Green Ink is back with the fourth EP on Altered States - a deep and driving four-tracker. All tracks were created in closely related sessions, dipping into atmospheric, techy and dubby sounds while keeping sweaty dancefloors in mind.

The unstoppable Ottagone series keeps on pushing the freshest techno of recent times. New batches keep popping up on their Bandcamp page every now and then, until recently only in digital waves. Textlich bewegt sich Lukas auf der Schattenseite der Straße. Musikalisch ist er der Hammer. Erinnerungen an Scott Walker, Nick Cave, Brian Wilson und den frühen John Grant werden wach. Die Mitglieder treten - ähnlich Broken Social Scene oder Black Country, New Road - in wechselnder Besetzung auf, darunter Laetitia Sadier, Phoebe Bridgers, Zachary Cole Smith (DIIV), George Clarke (Deafheaven), Circuit Des Yeux, Lauren Auder, Cassidy Turbin (Beck), Sam Wilkes und ein Dutzend weitere. Storefront Church steuerten den Song ""The Gift"" zur Netflix-Serie ""The Queen’s Gambit"" bei und nahmen den Roxy Music-Klassiker ""More Than This"" als melancholische Gothic-Version auf.

Mit eigener Sprache, eigener Farbe, eigener Emotionalität. Seit zweieinhalb Jahrzehnten sind Garish ein solch stabiler Anker. 'Am Ende wird alles ein Garten' ist das achte Studioalbum von Garish und unterstreicht, warum und wie sich das Quartett über so lange Zeit treues Publikum erarbeitet und erspielt hat. Der Wiener Schmusechor, der wohl aufregendste Chor seit Erfindung der Mehrstimmigkeit, bringt endlich und erstmals Live-Aufnahmen seiner fulminanten Konzerte auf Tonträger heraus. Leyya made it - das Duo tourte weltweit, spielte große Festivals und wird von Kritiker:innen hochgelobt. Mit ihren jeweils anderen Projekten und Produktionen zeichnen sich Sophie Lindinger (My Ugly Clementine) und Marco Kleebauer (Sharktank, Produktion für Bilderbuch, Faber u.v.m.) in den letzten Jahren auch außerhalb von Leyya als musikalische Genies aus und sollten die Wiener Independent-Szene nicht nur erobern, sondern prägen. Ihre Ankündigung, vorerst keine Konzerte mehr zu spielen, ist jedoch keinesfalls als Rückschritt, vielmehr als ein Schritt zur Seite zu sehen: "Wir sind endlich wieder bei uns selbst angekommen und es fühlt sich richtig an", so das Duo und produziert als Auszeichnung der Aussage innerhalb einer Woche beinahe ein ganzes 16-Track-Album. Half Asleep ist Bremse, Innehalten und Reflexion, eine Besinnung an die Gegenwart.

Endless Wellness - zusammen sind das die vier Jugendfriends Philipp, Adele, Hjörtur und Milena, die seit der Bandgründung in Wien ein Herz nach dem anderen erobern. Das Debütalbum 'Was für ein Glück' ist wie eine vielschichtige Collage für die Ohren, bei jedem wiederholten Anblick und Anhören kann wieder etwas zuvor Unbemerktes entdeckt werden: von Akustik zu Fuzz, Folk zu Grunge, Wiener-Chanson zu Punk, zwischen isolierter Intimität und beschwörender Mehrstimmigkeit finden auch Vogelgezwitscher und Wellenrauschen ihren Platz.

Animal Crossing Presents: Squid Ink Records 001 a new vinyl only label from the guys over at Animal Crossing with a slick cut E.P from resident Joey Jackson.

A quick five-year jump from 2018 takes us to the long-awaited comeback of the Will & Ink imprint. The Amsterdam collective was inaugurated exactly 10 years ago and has since gained fame for its exciting catalogue of forward-thinking, wonky techno experiments.

One of their mainstays for years, Yaleesa Hall, now presents (drops) a fresh batch of absolute dance floor madness with the Cullen EP. The EP features four experiments in highly energetic stepping electro, broken techno, and rumbling subs. It marks an exciting return and serves as a promising taste of what's to come.

25 Jahre Garish - dazu haben zahlreiche Prominente und Gäste Songs (mit) der prägenden österreichischen Indie-Band neu aufgenommen.

Für das Compilation-Album 'Hände hoch ich kann dich leiden' haben Prominente und Weggefährten wie Thees Uhlmann, Amadeus-Preisträgerin Ina Regen, Schauspielerin und Filmakademie-Präsidentin Verena Altenberger u.v.a. ihre Versionen von Garish-Songs eingespielt. Die Jubiläums-LP erscheint im Mai, eingebettet in eine Jubiläums-Tournee der Band.

