Nottingham indie sensations Divorce announce ‘Heady Metal’ EP, set for release November 17th via Gravity/EMI. Arriving hot on the heels of BBC 6 Music-playlisted lead track ‘Birds’ (alongside Arlo Parks, The Last Dinner Party & Miso Extra), the alt-country heavyweights are fast becoming a formidable presence throughout the emerging landscape, with an acclaimed summer festival run now under their belts (incl. Latitude, End Of The Road & Boardmasters), as well as highly-praised support dates with Self Esteem. Marshalled by songwriting duo Tiger Cohen-Towell and Felix Mackenzie-Barrow, the group’s forthcoming EP signals a closer collaboration than ever between the two bandmates, providing a striking portrayal of insecurity and questioning whether to trust oneself or your new surroundings. The character studies of debut EP ‘Get Mean’ are gone; in their place more vulnerable narratives about grappling with identity amid the new pressures they were experiencing following their phenomenal rise.

Frank Zappa was instrumental in getting former Mothers Of Invention member Lowell George and his new band, Little Feat, featuring Roy Estrada, RIchie Hayward and Billy Payne, a contract with Warner Bros. Records. The eponymous first album delivered to Warner Bros. was recorded mostly in August and September 1970, and was released in January 1971. Despite good reviews of their sophomore effort, lack of commercial success led to the band splitting up, with Estrada leaving to join Captain Beefheart's Magic Band. In 1972 Little Feat reformed, with bassist Kenny Gradney replacing Estrada. The band also added a second guitarist in Paul Barrere, who had known George since they attended Hollywood High School in California, and percussionist Sam Clayton (brother of session singer Merry Clayton and the brother-in-law of the jazz saxophonist Curtis Amy) and as a result the band was expanded from a quartet to a sextet. This new lineup radically altered the band's sound, leaning toward New Orleans funk. The group went on to record 'Dixie Chicken' (1973) - one of the band's most popular albums, which incorporated New Orleans musical influences and styles - as well as 'Feats Don't Fail Me Now' (1974), which was a studio-recorded attempt to capture some of the energy of their live shows. This recording was made in between the 'Dixie Chicken' and 'Feats Don't Fail Me Now' albums. Recorded live in Denver on July 20, 1973 at Ebbet's Field.

As soon as Spike discovered punk, he wasted no time forming Reptile Ranch (Wales’ own Scritti Politti), starting a label (Z Block), and releasing the compilation of the Cardiff scene, Is The War Over? After an act dropped out of the cooperatively-funded venture, Spike approached the disbanded Young Marble Giants to contribute a track or two. Bemused, they agreed to reform, and it wasn’t long before Rough Trade rang the public phone listed on the back cover of the LP to poach the combo, leading to an album which hit immediately and has inspired hundreds of artists since. All the while, Spike worked with Debbie Pritchard in a number of unheard bands - but that’s another tale. After YMG’s breakup, singer Alison Statton started Weekend with Spike and Simon Booth, a project which saw chart success and the birth of a nouveau-retro style as individualistic as YMG’s, one later co-opted by lesser acts. Weekend, too, split after their debut album. Despite Weekend having become Alison’s second big act, Rough Trade passed on her next project with Spike. Vinyl Japan stepped in to release the duo’s debut, Tidal Blues and other releases followed, but as real life, jobs, and children beckoned, both Alison and Spike stepped away from music . . for more than twenty years. Their return is both unexpected. Bimini Twist is the work of the two alone. Apart from some vocal tracking in a local studio to best capture Alison’s still wondrous voice - everything was recorded in their homes, much of it ‘live’, and these new songs show the duo’s charm and diversity, featuring Alison’s most personal lyrics and Spike’s peculiar musical genius

