne, marked the first time he'd been able to bring his bedroom recordings into a studio, to be performed and fully realized with the help of other musicians. There has been a set of wonderfully expansive EPs in between_each hinting at new directions and punctuating previous ideas_but with Life of Pause, Tatum delivers what he describes as his most "honest" and "mature" work yet, an exquisitely arranged and beautifully recorded collection of songs that marry the immediate with the indefinable. "I allowed myself to go down every route I could imagine even if it ended up not working for me," he says. "I owe it to myself to take as many risks as possible. Songs are songs and you have to allow yourself to be open to everything." After a prolonged period of writing and experimentation, recording took place over several weeks in both Los Angeles and Stockholm, with producer Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart, Beachwood Sparks) helping Tatum in his search for a more natural and organically textured sound. In Sweden, in a studio once owned by ABBA, they enlisted Peter, Bjorn and John drummer John Ericsson and fellow Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra veteran Pelle Jacobsson, to contribute drums and marimba. In California, at Monahan's home, Tatum collaborated with Medicine guitarist Brad Laner and a crew of saxophonists. From the hypnotic polyrhythms of "Reichpop" to the sugary howl of "Japanese Alice" to the hallucinogenic R&B of "A Woman's Wisdom," the result is a complete, fully immersive listening environment. "I just kept things really simple, writing as ideas came to me," he says. "There's definitely a different kind of `self' in the picture this time around. There's no real love lost, it's much more a record of coming to terms and defining what it is that you have_your place, your relationships. I view every record as an opportunity to write better songs. At the end of the day it still sounds like me, just new."

Kicking off a new concept for Palinoia, I'm presenting a previously unreleased Donato Dozzy track that I first heard in his infamous "DDKH" mix from many moons ago. I regularly harassed Dozzy about this in hopes he had plans for it, but after almost a decade of being questioned he told me to just put it out myself, provided I was doing a track for the B-side.

Knowing full well I couldn't make anything nearly as gorgeous as Donato's underwater techno groover here, I decided to go for something a bit more upbeat and party friendly, all the while as wiggly as the masters' contribution.

With Alouette!, Les Louanges attempts to make sense of his human condition and Québécois identity by bringing guitars and Joual (the French language dialect spoken in Québec) to the forefront while still fuelling his signature grooves. More rock-oriented than his previous albums, this third effort is luminous yet rich in sounds, emotion and political commentary. It unfolds through a journey that will lead Loulou to encounter universal experiences such as illness, death, and true love.

The album is also the result of an artistic quest that began during a period of self-reflection, when Vincent Roberge (aka Les Louanges or Loulou) seized the opportunity to take a break after his last extended tour. Alongside the existential questions typical of someone approaching their thirties came a rediscovery of the classics—from Leonard Cohen and Prince to Richard Desjardins and the nursery rhyme that gives the album its name–, followed by total exploration. In addition to playing most of the instruments himself, the singer-songwriter revived obscure Quebec records through sampling and got to experiment with actual sound recording. Roberge co-produced Alouette! with his long-time collaborator Félix Petit (because why change a winning formula).

Four years after the success of his sophomore album Crash, Les Louanges returns more confident than ever, thanks to a renewed cultural and emotional baggage that allows him to reflect on the past to better engage with the present, while also enjoying it to the fullest. HYPER GAL are restless. Since 2019, Kansai’s minimalist duo has been in persistent, perpetual motion.

In January of 2024, SKiN GRAFT Records introduced HYPER GAL to western audiences, giving the previously self-released album “Pure” a worldwide release. It was followed by “After Image”; a new full-length record; in September of that same year. In short order HYPER GAL left Japan to embark on a month-long European tour, performing at festivals such as Left of the Dial in Rotterdam and Le Guess Who? in Utrecht.

Consisting of Koharu Ishida (vocals) and Kurumi Kadoya (drums), HYPER GAL craft a sound all their own, characterized by avant-garde rhythms, looping landscapes, and hypnotic vocals. Their music resists traditional genre boundaries to carve out a truly singular sonic space.

With their fourth album “Our Hyper”, HYPER GAL thrust their sound into a deeper, harder core. Songs unfold into surprising shapes, embracing shadowy turns emboldened by a heavier low-end, while unearthing sharp takes on Japan’s harsh noise roots. The drums have grown even more acrobatic and unorthodox, while the vocals take on new colors, shifting from mesmerizing repetition to melodic, pop-tinged expression.