Österreich-Tournee (teilweise bereits ausverkauft). Garish waren mit 7 verschiedenen Alben insgesamt 8x für einen Amadeus Austrian Music Award nominiert, haben aber nie einen gewonnen - und gelten daher als 'Scorseses der österreichischen Musik'; die Band gilt als verlässlicher Top 20-Album-Act in den österreichischen Charts und als strukturelle und ideelle Wegbereiter des "österreichischen Popwunders" der 2010er-Jahre.

black music groups, creating a path for many to follow. They
proved tremendously influential, with Bill Kenny's lead tenor

others, while Hoppy Jones's trademark talking bass role inspired

Rapper Mile und Produzent Flip hauchen dem Format "ein Rapper, ein Produzent" neues Leben ein und zeigen, dass die Arbeit nach diesem Credo oft auch die besten Ergebnisse bringt. Flip, ein Veteran unter Österreichs Produzenten, der sowohl von Boom-Bap-Puristen als auch von Street-Rap-Fans geschätzt wird, ist bereits seit den 1990er Jahren im Geschäft und wirkt bis heute in der österreichischen Rap-Crew TEXTA mit. Rapper Mile steht seit kurzem mit seinem Indie/ Rap-Band-Projekt SHARKTANK im Rampenlicht. Auf ihrem gemeinsamen Album "No Hard Feelings" liefern die beiden ein zeitloses, aber dennoch modernes Werk ab, das zwischen HipHop, R&B, Soul und trippigen Elementen oszilliert und einem internationalen Vergleich standhält.

Both versions come with liner notes by the great Masaaki Hara.
A true soundtrack maestro, Kenji Kawai is behind the legendary soundscapes of cult animes and movies such as Ghost in the Shell, Avalon, Ring, Ip Man, and Seven Swords among numerous others. PATLABOR 2: The Movie (Original Soundtrack) is one of his most experimental offerings, an outstanding palette of emotion-filled ambient atmospherics and percussion mastery breathing beautifully through Kawai’s minimalism meets modern classical approach. His symphony of moods paints a delicate picture of urban isolation, a central theme in the movie, but doesn’t hide hints of hope for a joyful future.

Available In An Opaque Lavender Colored Vinyl Pressing! Up & Away was a pivotal bridge in Los Angeles Rapper/Producer Kid Ink's career that took him from a successful underground/Indie "blog rapper" and set the table for him to crossover into Rap superstardom. This album included Ink's first real radio hit "Time Of Your Life" in addition to the cult classic "Hell & Back" - the first song Ink received an RIAA Certified plaque for. At the time in 2012, Ink was unproven in his ability to sell records to the masses, mainly surviving off free internet downloads to spread his music around the world. This led to the shaky/unsure record deals on the table, and at that point left Ink and his manager/partner DJ ill Will at a major crossroads. Either self finance, and prove yourself and go back to the table for a deal they believed they deserved... or sign a record deal for peanuts. They decided to put their own money up and the dice landed for them selling 20k albums first week Independently... reaching #2 on the Billboard Rap charts... also, leading to a major label bidding war. Eventually they went on to sign a record deal with RCA that spawned 3 commercial albums ("My Own Lane", "Full Speed", "Summer in The Winter" and over 20 Million singles sold (Show Me, Main Chick, Body Language, Be Real, Promise etc).

At times music gets lost for years in virtuality… And like an archeologist of modern times he wandered into his own archives, rifling through old hard drives and files exchanged with fellow musicians throughout the years to uncover music from the likes of Arnaud Rebotini, Acid Washed, Rambal Cochet, Danton Eeprom, Mount Kismet, Commando Variété & Seb El Zin.

What other than « Black Ink », as a name, could portray the impression brought on by this collection of tracks? A compilation that writes an original scenario between space opera and romantic Sci-fi story. As the music unfolds, the listener discovers treasures spanning genres such as Indie Dance, Leftfield, Detroit Techno, Electro, EBM…

We are super excited to introduce our label Altered States with this four track EP by one of the label-heads Green Ink, a showcase of his versatile production with dancefloor focus.

After his first vinyl release on Andrew Thompson’s and Auntie Flo’s HIGHLIFE Imprint, and collaborating with Nicola Cruz, bedroom producer Green Ink gained confidence in his creations. Dedicating most of his free time to music, the idea of an own label developed. Together with his good friends dj n/a and visual artist Han$ Wor$t the concept of “Altered States” materialised, and finally comes to life with this release.

