Some things are just too good to be hidden from view. That's certainly the case with Things To Think About, the first album from Dutch electronic music legend Steve Rachmad's lesser-known Sterac Electronics project.

Rachmad first rose to prominence in the late 1990s, spearheading a surge in Dutch techno that was heavily inspired by the futurist intent and machine soul of Detroit. Since then, he has continued to successfully explore a wide range of dancefloor-centric electronic styles under a dizzying array of aliases.

It's a while, though, since the public has been treated to a heavy dose of Sterac Electronics material. He first established the alias at the turn of the millennium, primarily as an outlet for hardware-driven electro music shot through with funk and soul.

A handful of highly regarded 12' singles were released on Music Man and Interpersonal XP, before Rachmad began focusing on other projects. When inspiration struck, he returned to the project, jamming out tracks using a mighty collection of vintage synthesizers and drum machines.

Recently, Rachmad and Tom Trago decided to revisit the Sterac Electronics archive, discovering a killer collection of cuts created at different points over the course of the last 15 years.

Now 9 of those spellbinding hardware jams have been gathered together for the first time on Things To Think About, a warm, rich and evocative collection of electro-fuelled workouts that giddily pay tribute to the music of Rachmad's youth.

From the thrusting, synth-driven machine funk of Original Pattern' and mutant electrofunk revivalism of Game Changers', to the baggy West Coast boogie of Metratron' and intergalactic hustle of Archetype' (which sounds like Cybotron covering the 1988 version of The KLF's What Time Is Love'), Things To Think About is an lesson in the emotion-rich, mood enhancing possibilities of spontaneous hardware jams.

The highlights don't stop there, either. Check, for example, the crystalline synthesizer melodies, body popping drum hits and spacey chords of Tuning Into Frequencies' and the breezy humidity of opener Altruistic Endeavor'.

Like the rest of the tracks on the album, they feel timeless, as if they could have been made at any point during the last three decades. From Steve Rachmad, we wouldn't expect anything less.

Things To Think About will be released as a limited-edition double album, preceded by a 12' single featuring another previously unheard gem from the vaults.

Lisbon-based duo Garoa—formed by Brazilian musicians Raphael Soares (drums, percussion) and Henrique Dias (piano, synthesizer, guitar, percussion)—craft an evocative soundscape that merges Afro-Brazilian rhythms with ambient textures. Their latest release, recorded in May 2024 at Estúdio Fetra, presents a free-flowing exploration where harmonies and rhythms unfold organically, avoiding rigid structures and embracing improvisation full time.

The album’s compositions are anchored by the interplay between Soares’ fluid percussion and Dias’ expansive harmonic approach. Tracks like “A Sandália Quadrada de Lampião” and “Xaxado de Chicago” weave percussive patterns reminiscent of Brazil’s Nordeste, blending them seamlessly with atmospheric synthesizers. “Baião de 2” and “Farofa e Cachaça” carry the unmistakable swing of Brazilian traditional forms, reinterpreted through Garoa’s lens of modernity and free flowing spontaneity.

Produced and mixed by Kellzo, the album captures the spirit of a collaboration that thrives on fluidity and openness. Garoa doesn’t aim for definitive statements; instead, they invite the listener into an evolving sonic landscape, where tradition and experimentation walk hand in hand.

Chris Reifert & Danny Coralles began Abscess after their infamous gore metal band Autopsy disbanded in the mid 90's (before resurrecting in 2009). Chris started his career with the highly influential extreme metal band, Death. The line-up was completed by Clint Bower (Guitar/vocals), with Joe Trevisano joining on bass for the band's later releases. In October 2009, Abscess descended upon the famous Fantasy Studios, CA, to record the follow- up to their 2007 Tyrant Syndicate album, 'Horrorhammer', with engineer Adam Munoz. 'Dawn Of Inhumanity' was released in 2010, leading the listener on an unrivalled nightmare of raw experimental extremity, whilst also including special guest vocal appearances by the Nocturno Culto & Fenriz of Darkthrone. 'Dawn of Inhumanity' was to be the swansong release from Abscess, leaving a legacy of twisted, dirty punk/ death without limits !

Featuring 10 of his own compositions, Grossi's renowned virtuosity flows with deep sensitivity through various genres, reflecting the solid trajectory of one of the greatest instrumentalists and most creative musicians in Brazilian music. Collaborating with prominent names from both the national and international music scenes, 'Plural' showcases Grossi's music without borders, offering the world a glimpse of his extensive career. For this celebration, outstanding guests were invited to join the musical journey. Several tracks also highlight Grossi's sensitivity as a songwriter and lyricist. In 'Onde Nascem as Ondas', Ed Motta delivers a soulful ballad carried by his distinctive timbre. Zelia Duncan, sings a unique samba in 'Nosso Amor Vadio' with a captivating cadence. 'Chamego no Salao' captures the spirit of north-eastern Brazil and is brought to life by Lenine's vibrant voice and joyful interpretation, adding a playful tone with a jazzy touch. "I only want a date" wurde ebenfalls im Rahmen der Studio-Sessions für das letzte Sator-Album aufgenommen und ist ein Coversong der US-Band "The Embarrassment", die den gesuchten Song 1984 nur auf Tape veröffentlichten. Die 10inch EP erscheint streng limitiert in klassisch schwarzen oder blauen oder in limitierten zweifarbigen Swirl Vinyl und dürfte sich schnell als Sammlerstück etablieren. On “Reflection”, Hooverphonic’s second album with vocalist Noémie Wolfs, they return to a natural analogue sound. Alex Callier and Raymond Geerts didn’t just want to record in a studio, but at fans’ homes to get the specific reverb “Reflection”. Therefore, in early 2013, Hooverphonic launched an appeal to their fans to enrol potentially unique homes in the ambitious concept of “Hooverdomestic”. Ultimately, five locations were selected, four in Belgium and one in France. The result is the most infectious and cheerful album Hooverphonic has ever made. In addition, Noémie Wolfs is assisted on the album by three new vocalists/instrumentalists, who give an extra sense of space to the songs on Reflection.

Project Pat, the older brother of Three 6 Mafia’s Juicy J, is a legend in the Memphis rap scene. He began rapping in the 90s with Killa Klan Kaze and released several independent mixtapes. In 1999 he released his debut album Ghetty Green via Hypnotize Minds/Loud Records. In December of 2000, he released a new single and video “Chickenhead” which blew up on the charts and led to the release of his second album Mista Don’t Play: Everythangs Working. Mista Don’t Play produced by Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul and Juicy J was certified Gold a mere two months after its release.
