Das schwedische Punkrock-Urgestein SATOR veröffentlicht mit den High (Rock'n) Rollern und Punkrockern THE HEADLINES eine Split EP: Eine längst fällige Herzens- und Freundschaftsangelegenheit! Schließlich war es Sator-Bandgründer Chips Kiesbye, der vor mehr als 15 Jahren das musikalische Potential und die wilde, ungestüme Power von The Headlines erkannte. Es folgten Supportshows und bis heute produziert und supportet Chips die Band im Studio. Die jeweils zwei exklusiven Songs der Bands auf der limitierten 10inch Vinyl spannen dabei den Bogen von Hard Rock, Sleaze, Glam bis straight forward Punkrock. The Headlines kehren mit "Fucked up" zu der klassischen Rock-Essence zurück, rotzig-frech verpackt in 2 Minuten mit allem was es braucht, um eine "fuckin great hymn" zu schreiben! "True Grit" - der zweite Song" orientiert sich mit melodischen Punkrock an den US-Westcoast Style: "Remember what you're fighting for!" The Headlines liebten es schon immer Gedanken über das Leben, die jeder kennt in griffige Rocksongs zu verpacken. SATOR präsentieren mit "Thanks (For nothing for all) einen vor langer Zeit geschriebenen wütenden Dampfhammer, der als Demo in den Bandarchiven irgendwie in Vergessenheit geriet. Während der Aufnahmen zu "Return of The Barbie-Q-Killers" stoplerte die Band über dieses Juwel und wurde neu aufgenommen. "Wir können uns nicht wirklich erinnern, worüber wir beim Schreiben wütend waren, aber es gibt immer etwas, das einen nervt. Wut ist nie aus der Mode." "I only want a date" wurde ebenfalls im Rahmen der Studio-Sessions für das letzte Sator-Album aufgenommen und ist ein Coversong der US-Band "The Embarrassment", die den gesuchten Song 1984 nur auf Tape veröffentlichten. Die 10inch EP erscheint streng limitiert in klassisch schwarzen oder blauen oder in limitierten zweifarbigen Swirl Vinyl und dürfte sich schnell als Sammlerstück etablieren. Bristol via NYC's DJ Nature makes house and beatdown so raw, dusty and dishevelled it feels like it's been put together in an old shed with rudimentary hand tools and might just collapse at any moment. But it is also brilliantly soulful and real, with synths infusing each loose arrangement with real heat and the drum patterns connecting deeply. Across four cuts here, he layers up those signature low ends with different motifs - funkier drums and watery melodies on 'Shattering Myths,', r&b vocal swirls on 'One' and unusual synth incantations on 'Medusa Weed', while 'Eternal Winter' is a subtle celebration with gentle charm. Another superb EP from a unique producer.

Chris Stussy ‘A Glimmer Of Hope’ EP in now being re-issued due to demand on LTD edition transparent red vinyl.

Amsterdam based producer and DJ Chris Stussy has become one of the most eminent figures in the contemporary house scene of the Netherlands and across the globe over the past 10 years, racking up releases on the likes of Eastenderz, Moscow, PIV, Contstant Sound and most recently his own Up The Stuss imprint.

Leading the release is ‘Central Frenzy’, laid out across six and a half minutes with skippy percussion, a snaking bass groove, intricate synth sequences and sweeping vocal chants. ‘Riva De Biasio’ follows and tips the focus over to airy atmospherics a jazz-tinged bass groove and squelchy acid licks atop swinging drums.

‘Deviant Shadow’ opens the flip-side and merges an amalgamation of expansive dub chords and bouncy sub bass tones with a robust 4/4 rhythm. Lastly to round things out is title-cut ‘A Glimmer Of Hope’, wrapping up the release on a deeper tip courtesy of ethereal pad swells, metallic synth licks and shuffled drums.

DJ Popinjay balances fresh cuts with beloved favourites on his new one for the irrepressible Blur. The title track opens with silky keys and mellow percussion that capture the warmth of golden hour, while 'Whyalla' brings breezy pads and crisp beats to organic percussive. Reissued highlights like opener 'Take U' have filtered soul magic, and 'Not Too Shabby' brings dusty funk and jazzy cool, while 'So Much Fun' bursts with disco-fueled joy. The closer, 'Soul Searching' has swinging, Chic-style grooves and layers up endlessly playable house vibes.

John Devecchi is The Owl and is well known to disco and funk heads for several great EPs and his superb Concrete Funk album from 2021. This one opens with 'I Can't Stop', which is a playful number with a deep funk vocal and big horns. 'Bad Bad Feelin' has a country feel with guitar picking and harmonica that infused the low slung beats, and last of all is a deep cut sound that is enriched with jazzy horns and lively funk vocals a la Parliament and Fatback band. All three of these will bring colour and charm to grown-up dance floors.

‘The second volume of Elementa Obscura moves with even greater force toward the dancefloor : six tracks straddling the lines between industrial, electro, and wave. From FIUME’s cold, pounding opener to Memorex’s spacious analog explorations, Nyxloid’s metallic EBM visions, and Ole Mic Odd’s razor-edged electro workout, the compilation spans the full spectrum of the underground. Spanish newcomer Thai Lady Boy brings chaos with a fractured industrial techno cut, while RNXRX closes with a ritualistic music excursion.

You can't fault the quality of the slabs of heavy house that Dungeon Meat puts out. The label headed up by Brawther and Tristan da Cunha is back with more wagyu-quality rhythms, this time from the Berlin-based Tripmastaz. He's a master of crafting the sort of muscular beats that get floors in a sweat and whether solo or next to heavyweights like Ricardo Villalobos and DJ Sneak. Here he shows his dubbed out signature sound with the swinging, garage-inflected 'Off Da Waxxx', raw New York thud of 'Double Trouple', percussive skip of 'NYC x LFO' and rough and ready 'Tres Cabezas'. Tasty stuff, as always.

Aiming all glitter cannons firmly at CHRISTMAS #1 (vinyl singles chart - let's be real), art punk royalty Art Brut and electro pop gems bis deliver genuine glitter dancefloor filling power with a cover of Paula Abdul's Opposites Attract, twang liberally at heartstrings with a take of Make Your Own Kind of Music by Cass Elliot - finally covering each other's seminal bangers with an icy fresh take that can only come from years of genuine love of the band you're reimaging.

Following the completion of the Pulse EP series, Peverelist invites four producers to present their own refreshing takes on choice cuts from his most recent phase of club exploration.

Fadi Mohem channels the bright angles of 'Pulse IX' into a buoyant, sleek run of uptempo dub techno with an unmistakable Berlin focus. Huey Mnemonic takes the crafty, curious swerve of 'Pulse XX' and sets it to a 4/4 rush of exuberant, steady-climbing techno informed by his Detroit surroundings. Munich-based artist Polygonia's snaking electronica response to 'Pulse VII' capitalises on the swooning melody of the original's second half and matches it with vibrant sound design. Rounding off an especially invigorating round of remixes, the stark jack of 'Pulse V' becomes a twinkling, dreamy Motor City reverie in the hands of the legendary Optic Nerve, aka Keith Tucker.

The end result is a collection of remixes bursting with the same vibrant, uplifting energy that courses throughout the Pulse series.

Livity Sound is a label set up by Peverelist in 2011 as a vehicle for a raw and exploratory strain of UK techno, rooted in the heritage of UK dance music and sound system culture. It has since become one of the UK's foremost protagonists for cutting edge underground electronic music.
