Dry Tears is the latest release from the Bruto Industries label and their first release in 12" format. On this occasion, xKukum, one of the founding members of the label, presents his first EP.

The record, which was recorded in late 2020, traces an emotional journey from the distortion of reality caused by melancholy to the determination to move away from it. The EP consists of four original tracks that guide the listener through this journey, with influences from EBM, Dark Wave, Techno, and more. On side A, we find more introspective and melodic tracks, while side B offers sounds more focused on the dance floor. As a special addition, Colombian artist Filmmaker contributes a remix of the track "No More Dramas," complementing the atmosphere of the album with his characteristic powerful sound.

Like previous releases from the label, this work has been mastered by Dan Böhler, who has provided the EP with a sound quality that will not disappoint genre lovers. The artwork is done by Marcos Abella, who completes the concept with an imagery influenced by manga and cyberpunk aesthetics.

What would have happened if Michael Dudikoff had gone missing in action, say – in Poland in 1987 – during the harshest freezing spell of the century? Would he have coped under these conditions like John Rambo has in the town of Hope? We shall never find out, but the soundtrack is already there. Latarnik and Cancer G (members of EABS and Błoto) would call this film Zima Stulecia: Minus 30°C.

When Twin Peaks debuted on Polish National Television with its oneiric music by Angelo Badalamenti, Poland could feel as eerie as the series. Seemingly nothing quite matched, but on the other hand, no one was surprised. Growing up in the 1990s inevitably brings back memories of stalls selling a variety of products. You could buy there cleaning products from Germany, some underwear, Haribo jellies and Jacobs coffee, and have access to the "latest" cultural releases, which would be arriving late in Poland. This is where one could obtain pirated copies of cassette tapes and VHS, the labels of which had typewritten film titles that transported kids' fantasies to another world. With such content distribution, many of these kids got their first glimpse of Predator, Terminator, Robocop, as well as Van Damme's stunts in Bloodsport and a plethora of other B action movies, which to this day - like American Ninja - are rerun on TV over and over again. The afterimages of these soundtracks nestled in the heads of Marcin Rak and Marek Pędziwiatr for years and found expression on their debut album.

The music of Zima Stulecia is difficult to label in terms of genre. It oscillates towards melancholic electronic music. For some it will be techno, others will hear elements of house, all accompanied by improvised synth and percussion music.

Zima Stulecia is a duo that was not supposed to have any chance of success. Many years ago, back in 2006, when they were still budding musicians they met for the first time at a jazz workshop. When they found out where they both came from and that they were separated by almost 800 kilometers, despite having great chemistry in playing, they
jokingly said goodbye with the sentence: "it was fun playing together!". They figured they would never meet again. At the time, none of them imagined that in a few years' time in Wrocław they will form one of the most interesting contemporary jazz bands in Poland: EABS and Błoto. On top of that, they were both born in January 1987. The last of the historic "winters of the century" (eng. for "zima stulecia") occurred at that time in Poland, which ultimately determined their name as a band. Minus 30°C album is a recording of the non-verbal workings of these soulmates, and a fruit of a musical collaboration that has lasted for 16 years.

Taiwanese label JIN records enters autumn 2022, with a new promising release by South Korea’s Yetsuby. As always searching for gems in the pan-Asian domain, JIN is delighted to have Yetsuby for its latest/6th release.

On this EP, one-half of the ambient duo Salamanda, Yetsuby showcases her expertise in mood setting soundscapes, taking listeners on a sound journey across a wide array of musical spectra.

Opening on A1, Yetsuby reinterprets a traditional Korean folk story of a bear devouring garlic and green onions, transforming the animal into a human being. Aptly named ” Bear Becomes The Human,” she transforms the transformed, turning the bear into a buzzing modern drum & bass-fused energetic tune. It turns out garlic is a powerful source after all.

B1’s “Jelly” showcases Yetsuby’s talent for stripped-back glitch music: With a minimal bass and drum pattern, the track gently muddles along and presents itself as well suited warm-up track for the earlier hours of any party.


For the remix sides, Cleveland delivers a vinyl only remix of “Bear Becomes The Human” with a futuristic house tune filled with jungle like drum pattern and techy yet smooth atmosphere on A2.


On B2, New Zealand’s Eden Burns takes an entirely different path on his reinterpretation of Jelly. Embarking from the original pattern, he turns the original into a slow brewing psychedelic trance cracker that seems most suited for the early morning after hours that need an energy boost.

