With this release, I think I'll be the only one to have released something from every single one of Kenny's solo jungle aliases!

A few years back, he started on an album project where he would combine the works of 2 of his aliases for his Amiga productions, DJ Mindhunter for the hardcore tracks & Retr0n One of the jungle tracks.

If I remember right, I think the plan was to originally release it on his label Green Bay Wax, but he was too preoccupied in the work being put into other projects of his at the time. The release was then going to be coming out on Parallax Recordings, a label based in Berlin, run by Vali, who I've worked with many times in the past for releases on his label but then Vali was also focused on other releases he had scheduled for his label. The tracks sat in limbo for quite a while, whilst I had been playing some of them on radio & in club sets and eventually, Kenny offered for me to release the tracks on Future Retro London.

I asked Vali if he would be OK with this, since the tracks are meant to come out on Parallax & I also wanted him to do the artwork for it (he does all the artwork for his label). He was unsure if he could do the artwork as his capacity for design was quite taken up by his own outlet, but he floated the idea of doing this release as a joint label project so that it would be a bit more able to fit in with his workload.

And like that, the project is now finally out, after some of the featured tracks having been sat around for many years! Big up to Kenny for his wicked tunes & to Vali for co-releasing this project with me, as well as handling the design.

Tim Hutton and Thomas Melchior formed Vulva in 1993 in England. The experimental techno duo signed with the Rephlex label (home of Aphex Twin) and released From the Cockpit in 1993. Vulva's first domestic release was the Mini Space Vulvette EP, for Reflective Records. After a side project for the German Source label called Yoni ("Yoni" and My Little Yoni), Hutton and Melchior released their second full-length for Rephlex, Birdwatch, in 1996. Vulvic Yonification followed in late 1997.

Lisbon-based duo Garoa—formed by Brazilian musicians Raphael Soares (drums, percussion) and Henrique Dias (piano, synthesizer, guitar, percussion)—craft an evocative soundscape that merges Afro-Brazilian rhythms with ambient textures. Their latest release, recorded in May 2024 at Estúdio Fetra, presents a free-flowing exploration where harmonies and rhythms unfold organically, avoiding rigid structures and embracing improvisation full time.

The album’s compositions are anchored by the interplay between Soares’ fluid percussion and Dias’ expansive harmonic approach. Tracks like “A Sandália Quadrada de Lampião” and “Xaxado de Chicago” weave percussive patterns reminiscent of Brazil’s Nordeste, blending them seamlessly with atmospheric synthesizers. “Baião de 2” and “Farofa e Cachaça” carry the unmistakable swing of Brazilian traditional forms, reinterpreted through Garoa’s lens of modernity and free flowing spontaneity.

Produced and mixed by Kellzo, the album captures the spirit of a collaboration that thrives on fluidity and openness. Garoa doesn’t aim for definitive statements; instead, they invite the listener into an evolving sonic landscape, where tradition and experimentation walk hand in hand.

,Kurayami", die neueste Single von Mei Semones, hat ein paar der mathematischsten Riffs und einen der bombastischsten musikalischen Höhepunkte ihrer bisherigen Karriere. Ein aufregender Track, der ein für Mei erfolgreiches Jahr abrundet. Mei über die neuen Songs: ",Kurayami" heißt auf Japanisch ,Dunkelheit" und handelt davon, wie es war, in Michigan aufzuwachsen und mit meinen Freunden abzuhängen. Kind sein war echt cool. Ich hatte echt viel Spaß und war glücklich, aber ich erinnere mich, dass es einen Punkt gab, an dem wir unsere Unschuld verloren haben, und ich denke, in diesem Song geht es um dieses Gefühl. Es ist einer der technisch anspruchsvolleren Songs, die ich geschrieben habe, und ich musste ziemlich viel üben, bis ich ihn singen und gleichzeitig spielen konnte. Es gibt viele coole Tempowechsel, ungerade Taktarten, Arpeggios mit großen Intervallen und schnelle Licks, und ich finde, dass auch das Bandarrangement echt kreativ ist. ,Get used to it" handelt von der Schönheit der Einsamkeit und des Alleinseins, davon, wie man etwas hinter sich lässt, das in deinem Leben wichtig war, aber dennoch Platz dafür lässt, und von meiner Liebe zur Gitarre und zur Musik. Es ist der zweite Song, den ich auf meiner Nylonsaitengitarre geschrieben habe, und die Wechsel und die Melodie sind etwas von Thelonious Monk inspiriert. Die Instrumentierung ist minimalistischer als bei unseren anderen Songs - nur ich (Gitarre & Gesang), Kontrabass und Schlagzeug. Wir wollten einen Live-Jazz-Trio-Sound hinbekommen, also gibt's keine Überlagerungen oder so. Es ist einfach eine direkte Aufnahme von uns dreien, wie wir den Song spielen, und ich finde, das war der beste Weg, um das Gefühl hinter dem Song einzufangen."

