Obwohl es erst ein Jahrzehnt später offiziell veröffentlicht wurde, stellten sich TORMENTOR mit "Seventh Day of Doom" bereits 1987 vor. Angeführt vom legendären Sänger Attila Csihar klang die ungarische Bande böser und verdorbener als der primitive Heavy Metal, der in den späten 80ern und frühen 90ern aus Osteuropa kam. Sie sollten zwar noch böser klingen, aber auf dieser Aufnahme kann man bereits hören, warum diese Band von der zweiten Welle des Black Metal überschwänglich gelobt wurde.Die Riffs dröhnen, das Schlagzeug ist so schnell wie eine Lokomotive, die durch die Tore der Hölle rast, und Attila klingt, als würde er heiße Galle spucken.

Desroi and Robin Tasi, techno enthusiasts from the Ruhr area, connected through a chat group where they shared 90s and early 2000s music. This led to the creation of the "Furious Funk" label. The record includes Robin Tasi's rhythmic and tribal A1,Desroi's energetic galloping baseline A2, the nostalgic and engaging vocal dialogue in B1 "Bird Saliva" by Desroi, and Robin Tasi's ambient and gritty B2 track, "Atmo."

KOU is the new project by Apolline Schöser (half of Nina Harker) & Thomas Coquelet.

Apolline & Thomas have been performing since 2022 under the KOU guise with 24 electronic harmoniums. Producing dense layers of tones & overtones. On their debut album KOU steers in another direction. The harmonium appears occasionally, but more prominent are delicate guitar pluckings, distant vocal effects, synths, flutes, piano strokes, a touch of musical magic and Apolline’s jazz not jazz vocals.

As soon as the needle drops it’s clear we are jump-cutting straight to the other side of the mirror. Cats purr, a woman sings as if asleep, drum machines stutter and warp and Alvin Lucier is not 'sitting in a room that is not different to the one you are not in now’. If you’re already confused, join the club. But, it’s the good kind of confused, a bewildering experience akin to the first time hearing the Faust Tapes or watching Inland Empire. Wait though, as pigeons coo and the tape machine clunk-clicks a gorgeous weirdo version of Roger's and Hart’s Blue Moon emerges to let you know this isn’t just dada splurge, there’s a genius pop sensibility at work here too. Side two takes us further into the murk with mournful detuned brass, stoned Joan La Barbara-esque vocalese and a droning Farfisa hymn, before ending with another too-tempting snatch of DIY pop. Some of the references are recognisable. All kinds of 70s/80s European art prog - think early Battiato, Pierot Lunaire’s Gudrun, Lucia Bosè and Gregorio Paniagua's Io Pomodoro etc etc. There’s a strong whiff of 90s us goof-off surrealism too- Bongwater, Siltbreeze, Royal Trux’s Twin infinitives, the damaged folkier side of Alastair Galbraith, Half-Japanese, early Beck even all feel relevant.

Like an oddball group of friends you might meet by chance and end up weirding-out with for days, the minds behind this deliciously odd music allow you to stay for a while in their strange subcultural world. You might not want to live here forever but a short trip, while it lasts, rewires your brain for the better.

New Interplanetary Melodies, continues its space journey, among the most interesting musical galaxies of the Italian electronic music scene. For this new release, Simona Faraone, relies on the skilful hands of producers and musicians Marco Antonio Spaventi and Enrico Demuro, who return to work together after the experience of The Great Walk to give us this dense musical experience in the imaginary soundtrack form of a retro-futuristic sci-fi movie that embraces the ever more topical theme of survivalism.

