Excursions in Gwoka vol. 2 is another adventurous outing for the Beauty & the Beat label that takes them ever deeper into the gwoka scene of Guadeloupe. it is the celebrated carnival outfit Akiyo who are in focus here with two tracks taken from second and supremely hard-to-find long player, Mouvman, in 1993. 'Deboule' is a real heater with bustling drum funk and chatting tribal vocals all run through with synth wizardry from Marie-Galante Jacques-Marie Basses. 'Blo' is just as steamy and intern with percussion, whistles and big beats all making quite the impact. Breakplus adds a London twist to 'Deboule' while CW adds a cosmic air to 'Blo.'

The annual Bonkers Music compilation returns, delivering another round of high-energy bangers. This year, the release explores a slightly evolved musical style while staying true to its signature sound. Celebrating its sixth edition, “Year VI” will be available on 12” vinyl, accompanied by a few exciting surprises.

A1. Neskeh’s “106 Cabrel” revolves around a melodic yet hypnotically repetitive lead sequence, crafted to evoke a trance-like state on the dance floor and radiate positive energy. The foundation of big, punchy kicks and a robust bassline gives it a quintessential club vibe.

A percussive break in the middle shifts the mood entirely, paying homage to Goa rhythms and shamanic rituals, immersing listeners in a more primal atmosphere. The drop reignites the momentum, enhanced by the warm tones of the beloved Minilogue, adding an almost epic dimension to the journey.

A2. Berlin’s Mike Sacchetti and Madrid’s David Meyer unite on “Agria Pachanga,” a dance energy piece that pulses with percussive drive and a subtle touch of Latin identity.

Acid-inspired arrangements swirl around classic drum machine sounds. The syncopated rhythms and pumping basslines push the track towards an agitated club atmosphere, building this song into a bold declaration of fiesta.

A3. Two friends from Guadalajara, Mexico, Leonor & Ludviq, now living in different European cities, (Barcelona & Lyon) join forces to bring you Capybara Trance, This electrifying track combines dark, driving energy with intricately sequenced melodies, a hard-hitting chugging bassline, and the unique touch of capybara-inspired sounds. Anchored by a commanding kick drum that sets an unrelenting tempo.

B1. “Nebula” is a deep, atmospheric journey through cosmic sounds and pulsating rhythms. The track blends hypnotic melodies with dark synthetic textures, evoking a sense of drifting through endless galaxies. With a strong groove and intricate arrangements, it delivers energy that fits perfectly in both morning sets and more conceptual playlists. The collaboration between Radial Gaze, Ducati Flux, and Persona RS captures the spirit of exploration, creating a versatile track that can be the highlight of any set

B2. Intruso hailing from Bogota, now based in Barcelona brings “Somos Acido” this track draws inspiration from the early 2000’s House and Trance, capturing the nostalgia and emotional resonance of his first experiences with electronic music as a child. A driving Acid bassline injects dynamic energy, making it perfectly suited for the dance floor.

B3. Argentinian born, Australia based producer Poulper teams up with Mexican maestro Hugo Vallejo to kick off this intergalactic adventure. This track weaves together acid-laced elements and an infectious rhythm, layered with haunting post-dark vocals that narrate the fiery, cosmic tale of love burning in the vast expanse of space. A bold and immersive journey into the unknown, perfect for this stellar compilation.

Masahiro Sugaya is a Japanese composer with a prolific career in music for film, television, and the performing arts. Renowned for crafting soundscapes that invite deep contemplation, his music blends synthesizers, field recordings, and traditional Japanese instruments, achieving a delicate balance between minimalism, ambient, and folk influences.

In addition to his experimental compositions, Sugaya has been a pivotal figure in Japanese television and cinema. He collaborated with NHK, Japan’s national broadcaster, creating soundtracks for documentaries and educational programs that explored both the everyday and the extraordinary. His ability to translate emotions and landscapes into sound has made him stand out in projects that connect the visual and the musical.

In cinema, Sugaya worked as an arranger for GONTITI, the iconic Japanese guitar duo, and contributed to soundtracks for renowned directors such as Hirokazu Koreeda. His work captures the stillness and subtleties of everyday life, resonating deeply with audiences.

The Pocket of Fever, originally conceived in 1987 as a soundtrack for Pappa Tarahumara’s avant-garde dance company, merges traditional Japanese elements with modern compositional techniques, reflecting the fluid and dreamlike choreography. The album shifts between nostalgia, as in Green of the Future, and the poetic hypnosis of Conversation with the Wind. These pieces invite the listener to explore deeply evocative and intimate sonic landscapes.

Now available for the first time on vinyl, this album was originally released solely on cassette and has been carefully remastered to preserve its delicate textures and vibrant sound. Presented in a limited edition, The Pocket of Fever remains essential for fans of ambient and experimental music. Inspired by figures such as Hiroshi Yoshimura, Midori Takada, and Brian Eno, this timeless masterpiece invites introspection and the appreciation of its serene beauty.

