mini-series such a success, there is new interest in Quincy Jones’ original
soundtrack to the ground-breaking 1977 mini-series.
Highlights include the “Roots Mural Theme,” composed by Gerald Fried, and
the 28 minute, ‘Roots Suite,’ with Letta Mbulu as the featured vocalist. Plus
the stunning “Main Title: Mama Aifambeni” as sampled by Moodymann and Andrés.
Also included are snippets of dialogue from Roots actor Lou Gossett. Featured
players include: Shelly Manne, Victor Feldman, Ernie Watts and Lee Ritenour.

For Delinquent Delivery's second release, Nathan Jones and Label boss Stephen Mahoney step up for a split Ep entitled Pulsate.
- A side see's Nathan deliver two cuts, the first being Pulsate the title track. It's haunting as it is stomping and infectious in it's groove, something for most record bags. A2 Nathan delivers a forward marching monster that's sure to wreck any club it meets, Red Shift is the name and it is in fifth gear all the way.
- B side see's Stephen Mahoney take the reigns, Faculty X delivers in it's simplistic groove that winds and twists keeping you glued to the floor. B2 Intropception is Detroit influenced with a synth hook that grabs you, strings hover through as the groove is relentless.
The Missing ink between her Barry and Columbia singles, 'I Can't Stant It' b/w 'Only Yesterday' is Thelma Jones with her back against ther wall of an empty and indifferent Holidsay Inn lounge and nothing to lose.Washed out of thde recording business by the age of 30., Jones and her then-husband/manager James Hazley relocated to Tampa to work the hotel circuit and figure out what- if anything- was next. Following a cvhance encounter with Blair Mooney, Jones was invited to workshop a few stray originals at his studio 70 compound in 1972. 'He seemed to believe in me more than I did at the time, 'Jones remembered of the Tampa Studiop impresario. Jones signed with Columbia a few years later and hightailed it out to The Big Guava, leaving two sides of country-politican soul on the shelp to be forgotten about. This Eccentric Soul 45 is a first time issue, carrying the banner of Mooney's Gimp label and mastered directly from the original analog tapes.

'source Of Conflict' Is A Poised Dance Between Pulsing Ambient Textures And Drilling Beats, While 'lurk 101' Pits A Volley Of Abstracted Juke Toms Up Against A Hammering Drumline. 'babyboysosa' Feels Like Drum-less Drill, Manipulating Vocals Into Strange Alien Shapes Over A Bassline Before Spiraling Toms And Hi-hats Start To Form A Forceful March. The Ep Concludes On The Love Anthem 'and You Were One' With A Chipmunked Vocal Running Through Its Wonky Chorus Of Bent Notes And Chords.

Far from basking in Bay Area bliss, Sunshine has been busy redefining his organic approach to music making and sound synthesis into a rich and textured fresh take on the House blueprint - best realised in his elaborate & ever-evolving live shows.
Assembling these improvised pieces into a cohesive whole, that might well just be the best vinyl based representation off a full night out you're likely to hear this year.
From the emotive opener to last year's anthemic 'Fall In Love, Not In Line' closer, Home represents the fluid but refined garden of sound that's grown from Dubtribe's rich 90's foundation.
The artwork on this splendidly presented gatefold LP is a photograph of Sunshine performing live at the Garden Party in San Francisco by The Holy Mountain, the collage is done by Sunshine and the design is by Fernando_Graphicos. Accompanied by detailed track notes, with all equipment used to make the record alongside sonic schematic. Man and machine aligned for total transcendence !

Laura Jones returns for another EP outing on her label. Despite weighing in with an incendiary first release that found Mandar's SAM remixing Infuse's Karousel and a follow up from Jones that included one of the sadly departed Trevino's final remixes, the label took a backseat to the birth of her daugter in 2017. A year on however and the pace has picked up with an EP from renowned modular wizzard Kamran Sadeghi at the start of the year and this latest EP from the label boss. The two originals are a snapshot of her evolving style. Pathway places skippy beats and sub heavy kicks under a soaring chord sequence, abstract vocal samples and ethereal pad riff. Tough Crowd takes a moodier approach with a menacing sub bass and drum arrangement, bubbling filters building to a hook that unfolds halfway through to create a moment of formidable intensity. Lee Renacre's recent revival of his 100 Hz alias courtesy of well received outings on Slow Life and Bosconi among others, has found the producer on career-best form and he turns in a sublime remix that makes deft use of delicate top lines and bubbling oscillators to create a powerfully heady atmosphere.

Two covers from the Numero catalog that are earth shattering. "You And Me", a tune originally by Penny & The Quarters is reinterpreted by the current kings of sweet soul, with drummer Aaron Frazer taking the lead on this one.
