Am 26.09.2025 erscheint beim feinen Wiener Indie-Label Voller Sound endlich das heiß erwartete Debüt-Album der New-New-Wave-Band Parc de Triomphe - als Vinyl mit grell-pinken Farbtupfern. Eine Reminiszenz an die 1980er- und 1990er-Jahre. Auf dem selbstbetitelten Album setzen sich Jörn Brien und Florian Knabenschuh in gewohnt düsterer Elektro-Pop-Manier mit der eigenen Vergangenheit auseinander. Themen wie Einsamkeit, Verletzlichkeit und die Angst vor Umbrüchen werden aufgehellt von Farb- und Hoffnungsschimmern. Druckvoll, treibend, wütend Musikalisch geht es bass- und beat-lastig zur Sache. In den oft tanzbaren Stücken werden der druckvolle Basslauf und die treibenden Beats von der markanten Stimme und einem ebenso einprägsamen Gitarrensound begleitet. Manchmal schrille, oft wütende, dann wieder ruhige, kühle Synthie-Klänge unterstreichen die Anleihen beim New Wave der 1980er. Passend zu den Texten, die sich nicht zuletzt mit DDR, Wende und den nachfolgenden Baseballschlägerjahren in Ostdeutschland auseinandersetzen. Aber keine Sorge vor zu viel Vergangenheit und Nostalgie. Im Gegenteil: Frei nach dem Bandmotto "Krawall! Elektro! Pop!" schlagen die Musiker mit ihrer melancholisch-düsteren Musik und den aufwühlenden, lyrischen Texten eine Brücke ins Hier und Jetzt. Die erzeugten Emotionen bewegen Jung und Alt. Radio-Airplay, Charts und TV Mit der EP "Harte Zeiten" haben Parc de Triomphe Ende 2023 ein erstes Ausrufezeichen gesetzt. Mit Airplay auf FM4, zahlreichen Konzerten und einem TV-Auftritt sowie Platzierungen in den Austrian Indie-Charts konnte sich die Band in der Wiener Indie-Szene schon einen Namen machen. Der Song "Westradio" lief beim beliebten Berliner Sender radioeins. Auf Spotify kommen die bisher vorab veröffentlichten Singles jeweils auf Tausende Streams. Auf dem Album "Parc de Triomphe" finden sich insgesamt 12 fein produzierte (Alf Peherstorfer) Songs, die eingängig, aber nie langweilig sind, straight, aber auf ihre Art trotzdem schräg. "Geschmackvoll, eingängig und wundervoll" FM4-Moderator Andreas Gstettner-Brugger schrieb zur Single "Harte Zeiten": "Die beiden deutschen Musiker, die sich in einem Wiener Park kennengelernt haben, produzieren hier einen geschmackvollen, eingängigen und wundervollen Song, der mich an Tocotronic, frühe Blumfeld und diverse Krautrockbands erinnert." Fazit: Fans deutschsprachiger Musik, die den New-Wave-Sound der 1980er-Jahre im modernen Gewand feiern und dem Indie-Sound der frühen 1990er-Jahre nicht abgeneigt sind, sollten "Parc de Triomphe" auf ihre Plattenteller legen.

Auf ihrem dritten Album Angel erkundet die walisische Komponistin und Multiinstrumentalistin Cerys Hafana neue klangliche Wege zwischen Minimalismus, Avant-Folk und traditioneller Musik. Im Zentrum steht die walisische Triple-Harfe, deren Klang Hafana durch unkonventionelle Dämpfungstechniken verändert. Die Stücke wechseln zwischen instrumentalen Passagen und Gesangsstücken - alle auf Walisisch - begleitet von einem Trio aus Saxofon, Kontrabass und Schlagzeug. Die Musik ist atmosphärisch, experimentell und tief in der walisischen Tradition verwurzelt, ohne sich ihr unterzuordnen. Der Titeltrack basiert auf einer alten Sage über einen Mann, der durch den Gesang eines Engels in einen jahrhundertelangen Schlaf fällt - eine Geschichte, die Hafana in einem digitalen Archiv entdeckte und musikalisch neu interpretierte. Produziert wurde das Album von Owain Fleetwood Jenkins in nur vier Tagen - live und mit wenigen Takes, was dem Klang eine besondere Intimität verleiht.

AMBULANZ aus Leipzig liefern chaotischen Art-Punk, der zwischen kantigem, krautrockigem Experimentalismus und eingängigen, mitreißenden Melodien oszilliert. Zwei Stimmen spielen mit hüpfendem Bass und wirbelnden Synthesizern und balancieren dabei stets am Rande des Zerfalls. Ihre Songs beschäftigen sich mit Verlust, Angst, Drogen, flüchtiger Freude und einem Funken Hoffnung. Sie bewegen sich auf dem schmalen Grat zwischen zugänglicher Verrücktheit und Art-Haus-Freakout, ohne zu weit in eine der beiden Richtungen zu kippen. Diese Art von Balanceakt könnte leicht in Mittelmäßigkeit versinken - aber nicht hier. Unter der Oberfläche pulsiert eine unbestreitbare Lebendigkeit, die alles am Leben hält. Irgendwo zwischen Garage und Traum.

