Originally released in 1996, Come's third album 'Near Life Experience' was the sound of a band heading into new territory, refining their dense mix of hypnotic noise-rock, blues and rock'n'roll song-writing. Lovingly remastered, this new version features three incredible bonus tracks 'Prize', 'Strike', 'Hurricane II' stemming from the same era, additional liner notes and photographs. After Come's seminal 1994 release 'Don't Ask Don't Tell', bassist Sean O'Brien and drummer Arthur Johnson left the band to pursue other careers. Remaining members Chris Brokaw and Thalia Zedek recorded Near Life Experience with two different rhythm sections: one half of the album was recorded with drummer Mac McNeilly of the Jesus Lizard and Bundy K. Brown of Tortoise and Gastr Del Sol, the other half recorded with Kevin Coultas and Tara Jane O'Neil of Rodan and The Sonora Pine. Other contributors to the album included Edward Yazijian from Kustomized and Jeff Goddard from Karate, both rock bands hailing from Boston, MA. The title of the album resulted from "a slip of the tongue, as Zedek states, she "was telling someone she had had a 'near life experience,' but meant to say near death experience. Chris [Brokaw] was cracking up at the imagery of that. Thus, the phrase was chosen as the album's title. "Near-Life Experience is heavier, and at the same time prettier, than Come has ever sounded." CMJ New Music Monthly. "Come is a re-energized, even more powerful band than they used to be, and Near Life Experience is their most concise and affecting release yet." All Music. Zedek and Brokaw might have compensated the loss of band members by recruiting new blood but the reward was huge, 'Near Life Experience' is Come's most cinematic, diverse and accessible album.

The 1975 album "That's The Way Of the World" was also the soundtrack for a 1975 motion picture of the same name which featured some of the band members of Earth, Wind, & Fire in cameo roles. The album includes the ballad "Reasons" alongside the #1 US pop and R&B hit single "Shining Star" as well as the title track which reached #12 on the pop chart.

Now in its 14th year, the unique and constantly evolving Fire! Orchestra is back with their largest line-up so far, counting an international cast of no less than 43 members that includes mainstay singer Mariam Wallentin as well as newcomers David Sandström and Joe McPhee, both on vocals, McPhee also on tenor sax. The popular and widely praised Arrival is a highlight in both our and the band's catalogue, but this epic triple album ups the ante. While following in the great tradition of ensembles led by the likes of Carla Bley, George Russell and Keith Tippett, Echoes is firmly placed in 2022 and takes in elements of rock, jazz, folk, electronic, classical and contemporary music. Starting out with the working title Big Bang, the near two-hour piece had its concert premiere at Stockholm Jazz Festival in October to rapturous applause from a full house, with major national newspaper Dagens Nyheter calling it a feast for eyes and ears in their ecstatic review. The core elements of Echoes are the seven self-titled parts, each mostly over 10 minutes in duration, interspersed with shorter pieces where we find a string quartet, an "African" stretch and generally music of an exploratory and experimental nature. Considering the size of the orchestra and the somewhat intimidating working title, this is a very open, breathing, organic, detailed and dynamic recording with a lot of space. As previously, a defining base element in the music is the repetitive and hypnotic grooves from the main rhythm section of bassist Johan Berthling and drummer Andreas Werliin. Needless to say, the hand-picked musicians are all on a very high level and on top of their game, conducted by Mats Gustafsson but given free reign when it's called for. And Jim O'Rourke was given free reign when it came to the selections and the mix and is a big part in how the final album turned out. The album closes with a vigorous tribute from Joe McPhee to one of the late, great masters, McPhee being a pretty decent finger wiggler himself, to say the least. Echoes was mostly written by Fire! founders Mats Gustafsson, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin and recorded at the legendary Atlantis studio in Stockholm in March last year.It was mixed by Jim O'Rourke in Japan in the course of two autumn months. The mastering and vinyl cut was done by loop-o mastering in Berlin, making for a fantastic sounding album, especially the vinyl edition is a real treat.

