After collaborations with Merzbow and Daniel Avery, Alessandro Cortini (Modwheelmood, Nine Inch Nails) moves to The Point Of Departure for his third solo full length album. Alessandro Cortini today announces his third solo LP, AVANTI, due for release on 6 October via The Point of Departure Recording Co. Speaking about 'Perdonare', the first single to be taken from AVANTI, Cortini says: Perdonare embodies the often strenuous search for strength to forgive someone for their behaviour, when it becomes apparent that such behaviour is not conscious nor wanted, but merely a by-product of one's upbringing.There are few more potent examples of the power that music holds over our memories than hearing a song and being instantly transported back to a specific time or place. But what if we could change the soundtrack retrospectively If the scenes from our life played out on a big screen, how would we choose to score them It's an idea that Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessandro Cortini found himself preoccupied with on his latest album AVANTI.
Prior to making the record, Cortini rediscovered an archive of home videos made by his grandfather, who passed away a few years previously. Among the cache were several Super 8 films of family gatherings as well as hours of dinner-time conversations recorded on cassette for posterity. It was as if Cortini had unearthed a perfect fossil of his childhood. The films, however, were missing one crucial element - the sound. So Cortini decided he would restore the miss-ing audio in his own way, by composing a musical accompaniment to the footage.
As it turned out, Cortini had a few blanks to fill in himself. The films exposed some inconsistencies in his memories, moments that he romanticised or misremembered. But what surprised him the most was that the recordings appeared to be almost as fallible as his recollections - both showed signs of degradation. I really like that about memory and music, both from an instrumentation and playback point of view, I like imperfection,' he says.
AVANTI is rich in anomalies and irregularities - much like our memories - which Cortini let creep into his compositions by recording live on a single synthesiser, the EMS Synthi AKS, without overdubs. Just like the films, there are errors and mistakes in the music, some of which became the theme and some which are peculiar things that happen once or twice,' he says.

A relic by some standards but a pretty point of curiosity to others, slowly bobbing to the surface. Something ever-present and familiar to thousands, yet with mysteries left to be revealed. Bugsy hails from Milan where he is resident and co-host of the brilliant Take It Easy club night which brings many of the finest house DJ's to the city and remains packed week in and week out. With his featured producers Astroloop at his side Bugsy has come up with a quality debut loaded with fat, low-slung deep beats and Detroit-inspired grooves for Freerange entitled the Svegsy EP. The lead track sets the mood with mid-tempo loping beats that have 'Freerange' written all over them. We can't get enough of the simple yet satisfying warm-up vibe which oozes from this track. Understated, warm and relaxed yet with a bump and grunt which calls you to the dancefloor.
A2 is a track entitled New Vision where we find a straighter groove underpinned by a restless, pulsing, analogue bass and shifting block chords. With it's heads down attitude and simple, rolling arrangement this is Jimpster's personal favourite for banging on a big system. Flip over for the aptly titled Ghost Song. Here we get off-kilter vocals and fleeting glimpses of a melody which then disappear into the ether. All in all a slightly surreal yet groove-heavy track which has a charm of it's own.
Rounding off the EP we have Chicago house legend Boo Williams on the remix of Ghost Song, where he takes a minimal approach with a hint of acid but keeping his soulful touch. Enjoy!

It´s quite some years after Starburst , the first record on Internasjonal the japanese duo Traks Boys, consisting of Kawasaki based producers and Djs Crystal and K404 did for us. But a short 7 Years down the road the magic is still there. "Be With you" and "Weekend Lights" are mesmerizing, sparkling with creativity and beauty. "Be With you" is modern disco cut up of the finest while Weekend Lights is a hypnotic stringinfected warm groover that we can´t get enough of. Finally Weekend (Light) Lover and Friend of the House Axel Boman takes it all home in the biggest of ways.
Reduced with care and then build up again to one the neatest breaks that we heard this year.

Tripmastaz - Probably the only funky Russian you will ever meet. The only Russian artist with releases on Cocoon, Minus, Desolat, Cadenza. The only Russian artist with 4 vinyl labels. Hes funky housey remix is the most faithful of the four.
bpmf - Schmer label head provides a grimey and noisey big bottom Soviet style jam.
Steve Stoll - NYC Acid legend made a hard banging acid tracer.

In 1996 Serotonin label heads Selway and Szostek went to Moscow to perform at the invitation of Magazine. Synapse performed at the Waterclub' and met the legendary DJ Compass Vrubell. They went to his studio' where he had perfected the art of making entire tracks out patterns on the Yamaha DX-5. Szostek brought a DAT of these jams back to NYC and Schmer-003 DJ RX-5 A Taste for Crap' was released as a small run white label in 97. The run sold out and disappeared to be forgotten forever...

