Presenting Chapter 4! Working On It (here’s the original - you heard the remix on Chapter 3), a mid tempo bossa-inspired track features the wordsmithery of Philadelphia’s Rich Medina speaking on the idiosyncrasies and journey of life, joined by Bembe Segue. Together features Vanessa Freeman on vocals - previously heard in remix form on Chapter 2 - a timelessly uplifting soulful house excursion. Domu returns to the project with a second remix of Little Did I Know - this time flipping it for the broken beat dancefloor in classic Domu style, and we wrap up with Neroli’s Volcov remixing Anybody Out There for the 4/4 lovers.

Opening with the broken beat, soul-drenched I See You featuring Detroit’s Paul Randolph on vocals along with Taku Hirano on percussion Chapter 3 is here! Vanessa Freeman and Bembe Segue absolutely radiate on the head-nod of Little Did I Know, complete with Marcus Machado lacing classic D’Angelo-meets-Prince guitars. You heard the Domu remix on Chapter 1, and finally here’s the original! The EP wraps up with two remixes courtesy of Alex Attias and LTJ Xperience. Alex reworks the Bembe Segue featuring Never Gonna Leave into a deep tech house dancefloor workout while Italy's LTJ Xperience’s remix brings the mid tempo 4/4 to Rich Medina and Bembe Segue on Working On It (original version still to come!).

Ten years after his first full-length effort ‘Man Is Deaf’ landed him firmly in the runnings for DJ Mag’s album of the year, prodigal son Michael Anthony Wright AKA Brassica returns to Civil Music with a deeply accomplished, painstakingly whittled LP of hydraulic electro slickness, rich synthscapes, and hooky, peak-time tearjerkers for the most discerning front-left lifers. ‘Tribeless Gathering’ is a barnstorming testament to Brassica’s stylistic and timbral deftness, touching down in the elusive epicentre of the club/home listening venn diagram with ease.

From the elastic, neon acid pointillism of opener ‘Hop Kweng’ to the mardy, miasmic plod of closing chugger ‘Changa Hill’, Brassica seamlessly segues between avenues of influence, his notoriously omnivorous musical knowledge roadmapping each turn. Raised on a diet of everything from early rave standards to metal, and schooled in avant garde sonics as a student of sound design at LCC, Brassica does a peerless job of sublimating his countless influences into a record of refined, heterogeneous, and most crucially, catchy, club moods.

Less spartan than his more recent oeuvre on Feel My Bicep, and less baroque than his technicolour experiments in postmodern synth pop with vocalist Stuart Warwick, Tribeless Gathering represents Brassica’s triumphant return to the main room, replete with rushy hooks primed for the planet’s finest soundsystems, and passages of heads-down tension bound to draw listeners right to the edge of their seats. Overall it is a concise and refined testament to Wright’s command of spectral sonics and effortless ability to pressurise a dancefloor. It is no surprise that he has also worked as a prolific mastering engineer, tuning music from a plethora of dance disciplines for maximum club impact. This work extends to his own projects (including this one), cementing them as rare expressions of complete artistry from studio to turntable.

As we delve deeper into the record, we are ushered through a series of accomplished and varied club moods, each channelling a unique cocktail of influences, but retaining a warm, ebullient analogue sensibility unique to Brassica’s work. This playful scope of influence calls to mind James T Cotton or Machinedrum’s experiments in dance music form, but Wright manages it all under one roof, wrangling everything from sashaying wub-laden two step to snarling Dillinja-esque FM damage into something inherently his.

Choice cut ‘Change Yourself’ layers an almost Cerrone-like piano refrain over radiant surges of saturated bass, dubby, strobing chords and a jagged, driving break, building to a jaw-clenching apex of dancefloor elation, while the rude, playful half-step of ‘Elevation’ breaks down the vintage speed garage formula into linear fragments, utilising a tight palette of resonant bass slugs, infectious synth leads and Papua New Guinea-style vocal strobes. The aptly named ‘Hold Tight’ fuses heart-in-mouth UK ‘ardkore pads with glissando acid disturbance and surgical snare fills in a formula which recalls the ethereal grit of Nubian Mindz’ 00s experiments in big-smoke break science, while the questing melodic arcs and arpeggiated squarewaves of ‘Pinball Marinara’ could easily have soundtracked an 80s sci-fi epic, beset with sparkling, bare-bones drum programming and hazy beds of sub sediment.

