Five Five is the second studio album from the Miami-born underground rap pioneer, Pouya. Marking a slight transition into a more mature sound, Five Five showcases Pouya’s evolution as an artist while maintaining the raw authenticity that has endeared him to his fans. With tracks like "Suicidal Thoughts in the Back of the Cadillac Pt. 2" and "Handshakes," Pouya delves into themes of struggle, resilience, and personal growth, offering listeners a glimpse into his journey. In what became truly a solo effort, Five Five is limited to one feature in Night Lovell, with production primarily handled by Mikey The Magician (Track 4 produced by Chevali). CHARLY RECORDS present the first ever reissue of the sought-after cult New York, gospel street opera, Free The Black Man’s Chains. The most intriguing, and certainly the most ambitious project on the city’s GSF label (see more stunning titles on GSF exclusively from Charly). The project had its roots in a trio of singles released by the mysterious Broad Street Gang in 1971. The first, on the Cougar label called “Fair Skin Man” and its two follow-ups “L-o-v-e Love” and the title track from the album “Free The Black Man's Chains”. Celebrated musicians on the sessions were Mitchell Rowe, Bobby Eli, Len Pakula, Daryl Hall, Ron Baker, Norman Harris, The Raelettes and strings arranged by Richie Rome. A project like Free The Black Man's Chains should have been perfect for the multi-media nature of GSF. The album could have led to a film in the way that it had for Jesus Christ Superstar, but instead like so many of the label's releases, the album failed to make its mark due to a lack of promotion. GSF would barely reach its second birthday before it – and its parent company – shut down. A Black Opera…

Dark Horse – „Dark Horse“ erschien im Dezember 1974 und krönte ein produktives Jahr für George Harrison, in dem er sein eigenes Plattenlabel Dark Horse gegründet, in seinem Haus im englischen Friar Park ein Aufnahmestudio eingerichtet und eine ehrgeizige Tournee durch Nordamerika absolviert hatte.

Bingo Crowd (formerly known as BC) released their debut album "Sinecure" back in 2008. The band have been meticulously assembling the follow up over the last 17 years. Teaming up with legendary producer Alan Moulder (Foo Fighters, U2, Interpol, The Cure, The Killers, Nine Inch Nails, Beach House, Depeche Mode, Queens of the Stone Age, The Smashing Pumpkins and Wet Leg to name a few..)for the completion of the album that is "Manners". The result is ten fantastic tracks with an overall sound reminiscent of the earlyMute/Factory Records records that we all loved or should have loved.

Tone Def were one of the original batch of artists to sign to Moving Shadow back in 1991, who brought there early demos into the studio with label head honcho Rob Playford, releasing 4 records on the label between 91-92. At the same time Rog from the band was also building speakers and installing club and free party sound systems. His skills were unchallenged and he soon went on to be one of the top speaker/system makers in the UK, if not the world with his company Void Acoustics.

But not all the band’s music from back then ended up on Moving Shadow … some of it was lost to ¼” tape and forgotten about until 2019 when Vinyl Fanatiks reached out to the band, being that we are all Bournemouth based. Rog dug out the tapes and went through them, finding many tracks which have been released on Vinyl Fanatiks and sister label Acid Boom.

This is the final chapter of the lost tapes – two tracks written in 1992, finally getting a release after 31 years!

Tech-Wizard Lawrence Hart, der allein schon durch seinen Großvater, den berühmten Computerpionier Geoff Tootill, eine wissenschaftliche DNA hat, wurde schon als Kind zum klassischen Musiker ausgebildet. Bereits mit 15 Jahren sprach er an einigen der renommiertesten Musikschulen New Yorks vor und studierte dann Jazztrompete am SUNY Purchase College bei berühmten VertreterInnen des Fachs. Er spielte an der Seite von Größen wie Bob Mover (einem ehemaligen Kollegen von Charlie Mingus und Chet Baker) auf den Bühnen der Jazzclubs New Yorks. Bald entdeckte Hart die elektronische Musik und das Clubbing für sich.Seine Fähigkeiten als Produzent entwickelte er während der Zusammenarbeit mit dem Double Six/Domino-Künstler George FitzGerald, mit dem ihn eine langjährige musikalische Beziehung verbindet. Bis heute hat Hart Solo-Singles, EPs und Remixe auf Hotflush, Attack Decay Sweet Release, LG105 und seinem eigenen Label SSEM veröffentlicht.

