For all overthinkers and introverts. On their debut album "Smalltalk & DMCs", the Berlin indie-pop trio Varley finds strength in vulnerability. The result: an album like a good friend.

The indie-pop trio Varley is Dublin-born Claire-Ann and German band mates Joschka Bender and Matthias Heising. Initially influenced by Bon Iver, and citing the likes of Fleetwood Mac, The Cardigans and Phoebe Bridgers as other notable touchstones, what lies at the core of Varley’s affective, heart-on-sleeve music is its willingness to be vulnerable. Their music is an honest and raw outlet, and the cathartic nature of their songwriting is one to be championed.

Eliza’s vocal oozes a sardonic disquiet that immerses the listener into her fury culminating in an almost evangelical middle 8. Harry Wolfman has been a staple member of the Dirt Crew family since his debut collaboration with Loz Goddard in 2016. We’ve since seen considerable growth with EPs on Phonica’s “Karakul”, “Omena” and “Outplay” all lending a hand to the development of his signature sound into its now established lo-fi style, delving into a range of genres... ethereal ambience, electro and left-field rhythms, and of course deep, often break beat laden house grooves.
This new EP is no exception, Harry drops some irresistible dance tunes with “Walk With Me” and the banging title track “Sly Contrast” but also explores the boundaries of his palette with the vocal interludes “A21z” and the majestic “Courage” featuring the voice of “Mona Vale”, dipping a toe into the floaty world of lo-fi pop.
We also find ambient and Jazz elements cleverly combined in “Fhloston Paradise”. And the closing drum break joint “Wokit Shep” loops live drums, strings, piano and brass elements, twirling towards a majestic finale reminiscing dusty jazzy Trip Hop and instrumental Hip Hop pieces.
This record offers hope for better times... we are really glad to have Harry back with these strong tunes and can’t wait to hear these out again on a juicy sound system. Enjoy!

Dino Lenny's Fine Human Records introduces the electronic talent of Black Mami with two dark and hypnotic driving cuts. Title track 'Industria Con Vista' leads the release with its enticing and cinematic retro-meets-future mood. A theme that continues on 'Tokyo Express', which plays out like the soundtrack of an imaginary meeting between Black Mami heroes, Trevor Horn & Yello. His most recurrent of dreams.

FH10 marks Onirik's debut EP on his very own Finest Hour imprint. The A side, with Kaleidophon' and Vivid', carries the slightly darker and trippier sound recently embodied on his solo label, Garage Hermétique. On the flip, a more traditional stripped down deep house affair, an 11 minutes groover for the early hours, aligning perfectly with the label's aesthetics.

Arcarsenal is back on Finest Hour with a four tracker ranging from dub techno to junglish atmospherical beats through house and breakbeat. This Ep showcases their constant evolution in sound while simultaneously keeping a mature sound and a strong identity.

After last year's well recieved album 'The Phoenix', King Britt returns under his Fhloston Paradigm moniker for the first in a series of 'Cosmosis' EPs. 'Cosmosis Vol 1' is three spacey perfumed hardware workouts of the kind that Fhloston Paradigm built his name on. The EP starts with 'Sonic Six', matching bumping drum machine rhythms with gurgling bleeps, and mournful strings building the emotion through the noise.The second track is the slowly evolving ambience of 'Faith', which builds up into radiant, shimmering clouds of sound before a bass line drops midway, grounding the track melodically and switching the emotion from ecstatic to bittersweet. The EP closes with 'Past', where broken sounds are dragged over a warping piano line, and a flickering static melody engulfs the track as the noise dies out.
