These two brothers started with a group called “The Rock N’ Roll Trio” and one listen to those tracks lead into one direction - authentic, powerful, and dynamic rock n’ roll. And successfully, I may add.



Essentially, there was no need to change their entertaining formula when composing for Ricky Nelson and most of Ricky’s rockers came directly from the Burnette Brothers. So they continued their success for Ricky, to much critical acclaim and considerable esteem with some of Billboard’s significant achievements and milestones.



James Burton cut his teeth on the guitar solos he would create from these Burnette rockers, with the guitar break on “Believe What You Say” to be arguably one of the finest. James Burton credits the Nelson family for his success to this day.



There were a total of 19 songs that Ricky recorded by the Burnette Brothers; 8 of which Johnny had written/co-written until his early passing in August, 1964 at the age of 30 years old. His brother Dorsey died in August, 1979 at the age of 46 years old but not before writing/co-writing the remaining 11 tracks that Ricky recorded.



A few special notes here are worth mentioning:



“Hey Daddy” cut by Billy Burnette (at age 7) is the son of Dorsey. Billy fondly recalls cutting his first record with Ricky Nelson and his band, with Ricky singing harmony along with Billy. He was absolutely thrilled.

“Tired Of Toein’ The Line” written by Rocky Burnette (at age 27) is the son of Johnny. Released in 1980, song hit big overseas and number 1 in Australia. Ricky had recorded it at the same time but didn’t release it, respectful of Rocky’s potential success. Rocky still remembers Ricky’s consideration and kindness to this day.

“Lucky Boy” was written by Johnny & Dorsey Burnette and Ricky recorded it during his final Curb Sessions in September, 1985 as a tribute to the Burnette family - as well as it being a great rocker!

Acid Jazz are delighted to present Long Tall Shorty’s long lost masterpiece ‘A Bird In The Hand’. The first full length Long Tall Shorty album, originally released in 2001. Lead singer Tony Perfect mixes a Stonesey drawl with then-contemporary garage rock stylings, to show that he was always the smartest of the mod revivalists.

While 1967's Velvet Underground & Nico was a part of Andy Warhol's global artistic vision, 1968's White Light/White Heat was free of all Warholian influence, so in a way it could be thought of as another debut album. Here the music was left to fester on its own, with no artistic visionary interfering or trying to create a soundtrack for his pop art, and the Velvets filled that void with an album that is an aural subway car full of drunkards, junkies and whores rumbling through the bowels of NYC with a one way ticket to oblivion. As one half of Red Axes, Dori Sadovnik could perhaps already stake a claim as one of the most prolific men in electronic music. A natural artist, Sadovnik is the sort of musician who never stops recording, a creator ahead of a consumer, well-adapted to a frenetic lifestyle.

This particular impulse has been funneled into a project known as Kapitan, an already expansive collection of tracks clocking in anywhere between 130 and 150 beats-per-minute.

As for a home, it just so happened that DJ Tennis, friend, collaborator and founder of Life and Death, was processing similar instincts, borne out of his love and association with the nineties heyday of IDM, pioneered by labels such as Warp and Rephlex.

“I don't really know what led me there but I had a feeling that I needed to be in the mountains”, explains Sadnovik. “I'm not a nature guy, nor do I feel particularly spiritual, but I was always struck by the harmony of it all. Everything is in the mix.”

This all-encompassing, blissful philosophy is deeply felt throughout this journey, a fluid blend of analogue and digital sounds rendered as organic as the landscape that inspires the album. Interlocking rhythms evolve into unexpected chamber pieces and bubbling acid lines blossom into rave psychedelia on opening tracks such as ‘Weird Day’ and ‘Flowers’, progressing to the sound of ‘Takak’, which inspires meditations on enormous bass weight, as mantras creep in from the surrounding forest of sound.