Some things are just too good to be hidden from view. That's certainly the case with Things To Think About, the first album from Dutch electronic music legend Steve Rachmad's lesser-known Sterac Electronics project.

Rachmad first rose to prominence in the late 1990s, spearheading a surge in Dutch techno that was heavily inspired by the futurist intent and machine soul of Detroit. Since then, he has continued to successfully explore a wide range of dancefloor-centric electronic styles under a dizzying array of aliases.

It's a while, though, since the public has been treated to a heavy dose of Sterac Electronics material. He first established the alias at the turn of the millennium, primarily as an outlet for hardware-driven electro music shot through with funk and soul.

A handful of highly regarded 12' singles were released on Music Man and Interpersonal XP, before Rachmad began focusing on other projects. When inspiration struck, he returned to the project, jamming out tracks using a mighty collection of vintage synthesizers and drum machines.

Recently, Rachmad and Tom Trago decided to revisit the Sterac Electronics archive, discovering a killer collection of cuts created at different points over the course of the last 15 years.

Now 9 of those spellbinding hardware jams have been gathered together for the first time on Things To Think About, a warm, rich and evocative collection of electro-fuelled workouts that giddily pay tribute to the music of Rachmad's youth.

From the thrusting, synth-driven machine funk of Original Pattern' and mutant electrofunk revivalism of Game Changers', to the baggy West Coast boogie of Metratron' and intergalactic hustle of Archetype' (which sounds like Cybotron covering the 1988 version of The KLF's What Time Is Love'), Things To Think About is an lesson in the emotion-rich, mood enhancing possibilities of spontaneous hardware jams.

The highlights don't stop there, either. Check, for example, the crystalline synthesizer melodies, body popping drum hits and spacey chords of Tuning Into Frequencies' and the breezy humidity of opener Altruistic Endeavor'.

Like the rest of the tracks on the album, they feel timeless, as if they could have been made at any point during the last three decades. From Steve Rachmad, we wouldn't expect anything less.

Things To Think About will be released as a limited-edition double album, preceded by a 12' single featuring another previously unheard gem from the vaults.

Bristol via NYC's DJ Nature makes house and beatdown so raw, dusty and dishevelled it feels like it's been put together in an old shed with rudimentary hand tools and might just collapse at any moment. But it is also brilliantly soulful and real, with synths infusing each loose arrangement with real heat and the drum patterns connecting deeply. Across four cuts here, he layers up those signature low ends with different motifs - funkier drums and watery melodies on 'Shattering Myths,', r&b vocal swirls on 'One' and unusual synth incantations on 'Medusa Weed', while 'Eternal Winter' is a subtle celebration with gentle charm. Another superb EP from a unique producer.

On her fourth full-length album as Shedir, Sardinian sound artist Martina Betti offers a profound meditation on what it means to be human on the threshold of uncertainty.

We Are All Strangers is a series of ambient tapes-tries shaped by duality and introspection, where sound becomes a space to explore the tension between identity and ambiguity, presence and disappearance, connection and solitude. Inspired by the idea that we are all strangers, however, first and foremost to ourselves, Betti crafts seven fluid, slow-burn compositions that inhabit a sociological liminal zone—what she comments as an “inner elsewhere.”

These aren’t songs in the traditional sense, but evolving sonic environments that feel like emotional states made audible. Environmental textures, submerged electronics, and deep low-end pulses coalesce into a dreamlike architecture of sound: immersive, fragile, and quietly transformative.

Rather than offering answers or closure, the album invites us to live in radical openness—to stop trying to define everything we see and feel, and instead bathe in what remains unnamed. In this sense, We Are All Strangers is an invitation: to sit with uncertainty, to embrace the unfinished, and to find resonance even in our collective disconnection.