Ella Thompson’s Domino is a spooky, bittersweet collection of cinematic soul cuts influenced by 1970s Italian 'Giallo' film scores, with luminous vocals that draw a line between 60s icons like Nancy Sinatra and contemporary soul artists like Kadhja Bonet. Ella’s effortless singing and haunting lyrics paint angular pictures in the moody darkness.
The sparse production is intentionally cinematic, deeply influenced by the music of Italian ‘Giallo’ film scores of the 1970s, particularly by composers like Piero Piccioni but comparable to current artists like Adrian Younge or Bad Bad Not Good in a meditative mood. Minimal but propulsive bass and drums know when to hang back, as they do in the title track and when to step forward as they do in the chugging, deep and funky rhythm section work on the single Never Fight The Way You Feel.
All the instrumentation used in Domino was created by Frollen Music Library, a library music project by the musicians behind Karate Boogaloo, Henry Jenkins, Hudson Whitlock and Darvid Thor, all long-term collaborators and friends of Ella’s.
Ella returned to making music under her own name in 2023 after years of releasing music with her electro-pop duo GL and cult indie band Dorsal Fins. One of Australia’s truly accomplished singers, Ella’s range ranges from art music to cinematic soul, jazz, and pop. In addition to her solo project and bands, she has been a featured artist for numerous acts, most notably deep funk pioneers The Bamboos and Mark Ronson.

Die Bob Dylan World Tour 1978 markierte die ersten internationalen Konzertdaten des Künstlers seit 1966 und seine ersten Live-Shows seit der Rolling Thunder Revue, die 1975-76 durch Nordamerika führte. Die einjährige Tournee war ein internationales Musikereignis, bei dem Bob Dylan in großer Besetzung weltweit vor mehr als zwei Millionen Fans spielte. Louis Armstrong was a widely beloved American icon and cultural ambassador. On this vinyl some of his hits, o.a.: “What a Wonderful World”, “La Vie en Rose” and “Mack The Knife”’. LP 2 are live tracks performed on several different stages in Chicago, Germany, France and Sweden between 1956 and 1967.

Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie! is a studio album by “The First Lady Of Song” or “Queen Of Jazz” Ella Fitzgerald, with Lou Levy on piano, Herb Ellis on Guitar, Joe Mondragon on bass and Gus Johnson on drums. This LP is recorded on June 22 & 23 1961 in Los Angeles.

Although they were not Ahmad Jamal’s first recordings, the 1958 Pershing and Spotlite performances marked the beginning of his success. The original album At the Pershing/ But Not for Me, taped at the Pershing Lounge in Chicago on January 16 & 17, 1958, included eight of the 43 tunes played by the trio, which were carefully selected by the pianist himself. This splendid formation would last until 1962, for on August 11 of that year bassist Israel Crosby died of a heart attack. They had already played together under the name Part Four since 1967 and later in Latin American style under the name Los Caracas. Under the name Los Caracas they won the UK TV talent show Opportunity Knocks. They moved to Italy in 1970 because they had not found success in the United Kingdom. There they met the Italian music producer Giacomo Tosti, who gave the band their distinctive sound and gave them their international break.

On his debut 45, Junior Scaife shows us he's a vocal heavyweight whose prowess on the mic is tantamount to the pen. Backed by house band The Penrose Scholars and co-written by producer Anthony Masino, 'When My Heart Beats' is a bouncy stepper with feel-good vibes and groove in equal measure, serving up a Brenton Wood-esque blast of sunshine and soul. On the flip is 'Moment to Moment', a gorgeous, bluesy ballad with a vocal performance that transcends the trappings of lesser tunes, giving it a depth and serious-ness that takes you by the heart and mind to a place where longing and love reigns supreme.

The word "Maintain" is defined as `a condition or state of affairs; to provide with the necessities for life or existence.' To have the ability to maintain is to be able to hold fast to the unpredictable balance that is life, and to find a way to prosper through the most fluctuating of circumstances. LA Hardcore natives DOWNSET are no stranger to this concept, going on to use life's checks and balances as the inspiration for their first new album in almost 8 years: Maintain. Recently signed to world renowned heavy metal label Nuclear Blast Records, and having recently released reissued throwbacks of their original demos, DOWNSET have reawakened the passion of old-school hardcore within themselves, and have tapped back into the energy that fueled them from the beginning: life, death, love, hate, injustice_ and the streets.
