Minimal Wave presents the 2017 Repress of the full length LP by French duo Deux. Gérard Pelletier and Cati Tete formed Deux after meeting in Lyon in 1981. Their music can be described as minimal synth with stripped down rhythm compositions and suitably cold duets. Their influences are a perfect blend of Kraftwerk and French synthpop. Between 1983 and 1992, they released a cassette and several rare singles : Felicita / Game & Performance and Europe / Paris / Orly. They also appeared on the V/A BIPP LP (2006) and most recently on V/A The Minimal Wave Tapes: Vol 1 LP. The album features newly remastered demo tracks as well as their best studio recordings. Wewantsounds is delighted to reissue another Warda classic from the 70s, We Malo, originally recorded in 1975 by the legendary Arabic Diva who has sampled by Jay-Z and J Dilla. The album blends traditional Arabic music with 1970s grooves, showcasing Warda's distinct vocal style. She is accompanied by a full-sized orchestra, updating the classy traditional sound with modern instruments (electric guitar, organ). We Malo was penned by composer Baligh Hamdi. This reissue features newly remastered audio, original cassette artwork and a two-page insert with a new introduction by Mario Choueiry from the Institut du Monde Arabe

The Bluebells' Sisters is a perfect snapshot of early '80s "Sound of Young Scotland": Glasgow indie pop with bittersweet spirit, sharp hooks, and heartfelt harmonies. Signing to the then-nascent London Records, and working with a procession of esteemed producers (including Elvis Costello who became a mentor and teacher to the band), The Bluebells enjoyed three UK hits in the 1980s ('Cath', 'Young at Heart' and 'I'm Falling') before touring widely throughout Europe and North America, developing their live sound and signing to Seymour Stein's Sire Records in the U.S.

A decade later in 1993 that 'Young at Heart' hit the U.K. No 1 spot following its use as a T.V. advert for Volkswagen. Fast forward to this decade The Bluebells have reformed with a flurry of shows across the past two years including a triumphant return to Glasgow at Barrowlands for Celtic Connects, and just announced for the Acoustic Stage for Glastonbury Festival 2025.

This new edition of Sisters has been remastered and produced in consultation with the band, using the best audio sources available, including non-album singles and B-sides, bonus tracks from the original cassette edition and new liner notes from Will Hodgkinson.

The strength of Fan Club Orchestra's (FCO) trajectory lies in their nebulous, collaborative, and experimental nature, always with Laurent Baudoux at the centre. With its roots in the DIY impulses of the Brussels art and music scene of the late nineties, Baudoux rallied together a revolving cast of players with an unconventional ensemble of instruments to explore melancholic psychedelia that touched on drone and minimalism as readily as it carved minor pop hits from cracked electronics. Performances were often highly improvisational, aided by the barely controlled chaos that guest collaborators—such as American artist Mike Kelley—would inject into an appearance.

FCO self-released two albums in the early 2000s before finding a home with Sonig, where they released several more records up until their last with the label in 2013. This was a fitting frame as Sonig, like FCO, channelled the fervour and formalism of the experimental music history of the Rhineland, which includes Kraftwerk, krautrock, and key early electronic music studios.

Following an eleven year hiatus, Laurent Baudoux reassembled the group in 2024 and presented a new album with the esteemed Glaswegian label 12th Isle late in that same year. Building on the strength of the new iteration, and with the aim of reappraising some of the rich yet oblique history of the group through this new lens, FCO have remastered and reissued their 2013 album, 'An Insane Portrait'.

The recordings were originally commissioned in 2009 for Fabrizio Terranova's film 'Josée Andrei, An Insane Portrait' about the truly remarkable figure Josée Andrei. Shot in San Francisco, the film is an intimate portrait of Andre. Blind from birth, she is a witch, painter, photographer, tarot reader, and psychology and modern literature graduate.

'An Insane Portrait' captures a stripped-back FCO, with Baudoux working solely with original FCO member Ann Appermans. The configuration of Baudoux's electronics and Appermans' bass guitar yield a tender and preciously melodic suite of instrumentals.

Originally released on vinyl by Sonig in 2013, the remaster will again be presented by the label in a limited cassette edition and in digital formats, each featuring a bonus track that was not included in its original release.