Mercy Of The Crane Folk’ is the beautifully accomplished second album from Athens GA’s Immaterial Possession. A theatrical soundscape littered with subconscious flashbacks, retro keyboard flurries, wandering Morricone-esque guitar and dreamy Sumac-like harmonies. Featuring the ethereal eerie dream pop of former artist commune residents Cooper Holmes and Madeline Polites, with drummer John Spiegel and Elephant 6 descendant Kiran Fernandes (keyboards, clarinets, flutes). Additional contributions come from drummer Jon Vogt who can be heard on ‘Mercy Of The Crane Folk’ and ‘Birth Of Queen Croaker’. It’s a haunting and immersive trip into the inner psyche of these nomadic soothsayers; a psychedelic dance party from a half-lit underground world; breathlessly eerie and all consuming; a salubrious sojourn that sounds like nothing else. Originally released as a digital single only available through Jungle Fire's Bandcamp page in the summer of 2020, their version of the Ray Barretto Latin Funk classic "Together" was put out in support of Black Lives Matter and acknowledgment that African culture has been the backbone, soul and spirit of societal fabric since the dawn of humanity. A song whose message and spirit always united and ignited the audience, it was a much-needed offering to fans at a time of escalated urgency in the sociopolitical climate. Often performing "Together" during their live shows as an instrumental interlude, it was only right to do the song justice by inviting long-time collaborator and frequent F-Spot featured singer Jamie Allensworth to join on lead vocals. Performing as a guest with the band numerous times and being a part of So-Cal's funk and soul community ranging from Orgone, Night Owls, and Mestizo Beat, Allensworth delivers a high-energy performance that keeps up with Jungle Fire's signature sound of blazing percussion, heavy beats, and fuzzed out guitars. “Dancing Around Fire” is the new album by LA-based drummer and composer Tommaso Cappellato in partnership with Pavimento Fertile, the Italian break dance collective founded by Paolo “Frigo” Montesi. Inspired by the energy of dance and improvisation, this album serves up a dynamic fusion of experimental soul and timeless grooves that command the body to move. This unique collaboration between dancer and musician was born out of Cappellato’s live performance at the Pavimento Fertile dance jam in 2021.

Seeing how Cappellato’s rhythms brought out new layers in the dancers’ movements inspired Montesi to commission an album of original music that celebrates the culture of drum breaks and sampling which fuel freestyle dance. The album’s seven tracks, composed by Cappellato in as many days, take the listener straight to the dance floor.

Cappellato weaves the soulful vocals of Lalin St. Juste (on “Made of Golden Light”) and Cameron Kinghorn (on “Heart to Mend”) alongside percussive electronic tracks (like “Battle Moves”) that emphasize the importance of the drum in unleashing the power of human expression.

The New York-based heavy metal band Riot released their third studio album Fire Down Under in 1981, which instantly became their most popular effort and is considered by many to be an early ‘80’s classic. It was the last album to feature the vocalist Guy Speranza.
The album features Riot’s most recognizable and popular tune “Swords
& Tequila” as opening track. Other standouts include the fast-paced title
track “Fire Down Under”, “Outlaw,” and “Don’t Bring Me Down.”
Fire Down Under is available as a limited edition of 750 individually
numbered copies on translucent red coloured vinyl.

Perc returns to Perc Trax for his first original release of 2020 and his first full EP since 'Three Tracks To Send To Your Ghost Producer' was released back in March 2019. 'Fire In Negative' includes three tracks adapted from his live set at Reaktor's Unpolished event in Amsterdam earlier of this year, plus another completed directly after that set when the atmosphere and energy of that event was still fresh in his mind.

Title track and opener 'Fire In Negative' fuses crushing kicks with covert art gallery recordings and the crackling flames of the title, topped off with Ventolin-esque sine tones. Another statement track from Perc, sidestepping the current trend for rave revivalism whilst matching its energy toe to toe.

'E Mono' is a classic Perc drum track, skipping big builds for an unexpected switch in the middle section, whilst 'Snare' goes in the opposite direction, breaking down into two minutes of abrasive feedback before finally kicking back in.

Als LACRIMOSA 1994 ihr bahnbrechendes "Schakal"
veröffentlichten, waren sie die erste Szene-Band, die
Gothic und Metal kombinierten, und dies in eine
klassische Orchestrierung einbetteten! Von der
Metal-Presse als zu düster und von der Gothic-Presse als
zu hart verrissen, fand sich der Band zunächst auf
einsamen Posten. Zwei Jahre später waren LACRIMOSA
Headliner der Dark Winter Nights Festivals, der ersten
Festival-Tour, die Gothic- und Metal-Bands wie THE

Das Album „Fire On Marzz / Stella & Steve“ beinhaltet sowohl Benees im Juni 2019 veröffentlichte Debüt EP „Fire On Marzz“ mit den Hits „Glitter“ und „Soaked“, als auch die im November 2019 erschienene EP „Stella & Steve“.

Über ihren aktuellen Hit „Supalonely“ ft. Gus Dapperton, der ebenfalls auf dem Album zu hören ist, sagt die 20-jährige Neuseeländerin, dass es ein super selbstironischer Song ist, bei dem sie sich einfach über ihre Traurigkeit lustig macht.