After the hugely successful 'Leave Your Life' & 'Strings Of Eden' EPs, Alex Kassian continues to defy convention and expectation with his return to Pinchy and Friends Recordings. The 'Body Singer' EP channels Alex's teenage dream of being in a band, taking inspiration from his love of 80’s movies, complete with Analog New Wave / Psyche / Kraut Rock influences. Its a trip down memory lane, or perhaps the soundtrack to something magical that hasn't happened yet. It's the audio behind that montage in that film you're watching, but the film is in fact, your own life.

Tartiflux is a versatile mini-LP that weaves together many of Margee’s musical influences—downtempo grooves, 90s disco beats, organic house, and acid breaks—into a unique, eclectic sound. Organic textures guide the overall tone, ensuring that the groove remains at the heart of every track.

On the A side, the title track “Tartiflux” takes listeners on a progressive, groovy, and downtempo journey with deep bass, sizzling pads, and distorted guitar sections. It features a remix by NYC legend Justin Strauss, who adds a punchy, rhythmic flair alongside additional productions by W. Andrew Raposo of Midnight Magic.

The B side presents a dynamic lineup, starting with “Help Myself,” a vocal disco-house anthem with an energetic rhythm, crisp drums, and punchy vocal chops. “Maanside” follows, offering a dreamy and melancholic experience with minimalistic grooves. The EP concludes with “Poomee,” the darkest track featuring breakbeats, deep synths, and an engaging sonic journey through acid patterns and robust basslines.

Our fourth album finally gets the vinyl pressing it so richly deserves.

Originally released in 2007, Rude Mechanicals found us firing on all cylinders. The nine years since our debut had been spent touring our cutting-edge audio-visual show round the world, playing everywhere from Tokyo to Tauranga, Portland to Paris, Leeds to Las Vegas, finding fans and absorbing new sounds along the way.

We successfully combined and refined the stand-out elements of our previous releases to create an album that is alternately danceable and meditative: a genre busting excursion in sound, heaving with warm basslines and complex rhythms, topped up by haunting melodies and immersive soundscapes.

From the evocative opening South of the Line to the stepping 1000 Mile Drift, the dub is strong, as one would expect, and so is the influence of drum’n’bass on the bottom-heavy Bird Soul and the atmospheric Please Leave Quietly; trance on the pulsating Sonic Colonic (Live at Minikami) and slinky Transient Transmission (fig.2); ambient on the burbling Harmonia and softly snarling Fragile Ladders. The title track, meanwhile, finds us addressing climate change and greed, with lyrics by Auckland MC KP.

To create the double-vinyl release, Angus McNaughton re-mastered the original audio files, while Hamish Macaulay polished the source artwork by Tom Quarelle and created a brand new collage for the centrefold using pictures taken at the time.

Rude Mechanicals will be released on 11th April 2025, except in Aotearoa New Zealand, where it will be released on 12th April 2025 as part of Record Store Day.

Back in 2017, Field Of Dreams remixed the deep house masterpiece, 'La Nuit Des Tropiques' by Les Crocodiles. It became a firm favourite with the late, great Andrew Weatherall and his partner Sean Johnston at the ALFOS parties.

With only a few DJ's given a copy of the demo, it gathered momentum and was set to be huge. Unfortunately, due to a couple of abortive attempts to get it pressed, it was never released.
The FoD boys have now licensed their own remix and can now put it out there for all to enjoy on their own label.
Add to that an amazing Pete Herbert chuggy remix of their 'Pourquoi?' single which, again, never saw the light of day until recently, on digital, and we have a pretty special 12 already.

Al & Chris decided that wasn't enough. They thought their much loved deep house track, 'In Our House', needed a bit more love so gave it a slight re-edit/re-eq and brought a banging new track, 'Protect Yourself' into the fold. The result is a rather special 12 inch record with four completely different but equally strong tracks.

No fillers here.

"Tales Of Mystery And Imagination Edgar Allan Poe" is re-issued in a variety of different formats including as a 180g Heavyweight half-speed remastered Clear Vinyl LP. The Alan Parsons Project debut studio album was originally released in June 1976. The lyrical and musical themes of the album are retellings of horror stories and poetry by Edgar Allan Poe. The album was a worldwide hit selling almost a million copies and achieving platinum status in a number of territories including Germany and Canada. Featuring a half speed remaster by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studio. Printed insert contains a sleevenote featuring quotes from Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson.

Das Label CAZ PLAK stammt aus Istanbul, und verbindet konzeptionell Jazz mit anderen Genres um neue, hybride Klänge für die 2020er zu finden, am besten in ihrer idealistischsten und künstlerischsten Form. Obwohl das Büyük Ev Ablukada-Album musikalisch von Caz Plaks üblichem Jazz-orientierten Katalog etwasabweicht, fügt es sich in Geist, Haltung und musikalisch nahtlos in die Vision des Labels ein.