Mit "Brand New Toy" landeten The Jeremy Days 1988 einen Evergreen, der bis heute gern im Radio gespielt wird. Als "Kinder der MTV - Ära" mit ihrer Mischung aus britischem Pop und amerikanischem Art-Rock brachte The Jeremy Days in zehn Jahren fünf Longplayer auf den Markt. Ihr ersten beiden Alben "The Jeremy Days" (1988) und "Circushead" (1990) wurden von dem bekannten Produzententeam Clive Langer und Alan Winstanley produziert, die auch u. a. für Madness, Kevin Rowland & Dexys Midnight Runners, Elvis Costello, David Bowie und den Hothouse Flowers arbeiteten. Als die Band 1995 auseinanderging, hatten sie mehr als eine Mio. Tonträger verkauft. 24 Jahre später kam es auf der Bühne des Hamburger "Docks" zu einer Reunion, weitere drei Jahre danach erschien 2022 mit "Beauty in Broken" sogar ein neues Album, das eine Woche nach Veröffentlichung auf #21 in die deutschen Albumcharts einstieg. Im Oktober des gleichen Jahres trat die Band im Rahmen des Crossroads-Festivals zum ersten Mal beim WDR - Rockpalast auf. Rechtzeitig zu ihrer aktuellen Deutschland-Tournee im Oktober 2025 kommt der Rockpalast-Auftritt als CD/DVD, auf einer limitierten doppel-Vinyl in zufälliger Farbe und digital auf den Markt. 'Oh Snap' features twelve very personal songs by Salvant (plus a cover of a verse from the Commodores’ 1977 hit “Brick House), mostly recorded outside of a traditional studio environment, and which showcase her genre-spanning tastes and influences. The MacArthur Fellow and three-time Grammy-winning singer and composer wrote these short, intimate songs as part of a creative quest: to place spontaneity and joy at the centre of her writing process, and originally recorded them alone, at home, never intending for them to be released, using digital tools and effects that she had never played with before, like GarageBand, Logic, AutoTune, Midi plugins, drum loops, vocal effects, reverb, and filters. The songs reflect Salvant’s wide-ranging musical influences from her 1990s childhood in Miami—from boy bands to grunge to classical to folk—and include party tracks with beats, samba grooves, and quiet folk songs. A photo in Rodney Stepp’s scrapbook sums this period in his life in music. It’s 1974, The Spinners were headliners at the “Zaire 74” music festival, a sideshow to Muhammad Ali’s fabled “Rumble in the Jungle” fight with George Foreman. Among the faded snapshots, there’s a picture of Stepp backstage posing arm in arm with Ali; another image shows The Greatest seated at Stepp’s Fender Rhodes alongside vocalist Etta James. It was all a dream for this Naptown wunderkind, who had previously recorded for Herb Miller’s LAMP Records as the Diplomatics and had issued the sweet soul killer “Young Girl” as Jazzie Cazzie and the Eight Sounds on a rare Knaptown 45. (These recordings have been documented on the Now-Again LAMP anthology and our Loving On The Flipside compilation.) But as exciting as his rise out of those local status was, as exciting as it was to headline festivals and arenas and appear on late night talk shows, Stepp grew restless with the mechanical routine of being a sideman. He grew tired of playing the same charts night after night. He was hungry for a creative outlet that mimicked his earliest days in recorded music. So, in 1978, Stepp left The Spinners and returned to Indianapolis, where he established an all-stargroup of musicians–including members of Jazzie Cazzie and the fabled Amnesty–and he named the band Rapture. They inspired countless others. They recorded an album’s worth of material. Now-Again’s Egon first got tapes from Stepp in 2002 and dutifully transferred them, but the time was not right for a foray into this wealth of material. Come 2025, and this is the first time it Rapture’s music is seeing the light of day, a triumphant, late career moment for Stepp and a cause for celebration of those intrigued by deep, sweet soul and disco funk

Released in 1996 at the height of Britpop’s cultural takeover, Free Peace Sweet saw Dodgy break into the mainstream with a sun-drenched sound that set them apart from their more angst-ridden peers. Bursting with optimism, melody, and a touch of psychedelic sparkle, the album became the band’s biggest commercial success. Its lead single, "Good Enough", was a bona fide anthem, climbing to No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart—Dodgy’s highest-charting track to date. Jonathan Sings! is the fourth album by American rock band Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers, and was released in 1983. Richman emerges as an incurable romantic on Jonathan Sings!, an infectiously sunny effort which stands among his finest LPs. Frank Zappas episches Album „One Size Fits All“ aus dem Jahr 1975 feiert sein 50-jähriges Jubiläum
mit einem weiteren vollgepackten Multi-Disc-Box-Set mit 75 % unveröffentlichtem Material. Die Box enthält vier CDs mit dem 2012 von der Legende Bob Ludwig neu gemasterten Hauptalbum sowie anderthalb
Discs mit Studio-Outtakes, Live-Konzerten, Work-Mixes und relevanten Vault-Tracks. Die Live-Besetzung
bestand aus der klassischen 6-köpfigen Band mit George Duke und Ruth Underwood.Ruth Underwood
steuerte auch neue Linernotes für das Paket bei, zusammen mit historischen Essays von David Fricke und
„Vaultmeister“ Joe Travers. Das Booklet zum 50. Jahrestag enthält außerdem neu veröffentlichte Fotos

