Their performance is the ultimate extreme visual music project in which techno, black metal, and industrial unite to create a ritual from the near future, 2099. All visual art and stage setting is provided by non-touring member, artist and programmer Kezzardrix (who has been visual director for millennium parade and BABYMETAL previously).The power consumption of a VMO show is equivalent to 56 guitar amplifiers, 5000W, a mind-expanding supreme noise and light experience. The band members all go by the names of classic black metal bands rendered in the Japanese katakana script; “ダークスローン”; “メイヘム”, and “エンペラー”. Their new LP is the first to feature lead vocalist ザスター. The record features guest vocals from extreme metal icon Attila Csihar, known for singing with Mayhem and Sunn O))). Other featured artists include Dylan Walker, singer of Full of Hell, punk-techno artist Infinity Division (aka Ash Luk), Icelandic darkwavers Kælan Mikla and Ican Harem of Gabber Modus Operandi. The result is a leap forward from their 2016 debut, where they have found a singularity where death metal meets Kraftwerk, or Rephlex goes black. Dressed in corpse paint and other hell-raising looks, onstage they are like “Shinigami (death gods) from the Death Note manga”. Singles Venom, Supergaze and Martello Mosh Pit featuring Gabber Eleganza have been released in the lead up to the record and have been shocking techno dance floors too with their hi-NRG-symphonic doom-gaze. They have shared their video for Planet Helvetech (here), created by Berlin-based Patrick Defasten. Helvetech combines the Norwegian word for hell (hevlete) with techno and is a reference to the infamous black metal shop founded by Mayhem’s Euronymous. It’s a song that imagines time travel from 2099 on the planet Helvetech (where VMO comes from) to 1990s Oslo. In 2023, they performed at the CTM festival in Berlin, as well as at Berghain, receiving rave reviews. At Sydney’s leading multi-sensory SOFT CENTER festival they drove the crowd into a frenzy on the 17 metre X 30 metre jumbo screen. They have also collaborated with artists, performing at the two day installation by the trailblazing Tianzhuo Chen - The Shepherd - at the Kyoto International Performing Arts Festival in 2021 here. At Sónar 2023, VMO provided the music for Taiwanese visual artist Yuen Hsieh’s work about virtual life after death DIGITAL AFTERLIFE AGENCY here. VMO will tour the world again for the new record, with appearances at ROSKILDE and media art and music fest Sónar 2024 announced so far and the DEATH RAVE experience getting bigger and bigger.

This latest instalment of ARTHUR BAKER Presents DANCE MASTERS finds the production/ song-writing/ remixing maestro taking the spotlight for a long overdue snapshot of his own classic 12” mixes during a crucial evolution of dance music, club
and pop culture.

“I’ve always felt like I was on a mission to make music from the time I heard Motown, Philly and Sly and the Family Stone. My mission started as a hobby and still feels like one now. You’ve got to keep on pushing and hustling. It can be a drag sometimes but
if you really love what you’re doing, it’s worth the work. I still really love what I do.”

Arthur Baker helped codify the remixer as artist. His genre-fluid approach to projects
has resulted in a joyous myriad of classics that spans many decades. This ’80’s focused DANCE MASTERS collection offers a welcome glimpse at Baker’s illustrious career and many long out-of-print 12” versions and previously unavailable mixes.

This 35-track, six LP expanded edition includes a wide array of selections from the likes of Robbie Nevil’s “C’est La Vie,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Big Love,” Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance”, Jeffrey Osborne “Soweto”, Freeez “I.O.U”, Rockers Revenge “Walking On Sunshine” and of course the juggernaut “Planet Rock” with Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force.

Complete with in-depth liner notes by Bill Coleman, track by track notes written by Arthur Baker himself, previously unseen session photos from Arthur’s personal archives and a signed insert.

Over three years after the release of his latest record, Belgian singer-songwriter Bram Vanparys finally returns with breathtaking new music. His songwriting has often drawn comparisons to the music of Bob Dylan and Neil Young, but the new record 'Silent Days' reveals that Vanparys has been on a journey into new musical territory.

After 'Wild Flowers' (2015), which he recorded in Los Angeles with Ray LaMontagne's former live band, Bram Vanparys kept his guitars locked away in their cases for months. Too many questions had been bothering him and soon he found himself struggling with his musical direction and his artistic integrity. Partly so because he felt that his almost archaic approach on songwriting was pushing him down a dead end street and partly because his interest in rich and complex arrangements started to grow stronger. In 2016 he bought an old trailer and went living in the countryside to work on his new sound. A harsh winter and a tragic breakup with his wife set the mood for a new set of songs and soon Vanparys started recording again.