Liebe existiert nicht isoliert - sie verweilt, verändert sich und taucht auf eine Weise auf, die wir nicht immer erwarten. So auch der 27-jährige Sänger, Songwriter und Multiinstrumentalist Brandon, der all das und mehr auf seinem Debütalbum „Before You Go“ erforscht, das am 9. Mai bei Secretly Canadian erscheint. „Before You Go“ ist eine grenzenlose Sammlung von Soul- und R&B-beeinflussten Alternative-Pop-Gitarrensongs. Heute stellt Brandon auch die Leadsingle „Right Back“ vor, ein gitarrengetriebener Alt-R&B-Song mit warmem Gesang und synkopierten Beats.

Brandon Joseph - einfach Brandon genannt - ist aus der reichhaltigen kreativen Landschaft Südkaliforniens mit einem Sound hervorgegangen, der eine Mischung aus unaufdringlicher Verletzlichkeit und genreübergreifendem Ehrgeiz darstellt. Underground hip-hop icon and Miami rapper Pouya kicks off 2025 with his seventh studio album, Suicidal Thoughts in the Back of the Cadillac, Pt. 3 - serving as an unofficial spiritual successor to his 2024 album, THEY COULD NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU. After a successful run as direct support to $uicideboy$’ Grey Day 2024 Arena Tour, it’s clear that Pouya has cemented himself among the top artists from the alternative / cloud-rap scene from the mid 2010s. With a rabid fan base primarily built from the ground up, and without the flashy mainstream features or press looks, Pouya has established himself as a staying power in a lane that typically sees artists rise and fall in accordance with today's modern attention span. Continuing to super-serve his fans, Pouya will be embarking on a nationwide tour in North America in 2025.

Old, exhausted Swedish producer Sean Dixon is back with a new 4 track EP, this time on brazilian label Massa. Inspired by the sounds of Chicago and Detroit, Sean delivers a four-track EP filled with raw grooves and warm analog synths. Blending classic house elements with a modern touch, the release captures the spirit of the genre while showcasing Dixon's refined production style.

Neon Pink Vinyl. For their tenth LP in a career spanning more than two decades, Tulsa's Unwed Sailor deliver their heaviest riffs, loudest squalls, and most deeply textured arrangements yet. Cruel Entertainment is a catalogue of contrasts - dissonance and harmony, hardcore crunch and post-rock grandeur, complexity and catchiness - that adds a vibrant new dimension to the second phase of their discography, spanning thus far from 2019's landmark Heavy Age up to the "vivid, starry-eyed psychedelia" (AllMusic) of 2024's Underwater Over There. Opener and lead single, "Rock Candy", roars in with a gale of feedback, pounding drums, and nimble bass, until a latticework of howling guitars ushers us into a more goth-tinged space. It's a characteristically intricate, energetic composition that flows with remarkable ease between its parts, and wastes not a moment of its three minutes. "Monster Collecting" brings a rare combination of melancholic and driving energy, reminiscent of avowed heroes New Order, but ups the ante with a tight, fastpaced rhythm section and litany of guitar lines, until opening up into a cascade of reverberating textures and tenuous sweetness. According to Ford, the title Cruel Entertainment refers to "the hardships of being an artist and musician in the crowded, imbalanced world of social media and streaming," where the completion of a new work demands that the creator also be a promoter, content strategist, and agent, among many other intensifying challenges. Pointedly drawing inspiration from noisier, rowdier bands - including Fugazi, Quicksand, and Cherubs - here they seek a much-needed catharsis in the ongoing fight to keep the creative soul intact. Second side standout, "Monty Donahue", typifies this form of release, as massive, mid-tempo percussion leads a fluid low end theme - inspired by the dual bass assault of Dianogah - and Swatzell's chords burst into shimmering nebulas across a labyrinthine arrangement that's equally loud and beautiful. Title track, "Cruel Entertainment", is a mosaic of sound for which Ford's bass provides the mortar: taut drums list between the channels, washes of guitar stretch to the horizon, and metallic heaviness punctuates the drift. There is a confident immensity here, proving that, although Unwed Sailor have witnessed a wild amount of changes in the music industry, their knack for creating complex, vital, and masterfully produced work remains untouched.