With ‘Tribeless Gathering’, Brassica both irreverently fuses and pays homage to the many unique and weird permutations of UK dance music. The short lived gathering of junglists, ravers and house hotsteppas of a similar name may have long since dissipated, along with the tribes themselves, but across these 11 tracks, he lays a blueprint for a new sound of togetherness.

Chapter 2 EP continues with more future classics, kicking off with the jazz dancefloor workout Never Gonna Leave featuring the Queen of Broken Beat Bembé Segué on vocals and shredding sax solos courtesy Teodross Avery. In classic soulful broken beat fashion, Bembe reunites again with Vanessa Freeman for Technicolor Sunshine – drenched in MdCL’s signature production sound. Two remixes complete this installment with Mr Scruff and Kaidi Tatham’s downtempo reworking Anybody Out There (check out the original version on Chapter 1) and Italy’s G&D coming through

Bread & Souls is an ensemble of musicians, singers, DJs, producers and most of all, friends: a global family brought together by Franco Fusari under the musical direction of producer/electronic jazz pioneer Mark de Clive-Lowe.

Chapter 1 features vocal and instrumental tracks kicking off with an incredible exclusive: for the first time together on the same track West London Queens Bémbé Segue and Vanessa Freeman deliver a broken beat future classic. Paul Randolph features on a superb boogie tune, while Domu delivers an amazing remix of “Little Did I Know” - after almost a decade’s absence, he’s as brilliant as ever. And all supported by a great band: MdCL (keys), Tommaso Cappellato (drums), Marcus Machado and Landy Shores (guitars), Max Luthert (bass), Taku Hirano (percussion).

Mit ihrem neuen Meisterwerk "Beautiful Distortion" melden sich THE GATHERING am 29.04.2022 eindrucksvoll zurück!

Satte 10 Jahre haben sich THE GATHERING, die mit Alben wie "Mandylion", "How To Measure A Planet?" oder "Souvenirs" zu internationalen Ikonen atmosphärischer Rockmusik wurden, für ihr neustes Werk Zeit gelassen, denn nach über 16 Jahren im Hamsterrad von Tourneen, die sich mit Albumaufnahmen abwechselten, um dann die nächste Tournee zu bestreiten, und dem Weggang ihres langjährigen Bassisten Marjolein Kooijman in 2013, brauchten die Musiker einfach mal eine Pause, um ihre Batterien wieder aufzuladen und sich um ihre Familien zu kümmern.

Ihr 25jähriges Bandbestehen 2014 haben THE GATHERING dennoch mit allen aktuellen und ehemaligen Bandmitgliedern im Doornroosje Club in Nijmegen groß gefeiert, um sich danach wieder in ihre selbst auferlegte musikalische Klausur zu begeben.

2018 dann war die Band wieder startklar. In Hugo Prinsen Geerligs, der bereits von 1989 bis 2003 die vier Saiten bei THE GATHERING bediente, fand man einen neuen Bassisten und die Gruppe begann, neue Songs zu schreiben und Konzerte zu spielen, bis 2020 die Pandemie zuschlug und alles um weitere zwei Jahre verzögerte.

Das 11.Studioalbum von THE GATHERING knüpft stilistisch an den Vorgänger "Disclosure" von 2012 an. Acht Titel, im für die Band typischen, satten Electro-Rock-Sound - auch als Trip Rock bekannt - , getoppt von wunderbaren Gesangsmelodien und der warmen Stimme von Sängerin Silje Wergeland machen "Beautiful Distortion" zum wahrscheinlich dynamischsten und melodischsten THE GATHERING-Album in ihrer über 30jährigen Bandgeschichte.