Z Lovecraft AKA Rhythm Section International's Mali Baden-Powell, offers up four originals on the Utopia Club Tracks label that showcase the disco/house end of his varied output. 'Exotic Passage' coasts along serenely with gently slapped bongos and warm electric piano, definitely a weapon to have in one's warm up arsenal. 'Release (The Tension)' ups the heat a little with a busier bassline, filters and disco licks, before B-side opener 'Lust In Denial' comes with more jazz-slanted piano riffs and 'People Get Too Deep' closes proceedings with the most spacious and dubby arrangement of the quartet. Musically refreshing and understated but lively enough to move feet onto dancefloors, this is the business.

Fast-rising pianist and producer Yoni Mayraz presents his debut LP ‘Dybbuk Tse!’ revealing the story of a malicious possession that is taking over one’s body and soul.

Dybbuk, known from Jewish folklore, is a malevolent wandering spirit that enters and possesses the body of a living person. It’s a cursed soul of a dead one that wanders tirelessly for sins committed during their life. The most vulnerable victims are the young and the sinful. Possession can be taken literally or as an analogy to the burden that young people carry generations back, which they have no influence on, and which they have to accept. Dybbuk can only be removed by exorcism. The titular ‘Dybbuk Tse!’ is a command to remove the spirit from the possessed body. The album is a story about possession but also about exorcism through music.

Recorded live with his band in a dusty wooden studio, ‘Dybbuk Tse!’ is indeed experimenting with the ‘darker side of things’, but yet with a somewhat lighthearted approach which is so typical of Yoni’s work. He easily combines jazz with the sound of 90’s New York hip hop and raw old school breakbeat. The album interweaves unique Middle Eastern melodies, sophisticated structures and sounds, and beautifully crafted solos played by some of the promising talents on the scene.

London based Israeli born pianist and producer Yoni Mayraz has set foot in the instrumental music scene with his EP ‘Rough Cuts’ released in 2020. Since then, Yoni and his band have been playing major venues and festivals around the world including the legendary Ronnie Scott’s and The Jazz Cafe, to name a few, bringing raw energy to stage with live versions of the studio materials, and stretching the melodies and structures into a Dancefloor-focused take on jazz.

‘Dybbuk Tse!’ album will be released by Astigmatic Records on LP in regular and limited (B1 poster included) editions, as well as on all streaming platforms.

Since we've known him, Robert Lloyd has made quite clear his enormous affection for the songs and sounds of Freakwater, the duo of Janet Beveridge-Bean and Catherine Irwin who've been wrongly denied their place as rightful and willful progenitors of alt-country's 'movement', which (frankly) is to their credit. Their genius in offering absolute authentic to the sound old-time Appalachian folk music with a modern façade that in no way negates tradition (one of their albums is titled Feels Like The Third Time) is unparalleled within the genre, and Freakwater remain under-appreciated. After the start of Covid, Robert dared approach Janet with the idea of recording together. Over the course of the long pandemic, songs were bandied about for months, and when recording was finally practical, a band was assembled with dates set up for a recording session in Valencia, Spain. Robert and Janet were joined by Robert's long-time ally, Pete Byrchmore, the musical foil for Robert's solo album on Virgin and a former Nightingale, Mark Bedford, the bassist for Madness and Terry Edwards' Near Jazz Experience, and Pablo Roda, Spanish mystery drummer, couldn't have worked out more perfectly. Tracks were selected without regard for collective presentation, just the goal of walking out of the studio with an album of perfect gems. Forget Lee & Nancy or George & Tammy, Rob and Janet have an immediate chemistry that only sounds long-lived - and too uniquely them to merit any comparison. The title track, Black Cat, Dark Horse is the sole Lloyd / Bean / Byrchmore composition and one of the record 's highlights. Jim Elkington, collaborator with Jeff Tweedy and Richard Thompson, contributes Heavy Reckonings and a song written with Janet, The True Lovers' Knot And The Lie, while Robert adds reworkings from past releases - Sweet Georgia Black and Black Country (with Pete) - not to mention the unreleased Eggs And Bacon. Janet brought One Shot and the unheard Freakwater song Arc Of A Smile. Covers of tunes from Dion and The Monkees and a magnificent Jon Langford song, "Tears Like Stars" round out the album. We daresay the album is among the finest you'll hear in 2023. That it doesn't fit perfectly into any preconceived genre is a testament to its quality. "Songcraft" is a word used infrequently today, yet Black Cat, Dark Horse will show that good songs endure. We're proud that Robert and Janet will find some new admirers through this album's release. The Michael Cumming / Stewart Lee film King Rocker made a case for Robert Lloyd-as-losthero; this album furthers that idea and shows a compelling side of Janet's talent and abilities which will be a surprise to her fans and serve as an entry point to exploring her many other compelling projects.