'Silent Days' comprises both classic songwriting reminiscent of the old masters such as Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and on the other hand dark, complex arrangements that refer to late Talk Talk and even Radiohead. Guitars were played with kitchen knives and the heavily manipulated acoustic sounds reveal that Vanparys might have been listening to Kurt Vile. Bram's lyrics are deeply honest, touching, but never sentimental and his once so angelic voice now sounds hoarse and mature.

The Bony King of Nowhere is the pseudonym of Belgian singer-songwriter Bram Vanparys. He released his debut album 'Alas my love' to critical acclaim in 2009, which was followed by his second and most celebrated album 'Eleonore' in 2011. In the aftermath of 'Eleonore' he was asked to write the film score for the movie 'Les Géants', for which he was awarded by Les Magritte du Cinéma for best original soundtrack.

Two lost Disco classics appearing for the first time on a single 12” featuring soul legend Leon Ware and Jo Ann Harris, a little known backing singer for Bob Dylan throughout the 80s.

Both songs originally appeared on the ‘20 Minute Workout’ Video and LP released in 1983 by Canadian label Ronco, ‘What Does It Take’ providing an uptempo crescendo to the third part of the workout and ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ the final warm down track. Licensed from producer Ira Newborn, Hollywood soundtrack royalty who composed the scores for an incredible run of films including The Blues Brothers, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Naked Gun trilogy, Weird Science, Ace Ventura and Uncle Buck. Ira’s lawyer persuaded him to get involved in the project for Ronco and it was Ira who hand picked Leon Ware and Jo Ann Harris to add vocals to two tracks to aid the commercial potential of the album.

There are two original versions backed with extended instrumentals sourced from a rare Lazer Disc Version of the album. It feels right to shine a light on one of Leon Ware’s lesser known performances, whilst the Jo Ann Harris cut has a distinct Balearic air featuring sultry keys and sax at a tempo of 98 BPM.

„Take Me Back / Live from the Gorge“ ist ein bahnbrechendes Live-Album, das 2025 während des jährlichen Labor-Day-Wochenendes der Band im Gorge Amphitheater in Washington aufgenommen wurde. An diesem Wochenende spielte DMB zum ersten Mal das Album „Before These Crowded Streets“ in voller Länge live. 2003 erscheint auf dem Hamburger Label Hit Thing auf CD das Album KARNY SUTRA eines Duos namens Luther & Toby. Wer hinter Toby steckt, wird bald klar: Label-Co-Founder und Schlagzeugkünstler Larry Mullins. Man kennt ihn als Mitglied ikonischer Bands wie den Stooges, Swans oder Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Wer aber ist Luther, Nachname Hawkins? Erst jetzt wird eines der vielen Geheimnisse hinter KARNY SUTRA gelüftet: Hinter dem Pseudonym Luther Hawkins steckt James Hawkinson, als Kameramann in L.A. verantwortlich für die Bilderwelten von Serien wie "Hannibal" und "The Man In The High Castle", von Musikvideos wie "Naughty Girl" von Beyoncé, Missy Elliotts "Get Ur Freak On", "Aenema" von Tool oder "Windowlicker" von Aphex Twin. Mullins und Hawkinson verbindet seit vielen Jahren eine Freundschaft. In den 80er-Jahren spielten sie in L.A. gemeinsam in einer Band. Vielleicht hätte daraus etwas werden können, doch dann gehen die beiden andere Wege - um sich Anfang der Nullerjahre in Hawkinsons Haus in L.A. zu verabreden und dieses Album aufzunehmen. Mit dabei: der Produzent Mark Howard. Die Liste an Namen, für die dieser als Produzent oder Engineer gearbeitet hat, ist imposant: Bob Dylan und Neil Young, U2 und R.E.M., Tom Waits und Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris und Fiona Apple. Zusammen mit Daniel Lanois etabliert er ab Ende der 80er die Idee eines mobilen Studios: Howard hat einen Lkw-Führerschein, lädt das Equipment ins Fahrzeug und sucht für Aufnahmen zu speziellen Orten. Als Hawkinson ihn fragt, ob er sich vorstellen könnte, ein Album bei ihm zu Hause aufzunehmen, schaut sich Howard dort kurz um - und sagt sofort zu. "Kurze Zeit später sah ich ihn, wie er sich vor James" Haus an der oberirdischen Stromleitung zu schaffen machte", sagt Larry Mullins. "Für seine Aufnahmegeräte brauchte er mehr Leistung, und die besorgte er sich dort oben selbst." Nun, über 20 Jahre später erscheint das Album in einer 180 Gramm Doppel-Vinyl-Ausgabe mit aufwändigem Artwork in gewohnter Hit Thing Qualität.