Benee, die mit eigentlichem Namen Stella Rose Bennett heißt, gewann bereits vier New Zealand Music Awards. Sie nahm die Auszeichnungen für Best Single („Soaked“), Best Solo Artist, Best Pop Artist und Breaktrough Artist mit nach Hause. Über die Inspiration hinter dem Titel für „Stella & Steve“ sagt Benee "Ich bin Stella, und mein Auto heißt Steve".

AMBER ARCADES ist das Pseudonym von Annelotte de Graaf, der niederländischen Singer/Songwriterin, die zwei EPs und einige von der Kritik gefeierte Alben aufgenommen hat, von denen das zweite, "European Heartbreak", durch "hints of Lindi Ortega and early Saint Etienne, breezy, dreamy pop more personal than political" (The Guardian) glänzt. AMBER ARCADES verlor kürzlich für einen Moment den Glauben an die Musik, gewann ihn dann aber wieder zurück und liefert nun ihr bisher atemberaubendstes Album ab: "Barefoot On Diamond Road", das am 10. Die erste Single "Just Like Me" ist ein offenkundig tanzbarer und triumphaler Song, der durch seine Stop/Start-Struktur eine beunruhigende und unvorhersehbare Schärfe in das Geschehen bringt. This record is completely the opposite" erklärt die Niederländerin in einem Statement zum neuen Album. In the late '70s Wild Fire was one of the more popular groups in Trinidad. Formed by Oliver “Stompy” Chapman back in 1962 the group was originally named the Sparks. By the disco era Wild Fire were the house band at night clubs like Disco Tracks and the Upper Level. The group was very influenced by disco, especially the famous British group, Hot Chocolate known for the classic disco hit ”You Sexy Thing.” Hot Chocolate’s chief songwriter, Tony Wilson was originally a Trinidadian native and also great friends with Oliver Chapman. The opening track on this compilation is "Try Making Love", a floor-filling track written by Tony Wilson in 1977 and recorded at Coral Sound Studio in Port of Spain. It was there that Oliver Chapman laid down the unforgettable bass line, solidifying its status as a surefire hit. The infectious tune held steady at the number one slot for six weeks in Trinidad and eventually climbed to the top of the charts in Barbados. Recorded at KH Studios, “Living On A String” with its unique disco synth sound by keyboard player Calvin Duncan was about the hard living of one trying to survive as a musician and hoping to one day partake in the material strappings of fame. “The Rebels” was more about the political struggle for the young in the country at the time. There was a lot of corruption in the government and a lot of young people out of work. The song called to stand up and rebel against the regime. And years later in 1990 it did happen when the Muslim group Jamaat al Muslimeen stormed the Red House (Trinidad’s Parliament House) and took cabinet members hostage. Wild Fire would go on to tour the Caribbean extensively including stops in Barbados, Antigua, St. Thomas and Guadeloupe. The group had a massive local hit with their track “Say A Little Prayer.” The group would disband in 1985 and Oliver Chapman would move to America. Wild Fire - Dance Hits is a collection of Wild Fire's more dance friendly material.

• Co-writer Charles Spurling sang and wrote at King in the late 60s, providing songs for James Brown, Hank Ballard, Junior McCants and Peggy & Artie among others. ‘Ball Of Fire’ is an exceptional song, first recorded by Connie Austin as a smouldering mid-tempo number on which she pours her heart out. It would be updated a year later by Marva Whitney who took it at a faster funkier pace. Charles Spurling remembers Connie as a good-looking, fast-living girl who was murdered in Los Angeles soon after.

• Spurling was a good singer himself and had five King releases between 1967 and 1969. The excellent ‘You’ve Got Love On Top Of Love’ failed to make it to wax until now. Kent found the tape in the King vaults and issued it on CD in 2001; now it is on a righteous single.

Chaos & Colour, the energetic and triumphant 25th studio album from British hard rock legends and progenators Uriah Heep, bristles with explosive classic rock guitars, supreme harmonies, and Heep’s famously generous keyboard foundation.

Produced at Chapel Studios by Jay Ruston, and engineered by Pieter Rietkirk, Chaos & Colour is a superb album of quality hard rock from the pioneers of the genre who continue to create top class material. Old fans will be reinvigorated whilst new fans will surely find Chaos & Colour an exceptional discovery.