Andrius Arutiunian’s debut album »Seven Common Ways of Disappearing« was first conceived as an installation for the Armenia Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2022. The Armenian/Lithuanian artist and composer uses hybrid forms of music, focusing on sonic vernaculars, hypnotic musical forms, and aural cosmologies. Arutiunian is known to work with installations, sound objects, and time-based collaborations with ensembles and performers. The piece on this record was written for two musicians, a retuned piano and analogue electronics, and it borrows an enneagram as its score—the world-ordering model introduced by the controversial Armenian-Greek mystic and composer G.I. Gurdjieff. The result is an album that is both aesthetically and spiritually intoxicating music of the spheres, at once reminiscent of the masterpieces of minimal music and improvised, if not stochastic music. G.I. Gurdjieff was one of the first thinkers and (quite possibly charlatans) to introduce a syncretic idea of Eastern philosophy into the West. His unique way of teaching was based on an esoteric blend of Middle Eastern, Buddhist, and Dervish philosophies, and oscillated between a genuine search for enlightenment and a complex form of trickery. Borrowing from Gurdjieff’s writing on the world ordering and musical tuning, Arutiunian used the enneagram to organise the musical and structural matter of the piece that was originally conceived as a live performance.»Seven Common Ways of Disappearing« is written for a grand piano—the epitome of Western composition and musical production—and follows a simple set of rules: the two musicians have to navigate the topography of the score, rendering the piece in a different configuration each time. In a sense, this gripping recording is thus only one of the potentially infinite versions of how it could be played, but also seems to take on different shapes and forms with each new listen. It documents a truly mystical composition that follows its own logic

Please take the five stars not as a statement that this is the best record of 2013, but as a delighted endorsement of a genre classic. With his fifth record (3 with Harpoons, and 2 solo) Ezra Furman has made an album of classicist rock'n'roll that never feels like an exercise, but a living, breathing piece of self-expression. The foundations are obvious, but the simple touches that adorn them are what elevates Day of the Dog. Been So Strange, for example, is the Velvet Underground's chugging R&B reincarnated, but with the delicious addition of a horn section. It leaves you wondering why Lou Reed never thought to do the same, so well does it work. Slacker/Adria is nervy, jittery powerpop until two minutes in, when the bottom drops out of the song and it turns into a doomy riff over which Furman appears to be telling us his nightmares: "I see white crosses burning across a dark landscape." He's seen his critics coming, too: the liner notes contain an index so you can check off the references. Clever, funny, sharp and tuneful – a great rock'n'roll record.” Michael Hann (The Guardian).

