Since the early 1960s Clement ‘Sir Coxsone’ Dodd had established Studio One as the unparalleled leader in reggae music in the world. In the years that followed he established the careers of countless reggae legends – Bob Marley & The Wailers, Marcia Griffiths, The Skatalites, Horace Andy, Dennis Brown, Burning Spear and many more.
From its inception Studio One had been at the forefront of every major development in reggae music – ska, rocksteady, roots, DJ, dub and, starting in the second half of the 1970s, dancehall.
Having attained such great success, by the late 1970s Clement Dodd was free to enjoy Studio One’s now firmly established supremacy in reggae music. He released a series of stunning new albums at the end of the decade by Sugar Minott, Johnny Osbourne, Freddie McGregor and others that rode the wave of dancehall and set the path of Studio One’s output for the following 25 years.
During this period, long-established artists such as Alton Ellis, Jackie Mittoo and others returned to the label, recording some of their most creatively satisfying albums with new music that both celebrated the classic sound of Studio One while continuing to experiment, push boundaries and look forward to the future.
This release celebrates this sometimes overlooked golden era at Studio One in the 1970s,1980s and beyond.

Amsterdam's resident by choice, Torky Tork's Seed Tape Vol.1 is a reminiscences to his love for growing plants. Having created his own personal "music for plants" project, to keep flora and fauna entertained and triggering the blooming process.
Simultaneously to the album, Torky's own OK KUSH weed-strain will be introduced to the world. The lush & laid-back stimulating sounds and baselines are beneficial for the plants and the listeners cortex equally.
Torky's sound - even across various projects can be described with the broad spectrum of influences. The restless Berlin native has never stuck to one formula. His urge for ever new input is reflected by the constant change in the centre of his life - for some years now, he has been constantly traveling back and forth between his Berlin Bunker studio and Amsterdam, his home of choice. So the influence of weed has naturally been around him for a while, yet inspiring him to dive into the album TWO BE OK.
The illustrious line-up of musical guests on the album contains Germany’s most in-demand producers, the self-taught bedroom beatmaker FloFilz, Berlin’s bunker studio affiliate S. RUN-DMC DOWN WITH THE KING 30th ANNIVERSARY Pressed On Red, White and Black Double Colored Vinyl With Commemorative Numbered OBI Limited To 2000 Copies Thirty years ago on May 4, 1993, Run-DMC made one of the greatest comebacks in Hip-Hop history with the release of their 6th studio album Down With The King. To understand the significance of this feat we have to go back a few years. Coming off an amazing four-album run ending with the platinum album Tougher Than Leather, Run-DMC released their 5th studio album, Back From Hell, to lackluster sales. Did Run-DMC fall off? Did the emergence of gangsta rap push them off to the side? It was sad to see your Hip-Hop heroes take a fall. Then in 1991, a 12-inch remix came out for the single "Back From Hell" featuring Chuck D and Ice Cube and fans took notice. It would be two more years before anyone would hear from Run-DMC again. In March of 1993, a new single and video “Down With The King” debuted on Yo! MTV Raps featuring the new Hip-Hop Gods Pete Rock and CL Smooth paying homage to The Kings calling back verses from Sucker MCs over a dope signature Pete Rock beat. The video would be in constant rotation on Ralph McDaniels Video Music Box, YO!, BET’s Rap City and more. Fans watched it over and over to catch all the cameos, everyone from Eazy-E to the Native Tongues Family of De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. The anticipation was building, but would the album live up to the lead single that knocked it out of the park? On May 4, 1993, the album dropped on CD, Cassette, and Vinyl. Run-DMC enlisted The Bomb Squad from Public Enemy, Q-Tip, EPMD, Jermaine Dupri, Kay Gee of Naughty By Nature, and Pete Rock to produce the album with a special appearance by Tom Morello rocking out his guitar emulating DJ scratches he made famous with Rage Against The Machine. Their rhyming was as enthusiastic and powerful as they were on their debut album 10 years prior. Run-DMC, the self-proclaimed Kings of Rock and original Kings of Hip Hop were indeed back. The album debuted at #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts and #7 on the Billboard 200 and would go Gold within two months. Get On Down is proud to present for the first time on vinyl since its original release, a 30 Year Anniversary pressing on double-colored vinyl with numbered OBI in a gatefold jacket.