The debut album from post-folk travellers Immaterial Possession, a quartet, half of whom came from an artist commune and half who were card-carrying Elephant6 alumni. ‘Immaterial Possession’ is a rich tapestry of a record, a gorgeous, melodious return to a time when influences co-habited freely and whatever was close at hand made the music of the day. All set to Syd Barrett-era Floyd and Nico with haunting lines, it’s perfectly tinged with gamelan harmonies, evocative Spanish guitars and xylophone. Exuding mystical symbolism; they wear luscious threads, they’re part of something/anything; perhaps a neo-modern-folk commune of artists in search of a canvas to stretch out over their juxtaposed influences. Immaterial Possession was conceived by Atlanta natives, Cooper Holmes and Madeline Polites, who met while living together at an Atlanta artist commune that was integrated into the DIY music, theatre, and arts scene. Some years later the duo moved to the neighbouring musical town of Athens, GA. They were soon joined by seasoned drummer, John Spiegel, and eventually fulfilled with multi-instrumentalist Kiran Fernandes (keyboards, clarinets, flutes) - descendant of the Elephant 6 Collective scene. It’s eastern, it’s eerie dream pop, it’s spacious and ethereal… A perfectly wild trip, and where it ends is immaterial.

Zeke Sky is an American guitarist, pianist, vocalist and composer who has made continuous impact since videos of his playing and songs emerged on the internet in 2018. Combining influences of psychedelic rock, progressive metal, heavy metal and world music, Zeke goes against the grain in writing and performing bold and visionary songs without limitation, dealing with complex lyric issues ranging from toxic love to kingly conquests.

In the same year, Zeke played his first live event opening for KING'S X as part of a home recorded album effort. Despite the total infancy of his name, an impressive number of copies were sold of this obscure album on the web. Zeke followed up with a pair of singles in 2019 and 2020 with updated production ethics and of course more aggressive playing, and those saw favorable reviews all over the world, including in Rolling Stone Magazine (“ZEKE SKY is an incendiary of heavy metal.”).

A Cocktail D'Amore resident - Trent - also a busy producer and mixing engineer based in Berlin, brings us some of his latest creations fresh from the studio. Heavy on the percussive side, the A-side distills a collage of disco samples overlayed with tripped out synth effects and bass lines under trance inducing vocals. At just under 130BPM Trent takes the foundations of dancefloor music and re-constructs a highly effective DJ tool that will set the tone for new things to happen on any dancefloor. On the B-side “Equinox” at 110BPM brings things down a notch with a darker tripped out chugger that might serve as a mild DMT trip soundtrack or a Monday morning session in the Cosmic Hole. Originally released in 1965 and unavailable on vinyl since 1967, Frost and
Fire, A Calendar Of Ritual and Magical Songs,was the debut album from
the then new group on the folk scene
Originally from Hull, two sisters, Norma and Elaine (or 'Lal'), their brother, Mike
and cousin, John Harrison, had been singing family songs all their lives and as a
new folk group had been attracting attention for their powerful and exciting
performances. They were taken into the studio by Bill Leader to record an album
for Topic Records and what came out of the sessions was incredible. Frost and
Fire was essentially a concept album, the songs following the passage of the
year. It's effect was seismic, standing the folk scene on it's head and influencing
not just folkies but the ever growing and eclectic rock scene as well, particularly
Traffic whose magnificent "John Barleycorn Must Die" came directly from Frost
and Fire.

Josephine Foster's peculiar 2000 home recorded debut There Are Eyes Above is an essential introduction to her music that’s unfolded now for over two decades. So the story goes, so legend has it, a mere 30 years into their career, almost ten years ago, Giant Sand were regrouped and, for a fleeting second, someone made sense of it all (the words, the genre swapping sound, the roll call of friends and accomplices, the majesty of polar opposites attracting). On ‘Heartbreak Pass’ the result from this lengthy travelogue is a memoir filled with trinkets exchanged along the way. Throughout the last decade, Strange Ranger have been crafting seamless
indie music that feels both already classic and precisely of its time

OLD FIRE - das Projekt des in Abilene, Texas, ansässigen Komponisten und Produzenten John Mark Lapham - kündigt sein zweites Album "Voids" für den Herbst an. Für das Album, das größtenteils aus Kollaborationen besteht, hat Lapham eine beeindruckende Liste von Sängern und Sängerinnen rekrutiert. Neben Gastauftritten von Julia Holter, Adam Torres und Emily Cross ist auch die lebende Songwriter-Legende Bill Callahan auf drei Songs zu hören. Einer davon ist die ergreifende, düstere Lead-Single "Don't You Go ft. Bill Callahan". Es handelt sich hierbei um eine Coverversion des britischen Singer/Songwriters John Martyn, bei der auch Thomas Bartlett alias Doveman am Klavier, Semay Wu am Cello und Robin Allender an den Tasten/Gitarren zu hören sind. Ein wunderbares Stück, über das Stereogum treffend schreibt: "If you've ever wondered what Bill Callahan singing a Radiohead dirge might sound like, it would probably sound a lot like this."