Das erste Album, das während der Numa-Jahre veröffentlicht wurde, war Berserker, das den Wandel in
Numans Sound darstellte, als er sich einer härteren digitalen Ästhetik zuwandte, während er gleichzeitig
die analogen Texturen seiner früheren Arbeiten ehrte. Das Album zeigt nicht nur Numans kreatives Wachstum, sondern feiert auch seine Fähigkeit, Grenzen zu überschreiten und die Zuhörer auf eine fesselnde
musikalische Reise mitzunehmen. Auf dem Album verwebt Numan fiktive und persönliche Erzählungen
zu einem reichen Klangteppich, der auch nach 40 Jahren noch bei den Fans Anklang findet und für seine
eindringlichen Themen und Titel wie „My Dying Machine“, „This Is New Love“ und „Berserker“ gefeiert
wird.
Diese neue remasterte und erweiterte 2LP-Edition enthält das Originalalbum und ausgewählte Bonustracks,
während die Deluxe-4CD-Edition das Originalalbum zusammen mit Bonustracks, erweiterten Mixes von BSeiten und Numans Live-Album White Noise enthält, das während der Berserker-Tour aufgenommen wurde
und seine dynamische Performance zeigt. Die Wiederveröffentlichung von Berserker markiert den Beginn
der Retrospektive „The Numa Years“ und stellt nur den ersten Schritt einer umfassenderen Erforschung
dieser Ära dar.

Indie Rock-Alben der ausgehenden 80er/ beginnenden 90er Jahre veröffentlicht. Ein Paradebeispiel an
stilistischer Experimentierfreude, versponnener Erzählkunst und kreativer Eigensinnigkeit, mit dem das
Dortmunder Musikerkollektiv seinen Status als vehemente Antipopstars untermauerte. Im April erscheint
der Longplay-Meilenstein als remasterte und erweiterte Anniversary-Edition, die neben dem Original-Album
weitere Tonträger mit brandneuen Songs, einen bisher noch unveröffentlichten Konzertmitschnitt sowie
exklusive Raritäten, Bonustracks und Session-Outtakes enthält!
Mit der Re-Edition erscheint „Hair“ nun in remasterter und restaurierter Form. In aufwändiger Detailarbeit
wurden alle Stücke des Original-Albums von Boas langjährigem Wegbegleiter Eroc (der auch als Drummer auf „Hair“ vertreten ist) aufgefrischt und wiederhergestellt. Ergänzt wird die erweiterte Neuauflage
durch das exklusive Bonus-Album „The Honeymoon Files“, auf dem elf brandneue Tracks im Spirit von
„Hair“ enthalten sind. Die „Flitterwochen“-Songs entstanden zwischen 2023 und 2024 gemeinsam mit dem
bewährten Co-Producer David Vella in Phillip Boas Studio auf Malta.

We are excited to announce the release of the highly anticipated 7-inch single from the rising singer-songwriter Mei Watanabe, created in collaboration with Shinichi Osawa (MONDO GROSSO). This special release marks the debut of the track on vinyl, and it includes the previously unreleased Shinichi Osawa DJ edit on the B-side, making it a must-have for collectors and music lovers alike.

This new single, which reflects Mei Watanabe's exploration of questions about the uncertain world we live in today, was created through over six months of sessions between Watanabe and Osawa. Inspired by Osawa's artistry and music, the track features lyrics penned by Watanabe herself, showcasing her unique vision and voice.

Since its digital release last October, the song has been featured as a Power Play on FM NORTH WAVE and CROSS FM, among many others, and has been receiving significant airplay, generating excitement and buzz across the airwaves.

Formed by Sandra Coutinho (bass and vocals), Rosália Munhoz (vocals), Ana Machado (guitar), and Edgard Scandurra (drums), the group stood out for their rebellious attitude, incisive lyrics, and raw sound that blended punk, post-punk, and experimental elements. Mercenárias is an iconic band in the history of Brazilian punk and post-punk. They gained global recognition after being included in several compilations outside Brazil. Their debut album, "Cadê as Armas?" (1986), is considered one of the most important records in Brazilian music history. Three years earlier, they recorded their first demo tape at the studio of the funk/pop band Placa Luminosa. The recording turned out great, it's the best you can wait from a Brazilian punk record: raw, aggressive, yet catchy, well-played and produced. Recommended for fans of The Slits, DNA, Malaria!, Kleenex, and Minutemen, this early recording by Mercenárias is more punk than their albums, but still super catchy. It has been remastered from the original tape and includes an insert with previously unseen photos and a short text by Edgard Scandurra.