It's a pleasure, a labour of love and a yearly highlight to present a new volume of the Mr Bongo Record Club series. In this collection, we have curated new finds alongside old, treasured tracks that hold a special place in our hearts, selecting music inspiring us from the Brazilian, Latin, soul, disco, gospel, cosmic, dancehall and downtempo genres. We have chosen a diverse array of artists, including Os Panteras from Brazil, stomping underground disco by Claude Jay, the Danish soul sounds of Gitte & Inger and the gospel excellence of Truth & Devotion, to name a few.

Most of the selections in this volume are older vintage productions, however, there is one very special contemporary production, recorded exclusively for Mr Bongo Record Club 7. For ‘Spring Has Sprung’, we linked three of our cherished musical family together; the legendary cult artist Asha Puthli, the wonderous band SOYUZ and Swedish maestro Sven Wunder. The result, as you’d expect, is completely breathtaking.

Reflecting on Volume 7, it now feels like a record comprised of two themes. Firstly, we have gone quite heavy on the Brazilian selections. This saw us searching further afield and digging into other areas of the endlessly rich Brazilian musical tapestry. The reflection of a more folk / Afro-Brazilian sound than presented in previous volumes in the series, can be heard in the songs of As Sublimes, Romeu Fernandes and Conjunto de Percussão Dora Pinto. The second theme is a representation of the tracks that we have been playing in our club DJ sets and are aimed more at the dancefloor. Disco tracks such as 'Come Inside' by The Shades of Love and The Duncans' 'Too Damn Hot' have been firmly tested favourites in recent years.

We hope these songs, by the sensational artists on display, inspire you as much as they do us. Music is the gift that keeps giving and there is so much more to learn, find, and share.

John Peel und andere Radio DJs spielten ihre Songs zu Tode, was schließlich in BBC Radiosessions mündete. Nachdem THE CHEFS zu SKAT geworden waren, brach die Band auseinander. Helen McCookerybook sollte als HELEN AND THE HORNS Erfolge für sich verbuchen und ist heute noch solo aktiv. Diese Doppel-LP mit 26 Tracks von THE CHEFS enthält sämtliche ihrer Aufnahmen auf Attrix und Graduate Records, dazu bisher unveröffentlichte Songs des verschollenen Debütalbums, und Songs aus den Radio Sessions für John Peel und Richard Skinner. Making waves on the festival and club circuit and meticulous productions like Forbidden Fruit or the Immer Remix for Running Back, Narciss found the perfect partnership with Morphena and their multitalented artistry between DJing, music making and vocal work.
Informed and inspired by a mutual enthusiasm for Italo blueprints, new romantic mannerisms, synth pop poetry and an uncanny knack for subtle and yearning dance floor euphoria (see Paradise and the club version of Per Aspera Ad Astra for further proof). it works like a mix tape or love letter to the listener or any of their adored ones. While the obvious club cuts Mi Amor and Fleeing Into You are sandwiched between the ambience of Per Aspera Ad Astra and Cocoon Cracking, one cannot help to be mesmerized by the coherence and monolithic magnetism of Lingua Erotica.

The Blessed Madonna began with three magic words, scrawled in shoe polish on a broken - down box and hung on the wall at a small sweaty party: We Still Believe. “I think you have to give up completely to really understand what hope is. It was like 2011? I had spectacularly, monumentally failed. I left the label. I wasn’t DJing. I wasn’t putting out records. I was divorced and living on my Dad’s couch so naturally my friends and I decided to throw an illegal rave. We didn’t have any decorations, so I took a box and wrote, ‘We Still Believe’ on it. I needed to believe that something better was possible and that’s how it all started.” After years of $50 gigs, strung together by gas money and surfed couches, The Blessed Madonna cemented her reputation as a sublime technician behind the decks with a legacy of fluent and dynamic sets, spanning from disco to techno to house and back. One room sweatboxes, circus tents, theatres, massive festival stages and entire city blocks have all served as the canvas for her shows. After a jam packed 2023, from Glastonbury to Sonar to Boiler Room Bali, The Blessed Madonna has been filling the dance floor everywhere she goes and is now releasing her debut album.

US House Music legend Teddy Douglas of Basement Boys and Jasper St. Co. fame gets set to unleash his first solo artist album, ‘I’m Here’, on the iconic label, Nervous Records. Teddy has gone all out to deliver one of his most creative and musically diverse albums to date. ‘I’m Here’ is a colourful pallet of meaningful songs and grooves that reach far beyond Teddy’s signature soulful Baltimore House sound, with added infusions of Funk, Rock and Jazz, yet still loaded with plenty of Teddy’s trademark House and Disco sounds that we all know and love.

