Roland Clark- Alright! This project is a brainchild from one of house music´s most prolific figures, Roland Clark, who actually wrote and produced the original track that we all love. Vocal credits also go to Roland and to the late Ceybill Jeffries. The remixes on this beauty are rather huge! First up Baltimore´s finest DJ Spen and MicFreak team up and do a masterclass on remixing, what a soulful house monster, beautiful new chords and a baseline to die for. One of Peppermint Jam´s first artists on the roster, Mellow Man, just couldn´t stop and delivered a fantastic remix with that jackin´ groove which puts us back right to the glorious days of house music in the naughties. While the recent Keinemusik album is still making waves, here’s already the next big tune following hot on the heels of that very Send Return. On Forms of Love you’ll find KM’s own Adam Port teaming up with the virtuoso of all things harmonic, Alan Dixon. And a harmonic joint venture it is, climaxing in this übercatchy piano-hook you’ll most probably find all over the place this summer season. The arrangement has it intertwine with string- and horn-pads and grounding with a groove that finds the ideal balance between dreamlike drift and floor-bound euphoria. Already much requested, this one is out to be an essential tune of the year.

Doom (2005) is a science-fiction film based on the iconic video game series, starring Karl Urban and Dwayne Johnson. The film is centered around a group of marines sent on a rescue mission to a facility on Mars, which quickly turns into a game of survival when the team encounters demonic creatures. This release marks the first vinyl release of Clint Mansell's score, which comes as a 2-LP gatefold set pressed on Black Ice vinyl, with original artwork and a poster by illustrator Micha Huigen.

Contexture is another classic example of a true friends & family gathering. The Nijmegen based imprint, running for over 12 years was born out of a tight group of friends with the same passion. 12 years later, their strongest releases are still based on this exact same principle, collect and release music from the inner circle. Julien Fuentes, Dorcas label head, starts things easy with his Klaridub ambient mix. It's quickly followed by familiar ESHU faces Jocelyn and Yasin Engwer, classic dub techno beats from the ESHU vaults. There's also room for new faces, the recently launched collaborative project between Vand and Shoal as Voal dropping their 'Eight Ball' as their ESHU label debut. Flawless minimalistic grooves that make a perfect fit for their long awaited contribution. Label head Ivano Tetelepta teams up with Pirat Records own Christine Benz. After sharing the DJ booth together multiple times they also joined forces in the studio recently and crafted this squeeky techno drifter. There's also an additional 10", exclusive to the ESHU Bandcamp, includes two beats from Klaridub, bringing some excellent smoke ready, head steady dub-techno cuts.

King Tubby the Dub Master, who's output was as prolific as it is sought after, and who's presence is surely missed. We would like to take you on another dub excursion. This time through some essential cuts made for the Producer / DJ Tappa Zukie. King Tubby always added something a little special to the tracks he worked on. Producers would often bring their already recorded tracks to his home studio at 18 Drummlie Avenue in the Kingston district of Waterhouse. The backing tracks which were laid at various other studios around Kingston. Like Channel 1and Randy's Studio 17, would then be voiced/Re-voiced at King Tubby's. Tubby and his team which included Prince Jammy and Philip Smart would be left to create the version cut.

Having listened to the track it would be striped back to the bone of bass and drums and rebuilt. Sprinkling his magic over the track by dropping the bass in and out, adding echo and emphasising various elements of the song. In some cases, dubbing the cut into something unrecognisable from its original sound.

The tracks would be aired on Tubby's Hometown Hi-Fi Sound System. Which acted much like a pre-release for the record to gauge the crowd’s reaction, before the tracks would be unleased on the public. We think we have sourced another fine collection of Tubby Cuts see also King Tubby's Lost Treasures JR001, comprising of work with Mr Tappa Zukie. Lost cuts to some of his own tracks like 'First Street Rock', alongside productions he undertook with the great Prince Allah, Junior Ross and the Spears. Also, the much-overlooked vocal group Knowledge. Some great rhythms, some great tracks, worked over by the greatest dub mixer of them all. Hope you enjoy the set as much as we have compiling it...