Exotica, ye-yé cumbia, guaracha infused twist, rock’n roll mambo, Spanish rumba, boogaloo beat, tropical garage and other unexpected bastard genres are featured in this festive compilation of bizarre hits taken from the glorious catalog of records released during the 60s and 70s on the Peruvian label Discos MAG. Some clearly unite genres, others are projects with creative names, but all are bold musical initiatives that got and will always get people onto the dance floor. “Sabroso Go Go” brings together fourteen musical mixes created in the recording studios of Manuel Antonio Guerrero (MAG), in which music directors combine rhythm with alchemy in a quest to find the philosopher's stone of the dance. Exotica, ye-yé cumbia, guaracha infused twist, rock’n roll mambo, Spanish rumba, boogaloo beat, tropical garage and other unexpected bastard genres are featured in this festive compilation. Although this compilation begins in 1957, experiments like this (some more memorable than others) were not new in Peru. The songs on this album were however much more successful hybrids. Some clearly unite genres, others are projects with creative names, but all are bold musical initiatives that got and will always get people onto the dance floor. At the end of the fifties, rock music shook the foundations of Peru, and orchestras rushed to cover hit songs and explore the possibilities of mixing them with tropical music. Lucho Macedo's orchestra took up the mantle and reinterpreted a well-known guaracha by Celia Cruz ('Rock and Roll') in mambo style, renaming it 'Rock and roll Mambo'. 'Maestro de Rock and Roll', a hit by the Cuban Conjunto Casino, received similar treatment. Another mix in this vein is the rock tune 'El Rock de los Chinos' by the Mexican Manolo Muñoz (author of 'Speedy González') recorded by the Chilean Choche Mérida for MAG in 1961. The following year, Chubby Checker’s 'The Twist' hit the scene and was immediately fused with guaracha by maestro Nelson Ferreyra. A legendary MAG musician, Carlos Pickling, composed 'La Charanga del Espacio' in 1963. The space sounds are produced by Pickling and his inseparable Hammond. He himself is the one who leads the orchestra that accompanies Benny Del Solar, Lita Branda and Pablo "Melcochita" Villanueva in the tropicalized version of Spanish Rumba, when the beats of the Iberian rumba were still exotic in South America. Around that time, the Chilean Willy Marambio was already living in Lima. In the track included on this album, the go-go style showcases his virtuosity on the trumpet. Another outstanding trumpet player, Roberto "Tito" Chicoma from Chiclayo, played as a session musician with MAG from 1959. A few years later, he became one of the most popular Colombian cumbia players, a talent he demonstrates in the song on this compilation, which blends the fun of go-go with yé-yé beats. 'Batijugando' was a hit from Mexico and was played in all the rhythms played across the Hispanic world since 1967. Inspired by the "Batman" series, it was performed at MAG by the Betico Salas orchestra, with vocals by the Panamanian lady crooner Nallye Fernández. 'Computador Electrónico' is another surprise on this album, performed by Panamanian vocalist Patty Pastel, it is the only known version in Spanish of 'Der Computer Nr. 3', originally sung in German by France Gall. Two other songs feature Edgar Zamudio. The versatility of Zamudio y Los Vikingos (originally a Chilean group) is demonstrated in the guitar-heavy song composed specifically for the late sixties skate fashion ('Go Go en Patines') and in his idiosyncratic protest song ('Día de Pago') performed in beat style. In the mid-seventies, Los Kintos, led by guitarist Francisco Acosta, developed different harmonic ideas in an instrumental track that veers from boogaloo to salsa, the fashionable rhythm of the day. Finally, in 1976, when the bumping hips dance craze swept the continent, Manuel Guerrero was quick to jump onto the bandwagon, composing a Bump song, together with his son Carlos. The Italian musician based in Lima, Luciano Luciani performed the song 'A Bailar Bump' backed by his band of local musicians Los Mulatos.

Colombian sisters Elia and Elizabeth Fleta recorded a handful of songs between 1972 and 1973, accompanied by Jimmy Salcedo and his group La Onda Tres, mixing soft-pop with a touch of tropical-pastoral funk, singer-songwriter sweetened by the subtle perfume of Caribbean music and psychedelia. We are now happy to present two of the most celebrated songs by the Colombian sisters together on a 45 for the first time. A Tropical funk pop gem! Audio Soul Project is back with their latest vinyl-only EP, Simurgh. With a title inspired by the mythical Persian bird, these four tracks fuse elements of house, R&B, dub, and drum & bass to create an ecstatic and hypnotic experience.

The EP kicks off with "Deliver Me," a dreamy house track with warm filtered chords and bouncing synth bass. R&B female vocal ad libs pepper the groove and the refrain "Deliver Me" adds a sense of yearning. The percussion, including morphing 4x4 and breakbeat drums, piano and synth stabs, nod to the cerebral Detroit and Chicago house compositions of the mid 90s.

"Azizam Dub" takes a more stripped-down approach with a subsonic bass line bump and Juno 106 stabs. Frantic percussion and deftly cut vocal samples accent the ebbs and flows of the arrangement, making for a dynamic and engaging dance.

The B-side of the record starts with "Internal Vybrations," a bass-heavy drum & bass track that winds and jumps with multiple layers of deep, fluttering bass and ambient pads and strings. Percussion layers like hi-hats, shakers, and maracas lift and relax the rhythm in parallel to the rest of the composition, making for a hypnotic and trance-inducing vibe.

The B2 track on the EP, "Celebration Dub," is a bass-heavy swinging house track with ecstatic diva "Whooo" samples that punctuate the ups and downs of the groove's energy. Classic reggae and dub-influenced vocal samples and heavy tape delay on certain key instruments add to the joyful and uplifting vibe of the track. The keyboard

and string section can transport a dancer to other realms of consciousness if they let themselves go to the groove.

Simurgh is a masterful fusion of various genres that showcases Audio Soul Project's production prowess and ability to create an entrancing sonic journey.

