After a twelve-year hiatus, Tobor Experiment emerges from the shadows with their second LP, "Available Forms". In traditional jazz style we receive solo's from all parties. Each instrument adding its unique voice to the narrative, creating a dynamic and engaging musical conversation.

As the album progresses, "Moonscape Dust" emerges, drawing inspiration from the atmospheric brilliance of "Low." This track serves as a portal to an otherworldly sonic landscape where time and space lose their hold. DeYarmond Edison war der Vorläufer von Bon Iver und Megafaun. Im Sommer 2005 verließen vier Freunde Wisconsin in Richtung North Carolina mit einem einzigen Ziel: der Folk-Rock-Flaute zu entkommen. Während eines Jahres intensiver Konzentration, des Studiums und der Verletzlichkeit taten sie genau das, indem sie an den ekstatischen Rand des New Weird America vordrangen und von allem ein bisschen ausprobierten - Grindcore und Gospel, Free Jazz und Phasenstücke, Bluegrass und Blues - und es in DeYarmond Edison packten. Aber ein Großteil von Epoch unterstreicht die einzigartige Sichtweise der Gruppe auf amerikanisches Songwriting, auf das Nehmen von Patchworks, das Finden der Akkorde und das Singen aus vollem Herzen. "Trials, Troubles and Tribulations" ist ein Beispiel dafür. Die Viking Metal Giganten SKÁLMÖD auf den Spuren der nordischen Mythologie Mit Ýdalir blicken die Viking Metal Größen SKÁLMÖD auf die Veröffentlichung ihres sechsten Studioalbums, das am 18. August 2023 via Napalm Records erscheint. Ihr erstes Studioalbum seit fünf Jahren ist von dem nordischen Gedicht Grímnismál, einer berühmten Sage aus ihrer Heimat Island, inspiriert. Die Band begeistert nicht nur Fans bei Festivalauftritten wie auf dem Wacken Open Air, auch der isländische Präsident Guðni Th. Jóhannesson unterstützt die Band und ist sogar im Vorwort ihres offiziellen Buches The Saga Of Skálmöld (2021) verewigt. Basierend auf der nordischen Mythologie thematisiert „Skuld“ die Schwesternschaft des Nornen Trios, das über das Schicksals der Menschen entscheidet, was SKÁLMÖD mit düsteren Bass- und Gitarrenmelodien illustrieren. Mit Ýdalir liefert die Viking Metal Instanz SKÁLMÖLD auf ihrem neuen Album erneut mystische Momente, die sie auf diesjährigen Festivalauftritten wie dem Wacken oder dem Summer Breeze unter Beweis stellen werden.

Recoil ist das musikalische Projekt des ehemaligen Depeche Mode-Mitglieds Alan Wilder. Mute veröffentlicht die letzten drei Recoil Alben „Liquid“, „Unsound Methods“ und „subHuman“ am 7. Oktober neu, jeweils auf CD und farbiger Doppel-Vinyl. Ursprünglich ein Soloprojekt für Alans experimentelle Arbeit außerhalb von Depeche Mode, wurde Recoil zu seinem wichtigsten Musikprojekt, nachdem er 1995 seinen Ausstieg aus der Band bekannt gab.

Nach einer 6-jährigen Aufnahmepause kehrte Alan Wilder mit dem fünften Studioalbum von Recoil, „subHuman“, zurück. Dieses düstere elektronische Album, das den Hörer vor die Herausforderung stellt, zu analysieren, was uns zu Menschen und zu Untermenschen macht, ist eine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Blueser Joe Richardson, auf den Wilder über eine Google-Suche stieß. Richardson steuerte Gitarre, Mundharmonika und unheimlichen Gesang bei, der sich mit Themen wie Mord, Tod und Religion beschäftigt. Die Sängerin Carla Trevaskis ist mit ihrem ätherischen Gesang auf "Allelujah" zu hören.

When Ryan Olcott, songwriter and frontman of Twin Cities’ iconic indie rock band 12 Rods, found unfinished Rods demos during lockdown, he was surprised. When he realized they were good, he was shocked. He quickly set to finishing and recording the compositions, which became If We Stayed Alive, the first 12 Rods album in twenty-one years. “These are songs that I forgot about,” he explains, “but upon finding them, I thought, ‘Wow, these are actually okay.’” That was the easy part. Reacquainting himself with twenty-year-removed craft and technique took some getting used to -- some parts longer than others. He recorded all the instruments in a week, but vocals took a bit longer. “Oh my god!” he laughs, “it took a couple days to get my voice back with that range and that power, but I could do it.” Any cobwebs that needed dusting are long gone. If We Stayed Alive is everything longtime fans have wanted, and the perfect introduction to what some called “America’s Radiohead" and what others have called one of the best indie bands of the ‘90s.

The collaboration between Klara Lewis and Nik Colk Void somehow seemed inevitable. Both artists having seen their releases published by Editions Mego, individually carving out idiosyncratic voices in the worlds of extreme, abstract electronic music. With Full-On, Lewis and Void explore and assimilate the very edge of their individual practice where a unique collaborative interface allows two voices to combine and morph into a third voice.


