Blues Deluxe is the third studio album by Joe Bonamassa and originally released on August 26, 2003. Recorded at Unique Recording Studios in New York City, it was produced by Bob Held and features nine cover versions of songs by classic blues artists, such as BB King, Jeff Beck, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, Elmore James and more. The album is completed with three original tracks, including the fan favorite Woke Up Dreaming.

The 1990 debut album from Pale Saints, The Comforts of Madness, is an outstanding record that owed as much to post-punk and L.A."s Paisley Underground scene than it did to shoegaze. The Sunday Times called it "an unintended indie manifesto: music that is at once wayward and concise, dissonant and beautiful." Shortly after its release and in need of a second live guitarist, Lush founding member Meriel Barham joined the Leeds trio of Ian Masters, Graeme Naysmith and Chris Cooper, bringing a new dynamic to the band. Having previously worked well with producer Hugh Jones (Echo & The Bunnyman, Modern English, The Sound), he did a brilliant job recording their second album, In Ribbons (1992), despite some studio tensions. Brooklyn Vegan said in a recent celebration of the album that it was the "push and pull between Masters" outsider tendencies and (the rest"s) commercial interests that makes In Ribbons so good. Recorded in a host of living rooms with only a Fender Rhodes piano, a Donca Matic Mini Pops drum machine, and Senrick's wide-eyed, 20-year-old voice, the 1977 LP disappeared into the wild and joined the Wendigo in Minnesota lore. A provocative mix of marina soul, easy listening, and loner folk, Dreamin' is a sanguine sliver of the American private mind garden. Harsh winters coupled with a relative lack of interest amongst siblings allowed Chuck Senrick years of unfettered access to the family piano in their Farmington, Minnesota, home. Learning both by ear and by instruction, Senrick began gigging professionally at age 15, joining John Zimmer and the CR4 for a weekly rundown of Allman Brothers, Blind Faith, and Cream covers at the Sea Girt Inn in Lake Orchard. Tapping into James Taylor's pop-chart achievements in songwriting and enunciation, Senrick composed the bulk of the songs featured on Dreamin' before graduating from Farmington High School. At 20, Senrick migrated 30 miles north to the Twin Cities to pursue music full-time. Using borrowed equipment and borrowed living rooms, a string of informal recording sessions generated the quarter-inch tape for Dreamin'. "I didn't know how to do it," Senrick says about producing an album. "I just knew it could be done." Constructed with vocals, Fender Rhodes, and an assortment of rhythm presets on his Donca Matic Mini Pops drum machine, a mere 200 copies of the private-press masterpiece were stamped and sleeved and sold hand-to-hand at performances. Chuck's wife Lesli illustrated the album cover_a pen-to-paper portrait of her husband against the backdrop of the Minneapolis Skyline, she and their newborn son situated on a nearby knoll. Any plans for a re-press were quashed when producer Bruce W. Hansen lost the reels during a messy divorce. "I was a kid with big ideas and not much hope to do anything but play," Senrick said of the Dreamin' era. "It still amazes me that people are interested in it."

KISH KASH is the third album from British electronic dance producers Felix Buxton & Simon Ratcliffe, better known as BASEMENT JAXX. The album features an array of stellar guest vocalists including punk icon Siouxsie Sioux on the title track, London grime superstar Dizzee Rascal on "Lucky Star", the mighty pipes of Rock n" Soul diva Lisa Kekaula (of LA"s "The Bellrays" ) on "Good Luck" and rounds off with the mellow tones of Meshell Ndegeocello. A defining album of the 90s, Last Splash by The Breeders turns 30 this year. To celebrate, the band have returned to the original tapes to give it its first-ever remaster, and by doing so have also unearthed two lost tracks that will delight fans. Recorded by the "classic" Breeders line-up of Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson and featuring singles "Cannonball" and "Divine Hammer", Last Splash was "an alt-rock classic" (Pitchfork"s Top 100 Records of 1990s) on release; a fast seller too, quickly attaining Platinum status in the US. Despite having had the boxset treatment on its 20th birthday, the album was still left to be remastered so 10 years on, the original y" tapes were taken out of the archives and have been lovingly worked on by Kim Deal, Benjamin Mumphrey and Miles Showell (Abbey Road). Never sounding so good, the album for its 30th anniversary, it"s getting the ultimate vinyl pressing. Entitled Last Splash (the 30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition), this new version has been cut at half speed at Abbey Road by Miles Showell, now spanning two LPs and running at 45rpm. A Japanese cd edition will also be available. This edition contains an exclusive, one-sided etched 12" which features two previously unreleased tracks - "Go Man Go" and "Divine Mascis" ("Go Man Go" is a track that Kim co-wrote with Black Francis while "Divine Mascis" is a different version of "Divine Hammer" with Dinosaur Jr."s J Mascis on lead vocals). Both tracks originate from the original sessions and were left forgotten until the sessions were exhumed to create this new master. The attention to detail continues to the album"s art, which equally celebrates Vaughan Oliver"s iconic sleeve. With Vaughan sadly no longer with us, his long-time design partner Chris Bigg has gloriously reimagined the album"s sleeve for this new version.