With over 2.5 million album sales and over 2 billion streams under his belt, Kid Ink returns to his indie roots with this first independent release in nearly 10 years. Following the success of his previous independent album Up & Away, as well as two highly acclaimed releases for RCA, Ink returns with his fourth full-length release, Alive. The record’s lead single "Night & Day" is already a staple of radio and across social media platforms. The Los Angeles-based Kid Ink has brought his distinct style to the musical landscape since 2010, combining a contemporary aesthetic with an indie flair, and the spirit of the underground. Across multiple studio releases and innumerable mixtures he effortlessly dances the line between club bangers and more insular, emotive material. This deft penchant for smooth rhymes and seamless flow can be found across Kid Ink's many Billboard-charting singles, including top 20 hits "Show Me" with Chris Brown, and a noteworthy guest turn on Fifth Harmony's "Worth It". "Don't Let The Ink Dry", produziert von Aaron Dessner von The National, ist ein Werk von extremer Sensibilität und Fantasie. Die Britin Eve Owen, die als Gastsängerin auf dem The National Album "I Am Easy To Find" zu hören und bereits mehrfach mit The National aufgetreten ist, nahm sich für ihr Solo Debütalbum ganze drei Jahre Zeit. Während dieser Periode verbrachte die 20-jährige ihre Sommerferien mit Dessner in New York, wo sie mit ihm schrieb und Songs aufnahm. Dieser kreative Prozess war für Owen eine willkommene Zuflucht von ihrem stressigen Schulalltag. Die Sängerin entdeckte ein neues Gefühl von Freiheit und Zugehörigkeit und entwickelte einen ganz eigenen Sound: wild aber doch zart, unruhig aber differenziert genug, um auch die flüchtigsten Gefühle einzufangen. Aufgenommen wurde im Long Pond Studio, einer umgebauten Scheune und ein altes Bauernhaus tief im Hudson Valley. Passend zum Ambiente gibt Owen sich stellenweise dem Folk hin, allerdings mit elektronischen Experimenten angereichert. Mit Hilfe von Musikern wie dem Multi-Instrumentalisten Rob Moose (Bon Iver, Perfume Genius) und dem Pianisten Thomas Bartlett (alias Doveman, der u.a. mit David Byrne, St. Vincent und Father John Misty gespielt hat) gelangen es ihr und Dessner, einen detailverliebten, experimentellen und eigenwilligen Sound zu entwickeln. "Don't Let The Ink Dry" behandelt intensiv Owens Kampf mit Angst, Entfremdung, Verletzlichkeit und Selbsterhaltung.

This years' summer hits on Highlife comes courtesy of a new artist from Hamburg called Green Ink who's served up four uniquely brilliant global party smashers. Game on!

Our next Stil vor Talent 12 sounds like a mysterious, alien soundscape transmitted straight from outer space to the peak-time dance-floors of planet Earth. Edu Imbernon has already demonstrated a brilliant ear for pulsating house music on his remix for Niconé & Sascha Braemer's 'Dreamer'. Here, he once again teams up with fellow Spaniard Triumph, while SVT favourites Kellerkind and Niko Schwind are on remix duty. The title 'Mystery Inside' couldn't be more fitting to the meteorite shower the duo conjure up with the aid of vocalist Sutja Gutierrez on the A-side: sharp hi-hats lead straight into a moody bass-line that meets a beautifully rounded kick and percussion-workout. Things get otherworldly as synths start flying through the speakers, finally beaming you to another galaxy once Gutierrez' heavily spaced out vocals set in. On the flip, Kellerkind slows things down considerably and builds on the original's UFO-synths, while Niko Schwind cherry picks his favourite parts of 'Mystery Inside' and contextualises them within his own 80s synth motif and fat breakdown. Extraterrestrial warning: the Spaniards have landed!

It's the quiet ones we should watch, they always say. Which is particularly astute advice right now, when loud, constant self-declaration and saturated 'brand' visibility have become the norm. But above the babble and brightness, some voices will always speak quiet volumes ­- with calm eloquence and the kind of certitude that comes from valuing the playing out, not just the prize.

Sweden's José González is just such a voice. He first charmed his way into the UK's earshot via the murmurous and elegant, classically finger-picked folk pop of his 2005 album, Veneer, which has since sold over a staggering 430, 000 copies in UK alone. Two years later came In Our Nature, a further exploration of José's influences (Argentinian Folklore, the '60s US folk tradition and the British pastoral folk-pop style of the same era), on which he resisted the temptation to beef up his alluringly introvert aesthetic. The albums made the UK Top 10 and Top 20 respectively.

Conceived as the natural third part in an acoustic trilogy, Vestiges & Claws is a(nother) hushed and delicate solo set that forefronts the artist and guitarist's compellingly intimate vocal style and intricate playing technique, but it's often strikingly rhythmic in nature and cohere's perfectly, with hand claps and taps on the body of his instrument underlining the songs' mantric rise-and-fall pattern, while elsewhere, over-dubbed guitar parts and multi-tracked vocal harmonies entwine to sweetly immersive effect.

The title refers to both cultural practices and biological features that survive despite having lost their original function, and to currently useful tools, ie the 'claws' of modern life.

Vestiges & Claws was recorded almost entirely by José and self-produced, mostly in his Gothenburg home, using computer plug-ins to achieve a warm, analogue sound. He prefers working alone, mainly for artistic reasons. 'There were a couple of things that enabled me to complete this record: one was curiosity, to be able to play percussion and do a lot of harmonies and also to produce and mix the album; the other was aesthetics. I love to listen to Arthur Russell and Shuggie Otis, to music that has been done mostly by one person in their solitary state.'

As José sees it, the record is his personal, 'zoomed-out eye on humanity on a small, pale blue dot in a cold, sparse and unfriendly space. The amazing fact that we are all here, an attempt at encouraging us to understand ourselves and to make the best of the one life we know we have - after birth and before death.
