The second chapter of Sentry's compilation series is reaching the long-awaited light of day and furthers the notoriety of its lauded artist congregation in the typical high-grade style. Moving into the last quarter of 2020 and from strength to strength with each release, the imprint welcomes plenty of fresh faces to the revered artist roster, such as Arkham Sound, Karnage and Muttley among others. Bridling amid the commotion, returning champions like Cimm, LSN and Substance, as well as the label boss Youngsta himself untether their respective supreme vibrations. To be released as a digital long-player alongside a four-track vinyl sampler.

Two dubstep veterans unite, Nomine & Youngsta join forces for Sentry Records latest release. ‘Ascension’ is a collection of different styles & energies spanning 140bpm. From the Dub influences of ‘Courage’ & ‘Foundations’, the meditative soundscapes on ‘So Within’ featuring Anima and ‘Hidden’ featuring Lelijveld through to the darker dance floor leaning sounds of ‘Journey’. Modbox returns with a fresh release on his own label, Castanea Records, delivering the Cosmic Wind EP. This release moves through the realms of tech house, acid, neo trance, and broken beat, creating a textured sound that reflects Modbox’s forward-thinking approach to electronic music.

The EP opens with'Cosmic Wind,' where atmospheric layers float over a steady groove, setting a hypnotic, introspective tone. 'Acid Galaxy' follows, bringing sharp acid lines and raw energy to the forefront, offering a punchy, floor-focused experience.

On the B-side, Arno reworks 'Acid Galaxy' into a deeper, more hypnotic journey, adding subtle shifts in rhythm and expanding the track’s immersive qualities. 'Flow' rounds out the release with its broken beat structure, delivering a refreshing change in pace and a more experimental, layered vibe.

The Cosmic Wind EP showcases Modbox’s ability to blend rhythmic complexity with atmospheric depth, making it a versatile addition to any DJ’s collection.

Over the years, El Kazed's sound has become more refined, but you can still recognise his own touch.

On that matter, the A side is a prime example : DeePulse and Yunni perfectly blends that famous FM bass with dreamy pads and a strong 90s Italian house influence.

On the B-side, The Positive stands out with a more club-friendly vibe. Our friend Lea Lisa did her own version of it, driving it even more in that direction.

A Madrid-based label is set to release vinyl-only music, focusing on microhouse, rominimal, and deep genres. Our concept emphasizes the "simplicity" of minimal music, paired with classy and elegant designs and aesthetics.


The EP features three tracks, each embodying deep cultural and atmospheric elements, including Romanian lyrics and layered textures. Fat Dubs highlights his taste, resulting in a work rich in both cultural significance and personal expression.

Paddan's Sigtryggur Baldursson and Birgir Mogensen are lifelong friends from Kópavogur, Iceland, who started as mates on the local football team, then graduated to making music together as teenagers, and even later as young men doing time in the experimental punk collective KUKL, from 1983 - 1986.
KUKL was populated by survivors of the post-punk scene in Iceland in the early 80s, which is well documented in the film Rock in Reykjavik from 1982. The band was released by the Crass collective in London and featured members, apart from Birgir and Sigtryggur, like Guðlaugur Óttarsson, Einar Melax, Björk and Einar Örn, some of whom would become better known later in outfits like the Sugarcubes and their respective solo work and other collaborations.
Sigtryggur has a long career in music, having worked with among others, Emiliana Torrini, Howie B, Les Negresses Vertes, Tomas R. Einarsson, Petur Ben, KK, Kaktus Einarsson, and many many others. He also produces an award-winning documentary music show for RUV called Hljómskálinn.
Birgir Mogensen is a classically trained classical guitarist and bass player who has worked through the years with artists ranging from KUKL to Killing Joke to Spilafifl and Inferno5.
Birgir and Sigtryggur formed Paddan during the 2010s, and are now preparing to release their EP Fluid Time, which has been inspired by their perception of time and space. Birgir Mogensen says, "As a duo, we trusted our musical intuition and were guided by allowing the first idea to remain unchanged during the recording process"Recorded, produced, and arranged by the pair, Sigtryggur and Birgir play basses and drums along with various other instruments.
All recordings are played on live instruments except a modular synth which is programmed in the background of two tracks The duo is joined by the great harmonica and lap steel player Gaukur Davidsson on "Vaguely" and "Bug," and trumpet player Eirikur Orri Ólafsson on "Splash," not to mention the mixing expertise of Vaccines bassist Arni Hjörvar Árnason on "Bug," "Splash," and "Kokka," and sound-mixer Albert Finnbogason on "Vaguely."