Across the album he’s pulled together an array of heavyweight international vocal talent including; UK vocal diva Pauline Taylor; Danish award winning Folk and Blues artist, Richard Farrell; Chi Town Hip House legend, Fast Eddie; dance music’s legendary No.1 vocal queen, Ultra Naté; up and coming Brit Soul talent, Sipho; and Buckshot from Blackmoon appearing as BDI Thug. Baltimore’s Teddy Douglas has produced everyone from Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Crystal Waters, Erykah Badu, Martha Wash and Ultra Nate’ and was an important figure in the development of the Baltimore “House” Sound. Teddy has held down a long and successful DJ career since 1983 staring out in Baltimore and spreading his wings globally gracing the decks at clubs such as Yellow in Japan to London’s Ministry of Sound and beyond. In 1985 he met Jay Steinhour and Thommy Davis, who later formed The Basement Boys production company. The Basement Boys have produced countless dance classics like Crystal Waters’ 1991 Gold single, ‘Gypsy Woman’. In the mid 90’s Teddy Douglas and Jay Steinhour opened Basement Boys Records and released club anthems from Teddy Douglas, Jasper St. Co., Ann Nesby, Those Guys, DJ Spen, Byron Stingly, Karizma, Kenny Bobien, Taja Seville and more

Bologna born Italo Disco legend Celso Valli’s ‘Tantra’ project had one aim; to push the boundaries of disco! Released in 1979 in the vein of Cerrone and Giorgio Moroder, ‘Hills of Katmandu’ is a unique, progressive slice of classic Italo Disco. The pulsating ‘Moroder-on-steroids bassline’, menacing female vocal and warbling synths take you on a trippy disco journey. The track became a huge dancefloor anthem at legendary clubs such as The Loft and The Saint in New York and Baia Degli Angeli in Rimini.

Originally available on vinyl in 1982 on San Francisco’s “Hot Classics” DJ Service”, Patrick Cowley’s “Original Underground Mix” is a work of pure genius that unleashes his skills on the synths and somehow manages to surpass the original.

High Fashion Music have enrolled Ben Liebrand to restore all the original remix-tapes, managing to re-edit and adjust each and every nuance to perfection, taking away any and all flaws which appeared in the original and it’s acetates, so that it is now steady preserving the original Hi NRG sound. This is the first time this restored and upgraded version has been released.

On the flip-side, there is the original 16’20 minutes version of the Jurgen Koppers mix, an extended re-edit of the original Celso Valli version, which appeared first on Disconet in 1979, and in the following year on the US (Importe/12) release of the “Tantra – the Double Album” longplayer.

"Breaking to the Bus Stop", is a project around B.Boying, one of the four elements of Hip Hop ; a challenge can happen at any time, in the street, the subway, a bus stop... to settle scores. These songs are part of Marc-Aurèle Vecchione's ARTE series "Boys & Girls Africa".

A few more donuts such as "Perkushun", "Latin Breakdown", "Tex Mex Breaking" have been added to the cypher. Two of the songs, including the series' theme song, were composed with my DJ LC, from Légitime Processus. Strictly for hard core power moves.

We are honored to present a proper house music classic from 1991 to y’all which was huge back in the day and we had the pleasure to re-vamp for today´s house heads: Urban Soul ft. Roland Clark- Alright! This project is a brainchild from one of house music´s most prolific figures, Roland Clark, who actually wrote and produced the original track that we all love. Vocal credits also go to Roland and to the late Ceybill Jeffries. The remixes on this beauty are rather huge! First up Baltimore´s finest DJ Spen and MicFreak team up and do a masterclass on remixing, what a soulful house monster, beautiful new chords and a baseline to die for. One of Peppermint Jam´s first artists on the roster, Mellow Man, just couldn´t stop and delivered a fantastic remix with that jackin´ groove which puts us back right to the glorious days of house music in the naughties. Leya Touch & soFa elsewhere aka Dream Baby Dream combine their left-of-centre musical perspectives on an otherworldly new self-titled album that arrives on Hell Yeah this September and will get a Japanese domestic release on CD. The duo's beguiling mix of occult synths and treated vocals ride dubbed-out mid-tempo rhythms on a retro-futurist record that blends cold wave, cosmic disco, dub and trance.