LP Reissue of this Self Titled Japanese CD Album. This LP is the first re-issue of their original CD-R only release in Japan in 1999 in a very limited edition (100 copies). It has been remastered in Berlin from orginal recordings and pressed to 300 copies with a gigantic sound !!! According to David Keenan (WIRE magazine) about this first CD-R released in 1999 the band are one of the most important underground reference in the actual Japan Psychedelic scene.

Placenta is the fourth collection of broadly imaginative and highly collaborative Carlos Niño & Friends music released on International Anthem since 2021. But perhaps more notably for the zeitgeist of today, it is the first new music to be released by Carlos Niño & Friends following the November 2023 release of André 3000’s New Blue Sun – an album which Carlos produced alongside André, while co-writing, performing, and co-mixing every song. The announcement of Placenta also comes while Carlos is in the middle of tours with André to support New Blue Sun, where Carlos wields an immense presence as music director, bandleader, and percussionist, and performs alongside many of the same musicians that are present on his recent & Friends albums, including this new one.

Placenta is announced on the 1st solar return of Moss Niño, of whom Carlos and his partner Annelise are Earth parents. Their experience of pregnancy, labor and delivery were all profoundly impactful for Carlos. Becoming a father again (a whole 25 years after the birth of Azul Niño, who has become a regular artistic collaborator for Carlos) he felt total Inspiration for this set of recordings, and hence it is perhaps the most conceptually-grounded Carlos Niño & Friends album we've yet to present–fully connected to the spirit of family, birth, and "how we get here."

In Niño’s words, Placenta is “dedicated to Mothers, Children, Babies, Aunties, Doulas, Midwives, Birthworkers...,” and a short list of track titles includes: "Love to all Doulas!," "Some Rest for the Midwives," "Real Vital Organs," and "Generous Pelvis." The centerpiece of the album, the sprawling "Placenta, Nourishment, New Home, The Galaxy," is an unbelievably vivid immersion in the sonic architecture of Niño's memory-scape...like being present in his energy field...or being present in a birthing room, or maybe even being born yourself. Es ist eine Reunion, die nicht so sehr von der Sehnsucht nach der Vergangenheit angetrieben wird, sondern vielmehr von der Dringlichkeit, das Beste aus dem Jetzt zu genießen. Vor sechs Jahren wurde Sänger und Songschreiber Louis Eliot während eines Spanienurlaubs für eine Notoperation ins Krankenhaus gebracht und ist dabei kurz dem Tode nah gewesen. Seine vollständige Genesung war eine Epiphanie. "Man könnte meinen, wenn man dem Tod sehr nahe ist, sollte man anfangen, sich um sich selbst zu kümmern", sagt er. ,Aber ich bin einfach mit Vollgas meiner Jugend hinterhergejagt. Ich dachte mir nur: Egal, vielleicht bin ich nächste Woche nicht mehr da, ich stürze mich einfach rein." Ein Teil von Eliots Wiedergeburt bestand darin, dass er eine langjährige Beziehung hinter sich ließ, um erneut in die Londoner Club-Szene einzutauchen. Ein bedeutender Teil davon waren die Romantik und die Verwundbarkeit, die er dort fand. Ein anderer Teil davon war die Erkenntnis, dass die Songs, die in dieser Zeit entstanden - Lieder über Liebe und Verlust, Hedonismus und Reue, die in wehmütigen Geisterstunden spielen - ein Ruf aus der (eigenen) Vergangenheit waren. Neon and Ghost Signs eröffnet in gewollt simpler und eingängiger Dancefloor-Ästhetik mit der ersten Single "No One Leaves This Discoteque Alive". Eliot, mit einem lasziven Brel-Knurren, vergießt Tränen in der Discotheque, ist "der Hund der Londoner Stadt", wo "die Laken mit Gold befleckt sind", der darauf aus ist, "seinen Kopf zu verlieren" und Liebe als perfekten Sturm zu erleben. Es ist der Auftakt zu einem "Durch die Nacht mit...", den das gesamte Album mit der von Rialto bekannten Widescreen-Pop Leidenschaft verfolgt. ESINAM & Sibusile Xaba is a meeting of nomadic, wandering and kindred spirits in music. Thanks to their Belgian-Ghanaian and South-African roots, they are unique in their being, strong in their union and connected on deep artistic and spiritual levels. The collaboration between ESINAM and Sibusile Xaba is bringing healing to body and soul.

In 2018 Esinam discovered Sibusile Xaba during his European (solo)tour. She was enchanted by his musical energy and craftsmanship and invited him as a vocal guest feature on the track 'Flowing River', from her debut album 'Shapes in Twilights of infinity'. When she was asked at the first edition of WOMAD Festival in South Africa if she wanted to collaborate with a 'local artist', she didn't have to think twice.

So in October 2022, Esinam and Sibusile seized this opportunity to dive into the rehearsal and recording studio, and discover and combine each other's musical universes to shape up new music together.

