Toronto’s Lammping is a project built on the idea that music can exist across timelines. Founded by Mikhail Galkin and Jay Anderson, the band’s sound draws equally from heavy psych rock, hip-hop, classic songwriting, and experimental collage, creating records that feel both familiar and impossible to place within a single era or genre.

Their latest album, So What, What?, is the clearest expression of that approach. Long before streaming services, podcasts, or even the compact disc, there was Tellus—a radically ambitious publication that imagined recorded sound as an exhibition space. Founded in 1983 in downtown New York, Tellus transformed the humble audio cassette into a magazine, commissioning and publishing new works by musicians, composers, visual artists, poets, writers, choreographers, and performers who were reshaping the boundaries of contemporary art. Each issue invited listeners into a world where no wave, industrial music, spoken word, Fluxus performance, electroacoustic composition, downtown pop, conceptual art, and avant-garde experimentation could coexist on equal footing. More than forty years later, Earth Libraries proudly presents TELLUS: The Audio Cassette Magazine Anthology Vol. 1, the first comprehensive anthology devoted to the groundbreaking publication. The story of Tellus begins, fittingly, at the Rum Runner Bar on Canal Street. There, in 1983, visual artist Joseph Nechvatal, curator Claudia Gould, and composer Carol Parkinson conceived an entirely new kind of publication. Portable cassette players were transforming how people experienced music, and the trio saw an opportunity to use the cassette itself as a curatorial medium—one capable of circulating work that traditional record labels, galleries, and magazines simply couldn't accommodate. Following her previous appearances on Blueprint, Manchester-based techno artist Kerrie returns to the label with her latest release, "Pressure Signal". The four-track EP sees Kerrie deliver another focused collection of raw, uncompromising techno, continuing her distinct approach to dark, gritty, metallic and industrial sounds.

Kerrie is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans live performance, production, DJing and running her own label, Dark Machine Funk. Volume 2: Unreleased Jack opens the vault for the first time, presenting previously unheard material from the formative mid-’80s period. These recordings reveal the experimental edge of a young innovator pushing the limits of emerging technology and redefining what club music could be.

U//D welcomes Swedish maestro Arkajo to the label with Fourier Dust, a four-track EP built for deep dancefloors. Across the record, Arkajo moves through breakbeat techno, dark 2-step, broken techno and dubstep, with close friend and Naarm/Melbourne stalwart Pugilist rounding things out with a remix of “Chasm”.

A1, “Fourier Dust”, opens the record with a breaky techno groove driven by a ferocious acid bassline, razor-sharp percussion and deeply atmospheric pads. Tough, spacious and hypnotic, it sets the tone for the EP perfectly.

A2, “Illusion”, shifts into darker 2-step garage territory. Wobbling bass, submerged vocals and rolling percussion build throughout, with bongos keeping the groove moving as the track gets progressively deeper. There are clear echoes of the darker UK garage lineage of SP:MC and EL-B.

Flipping to the B-side, “Chasm” moves into techno-bass territory, pairing a wonky 4x4 groove with hypnotic, heavily dubbed vocals. The result feels both spacious and eerie, balancing club pressure with a distinctly psychedelic edge.

Closing the EP, Pugilist’s remix of “Chasm” takes things in a dubstep-leaning 2-step direction. Heavy rolling sub, signature dub stabs, swung percussion and the occasional wub give the remix serious weight — one designed to be felt properly on a big system.

Limen brings together two artists whose musical paths converge around a shared sensitivity to listening, resonance, and the evocative power of sound.
Recorded at Ritmo e Blu Studio during a five-day residency between spring and summer 2025, the album emerged from a series of spontaneous encounters free from predetermined structures. The pieces preserve their original form, retaining the immediacy and temporal flow of the dialogues as they first unfolded.
Subsequent interventions were conceived not as revisions, but as an exploration of the open spaces already present within the recordings—deepening what remained unspoken and extending resonances without altering the music's natural evolution.
The title, derived from the Latin word for “threshold,” reflects the nature of the project itself: a place of passage between improvisation and composition, silence and vibration, memory and imagination. Limen inhabits a suspended territory where listening becomes an experience of openness, presence, and transformation.