Detroit’s Eddie Fowlkes returns to Rekids this June with ‘Bahama Man EP’

Delta Swamp Rock is an interstate southern road-trip through the United States of America where country, rock and soul met at the crossroads - an exploration of the musical and cultural links between the cities of Memphis, Muscle Shoals and Nashville in the 1960s and 70s.

At the start of the 1970s, a new type of music emerged out of the southern states of Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. Southern rock, the creation of young blue-collar white Americans, blended rock, soul, country and blues music together to present a new vision of the south – a post-civil rights southern identity complete with a celebration of the regions natural landscape and its way of life.

The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd epitomised the definitive southern rock groups – a mixture of blues-rock and country with a southern rebelliousness and attitude. Unfortunately both The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd were to be struck by tragedy, which would affect the movement’s rise and fall.

The backstory to southern rock is the fact that a number of the people involved in its creation had been central to the production of southern soul music in the 1960s mainly in Memphis, Tennessee, and the small town of Muscle Shoals (population around 10,000) deep within the bible-belt, liquor-free, deeply segregated state of Alabama, creating 100s of R&B hits on an almost daily basis.

Here in Muscle Shoals, with its proximity to Memphis and Nashville, an all-white group of in-house musicians, (famously referred to by Lynyrd Skynyrd in the song ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ as the ‘Swampers’), created countless classic soul records for the likes of Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Etta James, Clarence Carter and more during the 1960s.

This album charts the rise and fall of southern rock from its funky swamp roots in southern soul to its phenomenal success in the first-half of the 1970s, including its influence on Nashville’s ‘outlaw’ country and tracing it right back to the arrival of rock and roll in the 1950s - the first meeting of black and white American music at the crossroads.

Jan Kincl, a Croatian artist with music released on BBE, Far Out, and Sonar Kollektiv, is launching his own label Cycle Records with an EP titled "For A Minute". Written and produced at Jan's Cycle Studio in Zagreb, the EP features two original tracks riding a thin line between techno and house, and a remix from Gene Hunt, one of the pioneering artists responsible for shaping the early sound of Chicago - "I loved the way the original had such an old school feel to it, jazzy vibes with a 70's touch. When I was asked to do a remix I was like yesssir! It reminds me of something that Moodymann would make. It contained a '94 vibe, Detroit and Chicago combo. Not to mention it was a totally different vibe for me, and I'm honored to be a part of something new and different." - said Gene about this collaboration.

Despite the band's innovative approach to the genre, GELD makes no pretensions at being “interesting” for interesting’s sake - As vocalist Al Smith puts it, “One of the most boring things people can do is try to dress up what someone else has already contributed to a genre and make it ‘clever’… We’re more interested in finding our own position.” With Currency // Castration, GELD offers no promise of a higher purpose or resolve. Adam Pits is back with his second album on Leeds based On Rotation ‘Synthetic Serenity’ represents the next evolutionary step of Adam’s sound design and direction. In stark contrast to his first album, ‘A Recurring Nature’, this new release moves out of the forest and into the digital landscape, capturing the sound of a future world over 8 varied tracks.

Adam Pits talks about the inspiration behind the new album:

“It’s hard to put into words how much of an impact 2022 had on my life. I could talk for hours about the highs and lows, the journeys, both inside and out of my body. Or I could just make an album.

Having delved into the deeper reaches of techno and ambient, I wanted to show my appreciation for these genres on the record. Atmosphere, clarity and warmth became the pillars of my new sonic exploration, with stress falling on my signature ‘journeying’ style. The album describes the idea of being at peace with machines and being open to the idea that in the future we will find ourselves more and more involved with one another.

‘Synthetic Serenity’ is a product of a big energy release. It’s a testament to my acceptance of change in life and I believe it’s a true sign of my sonic evolution”

Bristol’s Remotif makes his highly-awaited debut on space•lab with his wormhole of a new EP, ‘Substation Fever’. Kicking things off on the A side, the title track enters the scene with spacious, organic drums, building in energy as we tunnel through its course; travelling from the cool, oxygenated air of a forest-scape into dazzling, far-reaching intergalactic realms.

Next up, ‘Substation Fever’ gets a dreamy reimagining courtesy of Leeds legend and space•lab regular, Adam Pits. Channelling the energy of Remotif’s original into a hazy, blissed-out cloudscape, this track was made for accompanying early morning sunrises where orange-hued dashes of light reflect off the surface of gently rippling water.

