'Five Finger Discount' encapsulates Mila's uncompromising aesthetic: warm, powerful, energetic, and constantly teetering on the brink of disintegration. Morphing, overdriven stabs build energy atop a sub-heavy groove and a sea of pads. A sweeping break fractures the track into shuddering bursts of corroded machinery, before the compact groove returns with punishing dancefloor power.

Camea transforms 'Five Finger Discount' into a heavy-weight techno roller. Shuddering, pitch-shifting bass hits and salvos, sizzling white noise sweeps, and an ominous mantra morph the track into a darkly efficient peak- time banger.


Hardt Antoine builds his rendition of 'Deadline Disco' around an infectiously body-moving arpeggio. Layers of distortion add a searing edge, transforming the original into a stripped powerhouse with Dark Disco undercurrents.

Since 2006, Pierce The Veil have unassumingly yet consistently climbed their way into the hearts of millions worldwide via an unshakable devotion to making honest and hypnotic hard rock. The San Diego band — Vic Fuentes (vocals, guitar), Tony Perry (guitar), and Jaime Preciado (bass) — released A Flair for the Dramatic 2007 and Selfish Machines 2010, the latter of which camped out at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. The fourth installment of MdCL’s Midnight Snacks series features remixes of snacks from vol 1 & 2, reimagined by Foursixone (Germany), Sound of Fractures (UK), Laroye (France) and Coflo (USA) – instrumental dancefloor pressure for the broken beat and soulful house heads. Curated by the Mashibeats community – community-sourced remixes and community-A&R’d – the EP kicks off with Foursixone’s broken beat reimagining of ‘Crush Velvet’: file alongside BITA and 2000Black. Sound of Fractures blends jungle bass-line pressure with a 2-step bounce on ‘Blue Hour’. On the flipside we dive into house with Laroye’s alternate mix of ‘Crush Velvet’ – a future nu-jazz house classic, and wrap up with the gospel organs and deep 4/4 grooves courtesy frequent Osunlade collaborator, Coflo.

Audio visual sculptor Kero operates the multidisciplinary arts collective Detroit Underground record label and continues to produce bit crushed experimental electronic music with over two decades under his belt.

Demo Vectors showcases Kero's sonic range—bouncing back and forth between IDM fractures, broken electro shapes and an all around low-end forcefield. Splicing machined modular tunes with syncopated rhythms and Detroit-inspired slivers, Kero's fingerprints can be found on imprints like Blueprint, Wild oats, Ghostly International, Shitkatapult, Semantica, Touchin' Bass, BPitch Control, and many others.

Using different studio setups from 1998 to 2021, Demo Vectors culminated from many different locations including Detroit, Windsor, Barcelona, Berlin and Los Angeles and reveals Kero's curriculum vitae packaged in a 60 minute robust collection.

The downtempo groove of "ABSTR_B&B" offers a classic bricolage of collapsed mechanical percussion straight from the foundry as the definitive sound design and glitchy bits of "BLISS" take shape. Fluid robotics and bass jabs progress on "GROUNDZEROBACK" pushing each pixel to their breaking point. You'll also find stark industrial elements on tracks like "PREFREAK.EPS" and spastic acid on "COMOFFICE-1" displaying the wide angle lens Kero employs to capture improvised dark drill'n bass techniques with a Squarepusher sheen. From the slow burning "PILL'LATHE2" humming its way across laid back digitized acrobatics to the aptly titled "COLOR_CUB" that clicks, cuts and collects subtle low frequency modulations, Demo Vectors is a tightly compacted and forward thinking IDM album.

Sandblasted electronics mixed with shattered glass and corrosive blips'n bleeps, Demo Vectors acts as Kero's raison d'etre as each piece eclipses itself.

Brownswood are delighted to share this hotly anticipated “unofficial” follow up to We Out Here and Sunny Side Up which respectively showcased music from London and Melbourne. This time we turn our attention to the vital scene in South Africa, one of many effervescent movements erupting around the world . Specially created recordings featuring some of most exciting post rock, avant garde and improvised music emerging from Johannesburg’s scene - the album was curated and produced by Thandi Ntuli and The Brother Moves On band leader Siyabonga Mthembu, and includes turns from such luminaries as Bokani Dyer and Sibusile Xaba. It's an album as sonically diverse as the South African nation itself.

Recorded over a week in June 2020 with South Africa just emerging from Lockdown and in the shadow of the global BLM movement - questions about lineage, community and spirit thread through the tracks – not just communities of descent or language, but the communities being built now through collective creation. The persistent fractures in South African society that were deliberately engineered by apartheid, results of an attempt to impose unitary, racially-constructed identities on all. All the tracks in this collection challenge that: they demonstrate the unifying power of collective music work.

The act of gathering to record in a time of isolation becomes one of anchoring and care, creating an energy field and capturing a living culture of making music. It is one in which bands exist to birth musical concepts as opposed to being static monoliths. Indaba Is propels a collective of musicians to the precipice of a new frontier. South Africa’s incredible jazz heritage becomes the departure point, as opposed to a tether.