Lino Capra Vaccina
Lino Capra Vaccina is one of the most distinctive voices in Italian experimental music. A percussionist, composer, and pioneer of minimalist and meditative sound practices, he first emerged in the early 1970s as a founding member of the influential group Aktuala, whose visionary fusion of ancient traditions, improvisation, and contemporary research anticipated what would later become known as world music.
Over a career spanning more than five decades, Vaccina has cultivated a unique artistic language centred on vibration, resonance, and the transformative power of sound. His landmark 1978 album Antico Adagio remains a touchstone of European minimalism, while his collaborations have included figures such as Franco Battiato, Juri Camisasca, Markus Stockhausen, Keith Tippett, Paolo Tofani, and many others.
Whether working with percussion, piano, electronics, or voice, Vaccina's music seeks a state of suspension and contemplation. His compositions unfold as immersive sonic environments whereancient echoes and contemporary sensibilities meet, inviting listeners into an experience that is at once intimate, spiritual, and timeless.

Luca Formentini
Luca Formentini is an Italian composer, sound artist, and improviser whose work unfolds at the intersection of experimentation, atmosphere, and deep listening. Active since the late 1990s, he has developed a highly personal language in which guitar, voice, field recordings, and electroacoustic processes become tools for exploring memory, perception, and the expressive potential of sound itself.
His music resists easy categorization, moving freely between ambient, contemporary composition, improvisation, and sound art. Throughout his career he has released numerous solo works and collaborated with a wide range of internationally acclaimed musicians, including Holger Czukay, Robert Rich, Markus Stockhausen, Steve Jansen, Theo Travis and Steve Lawson.His recordings have appeared on labels across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the United States.
Rooted in a practice of attentive listening and sonic exploration, Formentini creates evocative musical landscapes that invite reflection rather than certainty, opening spaces where silence, texture, and resonance become as meaningful as melody itself.

Armed with a single nylon string guitar , a toy chest of rudimentary percussion, and the emotional microtones of the Spanish tongue, Alejandro Bravo’s lone LP blends bossanova, samba, and the Brill Building into a horny margarita for the tourist class. Recorded at home in Acapulco in 1971, Bravo’s self-released LP slaps and thrills with its taps and trills. Pair with a pregnancy test for best results.

This album is thirty years old; it was the first release in the Tricatel catalog. We expected to sell more copies back then (only 30,000 copies upon its release, which would be fantastic by today's standards), but we've never stopped reissuing it, and it has also found an audience in Japan as well as in the United States, where it was also pressed. We're celebrating this anniversary with an exclusive edition-and, for the first time on vinyl, the original cover art as well as Valérie's cover of a song by Mireille and Jean Nohain.

"Thank Goodness brings together an overdubbed ‘chamber band’ of bass guitar, viola, piano, harpsichord, voice and drums. Made on my own in London and Ireland between 2023-26 as a slow channelling inward of a lot of social energy.”

Seán Being is a committed figure at the sharp edges of Irish music, including being the key instigator of the band Princ€ss, touring bass player with Maria Somerville, and a long-time affiliate of Dublin label wherethetimegoes. Their various collaborations include contributions to live and recorded projects with the likes of Spellcaster, Nashpaints, Florian TM Zeizig, Jennifer Moore, Olan Monk, Dylan Kerr, Asa Nisi Masa, Life is Beautiful, Polido, Adriana João and Usof.
Not always in the business of ‘popular music’, Seán also has Gregorian Chant and car horn performances in their repertoire.

Aspects of all of this activity have made their way, directly or otherwise, into this first full-length album.

