Robin Saville - one half of the influential duo ISAN - returns to Morr Music with »Lore«, his fourth solo album to date. After 2020’s »Build A Diorama«, the British musician takes his love for field recordings, whirring pads, hovering bells and subtle electronics further, adding extra depth to both his sonic palette and his storytelling, focussing on biological diversity and its implications for human life.

For many years now, ›look and listen‹ has been Robin Saville's motto on his regular environmental explorations. The avid ambler does not just enjoy being out and about in nature; it is an important inspiration for his creative work as well. Sounds, smells, colours and even soil properties add to the experience. Equipped with a microphone and a recording device, Saville documents his strolls, using these recordings as a base for his compositions. »The field recordings on the album were made very locally this time, for obvious reasons,« he says. Welcome to the sonic landscape of the UK's East Anglia.

»Judith Avenue«, the opening track, is a great example of how Saville evolved his perspective on the sounds of nature: »It is a residential street, fading into a scrubby, wild landscape. There, I made a recording of nightingales at dusk. Such romantic birds! The males fly here from Africa a couple of weeks ahead of the females. They find a good territory, and at dusk, when all the other birds are going quiet, they start to sing to tempt the females down from their migratory flight paths. This has happened for thousands of years. However, the patch of ground where I made the recordings is earmarked for development and I don't suppose it'll happen there again. The recordings therefore become part of the history of that place, the lore.«

Recording the sounds of nature and enriching them with electronic sorcery, Saville is not only a documenting preservationist; he also translates these recordings into meaningful musical miniatures. Building on the soundscapes that marked his previous LP »Build A Diorama«, »Lore« is dominated by both open-hearted melancholy and more upbeat rhythms. But even when the music sounds quirky and loose, there is always deeper meaning. The album is characterised by an ever present melancholy about the threatening loss of living spaces, and a celebration of their beauty. This simultaneity turns the tracks into existential meditations about our human habitat. Saville enriches our lives musically by addressing the very issues we often ignore. At the same time, he becomes an agent of hope and change. Moving between light and dark, »Lore« is a musical allegory of where we stand today.

»The album is a document of places and times and while it is certainly a celebration of those things, it is also a record of things we are losing. That's how interaction with nature feels to me nowadays: something precious and amazing, but with an underlying sadness about the destructive relationship that humanity seems inevitably to have with the world around it.«

In February 2017, Midnight Oil announced The Great Circle World Tour from the Sydney Harbour. The tour was the band’s first in over 15 years, commenced in Sydney, travelled to 16 countries, completed 76 performances in six months and concluded at The Domain in November 2017. The performance of their final show at the Domain was recorded and now available on 3 LPs. They performed both their gigantic solo hits, such as “Beds Are Burning” and “Blue Sky Mine”, as fan favourites like “Read About It” and “Only the Strong”. It’s a fantastic live experience full of energy and with much attention to their often political subjects. Armistice Day: Live At The Domain, Sydney showcases Midnight Oil at their absolute finest.

This release is available as a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies on transparent red vinyl and the package includes an extensive 12-page booklet.

2021 haben die UK Alt Metal Durchstarter VEXED mit ihrem Debut Culling Culture eines der aufregendsten Alben des Genres veröffentlicht. Mit roher Brutalität und urbaner Attitüde entpuppte sich die Band als die Neuentdeckung der Szene und weckte schon bald großes Medieninteresse. Ein durchschlagender Erfolg, an den das Quartett jetzt mit dem Nachfolgewerk anknüpft, das unter dem Titel Negative Energy am 23. Juni 2023 über Napalm Records erscheint. Auf ihrem Zweitwerk stellen VEXED ihr neues Selbstvertrauen unter Beweis. Brachialer und ungezügelter denn je verarbeiten sie dabei Themen wie Tod, Verrat, Schmerz und Trauer durch markerschütternd ehrlichen, modernen Sound.

Wie bereits der Titel erahnen lässt, hält Negative Energy nichts von erzwungener Positivität. Vielmehr dienen die 13 neuen Songs als Selbsttherapie gegen den aufgestauten Frust der Band. VEXED verpacken tiefgründige und ergreifend ehrliche Lyrics und laufen dabei zu musikalischer Höchstform auf.

„Um Stärke zu finden mussten wir zuerst akzeptieren, dass es uns nicht gut geht, unser Trauma annehmen und uns ihm stellen, indem wir unsere Verletzlichkeit, Ängste und Schwächen teilen”, fügt die

The Great Divide ist das 50. Studioalbum des amerikanischen Country-Sängers Willie Nelson und wurde 2002 das erste Mal veröffentlicht. Es enthält mehrere Duette und musikalische Kollaborationen mit Künstlern wie Rob Thomas von Matchbox Twenty, Lee Ann Womack, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Brian McKnight und Bonnie Raitt. Florida Guilt, Bay Faction's second and final LP, saw the band expand their sound while maintaining a core of relatability and 20-something angst. The album blends the indie/emo guitar-based sound and hard hitting hooks of their cult classic debut with a slightly more minimalist approach and electronic elements. Long out of print, Counter Intuitive Records is once again teaming up with Bay Faction (their debut LP launched the label in 2015) to bring Florida Guilt back to vinyl alongside the first LP.