The album’s artwork is no less adventurous and features masks created by contemporary artist Tokiyoshi Akina and photographed in the band’s own hands, signaling resistance to the performative dualities of social media and a commitment to authenticity.

With Variations for Light Waves, Swedish composer Linnéa Talp deepens the focus and intensity that shaped her 2022 debut Arch of Motion. Once again, the breath and hum of the pipe organ form the album’s core, but here she pushes further into deep listening and sonic nuance. Across seven pieces, she lingers on the instrument’s most resonant points, allowing its character to reveal itself slowly and patiently.
Talp’s path to this work has unfolded with similar steadiness. After first emerging with her project Deerest, she shifted toward improvisation and minimal composition, guided by an increasing sensitivity to sound and perception. Careful listening is now central to her practice, informing both her methods and her musical language.
The album was recorded over four years on pipe organs across Sweden, including a small funeral-chapel instrument in Lötsjökapellet—an environment Talp describes as an exceptional space for listening. Several pieces feature Christer Bothén (contrabass clarinet) and Mats Äleklint (trombone), whose playing blends seamlessly into her aerated organ tones. The improvisation “Air On Both Sides,” recorded in 2022 with Bothén, became the project’s starting point, an immersive bath in glowing harmonics. At times she interweaves Buchla recordings, setting electronic breath against acoustic resonance.
Talp’s fascination with quietness and delicacy is balanced by an interest in sonic brittleness. The closing title track gradually dismantles a downward chord progression, drifting into gentle collapse, while the brief opener pushes the organ’s pipes into gasping strain. These moments create a music open to chance, instability, and transformation.
Threads running through the album include an interest in chords, subtle improvisation, light, and memories of coastal landscapes. Talp also connects the work to the “thick white fog” surrounding her daughter’s birth. The result is music that envelopes like mist yet continually reveals new shapes—a world o

10 songs from what is possibly the best anarchopunk band currently in existence. The dynamics of the tracks are refreshingly simple, a powerful yet neutral- sounding recording, with very little embellishment or stylized production to hide behind, approaching filth with distorted guitars, haunting bass lines, and steady drum beats, all elevated by the combination of the three voices perfectly balanced between melody and hatred. In a quantized world, one can perceive an endearing dose of human spirit through their tense and disturbingly melodic expressions. A modern Anarcho Punk classic that is surprising to find 40 years after the wonderful bands that spawned the genre, especially England. Includes poster and insert with lyrics.

Since reviewing Pomegranate Seeds: An International Benefit for Mutual Aid in Gaza, the compilation put out by the DISSIDENTS, I've been hunting for more VAMPIRE material, so when I saw I was assigned this LP I became very excited. VAMPIRE is an Australian band that plays apocalyptic anarcho- punk. A sense of extreme urgency pervades VAMPIRE's sound, and What Seems Forever Can Be Broken is ten songs that combine the demanding hardcore of CONFLICT, with a foundation of CRASS, and the rough-hewn delivery of raw punk. The resulting album is dark, hauntingly mesmeric, but also aggressive with a sense of communal voice. In other words, this is anarchopunk that is of the moment, and articulates exactly what contemporary punk is about without being preachy or elitist. This is that eye-to-eye, in-the-trenches vocalization of criticism that comes off as eye-opening and perspective-altering. What Seems Forever Can Be Broken is by far my favorite release thus far in 2025, but also might be the best album I've heard in a really long time. Like, this is benchmark-level material, so definitely give this a listen.

Poffen's bands alone are probably too numerous to name at this point. VAGGARNA RASAR gives us exactly what we expect and hope for--a master class of Swedish mangel HC distilled to its most essential and purest form. Somehow the songs feel even more urgent this time, paired with fuller, thicker production than previous releases. The blown-out, contrasted-to-hell artwork perfectly represents the music, with song titles on the front cover because why not; fuck it. Time marches on and so does hardcore, but some things don't need to change.

