Utter presents 'The Ritual EP' by Frank Rodas.

Frank Rodas is the elusive creator of 2019's 'The Sellout EP' (Optimo Music) and one of the brains behind the excellent 'Out The Flat' label. While his previous release deftly dipped into Electro, Industrial and EBM sonics, 'The Ritual EP' sees the versatile producer travel in another direction, taking the listener on an ethereal, acid-tinged Tribal voyage.

The visuals also complement the EP's cohesive deeper sound. Decadence comics co-founder Lando's immersive artwork draws us further into this imagined far-future world, with a vast flooded landscape dominating the front cover, any remnant of civilisation succumbing to nature. A large 50x70cm panoramic poster is included with every copy of the record.

More about the world has changed than not in the decade since dance production dyad Frank & Tony released their last full-length record, 2014’s You Go Girl. Despite, or perhaps in spite of, this shifting landscape, house music has managed to stay fundamentally reliable (either a bug or its greatest feature, depending on who you ask). Where previously, Frank & Tony have been celebrated for their contemplative, studious approach to the genre, with 2024’s Ethos, the Brooklyn/Biarritz-based duo return amidst metastatic cultural upheaval to prove out those scholarly credentials — with an album that serves to remind listeners why dancefloors and liberatory politics consistently share the language of movements and revolutions.
Undoubtedly, Ethos is tremendously influenced by the multitude of projects originating from, and supported by, the duo and their label in the decade since You Go Girl– releasing records from a vast diversity of artists (including Nadia Khan, Gry, Villete, Darand Land, Alex Albrecht, DJ Sprinkles and CCL), and Harris becoming curatorial voice of Brooklyn’s premiere venue for audiophiles, Public Records, where he continues to amplify work across a global diaspora (and where the duo maintain a residency of wide praise).

It is this bright energy and focus on the necessity of community and relationships that animates the aptly-titled Ethos. If past Frank & Tony releases have been lauded as ‘a coloring book in which someone has exclusively drawn inside the lines… with extreme precision,’ Ethos deviates by inviting friends in for a game of exquisite corpse. From singer and pianist Eliana Glass, whose androgynous, double-reeded voice freestyles across album opener Olympia, to distinct track features from fellow house masterminds DaRand Land, DJ Aakmael and Lawrence over half of the album’s nine tracks highlight artists in the larger Scissor & Thread circle.

'Mystery' is 16 tracks of rare early recordings from the legendary folk singer Jackson C Frank, known for his brief but influential career in the 1960s. On this release we delve deeper into singer-songwriter skills. His debut album, "Jackson C. Frank," is considered a folk classic. It featured songs like "Blues Run the Game" and "Milk and Honey," which have been covered by numerous artists over the years including Simon and Garfunkel, Wizz Jones and Bert Jansch.

Production duo Dj Dogg and Furious Frank are back with the third edition of their on-going series… this time in full remix treatment!

While keeping in line with their signature underground raw house style, volume three explores some new sounds for the series, including vocals cuts, euphoric early trance melodies, big bass and more.

The second solo album by Frank Zappa, Hot Rats (October 1969) is one of the most influential Jazz fusion albums ever. It marked Zappa's first recording project after the dissolution of the original version of The Mothers of Invention. Multi-instrumentalist Ian Underwood is the only member of the Mothers to appear on the album and was the primary musical collaborator.

Other featured musicians include bassists Max Bennett and Shuggie Otis; drummers John Guerin, Paul Humphrey and Ron Selico; and electric violinists Don "Sugarcane" Harris and Jean-Luc Ponty. The first Frank Zappa album recorded on 16-track equipment, Hot Rats was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, and was given a rating of 4½ stars in Al/Music, with Steve Huey stating that "few albums originating on the rock side of jazz-rock fusion flowed so freely between both sides of the equation, or achieved such unwavering excitement and energy". The model on the cover is Miss Christine, from the group GTO's.

Erste Vinyl-Neuauflage des selbstbetitelten Debütalbums von Frank Black and the Catholics aus dem Jahr 1998, gemastert von den Originalbändern von Phil Kinrade in den AIR Studios. Die Songs voller roher Garage-Punk-Energie waren ursprünglich direkt auf Zweispurband aufgenommen, und eigentlich als Demoserie gedacht. Doch dann entschied Frank Black, dass die Aufnahmen nicht zu verbessern waren, und veröffentlichte sie so wie sie eingespielt wurden. Inklusive der Fan-Favoriten 'All My Ghosts', 'I GottaMove' und 'Dog Gone'. Der Album-Klassiker erscheint als 180Gr.-LP als Half-Speed-Master inkl. 5-seitigem Booklet und Obi-Strip.