Die Blu-Ray Disc enthält brandneue Dolby Atmos- und 5.1-Mischungen direkt von den 24-Spur-Masterbändern

"Alternative rock band Kanadia have announced their third album The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home for release on September 26th.
The album showcases an abundance of dreamlike rich soundscapes, massive hooks, and haunting melodies throughout its expansive 50-minute journey examining the fragility and beauty of human emotion.
The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home has been recorded at Evolution Recording Studios in their Oxford hometown, produced by Willie J. Healey guitarist Chris Barker and mixed by Tom Leach (Lewis Capaldi, Pa Salieu, Spiritualized) at Snap Studios, London. Kanadia have recently treated audiences to songs from the forthcoming album live on their recent UK tour with Black Foxxes. "Recorded in 1959, Gerry Mulligan Meets Johnny Hodges is heralded as one of the best of Mulligan’s recorded pairings with fellow instrumentalists. On this date, the two saxophonists are joined by a solid rhythm section of Claude Williamson (piano), Buddy Clark (bass) and Mel Lewis (drums), splitting the repertoire across three originals each from Mulligan and Hodges. The two complement the other throughout with the exception of Mulligan’s ‘What’s the Rush’, where the baritonist sits out altogether in favour of Hodges’ alto taking the spotlight.

Written while Thofte adjusted to fatherhood - the album captures moments of joy, reflection, and experimentation, brought to life by a handpicked quintet of Denmark"s most exciting young jazz talents. Martha"s Dance is set for release on September 19th, 2025 via April Records. The title track is a tribute to Thofte"s three-year-old daughter - a playful, clapping, goat-hoof-stomping tune in quirky 5/4 that channels the spirit of childhood joy and spontaneity. "It"s just a fun tune to play, and I feel like it really captures Martha"s spirit," says Thofte. "This band came together at a time when I was trying to get a foothold in a new life situation as a father, so it felt perfect to make this the title track." The album moves between moods and textures with elegance: from the rich harmonic language of "Vice Versa" - inspired by Wayne Shorter"s ability to cast simple melodies in shifting harmonic light - to the understated power of "Changing Tides," a piece about imperceptible gradual changes in our lives, nature, and politics. "Bendico," written in 15 minutes as a conservatory assignment, showcases Thofte"s gift for strong melodic statements, while "Dunkelflaute" evokes melancholic Nordic greyness through sparse, emotive phrasing. From the swaggering second-line feel of "The Big 5" to the hypnotic pulse of "All...", the album explores rhythm as both a driving force and a canvas for creative interplay. Throughout, Thofte"s trumpet and flugelhorn lead the ensemble with warmth and clarity. The quintet features some of Copenhagen"s top next-generation players: Andreas Toftemark (tenor saxophone), a powerhouse improviser and composer who brings NYC-honed energy and detail to the group dynamic. Rasmus Sorensen (piano), a rising star of the European scene, known for his sensitive, exploratory playing and fearless interaction. Jakob Roland (bass) and Henrik Holst (drums) - two of Thofte"s oldest musical collaborators - round out the rhythm section with deep swing, taste, and musical empathy.

Gregg Deal, the acclaimed visual and performance artist behind his new project Dead Pioneers, is making a claim that Indigenous Americans were the first real punks. Deal suggests that the overarching theme of the album is "an introduction to the band itself". Created with a DIY disposition and the "love of a scene that saves lives", they reel off a roll call of marginalised groups and protected characteristics: "Indigenous rights, Black rights, Brown rights, Asian rights, Gay rights, Trans rights, Workers rights and beyond_". This is central to their identity and focus, saying that "with a North American Indigenous person as the vocalist, being unapologetically upfront on the social, political and cultural side of things doesn't seem necessary, but paramount to the overall tone of the band." This self-titled debut, coming in at a lithe 22 minutes with only one of the twelve tracks exceeding three minutes, is almost over before it begins, but covers a huge amount of ground in that time. Blistering opener 'Tired' sets out their stall; as with the whole album, it is passionate, but never preaching. Capitalised 'Political Music' can be hard to land without coming across as hectoring or earnest, but Deal's literary, humorous lyrics effortlessly cut through complex issues of marginalisation and colonialism.