Mit „That’s Just Me“ veröffentlicht Riley Green sein viertes Studioalbum. Entstanden während einer prä-
genden Zeit und seiner bislang größten Tour, zeigt sich Green darauf so persönlich und vielseitig wie nie
zuvor.
Der Song „Think As You Drunk“ würdigt die Country-Legende Toby Keith, unterstreicht Greens unverwechselbaren Sound sowie seinen bodenständigen Charme und erweitert das Album um ein weiteres Beispiel

Following their debut ‘One Last Summer’ with this incendiary, heart-pounding, drum-led masterwork full of untutored surf-guitar, Scarlet Rivera style fiddle, psychedelic orchestration and sharp-playful lyrics, all within just over 30 thrilling minutes.Since their debut, Paul Blewett and Nick Holton had been knee-deep in experimental music and needed something or someone to smash the shit out of the new songs. Instead of making heavier music, the result left lofty but wobbly structures teetering on fractured Giacometti-like frames, exposed, more arresting. Paring back the Musical palette from previous wash of synths and reverb to surf guitars, Moog, and violin, leaving Blewett's vocal (often compared to Colin Bunstone) leaning into an unvarnished, direct sound like Jimmy Campbell. 2000 and One’s noughties track ‘Tropical Melons’ lands on Rekids 31st July 2026, reissued with a new mix from the artist, Dylan Hermelijn, himself alongside fresh remixes from label debutant Bart Skils and Rekids regular Mark Broom. Originally released via Hermelijn’s 100% Pure in 2007 and championed by the likes of Sven Väth, ‘Tropical Melons’ remains a genre-blurring club cut that has lost none of its impact, now re-released and building on the reissue of 2000 and One’s ‘Wan Poku Moro’ on Rekids in 2024.

Opening the record, Bart Skils adds to the already heavily synth-laced original, sharpening its edges while preserving the lose-your-mind energy that made it such a standout. Mark Broom follows with his signature drum work: raw, muscular and driven by a jackin’ groove as the original’s dubbed-out melody washes over its rhythm. On the flip, Dylan Hermelijn revisits the track himself with a new 2026 mix, cleaned up and nudged forward with a subtle increase in pace, while keeping the irresistible pull of his original fully intact.

Robert Palmer's career has spanned over 25 years and encompassed any number of musical styles from jazz, r&b, reggae, pop, funk to the harder dance sounds heard on Some Like It Hot' as a member of the Power Station. Palmer's career commenced in the 60s and throughout the years received a number of awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance (for Addicted To Love') and a MTV Video Music Award.

The Collected double vinyl album from Robert Palmer is a selected overview of his music, some lesser known tracks are alternated with hits like Every Kinda People', Johnny And Mary', Pride', Addicted To Love' and many more. His collaboration with musicians from different backgrounds were successful leading up to recording (the Bob Dylan written) I'll Be Your Baby Tonight' with English reggae band UB40. This single became a worldwide hit, reaching the top 10 in Holland and United Kingdom, as well as achieving solid chart positions in the USA, Germany and France.

Sadly the musical genius and true superstar Robert Palmer passed away, succumbing to a heart attack in 2003, only 54 years old.

Vor zehn Jahren gründeten drei Mitarbeiter von JI's Market and Cafe die Band Styrofoam Winos. Lou Turner, Trevor Nikrant und Joe Kenkel fanden zueinander durch ihre gemeinsame Begeisterung für Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Leonard Cohen und Country-Platten aus dem Schnäppchenkorb. The percussive rhythms of “Divining Dance” awaken a new morning in "The Way of Our Flood” and walk towards the bowed grace of “Otherside of Mountainside." It seems fitting given their past, that the first vocals on a Noveller record would be delivered by the legendary Iggy Pop. Written specifically for The Godfather of Punk, a noir-ish tale of a man over-matched by a femme fatale, “The Girl Who Was Death” builds with tension and release. Following their collaboration on the title track to Iggy’s album Free, (also used in a global campaign for PETA) and their interpretation of Dylan Thomas’ “Do Not Go Gently Into The Night”, Iggy was eagerly awaiting the opportunity to add vocals to another Lipstate composition. A scene set as if on opposite ends of a corner booth at the Double R Diner in Twin Peaks, he delivers each line with the weight of a thousand lives lived. The result is a song so vivid that you can see it projected ten feet tall on the walls all around you.

