Come Back Down, das neue Album des experimentellen Pop-Duos Total Wife aus Nashville, entstand am Rande des Schlafes. Wenn die Komponistin und Produzentin Luna Kupper während nächtlicher Mixing-Sessions einzuschlafen begann, folgten ihr die Songs in den Zwischenraum zwischen Traum und Wachsein. Wie Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks wachte sie mit einer neuen Perspektive auf das Puzzle auf, das sie gerade zusammensetzte. ,Ich bin eine psychologische Mixerin - ich versuche mir vorzustellen, wie jemand den Klang erlebt, anstatt mich darauf zu versteifen, all diese verschiedenen Töne zu erzeugen und all diese Geräte zu benutzen, um einen bestimmten Klang zu erzielen", sagt Kupper. Die Erfahrung der Isolation veranlasste Richter, an ihre Kindheit zurückzudenken, eine Zeit, die für sie von Einsamkeit und Spielen in der Natur geprägt war - auf Bäume klettern, Matschkuchen backen, sich im Wald verlaufen. In Tracks wie ,in my head" und ,second spring" nutzt sie Bilder aus der Natur, um sich an diese Zeit zu erinnern und eine Verbindung zu ihrem einsamen inneren Kind herzustellen. ,Ich fühle mich mit transzendentalistischer Literatur und magischem Realismus verbunden - dem Versuch, Dinge auf konkrete Weise zu vermitteln, aber mit einem Element von Psychologie und Mysterium", sagt sie. "Having saved enough money during a tour with Peter Tosh to buy 4 multitrack recording tapes, Sly & Robbie asked Gregory to voice a few songs for them. Because they had played on so many of his hits, Gregory generously agreed to do it for free to help bootstrap the new TAXI label.

In 1979, Gregory Isaacs was by far Jamaica’s most popular artist, earning his "Cool Ruler" nickname many times over releasing hit after hit, most of which were produced with Sly & Robbie, who at 25 years of age were already the hottest backing band. Out of these sessions came hits like "Soon Forward", a fabulous cover of Bob Marley’s "Slave Driver" and 4 other potent tracks. There were no flimsy soul or pop covers: Gregory Isaacs, whose voice and range were at their peak, sang with clarity, depth, verve and confidence, with no unnecessary mannerisms.

A must have for any serious music fan, this crucial album features extended so-called "Discomix" versions of all the songs, providing listeners with a generous serving of the Riddim Twins drum and bass extravaganza. In addition to the original album, we have added 3 dub versions that were only released in Jamaica, as B Sides of singles, in 1979. These have never been reissued until now and provide a fascinating glimpse into Sly & Robbie's drum and bass sound, which revolutionized Reggae music at the time."

Sugaring a Strawberry, the sophomore record from Julia, Julia, is a study in coming undone—on purpose. Recorded at COMA, Julia Kugel's home studio, and mixed through a custom Flickenger clone, the album drifts in and out of clarity like memory itself. It's emotionally retrospective, creatively unvarnished, and deeply human. You can hear it in the hiss, the warmth, in the vocals so raw they're like an open window. These songs weren't engineered for perfection. They were built to breathe. Her long-time collaborator and husband, Scott Montoya, mixes it all so loosely that you can hear the air between tracks— a space that makes the music feel inhabited rather than recorded.


"Bound" opens the album like a secret passed between sisters, solemn and unspeakably close. It begins with the softest of touches: hushed guitar, a near- whispered delivery that carries the intimacy of someone singing only for one other person. It's a love song, but not romantic, more ancestral in the way long bonds can be. All glow and undercurrent, "I Know," is like hearing someone hum through a wound. The track arrives as if it had been waiting, coiled and complete, to be sung. Its pulse is slow but insistent, anchored on a hypnotic loop and a vocal that's half-incantation, half-confession. One of the most outward-facing songs on the record, "Feeling Lucky," opens like a cigarette flicked in the dark– smoky and a little bit slick. Built on a skeletal beat and a nearly detached vocal, it leans into a sarcastic swagger that barely masks the ache beneath. The delivery is droll and glazed, the instrumentation is sparse and a little woozy, leaving space for her voice to sway—a shrug of a song, stylish in its sadness. "A Love That Hurts" drifts in on soft, fingerpicked guitar and a dry, close-mic vocal that feels both haunted and immediate. The mix is stripped down and analog-warm, letting tape hum and silence frame the emotion. Julia sings like she's remembering something she doesn't want to, each line a slight unraveling. Like the rest of the album, "A Love That Hurts" doesn't push toward resolution. It sits in the ache, sifts through it, makes it beautiful.