Décima Víctima were a Spanish-(Swedish) band that, during their short-lived career between 1981 and 1984, developed a very personal sound reminiscent of Joy Division, The Cure and other British post-punk bands. Although commercial success evaded them, rarely has any Spanish band achieved such a high degree of quality and coherence in their music and personality. This LP contains previously unreleased tracks recorded by Décima Víctima in November 1983, one month before their last concert. Seven of these songs feature different lyrics to the ones later recorded for the "Un hombre solo" album. This is the way they performed them that night on the Rock-Ola stage, so this record can be considered, to some extent, an approximation to their last show and to their powerful live sound. After many years a rehearsal session that DV had recorded on an old cassette tape has been resurfaced. It had originally been laid down on a four-track recorder but unfortunately the tape got lost.The story of these tracks goes back to the last weekend of October 1983, when DV went to record at friend Paco Trinidad's family home in the mountains north of Madrid. Paco recorded the latest songs on a four-track tape recorder at the house. It was done live, except for extra takes of clarinet and some guitar details. The garage sound, as the name suggests, was achieved in the garage and an adjoining room where the drums were played. The sleeve design is a photo montage of our performance for the Maqueta de Oro (Gold Demo) at the Diario Pop awards in March 1983, plus another photo of the band in the dressing room at Rock-Ola after playing our last gig. The directness and passion of the tape makes it an interesting item for collectors and fans and the fact that some of the lyrics were not the definitive ones is an added rarity that reveals the development process for the following LP "Un hombre solo".

Just a year after her critically-acclaimed album Still, Erika de Casier returns to surprise release her fourth album Lifetime.

A sonic moodboard fully written and produced by Erika herself, Lifetime is a testament to de Casier’s singular taste—her ability to pull from the past, to curate sonic and visual references with intention, and to transform them into something uniquely hers. Thoughtfully composed yet effortlessly cool, Lifetime is an album that resonates, proving that Erika’s vision isn’t just about what she creates, but how she makes us feel when we listen.

She began dropping breadcrumbs about the record last month, Erika mysteriously putting a limited set of nameless cassettes up for sale on Bandcamp. Even with no context of what was on it, the tapes quickly sold-out in under thirty minutes and fans began to speculate new music coming. As cassette deliveries began to pour in last week, their theories proved correct. Derrick Gee streamed the cassette live on his channel and fans online began freaking out as they put the pieces together (see here and here!). That so many rushed to embrace the music before even knowing what it was speaks volumes — Erika isn’t just admired, she’s trusted, and with Lifetime, she rewards that devotion in the most Erika way: subtly, stylishly, and on her own terms.

Lifetime follows last year’s aforementioned album Still, which was named one of the Best Albums of the Year by Pitchfork, Stereogum, NPR, Vogue, Vulture and more, and features Blood Orange, They Hate Change, and Shygirl. The album took her on a world tour including a US run that included both weekends of Coachella. She also released one of the best songs of the summer shortly after in the form of “Bikini,” a track with her frequent collaborator Nick León (“Ex-Girlfriend,” “Friendly” Remix) that was named the #1 song of the year by The FADER and Resident Advisor.

Borghesia is an electronic music group, founded in 1982 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The band was formed by four members of alternative theatrical group Theatre FV-112/15: Dario Seraval, Aldo Ivancic, Neven Korda and Zemira Alajbegovic. They established FV Video to self-publish their video projects and FV Založba – the first independent record label in ex-Yugoslavia. Aldo and Dario took care of songwriting, production and recording while Zemira and Neven handled the visuals. In the late 80s the band signed to PIAS and went on to release a string of successful albums and played world-wide tours.

Clones was Borghesia's second album, self-released on cassette only in 1984. The band borrowed synthesizers (Roland SH-101, Casio VL-1, Korg Polysix) and a Roland 808 drum machine from friends. Every song was played live - no overdubs - and recorded to a cassette deck over a few nights at their club Disco FV during 1983-1984. The music on "Clones" is meant to accompany various video installations and performances. All of the songs are instrumental and feature various cutting edge techniques for 1983. Hypnotic, proto-techno and acid rhythms and synth lines. Music on the A Side of the LP is faster and club oriented while the B Side offers a drugged out soundtrack to get lost in.

All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley directly from the original master tape. Each LP is housed in a silver jacket with original gelatin print by photographer Jane Štravs. A fold-out poster is included with unreleased photos, original artwork and liner notes by Željko Luketić. After 28 years, Borghesia's "music for video" is finally appearing on vinyl for the first time.

Glasgow-based Effective Dreaming—the solo project of Scottish artist and musician Iain Ross—unveils Dream Catalogue Vol. 1, arriving June 21st, 2025 (Summer Solstice) via Swedish experimental label Fluere Tapes.

Issued as a limited run of 50 cassettes, each adorned with hand-worked, corroded copper sheet inserts and labels, Dream Catalogue Vol. 1 feels less like a release and more like an unearthed artefact: weathered, humming, quietly alive. The materials echo the music’s exploration of fragile impermanence and erosion: oxidised metal, magnetic tape, hiss, hum. A tactile world where sound wears its decay like a patina.

Across its length, the album unfolds in a series of flickering vignettes—drifting, dissolving, reappearing. Shaped by synths, environmental recordings, tape loops, and soft drones, the pieces move like glints of light on water—never fixed, always in motion. Achingly beautiful melodies rise and vanish, tracing fragile pathways through a landscape of shifting sensations. Some moments glow with a gentle warmth, like sunlit glass or breath on a fogged mirror. Others slip into shadow: slow, submerged passages feel closer to memory than music. The album feels loose and weightless, yet dense with feeling—a presence more sensed than held.