Wenn wir beim vorletzten Track, ,Anniversary Song", angelangt sind, haben die geisterhaften Vocals und die Scratches des mikrotonalen Synthesizers die Grenzen zwischen Joyners Folk-Sänger-Herz und seinem Avantgarde-Geist verwischt. All das mündet in den 20-minütigen Titeltrack, der "Tough Love" abschließt - ein erschütternder Sturz in einen scheinbar bodenlosen Abgrund aus Reue, Überlebensschuld und unverblümter Trauer. Er leiht sich eine repetitive Struktur aus Lou Reeds erzählter Suite ,Street Hassle" und kombiniert sie mit dem seitenfüllenden Zeugnis von Dylans ,Sad-eyed Lady of the Lowlands", Joyner erzählt dazu aus der Perspektive seines verstorbenen Sohnes, der zu seinem Vater spricht, all seine Fehler darlegt und schonungslos hervorhebt, dass nichts davon rückgängig gemacht werden kann. Bald jedoch öffnet sich diese Qual zu etwas Transzendentem, sowohl in ihrer eleganten Bildsprache als auch in ihrer ätherischen Atmosphäre. Die letzten Momente des Albums gewähren die Erlaubnis zur Selbstvergebung und hoffentlich eines Tages auch zum Verständnis. Dieses kathartische Ende bringt all die verworrenen Gefühle, die sich durch "Tough Love" ziehen, auf den Punkt. So wie Joyner das Songwriting aus ungewöhnlichen Blickwinkeln angegangen ist, die sich jedes Mal ändern, wenn er zur Gitarre greift, um ein neues Album aufzunehmen, so verändert sich auch auf "Tough Love" seine Beziehung zu Trauer, den alltäglichen Kämpfen und dem ewigen Streben nach etwas Besserem.

Fika Recordings are pleased to present Bring On The Apathy, the third solo record from Scottish songwriter Adam Ross. Adam Ross is an indie-folk songwriter based in north-east Scotland. He is a solo artist and has also led the cult indie band Randolph's Leap for over a decade, releasing music with legendary Fence Records and Lost Map as well as Olive Grove Records and Fika Recordings. He is known for his unique brand of articulate lyricism which blends humour, poignancy, wordplay and offbeat stories.. “Bring On The Apathy” was recorded onto tape, using traditional analogue techniques at Glasgow’s Green Door Studio with Samuel J. Smith. It showcases some of the most emotionally open, lyrically deft and characterful songwriting so far from one of Scotland’s most accomplished writers. The vintage recording approach brings a warmth and intimacy to a record which is in equal parts raw and organic while also beautifully arranged and performed as Adam is joined by a raft of excellent collaborators. The album itself is a reaction. Whether it be in the title, the lyrical content or the method in which the sounds were captured. “I was feeling fairly down and uninspired about the musical landscape” Adam explains. “The risk with digital recording where every instrument is overdubbed separately is that it can end up sounding metronomic, sterile and lacking personality.

I also started to get a bit freaked out by the topic of AI-generated music and the insidious, creeping impact it’s already having. I therefore decided that, as a bit of a protest, I wanted to make something that sounded extra-specially human and hand-crafted, where you could hopefully hear the interplay between musicians.” For this reason, Adam decided to record the majority of the album live, as a band, playing together in the same room without a click track. “I’d put a band together to tour my last album, Littoral Zone, and I really enjoyed the way we all worked together. Green Door Studio was chosen as the destination as it specialises in analogue sound production but it had an extra significance for Adam. “Green Door was the first studio I ever recorded in, back in 2009. This time around, the “unforgiving” nature of tape recording became an inspiration. “The musicians on the record are such great players that they rarely make mistakes, so there was a confidence there that we wouldn’t need to rely on copious amounts of editing or post-production, which isn’t always possible with tape anyway. The core band consisted of Owen Curtis-Williams on drums, Cameron Maxwell on bass, Pedro Cameron on violin, Gillian Fleetwood on harp and (long-time collaborator with Randolph’s Leap) Pete MacDonald on piano. Mercury Prize-nominated artist C Duncan was drafted in to write and perform backing vocal arrangements along with Amanda Nizich and Gillian Fleetwood. Adam says “I’d been listening to a lot of Bob Dylan, Karen Dalton and Bill Callahan records and I thought it might be interesting to apply those sorts of influences to my brand of Scottish quirk-pop”.