On the flip side, ‘Hi Tek Lo Life’, crackles with the fluctuating electrical impulses of a TV without signal or a radio between channels. Flecked with corroded vocal samples and billowing synthlines, this is a track that explores the inbetween - the moment when connection is almost lost, but not quite. There is a beauty in the roughened-edges of these partially obscured details.

The final track of the EP, ‘The Signal Prevails’ is perhaps an answer to its precursor. Opening out onto trip-hop-esque terrain, this track follows the path set out by a blurred-out, echoing vocal as it deftly works its way through narrow, winding pathways of powerful 90s-style breaks.

Mit der Veröffentlichung von vier Studioalben hat die Band die Messlatte immer höher gelegt, was nicht nur zu zahlreichen Tourneen durch Europa, sondern auch zu Headliner-Touren in Japan und China sowie zu Tourneen mit Soilwork führte! Rise To Fall, die 2022 bei Noble Demon und Massive Music Booking Agency unter Vertrag genommen wurden, bereiten sich derzeit auf die Veröffentlichung des mit Spannung erwarteten fünften Studioalbums "The Fifth Dimension" vor, das am 9. Unlike Julie's debut "Flowers and Candles", which she released alone at the age of 15, this album now involved more than a dozen musicians, including a string quartet and a brass section. Nevertheless, Julie still penned all the songs. The elaborate production of the album was made possible by the Frankfurt label Jazz Montez Records and thanks to a generous grant from Initiative Musik. For the first time in the history of this artist funding program by the German government, the application of a musician under the age of 18 was successful.

The formidable Rex The Dog returns with his first single for Kompakt in three years, “Change This Pain For Ecstasy”, a slow-burning disco-glitter stomp that’s charged with analog energy. Pushing his self-built modular hardware set-up to its limits, “Change This Pain For Ecstasy” is taut and thrilling, stripped-back and pulsating, with sweeping chords shimmering through a classic Moroder arpeggio, as a delirious voice sings out a psychedelic raver’s plaint for liberation, pleading for you to "take away my sorrow and this pain”. Deeply emotional, it’s also a masterwork in tension and release, dizzy with snare-rush peaks, and dark, humid valleys where Rex is bound to the patchbay.

On the flipside, Rex gives us “Moto”, which tickles your ear with cymatic phenomena, its gentle vibrations building, beautifully, into a monster-piece of stealth techno. Rex’s DIY synths work overtime as he chases patterns and phases through circuitry, wielding the tones until they erupt into a spray of pointillist pizzicato. The sounds here crackle and corrode, the textures so tantalizing, so sensual, you can almost grab hold of them with your hands. It’s great to have Rex The Dog back, making livewire, yet deeply human techno, alive and bursting with electricity.