"Friendly Fires" was the debut album from the St Albans-three piece, Ed McFarlane, Edd Gibson and Jack Savidge. Featuring hit singles "Jump In the Pool" and "Paris", it was an era-defining record. The collection opens with ‘Street Dance’ by Bonnie Jean, a little-known must-have for collectors of the genre, with Darlene Love and the Blossoms clearly audible on background vocals. Issued on Lew Bedell’s Doré label, this exciting faux-live deck in the style of Shirley Ellis’ ‘The Nitty Gritty’ was written by Guy Hemric and Jerry Styner, a hip team known for supplying songs for the soundtracks of B movies such as Muscle Beach Party and Thunder Alley.

• The Hollywood-based Doré imprint is also the source of ‘You Really Never Know Till It’s Over’ by the Vel-Vetts (which shares a backing track with the Superbs’ ‘I Was Born When You Kissed Me’), ‘One Way Street’ by the Swans, a soulful update of the Teddy Bears’ ‘To Know Him Is To Love Him’ by the Darlings and – featuring lead vocals by Sheilah Page, a former member of groups such as the Bermudas, Becky & the Lollipops, the Majorettes, Joanne & the Triangles and Beverly & the Motor Scooters – ‘He’s Groovy’ by the Front Page & Her.

• Other highlights include the Sweethearts’ Supremes-influenced ‘No More Tears’, the sophisticated slowie ‘Lonely Girl’ by the Lovettes (that’s them on the front sleeve), ‘My Heart Tells Me So’ by the Del-Phis (an early incarnation of Martha & the Vandellas) and the Fran-Cettes’ terrific recording of ‘Heart For Sale’. Einige Monate später, nachdem er mehrere Online-Wohltätigkeitsshows zur Unterstützung der Ukraine gespielt hatte, kam er zunächst für einen Soloauftritt zurück und war damit der erste ausländische Künstler, der seit Beginn des Krieges ein komplettes Konzert auf ukrainischem Boden absolvierte. Dieser Auftritt im Juli 2022 wurde genutzt, um Spenden für eine Flüchtlingsunterkunft in Lwiw zu sammeln. Auf den Tag genau ein Jahr nach Reuters letztem Auftritt in Kyiv, löste er dann sein Versprechen ein und spielte zum ersten Jahrestag des Kriegsbeginns zwei mittlerweile geschichtsträchtige Full-Band-Shows mit ROME in Lwiw und Kyiw.

Februar 2022, der ersten Stunde des Einmarsches - und führt mit minutiös geschliffenen Kleinoden fast chronologisch durch das erste Kriegsjahr. Auf "Gates of Europe" werden traditionelles Songwriter-Handwerk mit raffinierter Poesie und ungewöhnlichen Arrangements zu einem Gesamtkunstwerk verschmolzen. Die 14 Lieder sind packende Momentaufnahmen der inneren Befindlichkeit des Landes, das sich dem Sturm wider Erwarten entschlossen entgegenstellt. Und so ist "Gates of Europe" vor allem eines: Bekenntnis zu einem freien Europa aus der Feder eines Mannes, der mit tausend Fäden an vergangene Jahrhunderte gespannt zu sein scheint und doch in seinem Werk die zeitlose Zeit anvisiert.