In May 2023 this collaboration continued with rehearsals, recordings and a first European tour with performances in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Germany and Slovenia.

In March 2024 they released the first single 'Africa Wola' out of the fothcoming album. In November 2024, they released a remix of their first single by South-African DJ and producer DaCapo and played at Visa for Music in Morocco.

Taba voices a subtle yet surprising shift for the Japanese musician and producer Satomimagae. Observing and absorbing the fleeting scenes and sounds of life flowing outside of her home studio, Taba unfolds as a series of vignettes that document the personal and the universal. Satomi sings beyond herself in an orbit of souls and systems known and unknown, seen and unseen, in the present and in the strange flux of memory, leaving linear songwriting to rest for circuitous stories expanded and expansive in tone and texture. Following the logic of taba, a Japanese term for a bunch, bundle or grouping together of different things, the album is assembled as a loose collection of short stories. Shapeshifting into something like a poet-narrator, Satomi casts her writer's eye to the often perplexing shapes that form from quotidian events and exchanges defining our increasingly alienated age. Where Satomi's last full-length, 2021's Hanazono, bloomed from the lush soil of a private inner sphere, the bird's eye of Taba searches to place the artist_somewhere, somehow_within a wider, wilder world. Collaborations with other artists and musicians close to Satomi's universe further elevate the album's sweeping sonics. Synthesizer lines from Norio, who also helps define the album's visual identity through photo and video, enliven the tender ballad "Kodama." The bell-like Rhodes piano ringing in and around Satomi's guitar on "Dottsu" is played by Akhira Sano, who created the cover art for her 2021 Colloid EP. Yuya Shito's clarinet was the missing puzzle piece that completed "Spells," and it was also Yuya who mixed Taba with an ear for its organic textures and elegantly frayed edges, giving utterance to a distinctly different energy than Satomi's earlier expressions. The tonal and rhythmic play that lay the foundation of these songs also animates a colorful palette of melodic gestures, noisy resonances and pointed moments captured by Satomi's close-at-hand recorder. While Taba is still carried by the innate intimacy that has defined Satomi's music to date, these songs channel her newly spacious and inquisitive songwriting approach, unlocking unusual layers in the process. Some are subsumed in the speculative poetics of sound design, while others peer through the window of bedroom pop. Gathering imagistic reflections, tracing vast ideations and quietly lingering in humble moments, Taba connects vivid lines between the individual and the collective, the constructed and the cosmic, the articulated and the felt. Satomi's sonic tales gain an eloquent coherence by the simple fact of existing in conversation, humming a harmony of parts that buzzes with the tangled circuitry of a life in motion. Taba is the fifth album from Japanese musician, songwriter and dream traveler Satomimagae, following her 2021 album Hanazono and the 2023 reissue of her debut album Awa, both for RVNG Intl. On Taba, Satomimagae leaves linear songwriting to rest for circuitous stories expanded and expansive in tone and texture, unfolding as a series of vignettes that document both the personal and the universal. Recorded in december 2005, this furious live album by what can easily be called a super group remained unreleased till in 2023 BILL LASWELL made it accessible in a rough-mixed digital version for his bandcamp subscribers program exclusively. PURPLE TRAP, the trio of LASWELL / HAINO / ALI, reunited for this one-off gig as part of a 5-day-HAINO-festival at John Zorn's venue "The Stone", seven years after its only album Decided ... Already The Motionless Heart Of Tranquility, Tangling The Prayer Called "I" had been recorded (released on Tzadik in 1999).
The six untitled tracks (+ one as digital bonus) deliver what can be expected from such musical masters:
RASHIED ALI, iconic free jazz drummer who played with JOHN and ALICE COLTRANE, PHAROAH SANDERS, SONNY ROLLINS, JAMES BLOOD ULMER and countless more, is all drums, from quiet tiny sounds to high-energy rhythm patterns.
KEIJI HAINO, one of the most prolific artists of the Japanese experimental / noise scene for almost 50 years now, switches between truculent guitar splatters and full-on psychedelic outbursts.
BILL LASWELL, who as producer and musician created a massive body of work in fiields as diverse as ambient, world music, funk, jazz (and often hybrids of these), has proven his mastery in improvisation in projects like MASSACRE, PAINKILLER or (early) MATERIAL and provides the low-end grounding with his signicature bass sound, or adds effect-laden ornaments to the whole.
An overdue addition to a very small body of work by a clearly under-documented supergroup!

