Dread Recordings is very happy to announce the release of ‘The Dark Soldier Remixes. We have two absolute first class retakes of the legendary ‘The Dark Soldier’. Both Critical Impact and Alcemist have outdone themselves with these gems.

'Their Dark Dominion' charts the haunted history of Clapham Wood in Sussex, a paranormal hotspot linked with tales of UFO sightings, mysterious disappearances, unexplained deaths, and dark worship. In 1978, local investigator Charles Walker was contacted by a black magic initiate who claimed that the woods were being used for dark rituals and animal sacrifice by The Friends of Hecate - a secretive occult group whose number were said to include those at the highest levels in society. “We will stop at nothing to ensure the safety of our cult!” The soundtrack to an imaginary documentary or TV series circa 1987 - the year in which the area’s ‘demonic connection’ was severed by the great October storm - ‘Their Dark Dominion’ conjures digital synthscapes and swirling gothic guitar to invoke an ethereal atmosphere of supernatural menace.

Heavy Rain, Dark Lights is the third release by Tim Tama on his own imprint Dreamscape Music. The tracks were featured in Tim's sets and podcasts over the last year(s), and will now finally be released. The release features four dance floor oriented tracks showcasing razor-sharp sound design in combination with Tim's signature melodic work.

Recorded in Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, Marillion remain musically true to themselves and continue swimming against the path of adjusting to norms and limitations.

Marc Rapson is a man of many dimensions. Mit nur zwei Demos seit Gründung im Jahr 2018 scheint es, dass MALIGNANT ALTAR nach modernen Maßstäben etwas zu ruhig gestartet waren. Doch dieses Monster hat nicht geschlafen oder sich auf seinen Lorbeeren ausgeruht, sondern das ranzigste, obszönste Album geschaffen, das man sich vorstellen kann. Aus dem tiefsten Schlund 80er-Horror-Einflüssen ergießt sich eine Flut von Innereien in Form von eitrig faulen Riffs und zermürbenden Drums in einem dicken teerigen Matsch instrumentalen Verfalls über den Hörer. Gesanglich wird purer Ekel ausgekotzt, der sich glorreich klebrig über die letzte Ritze bösartig hypnotisierender Rifflandschaft einfügt und wie verfaulte Leichenreste aus euren Lautsprechern tropfen. Wenn das alles nach einer Demo-Band mit begrenzten technischen Spielfähigkeiten klingt - Nichts wäre weiter von der Wahrheit entfernt, da MALIGNANT ALTAR mit gnadenlosem Drumming und technisch ausgefeilten Riffs aufwarten können.

Über fünf typische Tracks und einem spektralen Zwischeninstrumental ist die Platte zwar gnadenlos brutal, verzichtet aber dennoch nicht auf Dynamik. Diese Texaner haben Würze in ihrem Death Metal und wissen genau, wann unausweichliche Attacke oder zermürbender Groove bis hin zum Pulverisieren der Nackenwirbel gefragt ist!

More than anyone, Blind Willie Johnson embodies the archetype of the cursed bluesman. Despite the fact that his records have sold fairly well at his time, or that one of his ballads (Dark Was The Night, Cold as the Ground - that also gives the name to this compilation) was included on the Voyager disc launched into space in 1977, the American singer/preacher has lived his whole life in total misery. However, his powerful voice fascinates. His guitar style, a mixture of picking and slide, will influence several generations of musicians. And like many of his contemporaries, it was not until the 1960s that his talent would finally be recognized at its fair value (via the work of the brilliant Reverend Gary Davis).

The ingenious beats continue to unfurl across ‘Abyss’ and ‘This One’, as brooding atmospherics wash over in waves. Acclaimed Los Angeles indie songwriter Alex Brown Church has announced the release of Sea Wolf - “Through A Dark Wood (Deluxe)” on November 19 via Dangerbird Records. “Having it come out now feels kind of fitting,” Church remarked. “‘Through a Dark Wood’ originally came out in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, when we were all entering into a new ‘dark wood’ together. We’re beginning to figure it out, though we’re still not sure what’s next.
