The Flaming Lips, for example, have recorded a Davies song and backed him up on a Moles tour in 1995. A scholar of the songwriting of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Dylan et al., Davies spins off subtle, catchy indie rock melodies, sometimes reassembled in bizarre Frankenstein arrangements and deconstructed sonic derangements. On Composition Book, The Moles have evolved with emphasis on acoustic guitar and divine female voices. Like so many bands that cut their teeth playing basements, rental halls, and teen centers around the Puget Sound in the early '90s, the Olympia trio Lync may have had similar roots to the local rock heroes of the era but were conscientiously averse to the trappings of mainstream success. Lync kept the grit, the shouted vocals, and the rough-hewn choruses, but eschewed the machismo and metal swagger. Their song 'Cue Cards' is a perfect encapsulation of their overall approach-heartfelt melodies, bashed drums, hoarse throats, gritty bass lines, and fractured guitars. Lync's legacy was interwoven with fellow PNW artists like Modest Mouse, 764-Hero, and Red Stars Theory-bands that were crucial to the foundation of Suicide Squeeze Records. It only made sense for Suicide Squeeze to reissue Lync's lone LP, These Are Not Fall Colors back in 2023. And in conjunction with the reissue, Suicide Squeeze is proud to announce the second single featuring a choice cut from Fall Colors paired with a current artist's reinterpretation of the song. On their latest 7", Lync's original version of 'Cue Cards' is paired with a cover by Julia & The Squeezettes-a Suicide Squeeze-centric all-star line-up featuring Julia Kugel of The Coathangers and Julia, Julia, Staz Lindes of The Paranoyds, Bonnie Bloomgarden and Rikki Styxx of Death Valley Girls. On their rendition, Julia & The Squeezettes excise the half-time distorted bombast of the original in favor of up-tempo minimalist pop. Guitars are reduced to a few choice phrases, putting the song's luring vocals and lyrical charms at the forefront. Paired with the tasteful yet propulsive rhythm section, this new approach to 'Cue Cards' demonstrates the timeless songwriting of Lync while simultaneously showcasing the creative vision, timbral aptitude, and resourceful production savvy of four contemporary artists in the ongoing lineage of American indie rock. Suicide Squeeze is proud to release these two versions of 'Cue Cards' to the world on a pressing of 500 Ocean Blue-colored vinyl 7" singles.

Los Angeles-based experimental jazz collective High Pulp will release
their new album Days in the Desert in peak sweltering summer heat on
July 28
The titular desert is both literal and metaphorical: it's the Mojave Desert that the
band powers through on their many DIY tours around the country, and the band's
founder / drummer Bobby Granfelt perceives the desert as "a spiritual quest" as
well. Amid the trials of our present moment, you must look within, relying solely
on your own instincts to keep moving forward. "You're in the desert and it's a long,
lonesome process and a lot of times you have to check yourself to ask 'Is this
right? Is this good? Is it too out?'" he says.
High Pulp's Days in the Desert makes this vision come true, finding the West
Coast band fully emerging into their own sound. Rooted in the jazz tradition while
also smitten by indie- rock and electronic music, High Pulp was willing to grab
from all these sounds at once to pursue something truly their own. Their third fulllength album (following 2022's promising Anti- debut Pursuit of Ends), Days in the
Desert reveals the band realizing their strengths, deepening their own bonds, and
pushing all these skills into a thrilling new sonic vista all but unimaginable just a
few years before

Retrofuturism, outer space and limitless exploration are the central themes of Cesar Quinn's second album, "HELO".They incorporate influences from contemporary hip-hop experimentalists like The Alchemist and Armand Hammer, while also revisiting the space jazz of Sun Ra and the ambient probings of Terry Riley.



"HELO" was self-produced by Frederik Daelemans, with co-production contributions from Aram Santy and Youniss. LA-based mixing and mastering engineer Zeroh (associated with Injury Reserve, Liv.e, Pink Siifu) added his hip-hop flair, enhancing the band's sound into a cohesive, sample-inspired experience.