Sugaring a Strawberry doesn't seek catharsis so much as stumbles into it. There's a quiet volatility to these songs like they might fall apart if you press too hard. It moves in shadow and softness, asking questions it doesn't answer. It doesn’t end with closure. It ends with truth.

This 12' release is the fourth in the series in support of the Kuzoku film Bangkok Nites. Both songs here are covers of The Countryside is Great', a 70s luk thung classic originally sung by Runghpet Laemsing. The song, which plays a pivotal role in the film, is re-titled on the A side by Ozawa and the Babylon Band, who deliver a funky version with winsome vocals by Katsuya Tomita, one of the film's directors, who, as Ozawa, also plays the leading role in the film. The Babylon Band is led by Iwao Yamazaki, who has a long-running relationship with Kuzok films, he is the sound engineer of Bangkok Nites. The AA side is a version by the Tokyo-based synthesizer quartet Kufuki, with vocals by Rifu Otsu, a singer/voice performer and master of shigin. Cover art by Shinsuke Takagi of Soi48.

'Kizaki Ondo' is a folk song from Nitta Kizaki town in Gunma, north of Tokyo. Played annually by local performers at the Bon-Odori traditional summer dance festival, it features unabashed lyrics about prostitution along with a rhythmic drive sure to appeal to fans of contemporary electronic genres as well as aficionados of traditional musics. The first track is a wildly echoing vocal version recorded in 1980, redolent of humid summer nights; the second track, recorded in 1981, is an instrumental version, both by the Kizaki Ondo Preservation Society. The other two tracks are extensions of tradition, with Tokyo-based producer Clark Naito's 2018 revisions of 'Kizaki Ondo', providing trap-inspired interpretations, with a vocal version using the original lyrics, along with a sweet instrumental take. This release, the third edition of the EM Records Japanese folklore series, directed by Riyo Mountains, is available on LP & CD, with English lyrics and notes, and rare photos. YMO’s first overseas performances took place as special guests at The Tubes’ concerts held over three days—August 2, 3, and 4, 1979—at the outdoor Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, USA. “YMO LIVE AT THE GREEK THEATRE 08/04/1979” features the complete 7-song set from the final night, August 4.



Supervised by Haruomi Hosono, the recording was mixed and mastered from the original multi-track tapes by world-renowned engineer Goh Hotoda. The vinyl cutting was handled by Shinya Matsushita of “Piccolo Audio Works”, ensuring top-quality audio.

The 3rd and final chapter in Cochemea's epic quest to explore and express the spiritual connection between his art and ancestry. For Vol 3: Ancestros Futuros, Cochemea entrusted his vision to a core group of longme collaborators-a powerful octet composed of New York-based percussionists and members of Daptone's famed rhythm section. End of 2023, changes surfaced in and around me. In the middle of it, I decided to pack a bag, turn off my phone and leave for Los Angeles. I found this tiny house on Airbnb that had a studio in the back. I spent 95% of my time there, figuring out what was happening inside of me while writing demo after demo. When I came back to France a couple of months later, everything had changed, my old life was gone.



The year that followed was full of new experiences, feelings, habits and occasional songs. I went back to my parents’, rented a 22m2 apartment in Paris for 6 months, travelled to the other side of the world, ran a lot, started therapy, had sex, missed, chased and eventually held.


One thing that never left was the music. I’m so grateful for what it has brought and keeps bringing into my life every day.