Auf der anderen Seite gibt Rex uns “Moto”, das das Ohr mit zymatischen Phänomenen kitzelt, deren sanften Vibrationen sich zu einem Monster von Stealth-Technotrack aufbauen. Die mit dem Mercury-Preis ausgezeichnete britische Rapperin Speech Debelle meldet sich mit einem neuen Album zurück. "Sunday Dinner On A Monday" ist eine Studie über Familie, Freunde, Abstammung und die DNA der Vorfahren durch den Blick des Afro-Futurismus. "Es geht darum, wie wir uns unsere eigene Zukunft vorstellen und dann erschaffen", sagt Speech. "Das Album handelt von unserer Reise durch das Leben, auf der wir aus Erfahrungen lernen, die unsere Sinne erweitern. Wir lernen inneres Management und kommen der Leichtigkeit näher. Manche von uns werden sogar genährt, wie von einer guten Mahlzeit. Darum geht's auf diesem Album. Corynne Elliot (geboren am 17. März 1983 in London, England), besser bekannt als Speech Debelle, ist britische Rapperin, die bei dem Plattenlabel Big Dada unter Vertrag steht. Für ihr Debütalbum Speech Therapy wurde sie 2009 mit dem Mercury Prize ausgezeichnet. Am 9. Juni 2023 wird Capitane Records Adam Greens "Friends of Mine" anlässlich des 20-jährigen Jubiläums des Albums neu auflegen. Für Fans von Green und seiner Band The Moldy Peaches mag es schwer zu glauben sein, dass es schon zwanzig Jahre her ist, dass in den frühen 2000er Jahren eine neue Generation von Künstlern, Interpreten und Songwritern die Indie-Rock-Welt in Flammen setzte. Innerhalb von gefühlt nur wenigen Monaten versorgten Bands wie The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Libertines und The Moldy Peaches das Indie-Publikum mit neuen Versionen und Interpretationen des Rock'n'Roll-Kanons, Mit Einflüssen, die sowohl Standards wie The Velvet Underground, Television, The Stones, The Doors, The Stooges, Leonard Cohen, The Modern Lovers und Bob Dylan als auch neuere Künstler wie Beck, Daniel Johnston, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Will Oldham, Pavement und The Silver Jews umfassten. Songs wie "Jessica" oder das Titelstück wurden zu Hymnen für eine neue Generation junger Indie-Rock-Fans in Europa, in Deutschland wurde Adam Green besonders gefeiert, von Indiekids, der Musikkritik, im Feuilleton und auch fast sogar in der Klatschpresse. Capitane ist stolz darauf, Friends of Mine nun als Doppel-LP bzw. 2CD und limitiert erstmals als farbige Einzel-LP wieder zu veröffentlichen. Die Deluxe-Edition enthält auf einer zweiten Disc Outtakes, B-Seiten und Live-Versionen und Linernotes zu den Songs von Green, die neue Einblicke in seine oft kryptische lyrische Methodik sowie Anekdoten aus der Entstehungszeit der Songs bieten. Ebenfalls gibt es Auszüge aus einem Gespräch zwischen Green und Dan Myers (Produzent), Steven Mertens (Bassist), Matt Ramono (Schlagzeuger) und Larissa Brown (Zeit). Die fünf alten Freunde tauchen tief in die Produktion von Friends of Mine ein und tauschen Geschichten über die vergangene Zeit aus. Am 9. Juni 2023 wird Capitane Records Adam Greens "Friends of Mine" anlässlich des 20-jährigen Jubiläums des Albums neu auflegen. Für Fans von Green und seiner Band The Moldy Peaches mag es schwer zu glauben sein, dass es schon zwanzig Jahre her ist, dass in den frühen 2000er Jahren eine neue Generation von Künstlern, Interpreten und Songwritern die Indie-Rock-Welt in Flammen setzte. Innerhalb von gefühlt nur wenigen Monaten versorgten Bands wie The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Libertines und The Moldy Peaches das Indie-Publikum mit neuen Versionen und Interpretationen des Rock'n'Roll-Kanons, Mit Einflüssen, die sowohl Standards wie The Velvet Underground, Television, The Stones, The Doors, The Stooges, Leonard Cohen, The Modern Lovers und Bob Dylan als auch neuere Künstler wie Beck, Daniel Johnston, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Will Oldham, Pavement und The Silver Jews umfassten. Die Ergebnisse variierten zwischen geradlinigem Rock'n'Roll und Punk mit einem vom Folk inspirierten Songwriting-Bewusstsein. Vorbei waren die zerrissenen Jeans und Flanellhemden von einst. Enge Hosen und Lederjacken regierten den Tag...und die Nacht. Nach erstem Solo-Album und dem Erfolg seiner Band The Moldy Peaches (die 2001 zusammen mit The Strokes bei Rough Trade Records unterschrieben und anschließend mit ihnen auf Tournee gingen) schrieb und nahm Adam Green Friends of Mine auf, das bahnbrechende Album, das eine neue Richtung in seiner Karriere einschlagen sollte. In Abkehr von den selbst aufgenommenen 8-Spur-Analogaufnahmen seiner früheren Alben wandte sich Green einem Sound zu, der zu dieser Zeit eindeutig als Hi-Fidelity-Sound bezeichnet werden konnte, komplett mit Band und einer Streichergruppe (mit Arrangements von Jane Scarpantoni). Friends of Mine orientierte sich an den Werken von Serge Gainsbourg, Scott Walker und Frank Sinatra, während der lyrische Inhalt wie von der symbolistischen Poesie und dem Surrealismus von Brecht und Dylan abgeleitet schien. Das Ergebnis war etwas völlig Neues, eine Platte, die sowohl rührend traurig als auch sardonisch, satirisch, lässig und sogar laut lachend komisch sein konnte. Songs wie "Jessica" oder das Titelstück wurden zu Hymnen für eine neue Generation junger Indie-Rock-Fans in Europa, in Deutschland wurde Adam Green besonders gefeiert, von Indiekids, der Musikkritik, im Feuilleton und auch fast sogar in der Klatschpresse. Capitane ist stolz darauf, Friends of Mine nun als Doppel-LP bzw. 2CD und limitiert erstmals als farbige Einzel-LP wieder zu veröffentlichen. Die Deluxe-Edition enthält auf einer zweiten Disc Outtakes, B-Seiten und Live-Versionen und Linernotes zu den Songs von Green, die neue Einblicke in seine oft kryptische lyrische Methodik sowie Anekdoten aus der Entstehungszeit der Songs bieten. Ebenfalls gibt es Auszüge aus einem Gespräch zwischen Green und Dan Myers (Produzent), Steven Mertens (Bassist), Matt Ramono (Schlagzeuger) und Larissa Brown (Zeit). Die fünf alten Freunde tauchen tief in die Produktion von Friends of Mine ein und tauschen Geschichten über die vergangene Zeit aus. Die 2023er-Ausgabe von Friends of Mine ist ein Fenster zu einem wesentlichen Teil unserer jüngsten Vergangenheit und ein Zeugnis für einen Künstler, der den Test der Zeit bestanden hat. Gacha Bakradze releases his third album on Lapsus entitled "Pancakes", and while the name may appear conventional at first glance, it actually contains esoteric philosophical concepts.