As producer of the prototypical punk band the Dead Boys and their classic single "Sonic Reducer," Ravan was an essential part of the new wave explosion of the '70s, which was a blend of punk rock and power pop. Urban Desire is the quintessential new wave album, and though it caused a stir, it has never fully been recognized as the groundbreaking work it is. A driving cover of the Supremes hit "Back in My Arms Again" has guitarists Conrad Taylor and Ritchie Fliegler fragmenting Deep Purple's "My Woman from Tokyo" riff under Ravan's brilliant New York party atmosphere. That comes right after her duet with Lou Reed, a tune called "Aye Co'lorado," one of the album's highlights written by Ravan and keyboard player Charlie Giordano. Classic girl group vocals, blues sensibilities, and the hard edge of underground rock & roll are the ingredients that propel "Jerry's Pigeons" and "Cornered," while a John Cale signature tune, "Darling, I Need You," becomes a barroom brawl -- and that's thanks to the band assembled for this: Bobby Chen on drums, Don Nossov on bass, along with the aforementioned Fliegler, Taylor, and Giordano. Ravan's harp playing pushes "Messin Around," which keeps up the intensity -- and volume. Joe Droukas, who would author the successful "Junkman" duet with Ian Hunter on Ravan's next outing, ...And I Mean It, brings the disc to a close with his third composition on Urban Desire, a tune called "Shadowboxing." Genya gets mellow with this performance, which feels like Ten Wheel Drive meets the Rolling Stones at the "Memory Motel." Sabre-Tooth is a stylistic re-calibration of Mikes's machine funk hinted at with his remix of Presha's Mainliner in 2022 but previously unheard in stand-alone tracks.

For the third time to the house of Sakskøbing we are witnessing return of a close friend to the label, Portland-based Aaron Carlson who goes by the moniker ac$. This legend of a human being has crafted a 5 audio pieces which has been made on his modular machines at his home studio and showcases a good range of what I believe we call house music. With the first release he has done for the label that went out in the year 2017 and marks a 6-year friendship between the artist and all of us fellas who hold his music dear to the hearts. The record turned out to be warm, personal and true to the artist’s vision you’ll agree if just like us you have been following the man’s sound output over the years. Very importantly it teaches that bean curd is not only good for your body but for the mind as well and let’s not even start to count how many things you can do with it. You know what they say…

Aber als der DJ, Produzent, Rapper und Multiinstrumentalist Madlib 2003 die Blue-NoteArchive für sein Meisterwerk “Shades Of Blue” “plündern” durfte, legte er die Messlatte auf ein neues Niveau. Das Resultat war ein visionäres Album mit Remixen und Neuinterpretationen klassischer BlueNote-Aufnahmen von u.a. Donald Byrd, Bobbi Humphrey, Ronnie Foster, Bobby Hutcherson und Wayne Shorter.

Das 5. Studioalbum von Django Django trägt den Titel ”Off Planet” und besteht aus 21 Titeln, die in vier Teile aufgeteilt sind. Ursprünglich sollten es vier experimentelle EPs werden, die aber schnell in ein richtiges Album verwandelt wurden, als die Band das Potenzial der Aufnahmesession erkannte. ”Off Planet” enthält einige der aufregendsten und dynamischsten Stücke, die Django Django je produziert haben. Das Album ist eine Rückbesinnung auf ihre experimentellen und elektronischen Wurzeln und enthält außerdem spannende Gastauftritte von Self Esteem, Jack Penate und vielen anderen.

Jeder Teil des Albums wird digital veröffentlicht und am Tag der Veröffentlichung des vierten Teils wird das gesamte Album auf Doppel-Vinyl und Doppel-CD erscheinen.

Barbara Naps and Madeline Singer join JAH David on the background vocals.In 2023, Zion High Productions is celebrating twenty years of “crucial Rastafari music for these crucial times”.

Reptile Mob is a newly launched, vinyl-only sub-label of the well-regarded GLBDOM imprint. It kicks off with a five-track various artists release that pays homage to the garage sound. 'Don't Know It' by Highrise opens up with a distantly 90s vibe, then Sky Joose shows his class on 'On The Shores' with its hard-edged bassline and full-throttle drums. Johnny U-Tah works some re-pitched and time-stretched vocals to perfection on 'Voices In My Head', with further gems from The Thunderkats whose 'Melatron' is a piano-laced bumper and last of all Jay Ward's 'Everything That I Need' brims with vocal lushness. A top draw start for sure.