A stellar collaboration between composer Michael Cashmore (Current 93) and vocalist Marc Almond of Soft Cell fame. Two complementary creative sensibilities in intimate interlock; supreme compositional and vocal talents fusing to make uniquely dramatic musical and vocal interpretations of searing beauty and insight. Specifically, this suite of songs feature the heightened lyricism of a stunning array of cult poets, both contemporary and of yesteryear. 'Feasting With Panthers' is a stellar collaboration between composer Michael Cashmore (Current 93) and vocalist Marc Almond of Soft Cell fame, in the nearest thematic echo and nod, in the latter's vast back catalogue, to the darker gothic influences of his celebrated Marc And The Mambas period and his acclaimed 'L'Absinthe' and 'Jacques' twisted chanson solo albums. This album's defining aesthetic is the setting of outsider poems to music. Poems by Count Eric Stenbock plus unique lyrical translations - by celebrated poet Jeremy Reed - of works by Jean Genet, Jean Cocteau, Arthur Rimbaud, Paul Verlaine, as well as Reed's own poetry. The emphasis throughout is on 'decadent' poems of thwarted love, ill-fated romance, self-destruction and death: many poems are woven with homo-eroticism, laced with opium dreamstates and all are accompanied by Michael Cashmore's haunting and melancholic music that lends the verses a deft yearning for beauty and a bittersweet, melancholic longing for lost innocence and youth. Originally released in 2011 and long since deleted, 'Feasting With Panthers' is now restored to back catalogue availability as a double vinyl album - it's first ever vinyl edition - with a variant of the original album artwork and two printed, full colour inner sleeves complete with lyrics and pictures and featuring four bonus tracks. The album was recorded over several years by the artists sending music files back and forth by e-mail and post; the artists never once recording together in the studio. Berlin based Michael Cashmore worked at home composing the music, playing all of the instruments and adding Marc's vocals from files recorded in London. The resulting album is a glorious union of sensual talents, both in voice and music, complementing the intriguing and evocative poetic texts. The project began after Current 93's David Tibet gave Marc a book of poems by the Baltic German poet Count Stanislaus Eric Stenbock. Marc was instantly attracted to the dark eroticism and the melancholic yearning of the verse and, so, contacted Michael Cashmore, whom he had previously worked with on Current 93's reading of 'Idumea'. He felt Michael would have the right understanding of the verse with his intricate, beautiful musical compositions. From this, the project developed to include many of Marc's favourite poems by some of his favourite 'outsider' poets with common thematic ground.

"Change Today? is the third studio album by the American rock band T.S.O.L. (True Sounds Of Liberty), released in 1984. It was the band's first album with singer/guitarist Joe Wood and drummer Mitch Dean, replacing founding members Jack Grisham and Todd Barnes who had left the band in late 1983.

The album was recorded using money loaned to T.S.O.L. by the Dead Kennedys, and found the new incarnation of the band moving away from the Hardcore Punk associations of the original lineup in favor of a traditional Rock and Gothic Rock sound. Over the course of four nights at Mad Dog Studio in Venice, California T.S.O.L. recorded their new songs with recording engineer Stuart Schanwetter and producer Chris Grayson. Vor sechs Jahren wurde Sänger und Songschreiber Louis Eliot während eines Spanienurlaubs für eine Notoperation ins Krankenhaus gebracht und ist dabei kurz dem Tode nah gewesen. Seine vollständige Genesung war eine Epiphanie. Compiled by Bob Stanley to document the acid folk scene, “Gather In The Mushrooms” was first issued in 2004 on Sanctuary as a CD-only release; it proved popular enough for a sequel entitled “Early Morning Hush” two years later.

This new edition of “Gather In The Mushrooms” contains the cream of both long-deleted compilations with a few additions – COB, Roy Harper, Fotheringay – that weren’t available to Sanctuary at the time. Though they aren’t traditional, these songs have an authenticity of their own, an autumnal atmosphere and a naivety which proved influential in the 00s neo-folk boom (Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom, Alasdair Roberts, Tuung et al) but impossible to replicate. For many of these acts at the end of the 60s, folk music and the hippy world that surrounded them was a way of life, a way of opting out from the Vietnam war, Angry Brigade and three-day-week early 70s. Anne Briggs lived in a caravan in Suffolk, Shelagh McDonald lived in a tent, Vashti Bunyan eschewed electricity; they weren’t part-timers. Listening to “Gather In The Mushrooms”, we are transported to a time when no one used the term post-modernist.

It may not have resonated with dyed-in-the wool political folkies, but over five decades later this music sounds very evocative of an England of yore – not necessarily one of poachers and pedlars, but one of long-haired youths in tie-dye T-shirts, bikers and hippies, acoustic guitars played in white stone cottages. Groups such as Stone Angel, Midwinter and Oberon made primitive, privately recorded folk albums; today they sound as distant and mystical as the field recordings of Alan Lomax. The sincerity and folk knowledge of a group like Forest becomes irrelevant once you hear something as eerie and evocative as ‘Graveyard’. Home-made, homely, warm as soup or chilling as a hoar frost, this is music of innocence and rare beauty.

The wonderfully favourable response to our first CD and double vinyl volume of the original A and B sides of the singles of the late great Isaac Hayes – as originally released on Stax’ Enterprise subsidiary between 1969 and 1972 – has forced us to bring forward, this month, the release of “Hot Buttered Singles 2” to cater for what Ace is sure will be just as great a level of popular demand.