Second chances are rare in rock 'n' roll. Most bands only get one shot at the brass ring, and once the opportunity passes by, it's gone forever. Maybe that's why Uncle Lucius sounds like a band reborn on Like It's The Last One Left, a cathartic comeback album that reunites the platinum-selling group — and pumps new blood into its roster — after a five-year hiatus. Written and recorded in the band's hometown of Austin, Texas, Like It's The Last One Left isn't just a return to form; it's an expansion, bolstering Uncle Lucius' mix of amped-up Americana and greasy roots-rock with string arrangements, adventurous production, and the sharpest songwriting of the group's career. ‘Blind On A Galloping Horse’ serves as David Holmes’ first solo album since 2008’s ‘The Holy Pictures’.  A 14-track interrogation of the last decade, time spent watching a decaying, fraying Britain visibly buckling in real time while tending to his own battles with mental health. Holmes’ soundtrack to this inquiry is at times claustrophobic, often euphoric, driven by the rattle and snap of analogue drum machines, wild oscillations of droning analogue synths and the voice of Raven Violet, which beguiles and commands in a way that could part oceans.  On this album, there are songs of hope for an age of uncertainty; love songs to leap the barricades to and, on ‘Necessary Genius’, a comprehensive roll call of the great and good - those ‘dreamers, misfits, radicals, outcasts’ that we’ve lost and just a few who’ve managed to cling on in the churn of the 21st century. Aufgenommen auf der norwegischen Insel Hadsel, kurz nachdem ein körperlicher und mentaler Zusammenbruch Condon dazu zwang, seine Tournee für 2019 abzusagen, suchte er nach einem Ort, an dem er sich erholen konnte, nachdem er sich in einem Zustand des Schocks und der Selbstzweifel befand. In der Isolation arbeitend, erklärt Condon: "Ich war in einer Trance verloren. Ich stolperte blindlings durch meinen eigenen mentalen Zusammenbruch, den ich seit meiner Teenagerzeit verdrängt hatte. Er kam und läutete mich wie eine Glocke. Ich quälte mich mit vielen Dingen der Vergangenheit und der Gegenwart, während die Schönheit der Natur, die Nordlichter und die furchterregenden Stürme um mich herum ein beeindruckendes Schauspiel boten. Die wenigen Stunden Licht brachten die unergründliche Schönheit der Berge und Fjorde zum Vorschein, und die stundenlange Dämmerung erfüllte mich mit gedämpfter Erregung. Ich würde gerne glauben, dass die Landschaft irgendwie in der Musik präsent ist. Wewantsounds is delighted to reissue, in collaboration with Corbett vs. Dempsey, one of the great albums out of the BAG galaxy recorded by Luther Thomas and a cohort of musicians including Joe Bowie, Charles Bobo Shaw, Floyd LeFlore and Lester Bowie. Recorded live in 1973 at The Berea Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, the album consists of two tracks, the formidable, aptly titled "Funky Donkey" and the spiritual "Una New York." Released as a private press on Thomas" own Creative Consciousness Records, it"s reissued here for the first time since the 70s, marking the recording"s 50th anniversary, and features original artwork, remastered audio and new liner notes by Howard Mandel.

Philadelphia apartment. With Nowell primarily composing from the hammock he used as a bed, Blue
Smiley created three short recordings within a year, featuring drummers Gracie Clements, Tim
McMonigle, and Joe Veltri. Matt McGraw, drummer and childhood friend of Slavin’s, later joined the
group to galvanize a sound that helped define Philadelphia indie rock of the 2010’s. Blue Smiley’s first
professionally recorded album ok released in 2015, featuring dystopian noise-pop compositions with
fuzzy effects, unique for its focus on groove and precipitous tempo changes. Slavin then relocated to
Austin, TX while close friend and bassist Michael Corso joined Nowell for the next iteration of the
group. True to the Blue Smiley ethos, their next full-length return soon followed, replete with snappy,
short songs that waste no time getting to the point. On return, Nowell’s hushed vocals settle deeper
into the band’s tapestry, like an iridescent thread that catches your eye at just the right moment.

In late 2021 the JUBG gallery (run by Magazine's Jens-Uwe Beyer alongside Albert Oehlen and Alexander Warhus) showed the German brothers Schaufler. Matthias, a painter, and Aksel, a musician and DJ (Superpitcher), came up with an exhibition soundtrack that was released back then as one half of an ultra rare drawing / vinyl combination only. Subsequently, the music caught Barnt's and Crato's ears. The bittersweet pulsating ode to being an artist, sprawling and boundless, complete with voices from the sky, seemed perfect for our label. We are happy to announce that the regular release of schaufler vs schaufler part 1 & 2 will indeed come out on Magazine now.

"Solo in Space" and "Restless" on the filp side deliver direct, pulsating sounds and rhythms, embracing an impactful electro-techno vision.