On this 5th and final part of B sides Vol 14 we have The fantastic Kaufmann who shares her ‘People are Strange’, a nod to a classic vox, re-contextualised for a modern techno audience.

Long-time industry stalwart AdamK, who makes a richly deserved Drumcode debut in partnership with Vikthor feat. MC Stretch on the stunning ‘Silence + The Sound’.

Four more classics from the Black Vinyl archives to mark the label’s thirtieth anniversary. ‘Especiale’ by Fresh & Low is a timeless Latin-spiced bubbler that always moves a floor. ‘We Can’ by Kerri Chandler is a rare gem from the main man himself. ‘Spirit’ by Brent Laurence got smashed out of the park with this firing David Harness remix in 2022 and the set concludes with the brilliant Scott Wozniak remix of King DK’s vocal gem, ‘Can’t Read Your Mind’.

,Settle Down City" war 2006 das Debütalbum von Young Widows und markierte den Neubeginn der Musiker nach dem Ende der Hardcore-Band Breather Resist. Die Gruppe aus Louisville entwickelte darauf ihren charakteristischen Stil aus Post-Hardcore, Noise Rock und düsterem Post-Punk, geprägt von schweren, basslastigen Grooves, kantigen Gitarren und einer intensiven, oft beklemmenden Atmosphäre. Einflüsse von Bands wie Fugazi, Hoover, The Jesus Lizard und den Melvins sind deutlich hörbar, werden jedoch zu einem eigenständigen Sound verarbeitet. Im Zentrum stehen das kreative Gitarrenspiel von Sänger Evan Patterson sowie das kraftvolle Zusammenspiel der Rhythmussektion mit Nick Thieneman und dem damaligen Schlagzeuger Geoff Paton. Die Songs verbinden rohe Energie mit ungewöhnlichen Songstrukturen und legten den Grundstein für die spätere Entwicklung der Band zu einer der wichtigsten Noise-Rock-Formationen ihrer Generation. Zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum erscheint ,Settle Down City - Anniversary Edition" in einer umfassend überarbeiteten Fassung. Das Album wurde von James Plotkin neu remastert, mit restauriertem Original-Artwork versehen und um den bislang unveröffentlichten Bonus-Track ,White Water" erweitert, der bereits während der ursprünglichen Aufnahmesessions entstand. Die limitierte Neuauflage auf opak-gelbem Vinyl bietet damit die definitive Version eines Albums, das den Beginn der inzwischen zwei Jahrzehnte andauernden Karriere von Young Widows dokumentiert.