Until 2016 Szostek casually mentions its existence to Techno Uber-Nerd Nina Kraviz who just had to have it for her Fabric 91' CD. So DJ RX-5 was back from the ash heap of history and Schmer got a NEW release from him on Schmer07.

Then Schmer got the word out far and wide that they'd like a remix EP for two of the originals: Compass provided stems because like a miracle he still had the patterns after 20 years. Heeding the call were Pointsman, Tripmastaz, Steve Stoll and Schmer's own BPMF. So this is what you get: A Taste for Remix'. It will leave your lips wanting more, for sure!

Unsurprisingly, Richard Galling, does indeed hail from Milwaukee, having released disco inspired jams since about 2012. With his stuff getting plays on the likes of Beats In Space, he got his name out early. His latest offering is this single that features two original tracks and some remixes too. '303 features the eponymous bass machine all over this deep, arpeggio-heavy tech-disco jam, 'Organ' swaps the 303 for a classic Robin S-style house organ, and 'Prophet' adds some big room bass. Also included is a Prophet version of 'Clear Water", a real late 80s, Shep Pettibone-style, Latin house joint. Luke Solomon's Body Edit, is absolut Dancefloor HEAT !!!!

The dark jazz masterpiece by Piero Piccioni written for the film directed by Paolo Heusch in 1962, played by Franco Citti and taken from the novel under the same title written by Pier Paolo Pasolini. Produced and made by CAM on a rare and sophisticated LP, the music of Piero Piccioni for this film embraces the jazz big band's frantic pulsations, directed by the Master - who sits on the piano - with symphonism and the best popular Italian melodic tradition brass, dart, bows and rhythm.

Recently, Superpitcher was invited to go on a safari in South Africa. He bought a custom made safari hat at his favorite milliner in Cologne (Ju¨rgen Eifler) and set off with big eyes and a pair of binoculars. It was wild and wonderful and he saw many exotic (and big!) animals, even a leopard in a tree that told him the secret of the universe. He forgot what the leopard said because his mind was still playing and replaying the sound of what he heard on the first night of his arrival - the hypnotic and moving sound of the voices of Africa, the voices of the wonderful Tanda Tula staff choir. There, the choir members work during the day at the camp and at night entertain the guests with their captivating voices and energetic dancing. So impressed was he with their songs and beautiful Shangaan language that he decided to record a CD for them to sell in the shop at their camp and now this precious recording is also available through Hippie Dance / Bush Recordings on vinyl and CD for you in whatever wherever camp you are. The LP of the Tanda Tula Choir comes with a very pretty poster.

düsseldorf based tolouse low trax formed 'twirl' into a foggy dark mpc-seducer for romantic nighthawks that love dancing.
also australian boy dreems prepared a remix that grooves odd and uncommon. his percussive version of 'im feiern und feuer' is a slow whirlwind, perfect to start and end a great dj night.
with tuff city kids a duo formed a remix that is good for big room love affairs. their version of 'purple hill' is a heartfelt melange between trance and house deepness that works on any dance floor.
the final edit comes from glasgow's junto club, who transformed 'comola', a tune that they already produced originally with sascha funke, into a longing dark melodic synth stepper.

The visionary Turkish percussionist and the great South African bassist were introduced by Don Cherry in 1969, when Dyani moved to Sweden after the break-up of The Blue Notes. They worked together regularly over the next decade, starting out with Cherry in the Eternal Ethnic Music trio.'Another world,' recalls Temiz. 'At that time I was trying to learn as a big band jazz drummer, and when I met Don Cherry, I said, forget it. We played another kind of music. Indian music, Turkish music, Bulgarian, Chinese, you know... All kinds of music.' 'Every musician,' Dyani said later, 'should realize and acknowledge that folk music is the backbone of every music.'Recorded in Istanbul in 1976; originally released in an edition of one thousand copies only, on the Turkish label Yonca. he Copenhagen based pop wonders Blaue Blume return with a new EP - 'Sobs'. The band formed around 6 years ago in a provincial Danish town, drawn to each other's love for rich, playful music. Blaue Blume (blue flower) is the epitome of a romantic band, their songs are brimming with love and yearning. Now 'Sobs', the follow up to their 'Syzygy' album in 2015, continues to build their reputation as a best kept secret, about to find a whole new audience of devotees. All four tracks for the EP were recorded in late 2016 in a three story villa, formerly owned by a religious cult. The band used the weird space away from the city to create a framework for the lyrics and the music. The band explains: 'Blaue Blume has been our band for about 6 years. In a bigger provincial town we started playing right out of highschool. At the moment we live in Copenhagen and every day we play, write and work on sounds. It's sort of become a life project. In our heads we make music that is playful, rich in detail and popish or somewhat smiling. For some beautifully inexplicable reason we ended up doing music together. In a way it seems sacred or at least meaningful. Macabre is a happy song about being afraid of dying. Some of us find that even the best life can be lonely sometimes. We found it interesting to address this taboo within the frame of a song that people could potentially dance or sing along to.

