PRESTIGE waren kaum aus dem Teenageralter heraus, sich aber bereits der Probleme in der Gesellschaft und der Welt um sie herum bewusst, als sie 1987 begannen, Musik zu machen. Oft wählte die Band eine humoristische Herangehensweise an die Songtexte, aber wenn man tiefer gräbt, ist darin immer eine Botschaft versteckt. Ein Song wie "This World" zum Beispiel ist heute so aktuell wie vor 35 Jahren.
Ihre Musik war schnell und aggressiv, und PRESTIGE war die dritte Thrash-Band, die in Finnland ein komplettes Album veröffentlichte. In den Jahren 1988 und 1989 kam es zu einem echten Durchbruch des Thrash Metal in Finnland, und PRESTIGE waren mittendrin, spielten im ganzen Land und landeten in den Charts.
Das damalige Label engagierte den damals angesagtesten und teuersten Produzenten, Herrn TT Oksala, um die Aufnahmen und die Produktion des Albums zu übernehmen. Die Aufnahmen zum Album dauerten sieben Tage. Abgemischt wurde das Album in den legendären Finnvox Studios in Helsinki.

The 21st Attack The Dancefloor is brimming with Class-A disco boogie action.

Heading things up is the brand new Jimpster remix of Mistura featuring a tongue in cheek monologue from Canadian poet Jemini. Jimpster’s Jazz'd Up mix starts off stripped right back, based around a 303 bassline, it builds and builds and builds ending with a deep powerful version that satisfies both the soul and dance floor.

Backing this side up is Birdee’s euphoric, piano stomping, hands in the air remix of the ZR classic ‘Do What You Feel’ from 1991.

On the flip is Lakeshore Commission's latest floor burner ‘In 2 The Light’ featuring Bluey from Incognito. Shuffling Philly drums, soaring strings and a phunked out bass guitar make for a late night dancefloor heater.

Finishing off the 12” is the appearance of Destiny II’s ‘Play 2 Win’ on wax for the first time. It’s a serious menagerie of driving live bass, Prelude style boogie synths & the occasional vocoder. Add in anthemic vocals courtesy of Angela Johnson and you have one of the years most played new disco songs.

Back from a hot summer we are presenting you this great new release by Steve Mill who truly captures the sun and warmth in these new jams for us. The Greek born artist who lives between Berlin and Thessaloniki just released his “The Mistake EP” on Tensnake’s own True Romance label where we could already hear his soulful and groovey disco infused sound.

The opener “Love Attack” is a real “good times” tune with catchy vocal snips and a bad ass funky arpeggio bass line topped with spaced out strings and pads, this one reminds us a lot of Krystal Klear material and our own Lorenz Rhode. Saying that, we of course could not think of anyone better than him to take on this tune and drawing the inspiration to create his own super funked up version! As always all parts are played and recorded live in his Cologne studio with the same hot summer vibes on this one as well! You can find the vox version on vinyl and an instrumental as bonus digital track to get your party really started. On repeat!

“Make Me Feel” featuring the Berlin based vocalist Tee Amara has disco flavors all over it and is just an irresistible house tune, majestic and soulful. Followed by the slow and developing “Next to You” that’s steadily building towards a crescendo “heaven” gem, much in the tradition of disco edits from back in the 80’s. It reminded us a lot of our old Ben La Desh records we put out some good 10 years ago. Maybe this one is our personal fave, for sure a tune you could drop on any floor: disco, electro or house.

Heart Attack is a four-piece army and an unpredictable groovy blend of modern thrash metal, consisting of Kevin Geyer (rhythm guitars, vocals), Chriss Cesari (lead guitars, keyboards), Will Ribeiro (bass guitar, vocals), and Christophe Icard (drums). The band played prestigious Hellfest, shared the stage with Trivium and Opeth, or opened for Megadeth in Lyon. Heart Attack is for Gojira, Machine Head, and early Metallica fans searching for the definite riff that will help them drive for a long ride under the sun. A question popular among followers of Thrash Metal is undeniably this, “Which is considered the fastest Thrash Metal album of all time?”. There would be a high percentage of answers supporting “Reign In Blood”, Darkness Descends” or “Pleasure To Kill”. Now here’s a startling reality. Wehrmacht’s debut album makes those albums sound as if they were meant to be listed under progressive Metal. The sheer ferocity of these guys is enough to convince you why they were considered the fastest Heavy Metal band in the underground. So what is it that makes this record worthy of being called an underground classic? Right from production to musicianship, the concoction of several different ideas results into one colossal and inevitably unique style of their own. Many of you would probably wonder that there might just be a natural leaning towards sloppy playing especially considering my description of their astoundingly fast nature earlier. But the major surprise here is that all the musicians are extremely tight and precise with no single riff, solo or beat falling out of place. Tito Matos is one of the most versatile Thrash singers one has ever heard till date. His clarity of words and ability to keep up with the rest of the band with his lightning fast singing is simply commendable. The songs in here are all ridiculously speedy pieces of Thrash Metal with practically little or no remorse for the listener. The title track with that brilliant rendition of the famously eerie “Jaws” theme kicks off the onslaught with a tearing main riff that shreds away with speed and precision. Teutonic, Bay Area and a few east coast Thrash Metal bands have been instrumental in forging the whole genre altogether but taking the intensity a couple of notches higher was undoubtedly achieved by bands like Cryptic Slaughter, Soothsayer and finally Wehrmacht. For a year that was 1987, “Shark Attack” was way ahead of its time and has been highly regarded as the release that influenced many a band in the Grindcore and Black Metal genres. To testify this statement of mine, U.K Grindcore pioneers Napalm Death have covered Wehrmacht on one of their studio compilations, thus proving the exemplary effect this band had in the years to come. Yet the irony still stands out as to why only the most devoted of Thrash Metal/Crossover freaks know about this band. As for some of you guys, quit wasting your time listening to the senseless offshoots of Grindcore and shitty Black Metal and get a hold of this classic instead.

Volume 20 of Attack the Dancefloor kicks off with what we think will be a future classic – ‘Atlantia’ by Level 42’s Mike Lindup. A stunning mid-tempo boogie cut with great spacey production, excellent lyrics and an extended mix by Dave Lee.

Next up is Lazywax’s synth heavy, 80s soul style rework of the forthcoming Raw Essence ‘Do it Again’, the original being featured on Produced With Love 2.

Flip it over for Dave’s much played take of Jungle’s crossover hit ‘Keep Moving’, which gives the song an authentic bassline driven disco mix. Last up Chicago’s Emmaculate delivers a live instrumentation filled afro disco version of Doug Willis feat Zeke Manyika ‘Dougswana’.

Alan Dixon launches his brand new label 'Love Attack' with a release from fellow North Eastern Man Power. The 'Multi Periodic Oscillations EP' is three tracks from Man Power at his curious techno best. Deep, dark and dubby, suitable for all of your 3am needs. Opener 'Cepheid Variable Part 1' is 11 minutes of twists and turns, revolving around a hypnotic groove. It's baby brother Part 2 keeps the vibes in tact with 'Applegate Mechanism' closing the EP in a straight up dancefloor fashion. The Wailing Souls are major contributors of classic roots reggae hits in the VP/Greensleeves catalogue, and now they're back with the new single "Shark Attack." European reggae star Alborosie is featured on this re-make of the 1992 hit. The 7 inch/ digital singles are the lead off for the Wailing Souls upcoming album "Back A Yard," their first recoding in Jamaica since the late 1980s, their first album on the Greensleeves album since that era and their first project produced by label-mate Alborosie.