,Noah's Ark" ist das zweite Album von CocoRosie, dem Schwestern-Duo Bianca und Sierra Casady. Nach ihrem Debüt ,La Maison de Mon Rêve" entstand das Album während zahlreicher Reisen und Aufnahmen an unterschiedlichsten Orten, von Frankreich über Brooklyn bis Paris. Die Songs verbinden experimentellen Folk, verspielte Klangcollagen und intime Geschichten mit Beiträgen von Freunden und Gästen wie Antony Hegarty sowie dem französischen MC Spleen. ,Every Martyr Is A Universe" ist das Constellation-Debüt des palästinensisch-kanadischen Gitarristen, Komponisten und Community-Organisators Bilal Nasser. Das Album entstand während der studentischen Protestbewegungen gegen den Krieg in Gaza und setzt sich mit der Frage auseinander, welche Bedeutung Kunst in Zeiten von Gewalt, Verlust und politischer Krise haben kann. Daraus entwickelt Nasser eine musikalische Reflexion über Trauer, Solidarität, Erinnerung und Widerstand. Bekannt für seine Verbindung von klassischer Gitarre, Folk-Traditionen und zeitgenössischen Einflüssen erweitert Nasser auf diesem Album seinen bisherigen Solosound erstmals um ein größeres Ensemble. Gemeinsam mit neun Musikerinnen und Musikern aus seinem kreativen Umfeld in Windsor, Ontario, schuf er vielschichtige Arrangements für Streicher, Bläser, Elektronik und Gitarren, die dem Album eine orchestrale und zugleich intime Atmosphäre verleihen. In alten Zeiten, wenn sich Nebel um ein Schiff legte, war der einzige Weg nach vorne, langsamer zu werden und zuzuhören. Vögel, brechende Wellen, Schiffsklokken, Gongs und Hörner wurden zur neuen Sprache der Navigation, neben Tiefensondierungen, die den Meeresboden mit einer Bleileine abtasteten und seine verborgenen Formen enthüllten. Die Technik hat diese Methoden zwar weitgehend überflüssig gemacht, aber es hat immer noch etwas Faszinierendes, wenn man das Sehen gegen Hören und Fühlen eintauscht. Dieser Wandel steht im Mittelpunkt von AEAEA dem neuen Duo aus Patrick Higgins & Nicolas Jaar und ihrem Debütalbum Mist", einem Album, das fragt: Wie findest du dich zurecht, wenn die Welt um dich herum verschwimmt? Die Anfänge des Duos reichen zurück bis zum Le Guess Who?-Festival 2019, bei dem Higgins als Künstlerkurator fungierte. Benannt nach dem nebligen, mythischen Land der Eichen- und Buchenwälder, wurden die Insel und die sie umgebenden Geschichten zu einer Inspirationsquelle für beide Musiker, die schon lange eine Mischung aus altertümlicher Harmonie und elektronischem Experimentieren bevorzugen. Das Album entsteht aus der Erforschung einer neuen gemeinsamen Sprache durch das Duo, bei der Higgins' Gitarre und Percussion live durch Jaars Echtzeit- Effektketten geleitet werden, wodurch Sampling, Dubbing und Verarbeitung zu eigenständigen Musikinstrumenten werden. Aufgenommen über drei Jahre hinweg in Berlin und in Higgins' Studio im Bundesstaat New York, verwebt Mist" die neblige, intuitive Logik von Bearbeitungsketten und Improvisation in den Kern der Komposition. Die Platte entwickelt eine Reihe melodischer Themen, die aus Higgins' Gitarre hervorgehen und sich in ein Meer aus Elektronik, Percussion und schließlich einem volleren Ensemble aus Keyboards, Orgeln, Schlagzeug und den Cello-Improvisationen der Komponistin Judith Hamann brechen. Die Klanglandschaften von Mist" sind traurig und langsam, mit Tönen, die oft von einem blaugrauen Dunst umhüllt sind. Manchmal nehmen wir Strahlen fernen Lichts wahr, die die Unschärfe durchdringen, doch meist hören wir Echos ferner Ufer, deren Rhythmen es uns vielleicht endlich ermöglichen, ohne zu sehen zu sehen.

Originally recorded and released in 1970, the Joe Henderson Quintet, At The Lighthouse: If You're Not Part Of The Solution, You're Part Of The Problem sees the influential jazz fusion sax player performing at the legendary venue in Hermosa Beach, California. Joined by George Cables, Ron McClure, Woody Shaw, Tony Waters and Lenny White the original album contained 6 live cuts. This 180-gram 3-LP Deluxe Edition, adds 5 unreleased tracks along with new liner notes from author Eugene Holley Jr.

Initially recorded in 1996 and officially released February 1997, 2nd Family's Killaz from the Blackside tape is one of the most distinctive examples of unpolished, stripped-back & paranoid mid-90s Memphis rap. Recorded by King JC together with 2nd Family MCs Pistol Grip & Killa Chrome in a home-studio set up at the group's base in Southern Hills Apartments in Whitehaven, South Memphis (known locally as Blackhaven or the Blackside, a short trip from Graceland) the sparse, brooding and somewhat introspective production sets the record apart from the more raucous, overdriven precedent of the period. Pressed on vinyl for the first time via Death Is Not The End in an edition of 300 copies.
