Originally released as a hand-numbered CD on New Year's Eve of 2004, Last Light captures Tor Lundvall 's hushed songcraft at its most ghostly and grayscale, stripped bare like branches bracing for winter. Initially conceived of as "a piano album with sparse electronics" (with the working title November), Lundvall's palette steadily expanded, incorporating synthesizer, samples, bass, metronomes, and his signature spectral vocals. A journal entry from the spring of 2002 proved formative to his evolving vision: "I remember watching the blueish-grey light shimmering outside and hearing distant sounds echoing far away, eventually sinking into silence and stillness." The album's 12 tracks are steeped in this sense of autumnal transience, of bearing witness to what fades. The music moves in whispered swells, between dirge, drift, and devotional. Synths chime like slow-tolling bells; percussion shuffles and shivers, icy and isolated; bass traces a low-lidded plod - it's a mode both austere and seductive, lulling the listener into its landscapes of deepening dusk. Lyrically, Lundvall's language skews observational and depressive ("through lace curtains / grey light falls / dark clouds gather / in my soul" ), with each song like a gauzy glimpse into a different tableau framing winter's descent: rust - colored leaves, frozen ponds, cold crescent moons. Lundvall has long considered Last Light a "personal favorite" in his discography, and it's easy to hear why. In texture, finesse, and pacing, it vividly evokes the rare mood of fragile, frosty pastoral noir depicted in his iconic oil paintings. His is an art of the half-seen and half-remembered, of fleeting figures, shapes and shadows, and gathering darkness. Of all that disappears, and the ghosts that never leave: "So I wait / as the years / slowly drain the magic and the light / and the girl / I never loved / haunts me through the dark roads of my life."

As an important agent of Gothenburg’s underground scene, Dan Johansson has been a member of several experimental harsh noise projects such as Sewer Election, and lo-fi indie folk bands like Enhet För Fri Musik and Amateur Hour. Ordeal is his latest solo output, and might as well be ashes stuck in the blast furnace's edges of his last longing career. Not by means of summing up genres or as a culmination of his musical development, but as a profound music piece weaved in his own household.

With not much more than a synthesizer, Vätterns Pärla is built by trembling, dissonant drones stained in feedback and reverberation, thickly textured by the no-fi quality of the recording, depicting a menacing atmosphere congested with heavy fumes. In Johansson's words, Ordeal "takes inspiration from the early 80’s albums of Maurizio Bianchi, filtered through a Gothenburgian no-fi bleakness. It’s an album for inner voyage, childhood memories, and places that now lost purpose and meaning”.

There's certainly intimacy and nostalgia, yet a claustrophobic, hypnotic ambiance wraps it all up in a contained and narrow space. Emphasis is put on texture rather than on detail, on color rather than on progression, on suspense rather than on conclusion. Tension varies stiffly, sometimes a drone layer dismantles and the mood seems to filter, but ragged edges are never polished. We can feel the walls and the air, which although tarnished, can be breathed in somehow. It's as if waking up in a dark room and having to recognize it with our ears and tact, testing its dimensions and its surface. The stillness in the chamber is like the stillness between gasps of storms.

Without visible stars, an enclosed share of night sky hides a heavy load of industrial debris underwater. These remnants are maybe the pearl regarding the album's title. It all can seem like a dream, a grim mechanical soundscape deafened by hefty, yet sporadic winds. Soil strives to make something grow, but sprouting is kept suspended, held by a dismal presentiment. Long shadows on the ground prove that darkness is about to befall. And as these shadows stretch, almost about to break up in a loud strike, the noise turns white.

Mommy’s Little Monster, veröffentlicht 1983, ist das erste Album von Social Distortion. Es wurde in einer einzigen Session aufgenommen und enthält die Single ”Another State of Mind”. Zu dem 40-jährigen Jubiläum wird es das Album neu gemastert von den analogen Originalbändern und auf 180-Gramm-Vinyl gepresst geben. Enthalten sein wird das Album die neun Originalsongs, darunter den Titeltrack ”Mommy’s Little Monster” und die Single ”Another State of Mind”.