By the time Just One of Those Things was recorded, Nat "King" Cole was already considered by the general public as more of a singer and entertainer than a jazz pianist. Cole did his first sessions with the more jazz-oriented Billy May in 1951, but it wasn't until 1957 when they collaborated on this first LP - Just One of Those Things, a memorable album in which all 12 songs fit seamlessly together perfectly. It wasn't just May's arrangements that created such swinging music behind Cole's vocals though, it was also the band, which included many illustrious soloists: Harry "Sweets" Edison, Willie Smith, Pete Candoli, Jimmy Rowles and Lee Young, along with John Collins and Jack Costanzo, members of the celebrated Nat "King" Cole Trio.

Born into a musical family Al Manfredi started writing songs when he was child. As a teenager in 1965, he formed the Nuts & Bolts in the small beach town of San Clemente, California. Inspired by the Kinks, the Beatles and the Byrds, the group separated themselves from the pack by also performing original material written by Manfredi and band mate Mike Ingram. In late 1966 they changed their name to the Lost & Found and relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where they cut a rare single, “Don’t Move Girl” b/w “To Catch the Sun,” which now commands high coin from ‘60s garage collectors. When they returned to San Clemente in early 1967 their music had taken a more psychedelic direction. The Lost & Found were riding high that year, until tragedy struck. Ingram was found hanged under suspicious circumstances and soon after Lost & Found drummer Mike Ryer died of cancer at the age of 19. Heartbroken, Manfredi gave up on the band scene completely and moved to Garden Grove to teach at his family’s music store. But alone, behind closed doors, he kept writing songs and working on his music, recording hours of tapes, often tracking all the instruments himself. In 1973 he chose six of his best songs, some of them written back in the Lost & Found days, and had them custom-pressed as an LP. Only a handful of copies were pressed, and most of these were sent out to various record companies in the hope of landing a deal. Despite the outstanding quality of the music, there were no takers. But decades later, collectors discovered the Al Manfredi album and hailed it a West Coast rock masterpiece. In his Acid Archives book, Patrick Lundborg called its discovery a deus ex machina and compared it to David Crosby’s first solo album and Hawaii-era Merrell Fankhauser, “not just the acutely captured mellowness, but the self-confidence and the talent.”This little-known West Coast rock masterpiece was rediscovered and celebrated by Acid Archives founder Patrick Lundborg and others around the time that Manfredi died in 1995. This version of the album, overseen by Manfredi’s son Exile, and with Manfredi’s story told by Ugly Things’ founder Mike Stax, presents the complete package of an incredible lost and found artist. Contains the album, as originally issued, on side A with unreleased music on side B.

In 2005, Andrew Bird was a previously unimaginable combination of virtuoso violinist, singer-songwriter, guitarist, and whistler. With that year’s album The Mysterious Production of Eggs, Bird minted a new sound that continues to be imitated today.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Mysterious Production of Eggs, Andrew Bird is releasing a very special boxset featuring a 54 page book including photographs, special surprises, and two essays: one written by Andrew himself, and another by Anders Lindall examining the circuitous and fascinating process Andrew and collaborators took to record the album.
The boxset also includes the original release of the album, alongside two LPs of never before released material, on black vinyl. On one LP, a one-to-one playthrough of the album but of demos, live cuts, and alternate versions. The third LP includes more never released rarities on Side A, and a selection of songs from the original album performed by Andrew with the Nu Deco Ensemble. The original cover artist has created all-new artwork for the anniversary piece.

Bristol's Tara Clerkin Trio return to World of Echo and the EP format for a five song collection of quixotic, emotional redolence. But do not mistake their absence for inertia. If their musical output has been a little sparse during those in-between years, limited to a few solo ventures and an astonishing ten minute long piece as a trio, their time has otherwise been richly spent: continuous writing and recording, extensive live performances across Europe and Japan, a cultivation of local and more far-flung artistic connections (musical and otherwise), and a monthly NTS show that, through the voice of others, speaks most obviously to their own unorthodox interests. It's the conflux of that winding activity that leads indirectly to On The Turning Ground, 26 minutes of probing, thoughtful composition that draws from no one specific source. Their inspirations might be centreless, but the trio still possess a very obvious anchor in the form of their hometown. Bristol stands as a city of multitudes, heterogenous and vibrant in such a way as to allow it to renew and remake time and again. Tara Clerkin Trio drink from that same well, duly reflecting a rich musical heritage built on fwd-facing electronic subcultures and experimental urges.