Dream Baby Dream describes themselves as "two children who refused to grow up" and now they offer a glimpse into their very own fantastic land of dreams. This journey into diverse flavours spontaneously started after a cosy dinner and after just three sessions resulted in the album presented here. Playful yet sometimes gloomy, this music echoes life, both imaginary and real - the highs, the lows, the dark moments and the joy, trance-inducted love zones, daydreams and everything in between. It is a coherent hole but one filled with surprising turns, moments of deja vu and plenty of outsider dance floor delights.

Leya Touch is a rising voice and live act on the Brussels alternative scene. Together with soFa, a veteran DJ and producer who released on many forward-thinking labels worldwide, they provide signature vocals and synths that challenge typical genre categorisations.

Opener 'Love Zone' sets a strangely seductive basic channel vs dreamy pop vibe with wispy cosmic melodies and oodles of echoes as Touch's vocals draw you in. Lose limbed percussive jumbled and sci-fi motifs define 'Badalamenti On Fries', 'Curry Con Sax' has an avant-guard sense of soul and melodic curiousness and 'Diskoteka' is a jittery mix of retro synth sounds and whispered vocal coos that shimmer like stars in the night sky. Elsewhere there's the malfunctioning Kraftwerkian electronics of 'Körperkonsum', goa-filter madness of 'Banana Trance' and the eerie interplanetary dub of 'Carpenter On The Beach' while 'Whale Rider' and 'The Rude Red Lady' bring warped lines and enchanting vocalisations that sound like nothing you have heard before.

This is an exultant album of new musical rituals, tiny soundscapes, dehumanised words and combinations of the past, present and future that never fail to excite and intrigue.

At 15 years of age Danny aka DJH worked at Dance Force Records, his Dad’s record shop, at the weekends in Kings Lynn. He also built himself a basic studio in the back of the shop where he linked up with a local customer and started to make music. These tracks would form an EP called The Bass Project which went on to be one of the most sought after hardcore records, being offered for up to £750 a copy. Not bad for a 15 year old kid who made his one and only release back in 1993.

This is the 3rd and final release for the DJH series whilst he takes a sabbatical from music, leaving us with 4 heavy hardcore tracks, with that authentic early 90’s feel with ‘Bad Boy Sound’ being a firm favourite of Jay Cunning over recent months on his Kool FM show. Sourcing original samples and memories from his time embedded in the scene as a teenager, this whole EP pays respects to the analogue dance scene that paved the way for all forms of UK bass music that followed.

New music by The Mole. High Dreams contains four tracks, three originals and one remix from Circus Company favourite Dave Aju. The Mole savours dreaming and welcomes the mystical landscapes ofthe mind with High Dreams, a collection of uptempo dance pieces inhabited by ghosts and welcoming creatures from the deeps. This unpretentious collection cuts straight with the rhythms, and carries long with the arrangements. Dancefloor sizzle. Subsonic rumble. Ghosts! Your body moving requisites lie within this simple plate of wax. Turn up your amps and bathe in it. The Mole is known for his “hits” (Baby You’re The One, Hippy Speedball, In My Song, Lockdown Party) and his “work” with many Top labels (Perlon, Kompakt, Wagon Repair, Maybe Tomorrow, Ostgut Ton) is played by many Top DJs. Only his third release with Circus Company (Little Sunshine, The River Widens), this Ep is a reminder that the Mole is still at it, and a warning. There’s a new album upcoming.

With his 19th release with the label since 2003, Dave Aju is one of the pillars of modern Circus Company. Aju amplifies Losing Track, adding percussion and fresh, modern programming, giving the remix a whole new purpose while maintaining the erie cries, calling out, desperate - don’t leave me hang ’n … of the original. A certain go to for the Deep Heads.

Last Nubian - one of South London"s most electrifying producer/DJ talents - partners with Geneva"s Sweet Fruity Brunch to debut on Errol and Alex Rita"s Touching Bass. Six tracks oozing the grit and groove of inner city LDN with deep house, broken beat and dub at its core.

Courtesy Of Balance is the tasteful house label run by Brawther and it was back in 2019 in Lviv during an underground warehouse party that he first made contact with Laconica label founders Ocean and Sasha Pervukhin. They all hit it off and so were invited to showcase the deeper side of the house sounds of Western Ukraine, and the results make up this new EP with the artists taking one side each. Ocean T's opener is a psychedelic, trance-infused cosmic trip while 'What If' rides on crisp beats with some lush dubbed-out synths. On the flip, Pervukhin's 'I Hate This DJ' is balmy, heady deep house from up amongst the stars and 'TR 18 Blues' is a nice kinetic, lithe minimal house cut.