Produziert und gemixt wurde "Beautiful Distortion" von Attie Bauw (u.a. Judas Priest, Scorpions), der bereits bei den THE GATHERING-Alben "Home" und "How To Measure A Planet?" an den Reglern saß. Für das Mastering zeichnet Maor Appelbaum (u.a. Faith No More) verantwortlich.
Die Musik wurde von der Band im Arnold Muhren Studio in Volendam (NL) eingespielt, alle Gesangsparts wurden im Bergen Lydstudio in Norwegen aufgenommen.
"Beautiful Distortion" wurde in Dolby Atmos gemischt und kann auf allen Plattformen, die Dolby Atmos Mixe anbieten, gestreamt werden.

Sämtliche Bandmitglieder waren von Anfang an am kreativen Prozess und den Aufnahmen beteiligt, sowohl einzeln, online, als auch persönlich und gemeinsam, wann immer es möglich war. Es war zwar eine Herausforderung, während der Pandemie und den damit verbundenen Maßnahmen ein Album über zwei Länder hinweg zu schreiben und aufzunehmen, doch THE GATHERING haben auch dies mit Bravour gemeistert.

originally released in 2009, has been out of print on vinyl for over 13 years. It is the first
album with new singer Silje Wergeland and contains guest vocals from Marcela Bovio and
Anne van den Hoogen.

Es ist das erste Album der Band mit der Sängerin Anneke van Giersbergen. Mandylion ist das bis heute meistverkaufte Album von The Gathering. Strange Machines, eine unerwartete Hit-Single in den Niederlanden, wurde im holländischen Radio viel gespielt und ist immer noch oft in diversen All-Time-Listen zu finden. Das Album wurde zwischen dem 1. und 16. Juni 1995 in den Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Deutschland, aufgenommen und gemischt, und zwar unter der Leitung von Siggi Bemm und Waldemar Sorychta.

Es ist das erste Album der Band mit der Sängerin Anneke van Giersbergen. Mandylion ist das bis heute meistverkaufte Album von The Gathering. Strange Machines, eine unerwartete Hit-Single in den Niederlanden, wurde im holländischen Radio viel gespielt und ist immer noch oft in diversen All-Time-Listen zu finden. Das Album wurde zwischen dem 1. und 16. Juni 1995 in den Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Deutschland, aufgenommen und gemischt, und zwar unter der Leitung von Siggi Bemm und Waldemar Sorychta.

Im April 2023 gibt es nun eine neue Rote Vinylfarbe für den Handel!

März 1997 in den Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Deutschland, unter der unter der Leitung von Produzent Siggi Bemm und The Gathering aufgenommen. Nighttime Birds war ein logischer Nachfolger von Mandylion, und atmet die gleiche Atmosphäre.

John Williams selbst dirigiert die New Yorker Philharmoniker. John Williams und Yo-Yo Ma lernten sich vor etwa vier Jahrzehnten kennen, als der Oscar-prämierte Komponist Dirigent des Boston Pops Orchestra wurde und Ma gerade seine Solokarriere begann. Ihre Zusammenarbeit erstreckt sich von gemeinsamen Konzerten, der Zusammenarbeit bei Filmmusiken bis hin zur Amtseinführung von Präsident Barack Obama im Jahr 2008 und ist von einer dauerhaften gegenseitigen Wertschätzung geprägt. Von ihren ersten Begegnungen an erkannte jeder im anderen das Verständnis, dass, wie Williams es einfach ausdrückt, "Musik unser Sauerstoff ist".Im Mittelpunkt von "A Gathering of Friends" steht die Ersteinspielung von John Williams' neu überarbeiteter Version seines Cellokonzerts, das er 1994 für Ma komponierte und das beide bereits 2001 für Sony Classical aufnahmen. Während der Aufführungen des viersätzigen Konzerts in den letzten drei Jahrzehnten nahm Williams bereits erhebliche Änderungen an der Partitur vor. Ma merkte an, dass die neue Version sogar "größere Änderungen, strukturelle Änderungen" enthält, mit einem Schlusssatz, der "ein einziger glorreicher Song ist". Ebenfalls auf "A Gathering of Friends" zu hören sind neue Arrangements, die John Williams für Yo-Yo Ma von drei Stücken aus seiner mit dem Oscar ausgezeichneten Filmmusik zu "Schindlers Liste" geschaffen hat sowie ein neues Arrangement für Cello und Streicher von "With Malice Toward None" aus der Filmmusik zu "Lincoln" von 2012. Das Album schließt mit einem Duo-Arrangement für Ma und den Gitarristen Pablo Sáinz-Villegas von "Prayer for Peace" aus dem Film "München" von 2005. Alle drei Filmmusiken sind Teile der langjährigen Partnerschaft von Williams mit Regisseur Steven Spielberg.Das andere Konzertstück auf "A Gathering of Friends" ist "Highwood's Ghost", ein Stück von John Williams für Cello und Orchester, das die Freundschaft zwischen Williams und Ma im Bezug zum legendären Komponisten und Dirigenten Leonard Bernstein dokumentiert. Williams komponierte das Werk zur Feier des 100-jährigen Jubiläums von Leonard Bernstein in Tanglewood im Sommer 2018 und schrieb eindringliche Solopartien für Ma und die Soloharfenistin des Boston Symphony Orchestra, Jessica Zhou, die auch bei dieser Aufnahme mit dem New York Philharmonic die Harfe spielt."A Gathering of Friends" ist das musikalische Highlight einer langjährigen Freundschaft und ein großartiges Album für alle Fans der Musik von John Williams und Yo Yo Ma.