"What if, alongside the mainstream history of music, with careers and discographies spanning ten or fifty years from album to album, there was an underground, minority history, that of artists and projects with only one record? A flash, a burst of brilliance, a gem, but no follow-up, no repetitions, no decline.
"This will most likely be the case for this album by Amarante-Cerisier, a duo formed by Mauricio Amarante (RadikalSatan, Équipage, travelling companion of Canan Domurcakli and Austin Townsend) and Marine Debilly Cerisier (dancer, performer, writer, co-founder of alternative cultural venues in Marseille and Brussels), with these eight poetic songs in French having more in common with the visionary essence of certain songs from the early 1970s (Brigitte Fontaine-Areski, for example) than with the post-modernism of the ‘nouvelle chanson française’ of the1990s and 2000s.
"But – and this is undoubtedly no coincidence – this is also the case for two unique albums, which had no immediate follow-ups but which, 50 and 20 years after their release, inspired Mauricio and Marine's album and discreetly found their way into it:
"At the very end of the 1960s, Tchékov Minosa (Marine's grandfather) embarked on a journey to the East with his partner Brigitte de Saint-Preux, during which they were married ten times, in ten different traditions (in Kurdistan, among the Kuchi people of northern Afghanistan, among the Kalash people of north-eastern Pakistan, in Rajasthan,etc.). This three-year journey was documented in numerous articles in the European press, in documentaries, in a book... and on a double LP of traditional music recordings released in 1973 by Le Chant du Monde. And sampled today by Mauricio Amarante at the end of the track ‘Parfois’.
"In the early 2000s, Austin Townsend, a tall, bony figure, washed up on the banks of the Garonne River near Bordeaux, arriving from New Zealand. With a voice that was sometimes very Bob Dylan-esque, at other times buried in the gravelly depths of the low frequencies, he strung together contemporary blues songs on his only album, Introvenus (Potagers natures, 2007), beautifully accompanied in subtle tones on banjo and double bass by Mauricio and Cesar Amarante (alias Radikal Satan). Beyond this unique record, Mauricio played extensively with Austin in concert. And when his friend died in the spring of 2024, he received his guitar, used the instrument for some of the tracks on the upcoming Okraïna record, and decided to dedicate the album to him.
"In our conception of music, fleeting appearances, unexpected reunions, and timeless records outside the dictates of current musical trends thrill us more than overly well-planned career paths."

ORDH's debut, "Blind In Abyssal Realms", sets out to redefine what the term 'progressive death metal' truly means. But before ORDH, there was BARISHI. When their bass player threw in the towel to pursue other interests in life, guitarist and vocalist Graham Brooks, "looking for a fresh start", decided the time had come to finally dwell in his favorite genre: death metal. But not just any kind of death metal_ Having drafted BARISHI drummer Dylan Blake, with whom Graham has been playing since he was twelve years old, and Josh Smith from KIEFCATCHER on bass, the trio then spent a few gruelling years working on their debut, with Graham writing most of the music and ironing the songs out with Dylan and Josh. Having toured with COME TO GRIEF when BARISHI was still around, Graham and the latter's singer Jonathan Hébert had hit it off really well, so when the time came to find a vocalist, Jonathan was called upon, "right on time to jump straight into the recording and writing process, as most of the music was ready to go".

“Duran Duran” aka “The Wedding Album” released in 1993 was a return to form for the band, charting in the top10 on both the UK and US album charts and spawning the world-wide hit’s ‘Ordinary World’ and ‘Come Undone’

Following in 1995, “Thank You” was an album of covers featuring songs written by Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, The Doors, Lou Reed and Elvis Costello. The album charted in the top20 of both UK and US charts.

Originally squeezed onto 1LP, both albums are highly sought after as neither have been re-pressed on vinyl since their original release. They are now spread across 140g 2LPs for the best sound. CDs will now be in paper sleeves as opposed to jewel cases.

“The Wedding Album” has a newly embossed sleeve and includes a 12” art card, and “Thank You” features a gatefold sleeve with a fold out poster replicating the original release.

His songs have been covered by hundreds of artists and he influenced the careers of such stars as Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones.
