Fasziniert von der Dynamik elektronischer Tanzmusik und der ungeheuren Kraft und Reichhaltigkeit von Live-Instrumenten, schufen Chris Davids und Liam Ivory, aka Maribou State, mit "Portraits" ein unwiderstehliches Album. Es ist ein Album, auf dem sich Organisches und Synthetisches umarmen und an James Blake oder SOHN erinnern und dessen Groove es durchaus mit dem von Moloko aufnehmen kann. Maribou State setzen uns atmosphärischen Dubstep gepaart mit House und einer gesunden Prise Pop vor - "glitchy, sad and slow" (The Guardian), aber ungeheuer tanzbar und garantiert aus der Mitte des Herzens kommend. Following the success of their fourth studio album "Smoke" and touring for over a year Dapayk & Padberg felt ready to release the single "Come Out". Their brand new track is fresh and present, making it the perfect tool to dance into spring and get rid of thick winter clothing. On the B side the Berlin-based electronic duo presents two more album remixes. The pole Mooryc wraps the title track "Smoke" in his fragile, soulful and bass-driven slow-mo-electronica. Dublin's Eomac extends the list of 'Silent Fireworks' remixes. A deep wobbling sub bass combined with broken beats and spheric pad sounds give the original an eccentric touch of Dubstep.

Since its 2005 debut, Torsten Profrock's T++ project has grown in stature and scope to the point where it's admired by fans of techno, dubstep, d'n'b and experimental electronics alike, and annexed by none. Anchored in the kind of scuffed, sub-heavy atmospherics Profrock developed in his 90s recordings for Chain Reaction, and naturally influenced by his work with Robert Henke as Monolake, the sound of T++ is singular, always evolving, difficult to fix.
Long ago snagged by the rhythmic innovations of the post-jungle underground, here Profrock makes explicit his debt to the radical fringe of UK garage. Snapping 2-step rhythms are at the heart of all four tracks; for all the distress, deconstruction and detournement they undergo at his hands, the spirit and swing of the British soundsystem tradition is unmistakable.
Further, Wireless is a kind of remix, a commission, shot through with the contorted samples of voice and ndingidi from a handful of old East African 78s (collected on the Honest Jon's compilation Something Is Wrong).
The result is a record that sounds at once ancient and modern, possessing a unique tonal language, and with it a curious, almost occult power — his most expressive, energetic and fully-realised work, affirming the enduring fundamentals of the T++ aesthetic even as it steers it into uncharted climes.

House Of Black Lanterns is the latest musical project from Dylan Richards, the man behind the King Cannibal and Zilla monikers (on the Ninja Tine and Warp Records labels respectively). With an album and two singles out in 2013 on the highly respected Houndstooth label, Richards returns with a deadly EP for Hypercolour, backed with a very fine Mosca remix.

In its Original Mix, 'The Smack' is a dense and atmospheric production, the slow pace and chugging bassline evoking shades of early Chicago house but with a thoroughly modern UK twist. Filled with tension and drama, 'The Smack' is a big sounding record that cuts through so many genre sounds from dub techno to dubstep but sounds entirely individual and unique.

Mosca steps up to the remix, following on from the launch of his new label Not So Much, and remixes for Alland Byallo and Sweatshop Boys. Taking 'The Smack' up to an altogether skanking tempo, Mosca plummets the Basic Channel school of sound for the aptly titled 'Dread At The Controls' version. Spring reverb all over the joint as Mosca works the droning synths and fire & brimstone vibes over a watertight, dub heavy workout. 'Grey Leather Glass' takes things up a notch, continuing the HOBL theme of dark & shadowy techno sounds with heaps of drama and sinister twists and turns, like some cinematic score to a Wes Craven slasher epic, and '8 Million Stories' cuts up vocal chops, finger snaps and piano stabs over a brooding house production. Deliciously dark music from HOBL here....

in studios over the course of more than six months. As a result hip-hop from the squats of Naples,
dubstep and bass from Bristol and Lisbon, experimental techno from Berlin and jazz-tnged deep-house
from Kiev are thrust upon the pumping kuduro of Luanda, the free-thinking crackled electronica of
Cairo, the afro-jazz of Lagos & Johnannesburg, and the Sheng street slang of Kenyan hip-hop and rap.
A selecton of the results of these cross-contnental experiments can be heard on this record.