Nach fast 10 Jahren Texte schreiben verbringt Apsilon seit gut zwei Jahren viel Zeit im Studio. Inhaltlich gibt es Deutschrap mit antikapitalistischer Analyse ohne erhobenen moralischen Zeigefinger. Provokante Gesellschaftskritik ohne Kompromisse gegen weißdeutsche Bequemlichkeit und Resignation. Die Delivery ist die pure Wut, der Sound ist trappig und modern. New Wave. Apsilon kommt leger um die Ecke und legt Basketballreferenzen neben Rassismuskritik, reiht geschickt deutsche Redewendungen aneinander, während er sie bricht und so mit der deutschen Sprache dribbelt.Mit Songs wie "Baba", EPs wie "32 Zähne" oder "Blei" und Zusammenarbeiten mit Bazzazian, LUVRE47 oder Wa22ermann hat Apsilon sich in gerade mal zwei Jahren vom Newcomer aus Berlin-Moabit zu einem echten Hoffnungsträger für hiesigen HipHop entwickelt. Aus gutem Grund: Apsilon vereint lyrische Schauspiele und nachhallende Performance. Seine inbrünstigen Flows um Lines über Antikapitalismus und Straßenkämpfe umgeben dabei den Hauch einer (Rap-)Revolution, die nicht nur antirassistisch, inklusiv, sondern sogar ohne Zeigefinger auskommt. Selten war politischer Rap so zwingend und zwanglos. Mit "Haut wie Pelz" veröffentlicht Apsilon jetzt sein langerwartetes Debütalbum. Die 14 Tracks setzen sich auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen und aus verschiedenen Perspektiven mit der Geschichte von Apsilons Familie auseinander. Es erzählt von seinen Großeltern, die aus der Türkei nach Deutschland gekommen sind, immer in dem Glauben, nur kurz zu bleiben und bald wieder in die Heimat zurückzukehren. Aber genauso geht es auch um ihre Kinder und um Apsilon und seine Geschwister. "Auf jedem der Songs geht es um unsere Geschichte, die Träume und Traumata, die schönen aber auch die schmerzhaften Seiten dieses Lebens. Einerseits sind es sehr persönliche und emotionale Themen, aber andererseits möchte ich diese Geschichte auch deshalb erzählen, weil sie auf viele andere Menschen und Familien in Deutschland übertragbar ist." Die Idee für "Haut wie Pelz" kam Apsilon nach der Veröffentlichung seiner Single "Baba" im letzten Jahr, mit der er sich auf berührende Weise an seinen Vater wandte. "Nach dem Release ist mir klar geworden, in welche Richtung das Album gehen soll", erinnert sich Apsilson. "Der Song hat mir aber nicht nur inhaltlich, sondern auch musikalisch ein ganz neues Selbstbewusstsein gegeben." Entstanden ist "Haut wie Pelz" deshalb gemeinsam mit dem Team, dass auch schon für "Baba" verantwortlich war: Bazzazian, Ralph Heidel und Apsilons Bruder Arman, der gleichzeitig auch als Executive Producer für das Album fungiert. "Haut wie Pelz" von Apsilon erscheint am 04.10.2024. Im November geht Apsilon gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder Arman und dem neuen Album auf große Tour durch Deutschland, Österreich und die Schweiz.

Emerging from the Uruguayan city of Canelones in 2017, Las Cobras introduced themselves with their debut album, 'Temporal', a 9-track release that quickly became a reference point in global psychedelia after signing with London’s Fuzz Club Records. A couple of years later, the duo—Leandro Rebellato and Sofia Aguerre—expanded to include Dario Macarín and Diego Mercadal, releasing their second album, 'Selva'.
In their debut, Las Cobras blended proto-punk and shoegaze with hints of afrobeat and Tropicalia. With 'Selva', the band amplified these elements, showcasing their evolving sound. Notably, their track "Al más Allá" is featured in the Amazon Prime series "La Cabeza de Joaquín Murrieta."
For their third album, 'Cárcavas', the band explores the concept of the cárcava—a scar on the earth symbolizing a period of desolation. Teaming up with London label 'Up in her Room', they present a darker, more chaotic record that reflects the tumultuous years they've endured. Most tracks were mixed by James Aparicio (Depeche Mode, Spiritualized, Throw Down Bones Grinderman), lending the album a sharper, more defined sound. Las Cobras continue to delve into their sonic palette, incorporating electronic drums, Latin percussion, penetrating synthesizers, and fuzzed-out guitars, all from a more stripped-down perspective.

