Shaw Cuts is happy to present its third release, which includes 4 tracks produced by Farron under the title 'Death Duel'. The story of this chapter is simple: The Third Master is respected as the unrivalled and undefeated swordmaster of the day. His strength and skill saw many opponents who sought to slay him and win his title. All failed. There was only one rival who might sever his crown. It is only a matter of time until the ultimate duel... 'We Don't Make No Sense' rings in combat with a dirty break-beat drum pattern combined with deep, melancholic pads, circling the scene before one of the masters makes the first attack. Warmer in tone, 'Tangency' is the first intermission, a lull in bloodshed and impending annihilation. Short-lived... The B-Side brings back battle mode with 'Centro', a rough and rolling thunder with churning synth action and distorted drums. The duel ends with 'Par 2', its sharp percussions, goliath bass drum and spheric pads reverberate victory. An open breast and sword glazed red. Fatal hemorrhage...

SHMLSS consists of Bart and Michiel, two young Dutch guys who connected with each other through the Disco sound they both love. Always searching for those rare gems in dark, dusty old record stores, they often come home with the same records. Their dj sets are diverse and they have developed a particular sound. Resulting from the interesting mix of their personalities you can expect Disco cuts, Africa beats, Ambient stuff and industrial House grooves. Always carrying the latest (or oldest) vinyl's, they always find a way to surprise the audience and themselves with quality disco minded music for open minded music people.

This special release revisits classic Brothers' Vibe tunes, edits and a never before released on vinyl track. Kicking off proceedings is the 1989 gem "I Ain't Gonna Wait". An early Brothers' Vibe piece and massive underground anthem! Brothers' Vibe distinctive gritty style of groovy house takes us on a hypnotic journey into uncharted territory. Melody and percussion interchange amongst a framework of zippy synths and sinuous kicks. Released under the moniker Silent Rodgerz, the second track "Infractions" saw the light of day back in 2008 solely in digital format on a MixxRecords compilation. Low slung with an acid influence, the cut reveals a distinctly natural groove lead by the classic bassline. The final track is the definition of a house classic!! Featuring echoing words of the great Maya Angelou, "Words To a Nation" exudes a timeless quality, unveiling a masterpiece which stays firmly in your head...

For the second release, the artist Kaelan joins the ranks of the squad of Shaw Cuts with the EP 'The Silent Swordsman'. Equipped by his sharp stabbing weapon and a mysterious fighting technique taught by the head chief of the Sun Moon Sect Master Wu himself, Kaelan strikes out to hunt. Not hectic but silent, so watch your back!
The chase starts off with 'Latch', a straight techno banger with swirling chords and thrusting percussions that can easily slice the villain's face into pieces. Bloodbath.
'Claw' already gives hint to another weapon of Kaelan just by the track's name. Filled with filtered moving chords and vigorous and intense drums, this tune would be the perfect soundtrack for the final fight between two kung-fu masters, surrounded by befogged dead bodies lying on some mossy floor.
On the B-Side, Farron bolsters up the silent swordsman with a more break-beat orientated version of 'Claw', filled with energetic clap combos, subtle pads and big bass drum hits.
The whole EP is topped off with the track 'Hasen', a beautiful journey into ambient music with a touching atmosphere.
Mission completed. The carnage continues

For this first volume, French Fries teams up with NSDOS on a hypnotic jam, bringing Chicago's percussive legacy in a 90's NYC ballroom. Then we got Aleqs Notal going deep with a new batch of his lunar material where tripping synths meet spaced out hi-hats. On the flip Jean Nipon provides his drummer background to display some infectious rhythms colliding with a shuffling syncopated bass, while Barbara Ford takes us through a heavy mesmerizing acid jam tunnel... Overall a deep and yet club-material experience representing perfectly what ClekClekBoom has to offer today.

Fresh his Keysound D&B opus Blue, Sully returns to Astrophonica with four pristine slabs of breakbeat science. "Flock" places the full strength melodic elements over the faraway amen echoes in a way that's not dissimilar to early Good Looking. "Helios" is a much colder flashback to the darker corners of jungle's formative dance; all breathy minor key chords and vapour trails of paranoia countered neatly by a precision dub vocal sample. "Crystal Cuts" recalibrates the focus to the drums by way of broad jazz chord strokes while "Hours/Miles & Still" concludes affairs on an emotional electronica tip where the breakbeats thanks to a beautifully arresting intro. Powerful.

Samples
Choosing the right samples for our record was the major focus for this release. We wanted DJ's to standout from the crowd, so spent considerable time getting vocalists and secessionist in the studio to record some very individual samples for DJ's to use.
Skip Proof Technology
'Skip proof' technology - is a way of recording scratch records so that they do not skip from one sample to another. This is achieved by first calculating the time it takes for one revolution of the record (1.8sec). Once you have this information you can then customise your DAW to that specific measure (133.3333bpm). Then layout your samples so they repeat at the start of each bar.
Extra Deep Grooves
The record plant cut extra deep grooves perfect for the more aggressive style of scratching we all love (these will not jump). Making sure the weight of the vinyl was correct giving that nice feel and long lasting audio sound.