There is no fixed narrative here—only fragments and artefacts, half-remembered places, echoes of dreams. Each track hovers just at the edge of clarity, evoking not specific stories, but moods, textures, and the quiet drift of time. It’s music that feels both intimate and remote, like overhearing a distant signal only you can understand.

The name Effective Dreaming is drawn from Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Lathe of Heaven, where a dreamer's visions alter the very fabric of reality—past and present reshaped, histories rewritten, unnoticed by all but the dreamer himself. In a similar spirit, Ross’s music inhabits a space where memory, perception, and matter blur—where each sound carries the residue of something once real, now transformed and dissolving as one drifts through the seams of the world.

Dream Catalogue Vol. 1 is a meditation on texture, transience, and the quiet resonance of what slips away.

Grown through collaboration, Samuel Savenberg’s EP As Bright as a Burning Star stands for a music that evolves and becomes newly tangible in the very moment of performance.
The live EP captures a concert by Savenberg and his band, recorded at the 2024 B-Sides Festival on Sonnenberg near Lucerne. In this setting, the concert with his close musical companions takes on a life distinct from the studio recordings it draws upon, casting the music in a new light: more immediate, vibrant, and warmer.
As Bright as a Burning Star features newly interpreted pieces from Unsung—Savenberg’s 2023 album released via Präsens Editionen—alongside two new songs. The title track had existed in a similar form since 2016 but had never been released—until it was rediscovered by chance during preparations for the concert. The second new piece, "Expressions of Regret", features vocals by Remo Helfenstein, a longtime friend and fellow Präsens Editionen artist.
As Bright as a Burning Star is a labor of love—shaped by shared musical histories and lasting friendships. It is available on cassette tape, for streaming and as a digital release via Präsens Editionen.

Samuel Savenberg is a composer and producer based between Lucerne and Berlin. Following the release of Unsung in 2023, he has presented selected remixes and live performances—the latter mostly in a band setup—and collaborated with other artists, taking on a variety of roles.

Founded in 2011 in the process of launching zweikommasieben, Switzerland-based publishing house and music label Präsens Editionen has released music on vinyl, cassette, CD, and digital formats—alongside magazines, books, and other printed matter. Benét betrachtet sein neues Indie-Rock-Album „Make `Em Laugh“ als eine Art Clue-Spiel. Er versucht herauszufinden, wann und wie genau eine Beziehung gescheitert ist. „Make`Em Laugh“ ist ein Dokument der Entdeckung und Selbstverwirklichung, das eher Fragen als Antworten enthält und Benéts Fähigkeit, viele komplexe und widersprüchliche emotionale Zustände zu durchlaufen, prägt auch den Klang der Musik: Das Album ist dynamisch, lebendig und genreübergreifend. Seine warme Stimme glänzt in nachdenklichen Indie-Rock-Stücken wie „Pieces Of Me“ und „Demon“. In „Too Scared to Say“ setzt er Autotune ein, um ein Gefühl der Verwirrung zu vermitteln, ein Gefühl, das in dem experimentellen elektronischen Stück „Slimmer“ noch verstärkt wird. Italia 90: "This LP is a collection of the three EPs we released on cassette from 2017 to 2019. They were our first three releases and they sketch the development as a band in its early years. We released these EPs ourselves and each cassette had a very limited run of only 50 copies, so we’re really pleased to have them remastered and available on vinyl for a wider audience.
We hope that some of these tracks will be granted a new lease of life and will be fresh discoveries for people that enjoyed our debut album, Living Human Treasure, but who haven’t heard our earlier work. There are also some tracks here that we’d rather forget all about: it’s fair to say that on this LP you can hear some of our best and worst music. We’ll let you work out which is which. Neo Gibson, born in Virginia and based in New York City, records, performs, and produces as 7038634357. This numerical alias, under which Gibson has been releasing work since 2016, offers a window into the careful ambivalences of the musical project. It conjures the impersonal_the opacity and randomness of data, a number that is hard to remember or even say out loud_while also suggesting a direct line of communication with the artist, down to an area code indexing their biography. 7038634357 uses a restricted palette to achieve music that is formally precise and emotionally direct. Their digital-native approach to production, in which frank melodies cross paths with heavy distortion, contains traces of both trance's maximalist arcs and a songwriterly intimacy. Expressive details may appear submerged or abraded, subjected to a canny sense of dynamics and textural specificity. Waterfall Horizon, Gibson's second vinyl record with Blank Forms Editions under the moniker 7038634357, was written for live performance and workshopped over successive shows during their 2022 European tour. Here, hallmarks of their earlier, studio-crafted recordings_digital distortion that obfuscates their lyrics and a slow-burning ambience_are noticeably pared back.