As such, On The Turning Ground finds them subject to their own subtle internal evolution, the pervasive sense that you've caught them mid-bloom, on their way to becoming but never anything but themselves. The two instrumental pieces that bookend the EP stand as a perfect case in point, displaying an increasing mastery of compositional space. Pensive and restrained, 'Brigstow' and 'Once Around' both emanate an interstitial quality that's not so much after- as in-between-hours, miniature dub-folk symphonies held together by the kind of tacit understanding that remains the preserve of only the closest of family units. If those two tracks are shaped by a sense of shifting temporality, then the three vocal-led pieces that comprise the record's core feel like a gentle ossifying of aesthetic into something approaching their own unique form of avant-pop. 'Pop' is, of course, a broadly subjective concept, but there's no avoiding the overt sparkling melodicism of songs like 'Marble Walls' and 'The Turning Ground', undeniable re-directions of that late 90s impulse to bend pop sensibilities into off-centre terrain, to render the familiar new again. This is what Tara Clerkin Trio do, gently pulling the ground from under your feet, turning you to face something you'd not quite seen before. To view the world as they do: sideways, sometimes, all of the time.

It seems almost inevitable that at some stage Blue Matter and The Green Ray would be working together, and we’re delighted to say that this is now about to happen. When Blue Matter co-boss, Nick Saloman, was living in Walthamstow, he sat in with The Green Ray many times at the late-lamented Plough Inn on Wood Street (now a mini-supermarket). In more recent times Nick’s band, The Bevis Frond has played live with them on several occasions, and without wishing to disrespect any former members, the current Green Ray line-up sounds as good as they’ve ever sounded, if not, dare we say, even better than before. The Green Ray was originally assembled in the mid-90s by Ken Whaley & Richard Treece, two key members of Walthamstow legends, Help Yourself. During the last 30 years or so, they have released 7 albums and one 12” single.

Sadly, the line-up has changed quite frequently due to the passing of several of their number. Ken & Richard passed away some years ago, and more recently bassist Jeff Gibbs departed this world. However, now under the all-seeing eye of guitarist Simon Whaley, the current line-up is continuing to fly the East London freak flag high. Not long ago Simon asked us if Blue Matter would like to issue their latest offering, and we came back with a resounding “yes please”. ‘Orchard House’ is a superb album, full of great playing and great songs. There are shades of Mighty Baby and Help Yourself (at their trippiest), plus a West Coast atmosphere which put us in mind of Quicksilver and The Grateful Dead. It’s taken some time to happen, but at last Blue Matter & The Green Ray have come together to issue an unmissable album. So don’t miss it.

'Astro' is the next phase of his musical journey, and as a contained experience, it gives over all that Holo has become celebrated for, alongside explorations of invigorating spaces in which his sound has grown. The title track is an airy, free-flowing affair, with its semi-stepping drum pattern providing the frame for the light chimes of the keys to set the soul going. 'Spirits' ups the ante with its tempo change, its direction more towards a dancefloor in some faraway paradise.
'Sympatika' kicks off the B-side in a similar fashion, with its extensive groove fuelling bated breath for the arrival of the synths. 'Cycles' wraps up the EP, which again shifts focus to a more cavernous, absorbing kind of sound. A final blend of audio excellence that wraps up a one-of-a-kind record from a one-of-a-kind producer.

Brighton-born, Cincinnati-based producer Marsh a.k.a Tom Marshall. ‘Lailonie’ is Marsh’s second studio album and debut Anjunadeep LP. After joining Anjunadeep back in 2018 via ‘Explorations 07’ with ‘Black Mountain’, Marsh has gone on to release a string of well received original EPs including ‘Prospect’ with label mate Nox Vahn, ‘Eu Topos’ and his latest ‘Lost In You’ as well as remixing some of the biggest artists in dance music including Above & Beyond and Armin van Buuren.

Marsh has previously released on Silk Music, where he released his debut album ‘Life On The Shore’ in 2017; and Enhanced Music’s progressive house imprint Colourize. Over the past 2 years, Marsh has become a firm Anjunadeep fan favourite all the while establishing himself as a future star of the electronic scene with a steady stream of tastemaker backing from Joris Voorn, Rufus Du Sol, Kölsch and BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong and Phil Taggart. Recent years have seen him tour globally with Above & Beyond as well as share the bill with legends like Sasha & Digweed and Guy J.