Lewis and Void play ping pong with the conversation of sounds, generating ideas and bouncing them off each other, simultaneously encouraging the other to go further with their ideas opening up an opportunity to engage with previously unexplored terrain. Guitars, synths, euro rack modular systems, voice, sampling and outboard processing are folded in a playful unification with a propensity to tease, explore and extract new ideas and shapes, sometimes brutal, sometimes playful.

Trust was also a compositional tool allowing instinct to freely move on any aspect of the sound and space. This sound/feeling/instinct/association let this wild and wonderful material grow organically into something new.

The result of this exploratory interplay are 17 intense miniatures reveling in the process of unadulterated experimentation and whimsical interplay, not just between the humans, but the machines themselves. United in an endless series of sonic U-turns, this daring duo intertwine pop and noise whilst also bringing together visions of tender techno and forthright ambient.

The various zones which manifest from all this reveals vocals shifting in mysterious ways, dust drenched beats churning limpidly and devilish string loops navigating a disorientating domain. The experience of listening to Full-On is to be confronted with a range of ideas resulting in a platter of emotions. A place where beauty and the beast collide with the impulsive and outright weird. What a wonderful world.

Utilizing crystalline-quality safety masters kept in the Zappa family vault for decades by the trustworthy Joe Travers, the audio here is positively glorious. Every last skronk breathes full life into the room. Every twisted guitar figure uncurls onto paths previously unpaved. Every last bark and howl shines resolute through the vast emptiness of your mind. Previous countless Trout Mask Replica repressings used scans of scans of scans of the cover image, but the original Cal Schenkel cover photo has been tracked down and reproduced here at its clearest — its resolution from the original release in 1969. If you’ve only ever seen a jpg online or fuzzy, smeared-looking CD issues from the 90’s, be prepared to be wowed by the fully engaging spectrum this iconic image casts. This 2xLP is pressed on heavyweight 180-gram black vinyl for that full-on frenetic feeling.

For the 20th Samurai Red Seal 12 we welcome the grand master of breakbeats for his debut with Samurai Red Seal. Paradox now appears rarely outside his own labels so we are honoured to have him as a special guest on Samurai Red Seal. 'Scorpius' is a potent, menacing, refurbishing of the golden years of DnB with the heaviest drums and bass on any tune in your set.'Crate Logic' is perhaps the funkiest tune you will hear in the genre in 2013, built around an authentic funk break that is transformed into and unmistakeable Paradox groove. The full artwork dedicated sleeve is designed around the ethos and theme of the 12, reflecting the dusty crate groove and highlighting the lost artform of 'crate digging' in modern DnB. This will be the 147th Paradox 12 single!

FAR aka Simon and Robin Lee's Faze Action Records serve up a special 7" featuring Faze Action's 'Fantasy' which sounds very much like a tune you might unearth in some dusty old crate that hasn't been heard since the 70s and 80s. It has lush synths reaching up to the stars and gentle disco beats that sweep you off your feet. The bustling arrangement bubbles with subtle energy and gorgeous vocals are layered in for extra escapist magic. On the flip is an instrumental that is pared back and more direct, but both tunes really do take you into a fantasy world.

Ursprünglich 1995 veröffentlicht, ist SPANNERS das zweite Album von The Black Dog und ihr erstes für Warp Records. Im Jahr 2017 feierte es Pitchfork als eines der '50 besten IDM-Alben aller Zeiten', das nun erstmals seit der Originalpressung 1995 wieder auf Vinyl erscheint. Nach SPANNERS ging das ursprüngliche Trio Ed Handley, Andy Turner und Ken Downie getrennte Wege - Handley und Turner gründeten Plaid, während Downie den Namen The Black Dog zunächst allein und später mit der Unterstützung der Brüder Martin und Richard Dust weiterführte. Die Reissue besteht aus exakten Repliken der Originalausgaben, das Album wurde von Beau Thomas @ Ten Eight Seven Mastering für klassisch-schwarzes Vinyl neu geschnitten.

Lo-Fi India Abuse was recorded in 1998, some tracks are “pure” Muslimgauze and some are re-mixs of tracks from Systemwide’s “Sirius” CD (see also Systemwide meets Muslimgauze “at the City of the Dead” 12″). Nearly all of the tracks have hand percussion in varying tempos and intensities and at least 1/2 make use of electronic noise surges. The sound is very crisp and clean, extremely well produced, recorded and nicely varied throughout the length of the disc. Some track by track comments: “Antalya” is obviously from the same sessions as “Fakir Sind” seeing as it shares the same hand percussion sound, whistles, vocal wailing, cut-ups and delays. “Valencia Flames” sounds like a Systemwide remix. A dub bass line, hi-hat and background vocal of some sort are all obliterated by numerous delays, starts, stops and re-starts with an unpredictable nature in these cut-up tracks. “Al Souk Dub” injects background voices, market sounds and drones into the cut-up mix of slow hand percussion playing. “Catacomb Dub” and the final two tracks make use of twinkling synth waves, presumably a Systemwide sound source. “Dust of Saqqara” has a heavy pulsating electronic sound wave over an old beat box rhythm. “Android Cleaver” is brutal (as is “Nommos’ Afterburn”) hand percussion, jabs of noise and an oft repeated, unintelligible vocal sample. Yes, Lo-Fi India Abuse is yet another great Muslimgauze release, grab it!