In the album’s second-half, this sincere sense of awe expands further still. Centrepiece tracks ‘In The Valley’ inspires a true sense of wonder and transcendence, complex rhythms blending with wide-eyed reverence. ‘Smile’ is trippy and innocent while ‘Elleven’ crackles with whispering energy over whiplash breakbeats. Concluding with ‘Heart’, Sadnovik reduces the pace to a stepping, heavy rhythm, commanding a deep sense of respect for the untamed wilderness that has served as such a unique muse.

‘Teenage Gizzard’ is a newly unearthed collection
of some of the very first material ever recorded by
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard between 2010
and 2011.
It includes three early singles, two B-sides, four
tracks from the band’s first non-official EP
‘Angelsea’ and one track considered to be long lost
- until now.
‘Teenage Gizzard’ is a glimpse into the past of one
of the most prolific bands in rock history.

Big Country’s “Without The Aid Of A Safety Net” was their first ever live album, originally released in 1994 and recorded at a homecoming gig at The Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow.

The set mixes tracks taken from their recent studio album, The Buffalo Skinners, such as the singles Alone and Ships, along with the classic tracks from their catalogue In A Big Country, Look Away, Fields Of Fire as well as two Neil Young covers, Rockin’ In The Free World and Hey, Hey, My My (Out Of The Blue).

The original vinyl version of this album only had a limited pressing on 1 vinyl. This new deluxe version features the complete unedited concert recording split over 3 vinyl for optimal sound quality. The package is a tri-fold sleeve with 3x 180gm and Heavyweight Black Vinyl with sleeve notes written by guitarist Bruce Watson.

Arbeit. ”Wir haben uns einfach gefreut und dachten: ’Wir müssen etwas richtig gemacht haben’”, sagt
Augé. ”Und wir dachten: ’Okay, jetzt können wir dieses Kapitel abschließen’.”

Chart-breaking German folk rock institution SUBWAY TO SALLY have carved a unique live experience in stone with their upcoming release, Eisheilige Nacht: Back To Lindenpark, out on BluRay/DVD/CD on June 18, 2021 via Napalm Records. Since their foundation in the early ‘90s, SUBWAY TO SALLY have established themselves at the top of the scene. Having released thirteen studio records so far, the seven-piece featuring the remarkable Eric Fish on vocal duties never fails in surprising their devotees with an ingenious symbiosis of folk, heavy metal and rock. In the course of time, it became a tradition to celebrate every year with numerous fans and a final live show on December 30. What started as Eisheilige Nacht - with sold out solo-gigs in the band's hometown of Potsdam at the venue Lindenpark - turned into a whole annual festival tour shortly after, where top-notch bands heeded the call to join SUBWAY TO SALLY for some magical evenings. Due to the pandemic, 2020’s edition couldn’t take place in its usual form. As a result, the German folk rock unit decided to offer an unforgettable lockdown live event which they hope will be a unique way to fill the gap until they return to the stage. SUBWAY TO SALLY returned to Lindenpark and - supported by many great artists like Chris Harms (Lord Of The Lost), Joachim Witt, Feuerschwanz, Schandmaul, Saltatio Mortis, Major Voice and Patty Gurdy - created an extraordinary live experience. In an intimate setting, the recording starts with “Messias” and “Königin der Käfer” from the band’s latest chart-breaking full-length, Hey! (DE #5). Jack’s Mannequin is the side project of Andrew McMahon from pop punk band Something Corporate. They recorded three albums during their existence. McMahon crafted some incredible pop songs for the band. Their final album, People and Things, was released in 2011. For People and Things, the band worked with some notable guest musicians, including Jamie Muhoberac, Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction, and Patrick Warren. Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Eric Clapton a.o.) and Jim Scott (The Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sting, Wilco a.o.) served as coproducers. Two singles were released: “My Racing Thoughts” and “Release Me”. People and Things received favourable reviews, with critics particularly praising McMahon’s songwriting.

The album is released as a limited edition of 3000 individually numbered copies on orange coloured vinyl, and includes an insert.