Afrobeat virtuoso Seun Kuti is gearing up to unleash his latest musical masterpiece upon the world with the upcoming release of his album that will be set to make waves globally via Milan independent label Record Kicks. Coming 6 years after the Grammy nominated album ‘Black times’, this album marks a pivotal moment in Seun Kuti's illustrious career, showcasing his evolution as an artist and activist. Executive produced by legendary musician Lenny Kravitz and Fela Kuti’s original engineer Sodi Marciszewer (artistic producer), ‘Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)’ promises to deliver a sonic experience like no other. With both Kravitz's and Sodi’s expertise together with Seun Kuti's unmatched talent, the album is poised to redefine the boundaries of contemporary music while staying true to the roots of afrobeat. Featuring a tracklist of six electrifying songs, each track on ‘Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head)’ embodies the spirit of resistance, resilience, and revolution. In another song, ‘Love & Revolution,’ he expresses his love for his wife and believes that true love can inspire people to make the world a better place. “This project has been very special to me from the moment I conceived it, speaking to Lenny Kravitz, who has shown me such a brotherly love and respect” Seun says. “He has brought me to his home. I met his daughter Zoe and he has guided us with fierceness. Since we spoke about the album, three years ago, as the executive producer of this project, he has always been by our side and very supportive”. “I want to thank Craig Ross and Sodi, the producer of this project. We had a great time. It was the first time for me in the studio with Sodi and I was really impressed by his work and his fatherly advice and dedication”. Each song on the album is a testament to Seun Kuti's unwavering commitment to using music as a tool for social change and empowerment. Through his powerful lyrics and infectious grooves, he continues to carry on the legacy of his father, the legendary Fela Kuti, while carving out his own path in the world of music. As a musician and pan-African activist, Seun has been involved in a number of campaigns in recent years, including #EndSARS – a social movement against police brutality in Nigeria. Significantly, he’s revived the Movement of the People (M.O.P.), the political party his father set up in 1979, which was quashed by the military government not long after Fela’s failed presidential bid. Fans can expect an album that not only entertains but also inspires and ignites a spirit of activism and liberation. Seun Kuti is a Nigerian musician, singer, and songwriter renowned for his captivating performances and socially conscious music. He is the youngest son of Afro beat pioneer Fela Kuti. Seun has spent most of his life preserving and extending his father's political and musical legacy as the leader of his father's former band Egypt 80. As a developing saxophonist and percussionist, he entered the formal ranks of the band before he was 12. In 1997 when Fela passed, in fulfilment of his father's wishes, Seun assumed the mantle as head of Egypt 80 and he has run it ever since. During his career, Seun Kuti released 4 albums with Egypt 80: ‘Many Things’ (2008), ‘From Africa with Fury: Rise for Knitting Factory Records’ (2011), coproduced by Brian Eno and John Reynolds, ‘A Long Way Beginning’ (2014) and the Grammy nominated ‘Black Times’ (2018) that included a feature from Carlos Santana. They also released numerous EPs. Seun has played for enthusiastically receptive audiences globally and collaborated with many great artists. In 2022, he joined forces with Roots frontman and MC extraordinaire Black Thought in the EP ‘African Dreams’. In 2023, Seun collaborated on Janelle Monae's ‘The Age of Pleasure’ (Grammy nominee for Album Of The Year) with the two singles 'Float' and 'Knows Better', teamed up with Talib Kweli and MadLib for their album ‘Liberation 2’ on the song ‘Nat Turner’ featuring Cassper Nyovest and released a new version of the single ‘Bad Man Lighter’ with Black Thought, featuring Vic Mensa

Senking and DYL team up again after first collaborating for a track on 2020’s »Uniformity Of Nature« EP that also featured different solo productions by the two producers. »Diving Saucer Attack« is the first full-length record by the German artist and his Romanian collaborator, released through the Berlin-based Karaoke Kalk label, home to the former’s work for more than a quarter of a century. The six pieces, two of which were produced individually, both showcase the duo’s shared interests for dub-heavy, adventurous electronic music while also emphasising the productive friction generated by the subtle differences between their respective approaches.