The world of roots reggae & dancehall has been fully awoken to the fantastic analogue sounds of Kalbata & Mixmonsters' music - and even Rob Da Bank, Robert Elms, & Toddla T and The Wire magazine have supported and enthusiastically raved about their brand new yet wonderfully old school music.

And now - in time for summer festivals and carnivals, the floor shaking, speaker rattling track Congo Beat The Drum featuring Major Mackerel gets the 12 inch single treatment. The pounding drums and the larynx busting vocal performance from the Jamaican veteran is an unstoppable, unforgettable and frankly mesmerising experience!

Released alongside the original (and an instrumental version of stand out album track Out Of Road) is an amazing remix by Kahn - the Bristol based producer, renowned dubstepper, remixer, member of the Sureskank Collective - who with this remix displays his mastery of blending all kinds of styles, and injects his remix with some of his favourite influences - including Middle Eastern music scales - which ensures his reworking of Congo Beat The Drum is fresh, original and inspiring.

This single will be one of the sound system hits of summer 2014!

From the brosteppers to the deep heads this record has been getting love from all corners of the earth. progression in the style and quality of LX One's signature dark, minimal sound. This release once again puts his
productions at the pinnacle of modern Dubstep. Distorted Politics is a fresh tribal banger with rib shaking bass and infectious percussion. Once again this has featured massively in N- Type, Youngsta, J:Kenzo, Icicle & LX One's DJ sets, and is another testament to his talent.

Hailing from LA, Atlantic Connection has been pioneering his own style of ''future soul'' a signature blend of soul, R&B, dubstep and bass music.

For the 63th vinyl installment by Fokuz Recordings he delivers two exciting pieces of d&b aimed towards the soulful spectrum of the genre. The 12'' kicks off with 'One Moment', a heartfelt roller with beautiful chopped samples, textures and tones.

*A pure slab of noise... a ruckus on vinyl! A limited edition piece of wax featuring remixes by the Circus Records superstars Funtcase & Genetix.

*Funtcase has been producing since being inspired by d&b as a kid growing up in Bournemouth. In 2009 he created his dubstep alias Funtcase and released his first single on 4:20 Records. The following year he signed with Circus Records and released the killa 'So Vexxed/Matress Punch'. He is also known for his standout remixes, including mixes for Plan B, Camo & Krooked, The Wideboys & Skizm.

*For this remix Passenger organised Spyda (Pendulum 'Black Tarantula'/Knife Party 'Fire Hive') back into the vocal booth to lay down some fresh vocals for the remix. A former Passenger vinyl buyer, Funtcase is no stranger to the sounds of the label and adds his own nod to its history by flipping some breakbeat twists and turns to proceedings to create what many are saying is his best remix to date!

*The flipside remix is from fellow Circus Records crew members and Bournemouth badmen Genetix. Following a similar path to Funtcase, Matt & Rich started off making d&b before switching the tempo and laying down some filth at 140. With regular appearances on the MistaJam's radio show, guest mixes on KissFm for Hatcha and Crazy D and remixes for the likes of Bassline Smith & Drumsound and Kelly Clarkson, to name a few, these guys are continuing a south coast tradition of bass noise and terror.

*With the label instructions to 'make it as heavy as you can, Genetix took the vocal of Sporty-O, recorded at DJ Lethal's (House Of Pain/Limp Biskit/La Coka Nostra) studio in LA back in 2007, and brought it up to speed with a track that flips from militant dubstep into some proper 808 trap biz.

After a long period of rest, Destpub returns in the game. Used to cain dancefloors with hard and heavy dubstep, the french label is bringing out its 11th output on the footwork vibe. New orientation came up after discovering those tracks made respectivly by Pushy and Son of a Pitch. Surprised and pleased by the atmosphear and rhythm of their music, the label thought it was the right time to hit back wax...