Fresh off a rework of Papa Levi with single Ribena, London’s jungle pioneers 4am Kru drop their highly anticipated debut album Incognito Rhythm featuring all the tracks that have cemented their reputation as the go-to act for raw, live jungle music.

Having already taken the 2024 festival circuit by storm with appearances at Outlook Origins, Boomtown, Boardmasters, Reading+ Leeds, The Blind Tiger, Parklife Waterworks, Boundary and a milestone Saturday night closing set at Glastonbury’s Temple Stage, 4am Kru continue to draw audiences into the madness of their raucous blend of 1993-1994 influenced jungle. First bursting onto the scene post-lockdown, the falling monitors and flying bodies of their shows were particularly thrilling for ravers who had turned 18 in isolation.

Originally developing their live sound in indie bands while sharing a studio in Tottenham, the duo quickly realized that the traditional DJ set couldn’t contain the energy of their act. They have since surrendered to the chaos of their incredibly physical performances, nursing chipped bones and back injuries, deep finger taping, chalking up and wearing shoes designed for skipping rope whilst rewiring what it meant to move their bodies. Their innovation extends to the equipment, with the duo reinventing a way to deliver their signature throbbing basslines with a Roland SPD SX drum pad as thick as a car tire. Their upcoming UK tour this October promises to further showcase their immersive, disruptive sound.

4am Kru’s latest single Ribena breathed new life into Papa Levi’s iconic British reggae classic Militancy following the release of hard-hitting Wutt this past July, setting the stage for their most ambitious project yet. Their debut album draws from a wide range of influences in addition to 4am Kru’s signature blend of 90s jungle flavours, from obscure slow jam R&B like Angela Bofill, Janet Jackson and Prince, early hardcore bands like Hüsker Dü, off kilter Scottish folk, and even classical music. The project is a snapshot of the incognito, nocturnal world that the duo have dwelled in for the past two years, a time capsule of well-worn songs played between midnight and 4am. An extraordinary debut, 4am Kru’s Incognito Rhythm is an immersive, razor sharp, face melting journey through their show-stopping live sound.

Les Imprimés is back in the studio working on their sophomore album and treats us to a smashing two-sider with the first two songs from these sessions. The A side "With You" is an instant hit for the DJs and dance floors. An uptempo, uplifting tune about a eeting encounter that leaves you craving more. Frontman Morten Martens doesn't waste a word over the shuffling drums and dancing piano lines. He sings about the pleasantly surprising impact of a chance encounter with a woman, whom he winds up pining for. Martens longs for her, but joyfully, as if just remembering such a connection is possible is what he really needed. The B side "Only Love" is built over a gritty, punchy drum break with a chorus that is simple yet profound, and the arrangement leans into the message. Martens sings of letting go of inhibition and fear and allowing love to have a chance to thrive. "Only love can set us free_"

_NRV returns with a new EP from Miller. A regular at DC-10 Ibiza and Fabric in London, Miller continues to impress with his dynamic range and deep understanding of the dancefloor.

A1, "Liquid Realm," echoes the pulse of early 2000s Nubreaks with driving breakbeats and a modern twist, delivering a track that will resonate with nostalgic fans and new listeners alike.

B1, "Hydrate," shifts gears into a sleek, futuristic soundscape. Crisp percussion, deep ocean melodies, and a groove-driven bassline create an engaging play between tension and release, pulling the listener in deeper.