'True Blue' ist eine Sammlung von Songs, die ursprünglich als technische Demos für das gefeierte 'Black Letter Days'-Album der Catholics gedacht waren. Die Aufnahmen wurden 2001 live auf 1-Spur-Kassette in den legendären Sound City Studios aufgenommen und fangen rohe und fesselnde Sounds von Frank Black und den Catholics bei Songs wie 'California Bound', 'The End Of Miles' und 'Cold Heart Of Stone''. Bisher nur als Bonus-CD im Boxset 'The Complete Recordings' erhältlich, ist 'True Blue' eine unverzichtbarer Release für Frank Black-Fans und bietet einen Einblick in eine Studio-Session mit den Catholics. Gepresst auf 140Gr. Vinyl, neu remastert von Phil Kinrade und geschnitten von Cicely Balston bei AIR Mastering. Präsentiert in einer strukturierten LP-Hülle mit neuem Artwork von Mark Reynolds sowie exklusiven Liner Notes von Produzent Ben Mumphrey. Ebenfalls enthalten ist eine Bonus-7inch-Single mit drei Outtakes, darunter eine bisher unveröffentlichte Version von 'The Black Rider'.

■ "As", das Doppelalbum von Frank Boeijen aus dem Jahr 2006, ist eine Platte, auf der viel Raum für
verschiedene musikalische Ausflüge geboten wird. Das Album enthält Klavierballaden, kräftigen
Rock, aber auch orchestrierte Begleitung durch das City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Auf
diesem Doppelalbum gibt es auch viel Platz für interessante Gastkünstler wie Stef Bos ("Steppewolf",
"Bernadette"), Daniël Lohues ("De Nachten") und Henk Hofstede von Nits ("En We Lopen"). Darüber
hinaus ist auch die alte Frank Boeijen Groep für dieses Album wieder zusammengekommen. "As" ist
zum ersten Mal auf Vinyl erhältlich und enthält ein 4-seitiges Booklet mit den Songtexten.

■ "Schaduw Van De Liefde" ist eines der reflektierendsten Alben von Frank Boeijen, inspiriert von der
Liebe und dem Land Frankreich. Das Album wurde begeistert aufgenommen, und im Jahr 2004 erhielt
Frank Boeijen den Radio 2 Zendtijdprijs. Das Album enthält die Single "Kaap De Goede Hoop", die es
in die niederländische Single Top 100 geschafft hat. "Schaduw Van De Liefde" ist First TIme auf Vinyl
erhältlich und enthält ein Beiblatt mit den Songtexten

Der absolute Frank Zappa Klassiker ”Over-Nite Sensation” wird 50. Für manche ist es der Einstieg in die
Zappa-Welt, zusammen mit dem folgenden Album Apostrophe von 1974. Es war auch das erste ZappaAlbum, das im Quadraphonic Surround Sound veröffentlicht wurde. Mit diesem Album änderte sich die
musikalische Ausrichtung von ”The Mothers”, denn Frank übernahm den Großteil des Gesangs und war
der einzige Gitarrist. Es war eine neue Band, ein neuer Sound und schließlich wurde das Album mit Gold
ausgezeichnet. Im Laufe der Jahre wurde fast jeder Song von ”Over-Nite Sensation” zu einem Live-Hit
und zu einem Fan-Favoriten. Auch 50 Jahre später ist das Album immer noch eines der Highlights im
Zappa-Katalog und ein Dauerbrenner.
Neben der 4CD+Blu-ray-Box gibt es auch eine Vinyl Edition: eine 2LP 180 Gramm schwarzes audiophiles Vinyl. Die Vinyl-Edition wurden von Chris Bellman bei Bernie Grundman Mastering im Jahr 2023
mit 45rpm vom analogen Originalband geschnitten. Die Vinyl-Edition enthält als Bonus ein 24”x12” Poster
mit dem kompletten Cover

■ "Camera" ist ein Album, auf dem Frank Boeijen nach dem beeindruckenden Album "As" zurück zu
den Grundlagen geht. Es ist eine Bandplatte, die sich auf Pop-Songs konzentriert. Aufgenommen
wurde es im ICP-Studio in Brüssel, wo Boeijen zuvor "Vaderland" aufgenommen hat. Das Album dreht
sich um Freundschaft und Wärme und enthält Fan-Favoriten wie "De Streken Van De Meester," "Alles
Wat Ik Had" und "Op Een Dag." "Camera" ist First Time auf Vinyl erhältlich und enthält ein Beiblatt mit
den Songtexten.

■ "Heden" von Frank Boeijen, veröffentlicht im Jahr 2001, markierte ein neues Jahrtausend und eine
neue Ära. Nach den Alben "Vaderland" und "Ballade Van De Dromedaris", bei denen das Thema
'Abschied' den roten Faden bildete, setzt "Heden" diese Tradition fort. Es handelt sich um ein
vielseitiges Album mit einer breiten Palette von Themen. Da haben wir das Lied "Heden", in dem
Boeijen die Veränderungen in der Gesellschaft beobachtet, aber auch ein klassisches introspektives
Gedicht von Fernando Pessoa, das von Boeijen vertont wurde. Darüber hinaus enthält das Album
auch drei erfolgreiche Singles: "Tijd", "De Liefde Gaat" und das Duett mit Paskal Jakobsen (BLØF)
"Geen Gevaar". Alle drei schafften es in die niederländische Single Top 100. "Heden" ist First Time
auf Vinyl erhältlich und enthält ein Beiblatt mit den Songtexten.