For listeners drawn to the introspective frequencies of Rafael Anton Irisarri, Félicia Atkinson, or Lawrence English, Betti’s music offers a similarly haunting and immersive experience—one where strangeness is not a flaw, but a starting point. In her hands, ambient music becomes a kind of reflective shelter: a place to brush against each other in the dark and begin to learn, as she puts it, “the difficult art of closeness.”

New York-based Patrick Sullivan AKA P-Sol has a terrific track record when it comes to refined re-edits and classy, sample-rich mash-ups. Even so, his latest effort, delivered on a tidy and must-check seven-inch, is particularly potent. On the A-side, he takes us into immersive, seductive and ultra-deep territory via the mid-tempo house headiness of 'Everybody' - a kind of 'quiet storm goes deep house' affair featuring warming electric piano chords, heady bass and selected vocal samples from a soulful classic. On 'Walk Away', he provides a warming, percussion-rich new take on R&B classic 'Don't Walk Away', adding her familiar vocals to a head-nodding instrumental full of mazy solos, rubbery bass guitar and handclap-heavy beats.

MUNA sind magisch. All das während der vielleicht unruhigsten Phase deines Lebens? "Silk Chiffon", der Instant-Hit von MUNA mit Labelchefin Phoebe Bridgers, schlug wie ein doppelter Regenbogen in den grauen Himmel der anderthalbjährigen Pandemie ein. Pitchfork nannte es einen "Strudel von Schmetterlingen im Bauch", NPR einen "Queerwurm", der US-Rolling Stone "eine der süßesten Melodien des Jahres, die die Art von purer Pop-Seligkeit ausstrahlt, die so viele Bands anstreben, aber fast nie richtig hinbekommen." Für MUNAs Gitarristin und Produzentin Naomi McPherson war es ein "song for kids to have their first gay kiss to." Und so blühten mehrere Tausend verrückte Twitter- und TikTok-Memes auf. Seit Beginn ihrer Karriere haben MUNA den Schmerz als Fundament der Sehnsucht, als Zentrum der radikalen Wahrheit, als Teil des Erwachsenwerdens und als inhärenten Faktor der Erfahrung von Marginalität betrachtet - die Bandmitglieder gehören Queer- und Minderheitengemeinschaften an und spielen ihre Songs vor allem für diese. This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of No Regrets, the fourth studio album by The Walker Brothers.

Following an eight-year hiatus Gary Leeds, Scott Engel, and John Maus finally reunited. This time the band drew stronger influences
from country and contemporary pop music. Most of the material on the album was written by renowned artists of its time such as
Curtis Mayfield, Emmylou Harris, Mickey Newbury, Kris Kristofferson, and Janis Ian.

The reunion was a success with the title song reaching the top 10 in the United Kingdom and Netherlands.

The album has now been reissued on LP for the first time in 50 years.

USA Hardcore/Punk Geschichte! M.I.A. wurden 1980 in Las Vegas gegründet, zogen 1981 nach Orange County und begannen im berüchtigten Cuckoo's Nest zusammen mit Fear, Shattered Faith, T.S.OL. u.a. Shows zu spieln. Ende '81 gingen sie in ein lokales Tonstudio in Costa Mesa und nahmen an einem Nachmittag neun Songs auf, bis ihnen das Geld ausging - 300 Dollar gut angelegt! Eine Kassette wurde rasch kopiert und herumgereicht. Eine Kopie der Kassette wurde KevinSeconds bei einem Gig mit 7 Seconds in Reno gegeben. Kevin gab sie an Tim Yohannan von Maximum Rocknroll weiter. Schließlich gelangte sie in die Hände von Felix Alanis von Smoke Seven und Greg Shaw von Bomp. Mitte 1982 waren M.I.A. dann auf drei Vinyl-Veröffentlichungen vertreten: "Tell Me Why" auf der Compilation American Youth Report von Bomp, "New Left" auf Maximum Rocknroll Presents: Not So Quiet On the Western Front von Alternative Tentacles und acht der neun Tracks landeten auf der berüchtigten Split-LP mit Last Rites auf Smoke Seven. Alle 9 Tracks des ersten Tapes sind hier versammelt, zum ersten Mal richtig abgemischt. Der Begin von M.I.A.