Cluj-Napoca-based DYL, real name Eduard Costea, cites his colleague Jens Massel’s work and especially his »Ping« EP—released in 1999 through Karaoke Kalk—as a crucial point of reference for his own development. »He’s one of the producers who inspired me to start making music,« he says. Massel was already familiar with his partner’s eclectic productions when he was approached by him with the idea of collaborating for a piece in 2020. They didn’t stop there, as Massel explains »It went very well and ever since we’ve been sending each sounds and tracks.« As their first joint album, »Diving Saucer Attack« documents the multi-faceted results of this on-going process.

The album opens with a track in true Senking style. Throbbing bass frequencies, haunting synth melodies and carefully placed rhythmic elements form a slow, but driving groove. Before DYL’s »a7r380R« introduces the listener to his anthemic take on IDM, the collaborative second track »2024« showcases how well their respective philosophies complement one another: the two create a detailed soundscape in which an intricate interplay of percussive elements and melodies can unfold. The title track transforms rattling drums and growling bass sounds into a laid-back, spooky trip-hop tune with a live-jazz feel, while »Astral Project« sees the duo venture into the uncanny regions of dub techno. »Not Just Numbers« closes on an even more sombre note—a fitting closing statement to an album full of twists and turns.

»Diving Saucer Attack« is a special album on more than the musical level. Massel released his first records under different guises such as Fumble, Kandis, and Senking through Karaoke Kalk between 1997 and 2001, after which he focused on his work as Senking, putting out a string of iconic albums through raster-noton, among others. 23 years after his last Senking LP for Karaoke Kalk, 2001’s »Silencer,« his return is as non-nostalgic as you’d expect it from such a forward-thinking producer: together with DYL, he continues to explore the possibilities and outer limits of electronic music in an intergenerational dialogue.

Tim Tucker and Bachflora team up for this brilliantly boogie-infused new collection of cosmic disco sounds and future house delights. It's a collection that shows off their considerable songwriting skills as well as production chops as the tunes blend a far-sighted sense of futurism with a hint of melodic nostalgia. Some are part starters like the playful 'Star Key' while some are more laid back and funky sounds like 'Cosmic Dreaming, Now We Jamming!' American singer, songwriter and guitarist Boz Scaggs rose to fame in the 1970s with several top 20 hit singles in the United States. In 1976, he teamed up with a group of session musicians who would later form Toto and recorded his seventh album, Silk Degrees, which became a huge hit. The album reached #2 on the US Billboard 200, #1 in a number of countries around the world, and spawned three hit singles: “Lowdown,” “Lido Shuffle,” and “What Can I Say,” as well as the MOR standard “We’re All Alone,” which was later recorded by Rita Coolidge and Frankie Valli.

After spending the summer of 2013 touring heavily across the US, the band headed into Studio A in Philadelphia to self-record You're Going to Miss It All. From the perspective of people who categorize music by genres and types, Evan Shornstein, better-known under his production moniker Photay, has created lots of different kinds of sounds over the past decade. There’s the Hudson Valley-raised, Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist composer’s quasi-IDM and electronic almost-pop tracks with the occasional vocal; the improvised organic and and experimental music sessions he participates in alongside new age giants, Laraaji and Carlos Niño; the diaspora electronic folk-jazz he makes with veteran musicians from all over the globe; and the disco and house adjacent records he tag-team DJs with Brooklyn producer Cesar Toribio and engineer Phil Moffa (who also masters all of Photay’s records — and those of dance-music dons around the world). But if you’ve listened closely to Shornstein’s prodigious output, you know that separating and classifying the work is actually contrary to the energy of Photay music. That what on-the-surface may lazily appear as differences, is actually brought together by a shared sonic warmth, a hardware pastoralism at play. Whatever category he engages, Photay makes outdoor music under the spell of the elements, for the purpose of different human movements — some physical, some spiritual, some emotional, some philosophica.