Von ihrer selbstbetitelten Debüt-EP im Jahr 2019 bis zu ihrem ersten Album 'Moonlit Cross' zwei Jahre später ging der Aufstieg von THE NIGHT ETERNAL rasant. Die Ästhetik des deutschen Quintetts stand von Anfang an fest – melodischer, aber dennoch stimmungsvoller Heavy Metal mit mehr als einem Hauch der teuflischen Vergangenheit des Hard Rock – aber selbst der Übergang von der EP zum Album bewies, dass ihre Vision immer noch die dunkleren Nuancen des Heavy Metals auslotete. „Beugen, aber nicht brechen“, lautet die Devise, und THE NIGHT ETERNAL kehren weitere zwei Jahre später mit einem Album zurück, das mehr Dunkelheit denn je erforscht.

Das zweite Album von THE NIGHT ETERNAL mit dem Titel 'Fatale' strahlt sofort eine berauschende Aura aus: härter, schwerer und definitiv DUNKLER, und doch auch irgendwie sanfter und geheimnisvoller. Dynamik spielt hier eine Schlüsselrolle: Während die Deutschen immer noch hart rocken, färbt ein feines Gespür für Nuancen diese neun Hymnen, die eine fast violette Samtatmosphäre haben. Passend dazu strotzt ihre ohnehin schon überragende Melodik vor hymnischer Energie, selbst wenn sie entscheiden, düsterere Schritte ins Jenseits unternehmen. Das Ergebnis ist unwiderruflich ein verblüffend einzigartig und eigenständiger Sound und Stil.

„Unser Versuch für Fatale war es, THE NIGHT ETERNAL noch mehr nach uns selbst klingen zu lassen. Wir haben versucht, gleichzeitig die Melodien und Riffs eingängiger zu machen und dem Gesamtsound eine härtere, düsterere und zeitlosere Note zu verleihen.“

'Fatale' bietet eine kraftvolle, kristallklare Produktion von Marco Brinkmann, abgerundet durch Arthur Rizks Mastering. Der zweite Longplayer von THE NIGHT ETERNAL ist groß und geräumig, bewahrt aber auf magische Weise Intimität und Geheimnisvolles. Es klingt und fühlt sich stadiontauglich an, ganz wie ihre Gründungshelden Judas Priest, Iron Maiden und die Scorpions. Aber auch hier kann nicht genug betont werden, wie 'Fatale' die Band nachhaltig zu einer einzigartigen Einheit macht.

"Fatale" strahlt sofort eine berauschende Aura aus, die Fans von TRIBULATION, THE DEVILS BLOOD, IN SOLITUDE und UNTO OTHERS sofort in ihre Bann ziehen wird!

NoCorner and Stone King proudly presents the first official collaboration between Ossia and Andy Mac. Both are fresh off a series of high-profile releases and projects - Ossia with recent releases on Berceuse Heroique and Blackest Ever Black, and Andy with his new Deep Street label and the 2nd Diving Bird 12 that just came through on Idle Hands.

Featuring three tracks written & recorded between 2015 and 2017, the record sees Andy & Ossia's mutual love for Jamaican and African rhythms, dusty records and a tape-saturated approach to guide a fresh, dubwise production process involving a battered old Roland Sampler and Ossia's infamous half-broken analogue Trident Mixing desk.

A Side Soup Riddim serves itself up as a hybrid slab of dancehall, dub and perhaps even the looser stylings of house - a fresh twist with an eternally-universal emphasis on space, and the movement within it. On the flip, Cado leans even further into negative space, allowing a gorgeous piece of samplism to drive the rhythm all the way to its conclusion in the blink of an eye, with the soft insistence of the percussion playing with the listener's sense of time. This feeling intensifies in the final track, Linguine Loop. A shapeshifting low-frequency hum underpins a hypnotic melodic loop that develops, delays and distorts into a dizzying crescendo of feedback and noise. The final minutes serve as a final reflection on what came before as the melody slowly re-filters into the mix as a ghostly, half-there form of itself, drawing the reductive conclusion to this EP, a triple version excursion of far-away sounds.

Auf "Amongst the Low & Empty" wird der wütende Deathcore von SIGNS OF THE SWARM mit einer gehörigen Portion Groove und Industrial-Impulsen angereichert, die Vergleiche mit Meshuggah, Deftones und Fear Factory nahelegen. Die Band aus Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, erreicht damit eine neue Ebene der Düsternis - der Soundtrack zu einer nicht allzu fernen dystopischen Zukunft, während ihre eigene heller denn je brennt. Das Feuer wurde von Co-Produzent und Mixer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, King 810, Tallah) entfacht, der über einen Monat lang im Studio an dem Album arbeitete, wobei Schlagzeuger Bobby Crow das Fundament legte, auf dem alles aufgebaut wurde.
