Lizkis zweites Album 'Losing Grip in a Chaotic World' macht schwere Themen mit Pop-Appeal etwas leichter.
Schon der Opener überrascht mit funkelnd-fröhlicher, tanzbarer Popmusik, die klarmacht, dass wenn schon untergegangen werden muss, dann gefälligst mit fliegenden Fahnen. So geht es weiter, wenn auch inhaltlich nicht gerade leichte Kost verhandelt wird, etwa Selbstzweifel 'Bit My Lips', 'Water' und -findung 'In Between', Liebe 'Back Out Alive', 'Wicked Way', 'Happiest Girl' und wie man trotzdem glücklich wird 'Rigged Game', 'Something Good'. Es treiben die Beats, die Synths zirpen und quietschen, der Bass rollt, die Hooks brennen sich in den Frontallappen und das alles wird zusammengehalten von Lizkis klassisch ausgebildeter Stimme, die manchmal gerne etwas ins Theatralische abgleitet, wie um klarzumachen, dass es dann mal genug ist mit Zusammenreißen und In-sich-Reinfressen.

Auf ihrem zweiten Album begibt sich die singapurische Dreampop-Band BLUSH auf die Mission, makellosen Pop zu kreieren, der die bittersüßen Momente des Lebens erkundet. Mit komplex komponierten Stücken, die zwischen Traumlandschaften und unberechenbaren Klängen schweben, verwandelt das Quartett Herzschmerz in etwas trügerisch Befriedigendes. Dieses neue Album ist das erste der Band seit ihrem Debüt ,Supercrush" aus dem Jahr 2023 und präsentiert eine verjüngte BLUSH-Besetzung, wobei die Stammmitglieder Soffi Peters (Gesang) und Daniel Pei (Bass) Darell Laser an der Gitarre mit ins Boot holen. Der langjährige vertraute Kollaborateur Jared Lim kehrt als Produzent und Gitarrist zurück.

Singer, songwriter, humanitarian, activist, poet, philosopher, artist… ever since music lovers first became aware of Labi Siffre in the early 1970s subsequent generations have continued to discover and be beguiled by his timeless artistry. To this day, his music has endured – seemingly as relevant and contemporary as when first released. It was these qualities that led Madness to cover his 1972 UK hit ‘It Must Be Love’ in the early 1980s, and Eminem and Dr. Dre to sample a substantial chunk of ‘I Got The…’ for the former’s debut hit ‘My Name Is…’ in 1999.

Also, this decade, they might have been drawn into Labi’s world via another film, ‘Companion, or the TV shows ‘Better Call Saul’, ‘Sweetpea’, and ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’. To bring things bang up to date, they may have been among the legions who liked, shared, and saved ‘Bless The Telephone’ after its unforgettable soundtracking the season 4 finale of bitter-sweet comedy phenomenon ‘Hacks’. ‘The Best Of’ is the definitive Labi Siffre collection for the ages. Released on 2LP and 2CD formats, it was personally sanctioned by Labi himself who also provided art direction for the package.

The 3rd and final chapter in Cochemea's epic quest to explore and express the spiritual connection between his art and ancestry. For Vol 3: Ancestros Futuros, Cochemea entrusted his vision to a core group of longme collaborators-a powerful octet composed of New York-based percussionists and members of Daptone's famed rhythm section. Gabriel Roth (aka Bosco Mann) reprised his role as producer, recording and mixing the album live to 8-track analog tape. Cochemea continues to push the boundaries of his sound, blending past, present, and future into a ritual offering-an evolving sonic narrative where memory, survival and creativity converge.

"Nomads" marks Koyla's introspective return, blending cinematic ambient, acoustic percussion, and deep electronic textures. HMGRWN Welcomes up and coming Dutch talent Jamback to the label. With his debut EP which includes two tracks that have been huge peak time plays for ROSSI. over the past few months. The A1 is 'Can't Resist', a track with captivating vocals and gritty baselines, a track that has taken over dancefloors across the world this summer - On the B1 is 'Attention' a peak-time track with a groove heavy drop, with garage influences... A track made for peak-time moments that has seen much attention itself throughout the summer already!

Identified Patient returns to Dekmantel for a third time with his Reset EP. The future-facing four tracker is another mutant fusion of bass and techno with low-end power with cerebral sound designs.

Job Veerman debuted on the Dekmantel UFO Series in 2019, returned in 2020 and has lit up the festival several times with transportative sets that balance power with precision. Like his productions on the Nerve Collect label, he co-runs with Gamma Intel, they are leftfield explorations of genre and tempo that find strange sensuality in often abstract ideas. Once again here, the Dutchman draws on eclectic influences to craft music that sounds like no one else but remains anchored by magnetic rhythms.

Opener 'Light' kicks off with a fuzzy synth line that slithers between syncopated drums. Whispered vocals drift through the mix as lurching basslines swell and collapse beneath them. The groove disassembles and reassembles in waves, propelled forward by bursts of glitchy, off-kilter percussion that's unsteady yet seductive. 'Scales' is a slow, menacing descent into rhythmic darkness. It sounds both ancient and futuristic with ghoulish vocalisations and filtered synths flickering like a badly wired circuit. There's a rave tension lurking throughout, but always in the shadows.

'Internal Pace' drives on but rides fluid, wobbly bass while tightly looped hits build the pressure. Layers of static and subtle distortion add grit to this unrelenting heads-down roller. Finally, 'Return' is a kinetic, razor-edged ride where jungle breaks collide serpentine melodies. Ethereal female coos drift in and out, brushing against spat-out vocal fragments so that tension crackles throughout this hallucinogenic trip.

With Reset, Identified Patient reaffirms his status as a singular voice who twists sound into evocative new worlds.

Und auch "Storno" treibt vehement nach vorne: ein unwiderstehlicher Beat aus Schlagzeug und Bass, störrische Gitarrenriffs, breite Soundflächen, Freejazz-Artiges vom Keyboard: Hier spielt eine Band, die mehr sein will, als ein nostalgischer Krautrock-Gedächtnisverein. Die Kunst wird hier nicht für die Kunst gemacht. Es geht um etwas. "Kein Schlussstrich" hält das schnelle Tempo - überhaupt ist "Energie" eine Highspeed-Platte, die nicht an Energie verliert. Im Gegenteil: Sie nimmt weiter Fahrt auf, verbindet reine Spiel-Energie mit der Lust am Experiment. Wie bei "Straßennamen", wo Einseinseins zeigen, wieviel Freude es machen kann, über einen interessanten Beat zu improvisieren.

Jahr ihres Bestehens zu toppen. Das neue Studioalbum hat alles, was ein moderner Klassiker braucht. Die Bandbreite der Songs pendelt mühelos zwischen Psych-Pop und ausgiebigen psychedelischen Eskapaden. Die Songs haben dabei einen hohen Wiedererkennungswert. So klingt echter Neo Kraut Rock.