Der in Texas aufgewachsene Singer-Songwriter und Big Thief-Gitarrist Buck Meek kündigt sein neues Album "Haunted Mountain" für den 25. August an. Seine erste Solo-Veröffentlichung bei 4AD folgt auf das 2021er Album "Two Saviors" und handelt von der Liebe...und etwas anderem. Etwas Größerem, etwas, dass Liebe nicht wirklich herausfordert, eher im direkten Kontrast dazu steht. Eine völlige Erfüllung der Seele. Meek gesteht ein, dass Liebeslieder für ihn die am schwersten zu schreibenden sind. Vielleicht holte sich Meek auch deshalb beim Schreiben Verstärkung in Form der Freundin und langjährigen Heldin Jolie Holland, die bei fünf von elf Songs des Albums Co-Autoren-Credits hat. Die ersten zwei Verse und der Chorus von "Haunted Mountain" stammen von der Texanerin, die diese als Liebeslied für Mount Shasta in Nord-Kalifornien geschrieben hat. Meek fügte den finalen Vers hinzu, in der gemeinsamen Suche nach dem Austausch mit der Natur. "It"s about being humbled by the thing you"re drawing power from only at which point an actual, fair relationship begins", erklärt er. Seit seinem selbstbetitelten Solo-Debüt sind Meeks Band-Kollegen die gleichen: Adam Brisbin (Gitarre), Austin Vaughn (Schlagzeug) und Mat Davidson (Pedel Steel, Bass). Für "Haunted Mountain" stießen noch Ken Woodward (Bass) und Meeks Bruder Dylan (Klavier, Synths) zu diesem eingeschworenen Haufen dazu. Davidson übernahm die Produktion, während Adrian Olsen, der auch die Sound Manipulation mit einem Modular Synthesizer übernahm, das Album innerhalb von zwei Wochen mixte. Der Ansatz war ein hi-fi-Album als Gegensatz zum lo-fi-Ansatz des Vorgängers zu erschaffen, während die Intimität erhalten bleiben sollte. Meek glaubt selbst daran, dass alle großen Liebeslieder noch nicht geschrieben wurden. Zwischen den Zeilen von "Haunted Mountain" hört man, dass Liebe in jeglicher Form die Erschaffung eines Zuhauses ist, von innen - für immer auf der Suche nach dem anderen.

The reissue serves as the latest entry in Matador Records" Revisionist History series, our ongoing campaign to jog the record-buying (and streaming!) public"s memory about our many catalog items now poised to celebrate a significant anniversary. SOMNURI hält sich nicht an der Oberfläche fest. Der Heavy Metal der Band stapft von Genre zu Genre mit der Inbrunst und dem Selbstvertrauen einer Band, die bereit ist, die Schwellen zu allem Wahrnehmbaren und Möglichen zu überschreiten. Die Band, bestehend aus Lead-Gitarrist und Sänger Justin Sherrell, Schlagzeuger Phil SanGiancomo und Bassist Mike G, hat sich die Aufmerksamkeit von Magazinen wie Revolver Magazine, BrooklynVegan, MetalSucks, MetalHammer und anderen verdient und ihr neuestes Werk ist ein wahrer Beweis für die unersättliche Arbeitsmoral der Band, die sie als einen der aufregendsten aufstrebenden Acts des Heavy Metal zementiert.

Aufgenommen in den Gojira Silver Cord Studios, abgemischt von Justin Mantooth in den Westend Studios und gemastert von Brad Boatright bei Audiosiege Mastering, bewegt sich die Band auf „Desiderium“ nahtlos durch eine Vielzahl von Tempi und Klängen und gibt einigen ausgetretenen Pfaden neue Wege vor. Songs wie „Paramnesia“ kommen wie eine schlammige Abrissbirne daher und erinnern in ihren stärksten Momenten an Eyehategod und Crowbar. Anstelle von Moshparts zieht sich die Band zurück und lässt Sherrell ein paar cleane Vocals einstreuen, bevor sie wieder voll angreift. Sherrells Stimme ist wahnsinnig vielseitig und kann sowohl gefühlvolle cleane Vocals als auch grimmige Schreie liefern. Sie ist der perfekte Kontrast zu den Instrumenten der Band, die ein Band zwischen Sludge, Grunge, Psych-Rock und mehr weben.