This volume picks up where “Hot Buttered Singles Vol 1” left off with Hayes’ final 45 of 1972, and carries his seven inch story through to 1976 – by which time Stax was defunct, and Hayes’ was on his own Hot Buttered Soul label via ABC Records. It features eight US R&B chart hits including the much sampled ‘Hung Up On My Baby’ and ‘Chocolate Chip’, Hayes’ biggest hit of this period ‘Joy’ and the ever-popular 1976 instrumental ‘Disco Connection’, which finally gave Hayes’ his second UK Top 20 hit after ‘Shaft’.

All tracks match the original single edits, and wherever possible are taken from digital transfers of the original Enterprise singles masters. Where the original 45s came in two parts, they also do so here. And where original singles masters no longer exist, as was the case for two tracks, Ace’s engineers have re-created them beat for beat from the longer album versions. (Have fun guessing which two they were…)

Airy pads and a rousing yet subtle melody delicately introduce Libra, as Chronicle gradually builds towards a thrilling yet thoughtful amen workout set to blissful atmospherics. With a plethora of exquisite production techniques on show, the track showcases the versatility of Chronicle, offering something new to enjoy on each listen - the layers of detail are truly impressive.

B2 - Higher Limits

Echoing whirs and clicks dance playfully around light pads in the unique DJ-friendly intro to Higher Limits, a detailed, joyful track which celebrates a bygone era with sharp, expertly edited breaks and a smooth 808 bassline to die for. Micro melodies and long waves of delicious synths add texture and depth to the mix, resulting in the perfect closing track to a superbly varied and elegantly produced debut EP.

Rilo Kiley was born from hunger, from the insatiable desire to write one’s own story. The band’s origins can be traced back to Los Angeles in the late 1990s, when Jenny Lewis and Blake Sennett discovered a shared songwriting obsession and began performing together. After some starts and stops, a band was formed with Pierre “Duke” de Reeder playing bass. They called themselves Rilo Kiley, borrowing a name that came to Sennett in a dream.

For their second record, Rilo Kiley headed to Nebraska to record with Bright Eyes’ Mike Mogis alongside new drummer Jason Boesel. Here, Lewis truly becomes a generational songwriter, spinning interior mysteries regarding romance, depression, trauma, hope, and isolation into cathartic revelations. The highly sought-after 1970 debut album Catalyse by Ame Son, widely regarded as the first French psychedelic rock album, is finally being reissued. This milestone release by France's pioneering psychedelia band, founded by drummer/vocalist Marc Blanc and bassist Patrick Fontaine-both from the Banana Moon lineup, bridging Soft Machine & Gong-has been restored and remastered from the original master tapes. It includes additional archive material, presenting the Catalyse album in its entirety on vinyl for the first time. Originally released by the avant-garde label BYG Records, Catalyse embodies the vibrant and experimental energy of France's burgeoning underground scene in the early 70s. The album fuses English psychedelic influences with French poetry, free jazz, and experimental freak-outs. "The concept was to create pieces composed of multiple parts, forming an ever-evolving ensemble with shifting ambiences and improvisations. We wanted to blend French poetry with the free-spirited creativity of English psychedelic rock" explained Marc Blanc in an exclusive interview featured in the new liner notes of this reissue. This unique vision gave birth to an album that remains as groundbreaking and captivating today as it was at its original release. Meet Me in the Garden is a richly textured exploration of love, loss, and renewal. Co-produced by Felix Bloxsom (SIA, Genesis Owusu), Daniel Mougerman (The Bamboos), and Rita Satch herself, and mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Ben Kane (D’Angelo, Emily King), the album features contributions from some of Naarm/Melbourne’s finest, alongside a sweeping 12-piece string orchestra.

"Salsa con charanga" is really a feast for all salsa music lovers, a true jewel, which deserved much better when it originally came out in 1978. In addition to being a great salsa album, has the distinction that was released on Orfeon, a Mexican record label, due to the diligent work of the extraordinary producer Bobby Marin, and which miraculously received air play when powerhouse Fania label and few others ruled radio in the salsa music world. It comprises eight great, solid tracks; some, new interpretations from other albums in which Mike Guagenti participated with his handsome and captivating voice - a crooner with a salsero soul -, that, at times, could remind us of the late Tito Rodríguez, and even Ray Ramos. "The Mike Guagenti album," as indicated by Marin, "is a compilation of recordings by other artists. Originally a salsa album, I brought in Cuban Pupi Legarreta (violin and flute) and [Panamanian] Mauricio Smith (flute) to give it a charanga sound." With the exception of the cut 'Salsa con charanga,' which is an instrumental, the rest feature vocals by Guagenti. "Salsa con charanga" has developed a cult following, and finding a copy of the original could be quite expensive. Luckily, this officially licensed and restored edition will fill that void.