The early incarnation of the band featured a much more death & doom metalbased style than the more atmospheric rock & experimental music they became
known for over the years, having enjoyed a highly successful career globally over
a 20-year period. The band recorded 2 demos initially before making their studio
debut with 'Always…'. 'Always…' was The Gathering's debut full- length album.
Originally released in 1992 , it is a prime example of classic atmospheric death/
doom metal with brutal vocals & slow funereal riffing influenced by bands such as
Celtic Frost, as well as the implementation of keyboards to accentuate the dark
ambience. Now released on Peaceville for the first time, a track from the release
was even featured on an early Peaceville Records compilation, 'Volume 4', with
the track 'In Sickness & Health'.

a compilation of tracks recorded at Channel One, produced by Jah Lloyd
and named after Mike's biggest hit

Mit der emotionalen, kraftvollen und von Pop-Nostalgie durchfluteten Platte, treiben Choir Boy ihren unverwechselbaren Sound auf eine neue Ebene. "Gathering Swans" steckt voller mitreißendem Herzschmerz und zeigt die Band von einer zärtlichen, romantischen Seite. Choir Boy startete als das Projekt von Sänger Adam Klopp, mit ständig rotierenden Bandmitgliedern. Inzwischen haben Choir Boy eine feste Besetzung bestehend aus Klopps langjährigem Wegbegleiter und Bassisten Chaz Costello, dem Saxophonisten und Keyboarder Jeff Kleinman und dem Gitarristen Michael Paulsen. 2016 veröffentlichten Choir Boy ihr, von der Kritik gefeiertes, Debütalbum "Passive With Desire", auf welches 2018 die Single "Sunday Light" folgte. Nach einer Reihe von Tourneen mit Acts wie Cold Cave, Snail Mail und Ceremony begannen Choir Boy mit dem Schreiben ihres neuen Albums. "Gathering Swans" erweist sich als ein würdiger Nachfolger und baut auf Choir Boys mitreißendem Sound mit poppiger Sensibilität auf. Das Album überzeugt mit seinem berührenden "Choral-Pop"-Klang, der zu einem Markenzeichen von Choir Boy geworden ist. "Gathering Swans" ist kreativ, authentisch, leidenschaftlich und schrill. Hollie Kenniff is a Canadian-American electronic musician. The Gathering Dawn is her debut solo album .
The album, which is her first ambient proclamation, displays a sprawling looseness in sharp contrast to her works as one half of Mint Julep with husband Keith Kenniff (Helios, Goldmund).
The Gathering Dawn wistfully utilizes glacial synths, blurred out guitars and Hollie's melancholic vocal plumes as a basis. The album finds Hollie effortlessly folding classic ambient motifs in with minimal modernist brushstrokes.

The Gathering Dawn will be out on November 15th on limited edition 180gm pink vinyl and compact disc.