Terror Danjah's second Hyperdub album is 'The Dark Crawler', a well-paced and much more upfront and energetic journey through his musical world than his debut 'Undeniable'. The album revolves around the 'Dark Crawler' theme, a blistering grime track that pops up several times, vocaled by MC's Riko Dan, Mayhem, Deadly and Saf One, and then lastly Trim and Kossie. That's not to say the album is one dimensional or relentless. It's subtley balanced with the 'Dark Crawler' thread of tracks allowing the album to spin off in a web of directions without losing any focus. It's a much more contained body of work, paced to keep the listeners interest. From the 'Dark Crawler' intro into the cartoonish horror soundtrack of 'Mirror's Edge', which tricks you into thinking its just any dubstep tune, before scattering into Terror's signature broken kicks and claps. 'Dark Gremlinz' featuring D.O.K. is a classic peak-era asymmetric grime instrumental. The album then drops down into the 130ish speed of 'Air Max 90' featuring Champion, which builds from a soca-like drum drill stretching the rhythm to the point of collapse with a wonky synth, before concluding on a driving baseline house 4/4. The first 'Dark Crawler' vocal is next, with a ferocious performance from veteran Roll Deep MC Riko Dan, who drops bloodthirsty threats at a breakneck pace. Next, the tempo drops down again to the drunk funk of 'Full Hundred', with criss cross claps and a rasping bassline breaking down into live drumming and tight trap door edits. Things speed up a little again with the intricate 8 bar funky of 'Rum Punch', a hard drum tattoo rolling out over a heavy detuned bassline and intense bleeps. On the second 'Dark Crawler', mic duties are shared by Birmingham MC's Mayhem , Deadly and Saf One. Their hard vocals contrast with lush styled R'n'B of 'You Make Me Feel' featuring Meleka. The album then rolls out into the galloping drums and smooth G-Funk synths of 'Baby Oil'. Trim and Kossie drop the final 'Dark Crawler' vocal, with Trim dropping deadpan threats contesting with Kossie's focussed hysteria. Next up 'Delicately', with Ruby Lee Rider, starts in slow motion R'n'B mood, sweet Rhodes chords drift and bubble up as the track doubles up into dreamy drum and bass with a fluttering tabla keeping the time, and Ruby's tender vocals tempering the pace and aggression. Overall, it's a brilliant exercise in breathless rhythmic arousal. 'Moschino', on the other hand is a darker, chunkier and grimier mirror image to 'Delicately', switching up into a ferocious metallic riffage, before the album closes on an outro of 'Dark Crawler' again. Form, function, energy and talent fuse perfectly over 'The Dark Crawler' s length. Enjoy the ride.

PianoBatacaZoo provides us his most powerful set up ever: vibrations and Deep- House oriented strokes charged with baroque sensuality, decorating and presenting himself extra sensitive through solid percussion lines that come from UK-Funky, counteracting with elegant shines of real instruments. MNGC, a more minimal cut built from an explicit mutant bass line that works as the spine that receives new tools through the playing of the tune: dry falterings, bipolar personality that makes his own the mysticism of the original Dubstep or the synth motifs connected with the intensity of the Deep Techno. Jimmy Edgar adds a virtuous, erotic and visceral layers of manicure to PianoBatacaZoo, charging the record with positive electrons and amplifying his prole of inuential collage.

Soap Dodgers long awaited Unleashed EP, featuring tracks battered by N-Type Youngsta, Hatcha, Dismantle, MistaJam and Tubby Newham Generals.Unleashed: Unleash the beast! Skanking dark half stepper with the energy to match any tear out tune. Bassline is raw and twisted, dark and industrial. This track is thick with sub, but spacious following the code of the original dubstep sound.Waterlanding: This track was championed by Youngsta late last year. Future dub technologies, skanking reggae dub style with a 2012 twisted bass and 808s.Strobes: Catering for the more jump up side, this is the lighter side of the E.P, as its title suggests, rave driven glitchy, hard and furious. Reminiscent of Benga and The Others.Twister: Euphoric build ups, industrial filtered bass, and a sample that spells it all out; Twisted! A favourite with N-Type & Walsh.