Features play a significant role in "HELO". The first vocal feature is Antwerp artist Youniss on "SMOKE," followed by New York vocalist Semiratruth, who energises "QUASAR." The collaboration with Belgian jazz saxophonist Mattias De Craene, long discussed but never realised on the debut album, finally materialises on "MARS," where he explores a range of saxophones, creating a rich tapestry of sound. The standout feature is undoubtedly Detroit rapper Zelooperz, whose verse and chorus on the title track "HELO" fulfilled a long-held aspiration for the band, given their admiration for his work with The Alchemist and Earl Sweatshirt. Finally, Zeroh lent his deep vocals to the ambient track "BOOTES," further uniting the album.

zwei Klavieren, Saxophon, Gitarre. Lieder von Lift, Karat, Biege, Bartzsch, Bicking und Lakomy. Sänger und Pianist Manuel Schmid sorgt auch mit
eigenen Alben in der deutschsprachigen Musikszene für Aufsehen und hat 2024 mit der EP „Die Himmelsscheibe von Nebra“ die Stern-Combo Meißen
wieder in aller Munde gebracht. Saxophonist Marek Arnold ist in der internationalen Progressive-Rock Szene längst eine feste Größe und hat
gemeinsame Alben mit Steve Hackett (GENESIS), Jon Anderson (YES) oder Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER) veröffentlicht. Das vorliegende
Konzertmitschnitt wurde von ihm bearbeitet und gemixt. Sänger Dirk Zöllner und der Pianist André Gensicke arbeiten seit November 1987 zusammen
und gründeten im Juni 1988 ihre Bigband „Die Zöllner“. Sechzehn Alben erschienen in den vergangenen 35 Jahren. Zöllner veröffentlichte außerdem
vier Bücher und engagiert sich als Kolumnist der „Freien Presse“ für einen friedvollen gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt. Das Raue und das Weiche,
das Improvisierte und das Klare – schon mehrfach kam es zur Symbiose der sehr unterschiedlichen Stimmen von Dirk Zöllner und Manuel Schmid. In
Zeiten von Corona veröffentlichten die beiden ein Wohnzimmerkonzert mit besagtem Liedgut. 2024 wurde die Symbiose nun live erlebbar und als
Mitschnittfestgehalten.

"Porœs" ist das erste gemeinsame Album des Elektronikmusikers und No-Input-Mixing-Universalgelehrten Simon Grab und des Schlagzeugers und Komponisten David Meier, Mitglied der renommierten Avantgarde-Minimal-Rockband Schnellertollermeier. Der Sound von Grab & Meier ist roh und unbeständig und wechselt zwischen messerscharfen, rollenden, bröckelnden, unberechenbaren und wilden Zuständen. Er balanciert zwischen Meiers organischem Schlagzeugspiel und Grabs pulsierenden Pieptönen und Geräuschen, knurrenden Basslines und Dubbed-Feedbacks, die er aus seinem individuell angeschlossenen No-Input-Mixing-Setup extrahiert. Keines der Instrumente übernimmt die Führung, die beiden Musiker treten in einen ständigen Dialog. Als leidenschaftliche Improvisatoren haben sie dieses Album mit sieben Tracks in mehreren Studiosessions aufgenommen, was zu einem Ergebnis führte, das selbstbewusst und präzise ist, aber die Dringlichkeit einer Live-Improvisation beibehält.

Camera Obscura cut their teeth on the angular and abrasive sounds of Antioch Arrow, Clickatat Ikatowi, and Heroin, and incorporated synths and electronics to create their own dark, jarring, experimental rock sound. ‘To Change the Shape of an Envelope’, released in 2000 on Troubleman Unlimited, was their only LP. The album runs the gamut sonically with dark, high energy songs like “Twenty-Five Diamonds” and “Sarasota”, the early industrial sounds of “Something About a Nightmare”, and the shoegaze influenced “Cinematheque”.

Die amerikanische Rockband Eels, um Mastermind Mark 'E' Everett, veröffentlicht zum ersten Mal überhaupt die Liveaufnahmen von 'Live at Largo 2019' auf Vinyl! Die vier Songs sind aus unterschiedlichen Phasen der Band.