Das vierte Studioalbum 'Day And Age' von Frost* ist zurück auf Standard CD Jewelcase. Für dieses Album arbeitete die Band als 3-Mann-Besetzung, bestehend aus Godfrey und seinen langjährigen Mitstreitern John Mitchell und Nathan King. 'Um ehrlich zu sein, hat uns der Wechsel ziemlich beflügelt', sagt Godfrey, 'er gab uns eine viel breitere Palette an kompositorischen Möglichkeiten', wir schrieben einen Song und sagten: 'Stellen wir uns vor, Schlagzeuger x ist zur Band gestoßen, was würde er hier tun? Das hat uns in einige interessante neue Richtungen geführt'. Am Ende wurden drei Schlagzeuger Teil des Aufnahmeprojekts: Kaz Rodriguez (Chaka Khan, Josh Groban), Darby Todd (The Darkness, Martin Barre) und Pat Mastelotto (Mister Mister, King Crimson). 'Jeder Musiker brachte einen ganz anderen Spielstil mit', sagt John Mitchell, 'und wir haben die Songs auf sie zugeschnitten.' Im Januar 2020 richtete die Band für eine Woche ein neues, temporäres Studio in einem umgebauten Turm der Küstenwache in Dungeness in East Sussex (Großbritannien) ein. 'Wir waren 30 Fuß vom Meer entfernt, neben einem Atomkraftwerk und einem Leuchtturm, mitten im Winter! Es gab also kaum Tageslicht und das Wetter war furchtbar', lacht Bassist Nathan King, 'Wir haben dort 'Terrestrial' und 'Repeat To Fade' geschrieben, und in meinem Kopf kann man förmlich hören, wie sich die düstere, isolierte Bedrückung auf uns auswirkte. Die Songs, die wir schrieben, waren viel düsterer - der Wind heulte nachts um das Gebäude, das Kraftwerk erzeugte Knistern auf dem Ton, ein riesiger Leuchtturm nebenan fegte alle 30 Sekunden ein riesiges Licht in den Nebel und John schrie 'ENJOY YOURSELVES YOU SCUM' in ein Mikrofon. Heading to a new millennium, people in the 80s and 90s were looking for brighter days to come and Techno was the music of this utopic future, themed by rushed beats made by electronic instruments that resembled a new era of technology, endless excess and possibilities.

40 years later the world is more complicated and dystopian than ever as we face crises everywhere. Mental issues are a natural consequence of the troubled environments we live in and more people around the world suffer from them. At the same time, we haven't lost the appeal for euphoric and fast dancing, either to leave our problems behind or face them head-on on the sweaty dance floor.

This EP is dedicated to some of the feelings associated with the tribulations of mental issues. What seems like a dark take still points out that we are not alone, as music unites us being the source for help and change. Mental States 777_31 offers four sick cuts perfect for insane clubs - fast and furious like an attack, rushed and energetic embracing positivity in the darkness.

Australian rock band Tonight Alive burst onto the scene in 2008 as teenagers, blending power pop and rock, quickly finding success with their debut album, ‘What Are You Scared Of?’, and becoming a crowd favourite at festivals like the Vans Warped Tour and Bamboozle.  ‘Underworld’ is the band’s final and most organic album yet, a raw and real insight to a band reconnecting with their authentic selves.  One of the songs that emerged from the sessions is ‘Temple’, the song that launched the new era of the band and one written when lead vocalist Jenna McDougall was experiencing severe depression and fatigue - the lyrics penned when she was totally entrapped in being sick in her mind, body and soul. The rawness of the song became an anthem at BBC Radio 1 (debuting as the Rockest Record Of The Week).  The album takes the listener on an emotional journey of the underworld we all have within us, dissecting our internal darkness and discovering peace. As the front person of celebrated indie band Cymbals Eat Guitars, guitarist and singer Joseph D'Agostino spent over a decade setting autobiographical, emotionally vivid lyrics against a backdrop of soaring and compositionally ambitious rock. After four critically acclaimed LPs that solidified D'Agostino's reputation as a gifted songwriter, he chose to break from his long-term band and debut a new project: Empty Country. The project's second full-length is a thrilling affair, delivering an engaging and deeply moving rumination on time, family, and the disintegration of America. Although it is a record about the forces that drive Americans apart, it's also imbued with empathic love and an understanding of what binds people to family and country-in spite of the darknesses we encounter. For two weeks on wooden floor, and under a yellow-tinted skylight, the room usually filled with movement and vibrations became home to six musicians and producers from the Czech Republic and all over the world who came together to experiment on new sounds, inspired by a large variety of artistic environments and soundscapes.
Documenting from various perspectives the music production process, capturing those exchanges, this compilation celebrates a unique form of artistic expression and collaboration.

“Azazel” is the second vinyl release of this year and the EP debut from Priorato (MX), with some interesting and outstanding remixes by Colossio, Ludviq, and Chinosynth. This vinyl release will offer a diverse range of remixes, each bringing its own interpretation and style to the original track "Azazel".

A1. Led by Rubén Torres, a DJ and producer from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, focusing on indie dance and techno, the original track for "Azazel" is characterized by a solid bass sequence, hypnotic vocals, and a blend of electronic and organic elements.

The song creates an enigmatic and immersive atmosphere, gradually building a powerful and addictive groove, it offers a musical experience that transports listeners to a trance-like state, inducing feelings of euphoria and escapism.

A2. For the first remix we have the honor to have again on board Colossio, he’s also known as one of Mexico's most talented producers, with previous releases on labels like Duro, Calypso, and Exit Strategy. His remix of "Azazel" is expected to bring a mix of high energy and darkness to the track, showcasing his signature style.