Remixes from Ruede hagelstein & Amin Fallaha, Scuba, Julien Bracht and Tom (Alt-J) Hymn to the Night is the debut album from rising electronic post-punk duo, Lea Porcelain. The album was writt en and recorded over a two year period in Berlin's FUNKHAUS, a broadcasti ng house created under Soviet supervision that now houses the world's biggest recording studio. We are proud of what we have made and we have learned a lot through the process,' recall the band. The spectrum of the album is extremely wide.

Every song works together, playing with very different moods. We would describe it as atmospheric, cinemati c and melancholic'. For the 4th release from our beloved 'Ourselves' they've once again invited a group of friends to serve us up a healthy dose of tasty House and Disco. This time, originaltracks from Luvless, Snacks, Siggatunez und Jan Ketel are on the menu.

For starters we have Luvless from Leipzig whose prepared a floor stomper with a side of heavy drums paired with a warm chords- and stringsounds and a groovy bassline... completely love.
The Berlin duo Snacks appear for the first time on Ourselves with their track 'Sisters'. A delicious Disco snack that sounds like an effortless kitchen jam with an extremely funky aftertaste - you're tastebuds will be dancing. Hand played bass sprinkled over percussion, guitar licks and building up synths....hopefully you like your snacks authentic...they muste be true musicians...they are!!
The one love disco & funk and the other jazz...so does Siggatunez. He cuts us up a vibraphonline and sends it on the chase with a chord so delectably deep that not even the side of fat drums can keep up with the bounce and speed it creates but finally gets it and breaks down the club.
Jan Ketel has prepared a desert that at first, tastes like a mere groovy tool but it soon opens up into something bigger and more hectic. It's like you gotta check in at Charles de Gaulle while in anothher moment the unmistakable flavour of a lush warm Rhodes appears...a timeless flavour, and one that you'll never forget.

VERY strong track listing with some of the biggest Motown hits ever - should do very nicely going into Christmas gifting area and beyond as a strong catalogue seller.


[B] A2 | Dancing In The Street - Martha Reeves & The Vandellas

Next we have Italian duo Mattia & Marco, aka Dubfluss with this super 2 tracker, which also includes an outstanding remix by the master iO Mulen. Big support from the likes of Franco Cinelli and more.

From the twilight zone of Rhythm Section International comes a new label for 2017: INTERNATIONAL BLACK. This is the offshoot's 3rd release this year and the machine shows no signs of slowing down. Bradley Zero's ear for new talent continues to pay off as we are introduced to yet another young pair of producers, Mallard & LT, going by the name of 'J DEEP'. Mallard, a 19 yo Jazz student who made a big splash with his debut RS INTL EP, 'Verte', returns with a track aimed more squarely at the dancefloor. Although hypnotic and ethereal, it packs a punch, with the arrangement and musicality belying Mallard's
musical training at Trinity College.
On the flip side, Mallard joins forces with another promising producer who goes by the name 'LT' in their collaborational partnership known as J.Deep. Complex jazz chords swim around 909's to create an elevating techno roller that climbs and climbs only to give way to sparse rave stabs and ecstatic snare patterns.
Tried and tested for the best part of a year, these are 2 serious jams, proven to cause dancefloor frenzy.

RAWAX welcomes Patrick Raddatz, Robin Scholz and Philipp Boß R&S-B&S collective to the Family! Robin Scholz already showed us his talent with the debut ep called "retrospective ep" on the RAWAX 10 inch series (10.5) also on RAWAX004LTD together with Einzelkind as Rhythm Factory and last but not least with label boss Robert Drewek as RDRS on HOUSEWAX (H1004). Philip Boß is the label owner of high rising "Einfach Hören" label which entered the record stores some weeks ago. Patrick Raddatz is one of the old school dj's from Frankfurt. Active since 2 decades known from the famous X-Fade nights on Radio X and of course of his "Everglade reshape" on Weave Records which was 2005 a very big club hit all over the world.

This new production is a fantastic demonstration of advanced space electro & ambient - worth to check!