The Georgian producer perceives the making of pancakes -a transformative and healing parental activity that he loves to partake in with his son- as a metaphor for alteration, metamorphosis and change. A reflection that also accentuates the importance of balance during each process of preparing a simple recipe, which in turn highlights key human attributes such as patience, attention to detail and willingness to adapt to shifting circumstances.

On a sonic level, Gacha’s new album embodies precisely that: the contextual reworking of his music, while maintaining the essence of his previous work. "Pancakes" provides the typically melancholic yet vibrant genetics already recognisable in his music, but also embraces new genres, including his unique and personal take on hyper-pop and trance. It is an album of contrasting elements, where bucolic interludes make way for heavier tracks that are more suited to a club environment, an aural universe that hybridises IDM, electro, bass music and cutting edge techno, and once again demonstrates that trying to pigeonhole Gacha Bakradze's sound is a somewhat fruitless task.

‘Deep Blue Dreams’ ist das Debütalbum des in Berlin lebenden, 26jährigen Musikers, Sängers und Produzenten Lucas Herweg alias LLUCID. Inspiriert von Vorbildern wie Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Frank Ocean oder Ty Dolla $ign, lässt LLUCID jegliche Grenzen zwischen Rap und R&B konsequent verwischen. Die 12 Songs stehen fernab aller Stil- und Genreschubladen und liefern Banger zwischen Rap und Trap, sanfte Soundwellen mit exquisiten Beats und traurigem Autotune, hymnisch-sakralen Hip-Hop und ein ungewöhnliches Duo mit der britischen Sängerin Kimbra, die mit ‘A Reckoning‘ bereits eines der Alben des Jahres veröffentlichte. Nach Kollaborationen mit Samy Deluxe, Hundreds und Wallis Bird und der ersten 6-Track-EP ‘Getting In Touch’ im Frühjahr 2022 auf Grönland pusht LLUCID jetzt konsequent sein Solowerk.

Man sagt, dass je mehr sich die Dinge ändern, desto mehr bleiben sie gleich. Wenn es eine Sache gibt, die stabil geblieben ist, obwohl wir im Jahr 2023 leben, dann ist es, dass wir schwedischen Death Metal lieben. Dieser Stil hat sich in den letzten 35 Jahren zu einem unsererFavoriten entwickelt.
Irgendetwas am Gitarrensound macht einfach Lust, jede Veröffentlichung zu verschlingen, die als "inspiriert von frühen Entombed und Dismember" beschrieben werden kann. Das Gute daran ist, dass es eine unglaubliche Fülle von Bands gibt, die aus dieser Quelle schöpfen. Das Schlechte ist, dass dieser Reichtum dazu führt, dass viele Bands nicht mehr zu unterscheiden sind, weil sie sich so sehr ähneln.

Glücklicherweise gelingt es lmperishable mit "Come, Sweet Death", aus der Masse herauszustechen, was nicht zuletzt daran liegt, dass sie sich von den üblichen Merkmalen des Genres lösen. Und in gewisser Weise ist das keine Überraschung, denn die Bandmitglieder waren oder sind an Vampire, Portrait, Nominon und Dr. Living Dead beteiligt! Wie Sie vielleicht schon gemerkt haben, hat die Band vieleEinflüsse aus der Stockholmer Szene, insbesondere von Dismember, was nicht zu leugnen ist
