Les Rallizes Dénudés returns with Disque 4 -’76 Studio et Live-, the latest in the ongoing series of official archival releases from the celebrated Japanese underground band.

In 1991, Les Rallizes Dénudés released what would become the only official albums issued during the band’s lifetime: ’67-’69 STUDIO et LIVE, MIZUTANI / Les Rallizes Dénudés, and ’77 LIVE. What no one knew at the time was that Takashi Mizutani was already deep into preparing another record.

Disque 4 reconstructs the track list Mizutani had put together for that fourth album. This includes the single “White Awakening," recorded in 1976 at the studio in Takadanobaba BIG BOX as part of the sessions that would become known among collectors as the “Virgin Demos.” Production and mastering of this archival release were handled once again by Makoto Kubota, assembling the album from the masters left behind by Mizutani, utilizing newly discovered tapes as additional sources.

Prepared by Mizutani using a variety of formats, including U-Matic, open reel, and DAT, the tracks were originally labeled with working titles such as “Disque 4” and “Record No. 4,” indicating that Mizutani intended them for inclusion on a possible fourth album. The recordings were taken primarily from studio sessions that all seemed to have taken place around 1976, which aligns with the claim that Mizutani himself once made that “there exists an album of studio recordings made with the same members as ‘77 LIVE.” His notes also suggest an attempt to sequence the tracks as a vinyl LP, splitting them into A and B sides. It's not hard to imagine that in the era of CDs in the early 1990s, an album on analog LP would have been an extremely difficult sell. Thus, the “Fourth Album” had become another lost piece of the intricate Rallizes myth.

Les Rallizes Dénudés may be notorious for the colossal volume and extended song lengths in their live settings. But this work, centered around studio recordings and condensed onto a single LP record, transcends the common impression of the band’s aggressive flood of noise. Instead, the “lyricism” at its core emerges with striking clarity. And needless to say, this is precisely the charm of the Rallizes that continues to captivate fans worldwide today.

Denn wenn die Antwort auf eine der beiden Fragen ,Nein" lautet, was machen wir dann hier überhaupt?

Erstauflage als "Sparkle Starlight Vinyl" 2LP mit Etching auf der vierten Seite. Im technischen Sinne war jedes bisherige Album des französischen Trios SLIFT eine Fantasie - ein Mix aus Genres und Formen, der es der Band ermöglichte, zu improvisieren und so lange zu jammen, bis sie sich scheinbar gemeinsam ins All zu winden schienen. Ihr gefeiertes drittes Album, "Ilion" aus dem Jahr 2024, war eine Science-Fiction-Geschichte, aufgebaut aus 10- bis 13-minütigen explorativen Eskapaden, die oft mit Doom Metal oder Stoner Rock begannen, bevor sie sich frei in glorreiche instrumentale Vergessenheit drehten. Doch mit einer gewissen absichtlichen Ironie heißt SLIFTs viertes Album tatsächlich "Fantasia". Es ist ihr bisher schlankstes und direktestes Album. DMV-born rapper and producer kuru is already a veteran among their contemporaries. Spurred by the online renaissance that accompanied the pandemic, they began to foster a cult following while in high school, their Soundcloud releases leading to production work with artists such as Black Kray and Destroy Lonely. Over the past few years, as Kuru began to prioritize their own voice, they prioritized their solo endeavors. Growing up in Maryland, kuru was inspired as much by the work of Future, Hikaru Utada, Yuyoyuppe, and the sounds of Japanese math rock as he was by his native DMV’s rap scene. He first began making music in 2019, garnering buzz with early tracks like “clueless”, “typo” (4M Streams), and “atmosphere” (9M+ Streams) — cuts brimming with the catchiness you’d expect out of a mainstream pop hit, but uncharacteristic of the internet rap landscape at the time.

The forthcoming sophomore album is a summation of all of kuru’s work in both electronic and hip-hop. It’s the artist’s most focused effort to date, and touts credits from Lucy Bedroque, frequent collaborator xaviersobased, and a rolodex of Soundcloud’s most cutting-edge producers. “Backstage Hologram” ties together a mosaic of the current internet underground’s landscape with a veneer of dusky futurism, and panoramic wide post-production.

Roger Sanchez announces his new studio album ‘SPECTRUM’, marking his first full-length release in two decades. The record is following on from his 2006 LP ‘Come With Me’.

Six years in the making, ‘SPECTRUM’ features a wide range of collaborators, including Fedde Le Grand, Karen Harding, Donae-o, Kelli-Leigh, Kele Le Roc, Chico Castillo, Aaron Sevilla & Kristen Knight, Escala, Carnao Beats, Stealth, Leo Wood, and Melanie C. The announcement comes alongside the release of a new single, ‘Temptation’, a collaboration with Low Steppa and Ragdoll.

Speaking about the track, Sanchez said: “Teaming up with my brother Low Steppa was a perfect merger of our New York to London roots. And working with Ragdoll for the first time was a joy… She absolutely kills it on the vocals! This is currently one of my favourite tracks in my box to set off the dancefloor and one of my favourite collaborations.”

Earlier this year, Sanchez shared ‘Come My Way’, the only solo production on the album. He noted that recent summers spent working in London played a role in shaping the record’s direction.