B2, "There Are Tribes Out There," transports us to a primal, rhythmic space. The subtle mix of organic influences and modern production distances the track from easy categorization.

Miller's ability to flow between styles and genres while pushing sonic boundaries is on full display.

Grover Washington Jr, Hydra. This jazz classic finds its first time on 45. Released in 1975 with arrangement and keys by Bob James it’s no surprise to hear an infectious head nod groove under
GWJ’s sublime sax licks. The drums have been sampled over 100 times from ATCQ to Biggie, but
most will recognise the bass hook obviously sampled by Black Moon
for their underground hip hop classic “How Many MC’s”.
Seals & Crofts, Sweet Green Fields. Never before on 45, the Californian soft rock duos’
album cut can easily slip by most diggers. The familiar staccato bassline will have your neck snapping, while a proggy folky riff floats over head. A slightly extended DJ friendly intro showcases the
bass and drum hook sampled for Busta Rhymes’ 1997 hit “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could
See”.

Moton takes its time to select the best tracks for it’s loyal but hungry fan base, however, this EP was worth the wait. A killer 3 tracker cleverly edited from vaults of much respected don of the scene, Ghosted Edits, aka David Hill. The A side is an 80’s style boogie disco dancer to destroy the better floors, flipped with an infectious gospel vocal dancer that will have you singing out loud, alongside a wonderful soul 2 stepper with a touch of Balearic goodness! Proper pool side vibe. Enjoy.

Barkley Bandon’s debut album “Love Machine” is a sexy concept album, perfect pop record and an experimental look at club music all in one.

Hard to pin down stylistically, it’s visiting multiple spaces on a colour spectrum, with hues of Sophie’s hyperpop, Hudson Mohawke’s cheek, the nostalgic shades of Oneohtrix Point Never, a nod to Dean Blunt’s DIY aesthetic and maybe flirting a little with the of Teaches of Peaches. But really, it’s carving out a sound all for itself that is like nothing else out there.

The mysterious London producer recently contributed a song on CASISDEAD’s chart topping, Brit Award winning debut album ‘Famous Last Words’ and has worked with London RnB vocalist Gloria on her release Metal, which came out on Gaika’s label The Spectacular Empire.

Working here, on in his own playpen, he shows off his pop production skills on tunes like ‘Green Light’ and ‘Nails’ (collaborations with rising artist Kaleab Samuel from Aurora, Colorado) and ‘You Decide’, a collab with pig$ - the incredible producer from LA who makes up the other half of their joint project Parking Big. Then he flips the approach, stuffs a bunch of percussion sounds in a box, shakes it and lets clanky club bangers like ‘Vertigo’ and ‘Eye Candy’ tumble out.

Fronting the cover we see Barkley’s real life wife as a teen dream - his ultimate Love Machine.

The album will be released on 25.10.2024 on his own label Laterhosen Records on digital and limited cassette tapes.

"Killer edits!" - Gilles Peterson

Monologues boss Ben Gomori has found acclaim far and wide with his official edits of African gems for labels like Sterns Music and Analog Africa (for artists including Orchestra Baobab, Amadou Balake, Oby Onyioha). Here he rounds up four of his reworks of tasty tracks from artists across the Afro-Caribbean spectrum on four edits licensed from the good folk at Mr. Bongo, Soundway Records and Analog Africa.

South African legends Marumo's joyous 'Khomo Tsaka Deile Kae' gets a good juicing, full of triumphant energy, while Black Truth Band's infectious 'Umbala' is stripped back to a slinky, bumping disco groove. An exuberant slice of 1980s Camerooon comes from Emmanuel Kahe Et Jeanette Kemogne on 'Ye Medjuie', where rousing trumpet refrains meet undulating bass funk. Peter Britto's gorgeous lo-fi soca anthem 'I Want Your Love' rounds off the package, its sweet melancholy given an extra bit of energy for maximum dancefloor effect.