B1. Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico but now based in Barcelona, Spain, Head honcho Ludviq, delivers a remix that promises to be energetic, groovy and psychedelic, incorporating unconventional percussions and sounds recorded from the city chaos and nature calmness environments.

B2. Based in Culiacán, Mexico, Chinosynth's remix aims to infuse a human touch into the track by incorporating analog sounds from studio instruments such as guitars, bass, and synths, while maintaining a dance floor-oriented vibe.

Artist and multi-instrumentalist Flaer looks to the landscape to explore pastoral melancholy on debut release, Preludes.

Ensconced in his family home in rural Leicestershire in the early months of 2020, painter and musician Realf Heygate (b. 1994) picked up his childhood cello for the first time in several years and began to play. Setting himself parameters to only record onto 4-track tape with acoustic instruments – cello, piano and acoustic guitar – he assembled a suite of instrumental compositions that form the basis of Preludes, his debut album as Flaer and the inaugural release on Odda Recordings.

Channelling the tension and unease between the pastoral idyll of the English countryside and the darkness which lurks beneath the surface, the mini-album draws inspiration from the analogue aesthetic of 1970s folk horror films, weaving field recordings of birdsong, church bells and the natural environment into chimerical melodies that reflect on Heygate’s childhood experiences of rural England.

“It was really important not to isolate the sound from its environment,” he explains, describing the compositional and recording process as “site-specific”. Developed over a series of intuitive musical enquiries, the mini-album’s uncanny quality emerges from combining raw demo takes with overdubs of almost orchestral grandeur.

Heygate points to the final track as indicative of the work as a whole: “‘Follow’ really is the mantra for the release and embodies the practical approach I was taking to music making: not to force the music but see where it takes you.”

As a painter, Heygate’s practice takes artefacts through sequences of reproduction that embrace the fluctuating materiality of the copy. Since obtaining a degree in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in 2017, he has exhibited solo at Peter von Kant and Springseason galleries in London, and has participated in group shows at Saatchi Gallery, Cob Gallery and Senesi Contemporanea.

Describing his artistic practice as one of self-erasure, music instead provides Heygate with a more personal and autobiographical outlet. Where the two worlds combine is on Preludes’ striking artwork, which features paintings of 13th century stone carvings from the font of the church in the town where he grew up.

Speaking to a time where people were connected to the land in a more profound way, each symbol is assigned to a track on the album, which Heygate likens to giving them a title.

“To add that one juxtaposition might open a whole new interpretation or language that might be hard to find otherwise,” he explains.“Over time it might reveal itself to you, which is why I'm excited about it being released. To throw them out there and see what comes of it.”

There is no stopping the mighty SORCERER and in the autumn of 2023 the band will release their highly anticipated fourth album entitled ‘Reign Of The Reaper’. Again not content with repeating themselves the album features some of the darkest, heaviest and most aggressive material the band has ever recorded, and at the same time some of the most lyrical and beautiful. The band holed up in their home studios and wrote music all through 2022 and then once again headed to SolnaSound Recording in Stockholm, the studio owned, run and operated by Simon Johansson (Wolf, Soilwork) with Mike Wead (King Diamond). SORCERER are also known for their long title tracks with catchy and highly memorable choruses, and the second single ‘Reign Of The Reaper’ is no exception. Taking the listener through the realms of death and dread, this doom-laden epic with it’s many twists and turns will crush souls, leaving metal fans begging for more darkness and despair.

For 14 years Throat have been the sonic equivalent of forcing a square peg into a round hole; often abrasive, causing utmost irritation at times and on a rare occasion a feverishly pleasant dose of brooding darkness in one's otherwise dull existence. The peg now fits. We Must Leave You sees Throat dropping pegs of all shape and size through the same hole. The last confines of musical genres are behind them, resulting in an album which can be regarded as the easiest listening Throat has ever presented or simultaneously their most difficult and puzzling work to date. Thematically what we have here is a breakup album. Never ones for thinking small, Throat breaks up with the world. Enough is enough. Bring back lockdown. No need for petty social commentary on how the world is burning. Let it burn. Throat is already walking away and it remains to be seen where they end up next. If anywhere. Breakups always require dramatic music and We Must Leave You more than fits the purpose. Throat have already hinted at new directions and new sounds on their previous two albums, but here it all breaks loose. Rooted in the same heavy, dark rock sound as always, but a touch of gothic drama from the 80s has been injected to the band's sonic palette which obviously means a few deeper shades of black. The noise and dissonance remains, but this time it all has been dipped in honey and black grease paint. We Must Leave You was written over a few years time and finally recorded in 2023 at Tonehaven Recording Studio with Tom Brooke and the band's own Amplified Human Audio.