This 45 comprises two killer pop dancers with plenty of psych fuzz guitars, punchy horns and funky beats: the in-demand Christie Laume's mod anthem 'Rouge-Rouge' and Marta Kubisova's 'Tak Dej Se K Nám A Projdem Sv?t' a glorious LP-only song that has never available on a 45 before. Sister-in-law of Edith Piaf (who introduced her to the music business), Christie Laume became a ye-ye style singer in '60s France. Her mod anthem 'Rouge, Rouge' (1967) is a great song that never fails in making the dance floor shake, taken from a very rare and in-demand E.P. On the flipside we can find Marta Kubisová, one of the most popular singers in the Czech Republic in the '60s. Her 'Tak Dej Se K Nám A Projdem Sv?t' is a glorious LP-only song from 1969 that has never available on a 45 before. Expect heavy basslines, punchy horns and fuzzy guitars. Both songs are officially reissued here on a 45 for the first time.

The Rough Trade Singles collects The Fall's four singles recorded for this influential label in 1980 and 1983 – How I Wrote 'Elastic Man' / City Hobgoblins, Totally Wired / Putta Block, The Man Whose Head Expanded / Ludd Gang and Kicker Conspiracy – none of which appeared on any of the band's studio LPs. With 7-inches being the era's vehicle for buzzing communiqués, The Fall would use the format for short-form, standalone works rather than as mere promotional devices for forthcoming albums.

"Totally Wired" is often cited (and rightfully so) as The Fall's most infectious tune – an amphetamine-fueled anthem with stuttering nods to forebears, yet too incisive to have been made by anyone else. "How I Wrote 'Elastic Man'" is another mad hoedown, one reimagined for the post-punk age. While the playful rhythm machine on "The Man Whose Head Expanded" almost suggests danceability, Mark E. Smith's idiosyncratic shriek on "Kicker Conspiracy" pierces through the twin drumming of Paul Hanley and Karl Burns and the group's unpredictable / unmistakable racket. Together these songs remain some of the absolute best material The Fall would ever release.

Belgian label Music Man Records presents Boccaccio Life 1987-1993, a new compilation offering a fresh perspective on the legacy of the iconic Belgian club Boccaccio - often associated with the short-lived New Beat movement. The 40-track compilation highlights the raw and futuristic early house and techno sounds that were heard in the pioneering club.

Located in rural Destelbergen (Belgium), just a stone's throw from Ghent, Boccaccio has secured its place among legendary venues like Paradise Garage in New York and The Hacçinda in Manchester. Its bold fusion of emerging electronic genres such as New Beat, Acid, House, and Techno was way ahead of its time, drawing music lovers and clubbers from across Belgium and beyond. Sundays at Boccaccio were unlike anywhere else-offering sounds you couldn't hear anywhere else.

Boccaccio Life 1987-1993 is carefully curated by resident DJ Olivier Pieters and club regular Stefaan Vandenberghe, standing as the ultimate testament to a club that was more than just a venue. For those who experienced it, it was a community - a way of life. Hence the club's full name: Boccaccio Life.

With tracks from Blake Baxter, Virgo, Frankie Knuckles, Tyree, and A Guy Called Gerald, the unmistakable influence of black American pioneers is clear-the originators of the firstanalog house and techno sounds. On the other hand, UK sound innovators such as The Orb and LFO bring both sharp textures and rough breakbeats to the table.

Club staple tracks include dreamy excursions from Roger Sanchez under his Egotrip moniker, the relentless basement house of Circus Bells by Robert Armani on Dance Mania, an uplifting take on a hip-house cut from The D.O.C. (Portrait of A Masterpiece in the CJ Ed-Did-It Mix), a timeless remix of UK Formation's Age of Chance from 1994, and an alternate take on The Tape by Boccaccio club regular and Belgian producer Frank De Wulf, taken from his B-Sides project.

While not always the obvious hits, these tracks have gracefully withstood the test of time, and were exclusive to Sundays at Boccaccio. Now, they are finally available to experience together in one collection, offering a timeless snapshot of a unique era.

In addition to being members of Miles Davis' band, John Coltrane, Red Garland and Paul Chambers recorded several projects together without the trumpeter. Soultrane is a superb quartet album featuring the three musicians along with drummer Art Taylor (he and Chambers were both members of the Red Garland Trio). The LP was recorded in between the two Miles Davis Sextet sessions that produced the album Milestones. Among the highlights are a lengthy reading of Tadd Dameron's "Good Bait", and Trane's earliest and probably best version ever of Billy Eckstine's ballad "I Want to Talk About You", which would become a favorite inthe saxophonist's live repertoire.

Kali Malone's The Sacrificial Code is the 2019 breakthrough album of the acclaimed composer's pipe organ pieces.