The story of Suffering began in the UK's West Midlands in 2012 and since those nascent days they have released a nefarious collection of occult black metal offerings, beginning with their debut album, 11, in 2018 and most recently the Symphonies: Diabolis EP in 2024. They have also built a reputation for intense, diabolical live performances, appearing alongside the likes of Esoteric, Ghost Bath, and Mol. The band recently signed with infamous label, Apocalyptic Witchcraft, with label founder Conor Droney describing Suffering's music as "dark, unflinching, and deeply atmospheric, exactly what we stand for." Mikabomb wurde 1997 gegründet, nachdem Frontfrau Mika ihren langweiligen Bürojob in Japan gekündigt hatte und nach London abgehauen war, um eine Band zu gründen und sich dem Rock'n`Roll hinzugeben. Nur wenige Wochen nach ihrer Ankunft in England traf Mika auf eine 16-jährige Punk-Göre namens Agi, die aus ähnlichen Gründen wie Mika ihre Heimatstadt Peking verlassen hatte. Es dauerte natürlich nicht lange, bis Mika und Agi anfingen, ihre eigenen trashigen Pop-Punk-Songs zu schreiben. Mit Ergi, Mika Bass und Tomoko, die die Band vervollständigten, fingen sie an, regelmäßig aufzutreten und sich durch ihre immer ausgelassenen Live-Shows einen furchteinflößenden Ruf aufzubauen. Sie begeisterten nicht nur Konzertbesucher im ganzen Land, sondern wurden auch vom NME als ,die neuen Ramones" bezeichnet, vom Melody Maker als ,fantastisch" beschrieben und von Steve Lamacq von Radio One als ,die beste Band, die Japan je hervorgebracht hat" bezeichnet. So wurden auch viele Plattenfirmen auf Mikabomb aufmerksam, darunter Grand Royal, das Label der Beastie Boys, das im Jahr 2000 zwei limitierte Singles mit den Titeln ,Super Sexy Razor Happy Girls" und ,Heart Attack" veröffentlichte. Ihr fantastisches Debütalbum ,The Fake Fake Sound of Mikabomb" mit 15 Titeln kam ursprünglich am 2. Juli 2001 raus. Da es auf Vinyl schon lange vergriffen ist, bringen wir es jetzt wieder raus, weil Mikabomb wieder aktiv ist und in UK gibt.

Rouse and Raise Your Voice ist eine Zeile aus einem der bekanntesten Songs der Band, "Keep Hauling", der von mehreren Bands in Großbritannien und anderswo auf der Welt gecovert wurde. Die Vinyl-LP startet mit "Crooked Jack", dem allerersten Song, den Mark Bloomer und Andrew Cadie bei ihrem mittlerweile legendären Debüt-Gig in einer Schnapsbrennerei im Moselort Ediger-Eller im Jahr 2005 gemeinsam sangen. Das Arrangement dieses berühmten Arbeiterliedes entstand spontan in der kurzen Probe vor dem Auftritt und wurde fortan zum Maßstab für den Sound der Band. Schrille Vokalharmonien, druckvolle Gitarre und Geige, changierend zwischen traditionellem Folk und frei fließender Improvisation. Während die Nadel nach innen wandert, zeigen Songs wie "Beg, Blag and Steal" eine Weiterentwicklung, wobei der charakteristische Sound nun durch Schlagzeug und Kontrabass ergänzt wird. Auf "Wine From a Mug" ist Katie Doherty stark vertreten, die die Band zwischen 2011 und 2016 auf vielen Tourneen und Aufnahmen begleitete. Nora is back! This is a brand-new 2025 EM Records re-pressing of Nora Guthrie's ultra-rare "Emily's Illness", a lost gem of songcraft originally released in 1967, in the same 7-inch vinyl format (b/w "Home Before Dark") as the original. Featuring the radiant vocals of the then-17-year-old daughter of Woody Guthrie, "Emily's Illness" was written by Eric Eisner (The Strangers) and impeccably arranged by Artie Schroeck. A romantic amalgam of psychedelia, pop, and acid-folk, informed by the harmonic and rhythmic subtleties of João Gilberto and jazz. Both songs here are wistfully melodic gems, framed by lovely orchestration.

ROTTEN, FOUL, DERANGED!

Around the end of the 1980s and the first years of the 1990s bands like PUNGENT STENCH, DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, DISASTROUS MURMUR or MIASMA made a name for themselves by putting out some classic albums. "Been Caught Buttering", "Changes" or "Expositionsprophylaxe" were records spawned by Austrian hordes which were globally hailed by devotees of Death Metal. As fertile a soil Austria once seemed to be, throughout the last 30 years not one single Death Metal album was put out that would match the quality of the pioneers.

Apparently, it took Brenton, an Australian settling in Vienna, to eventually put Austria on the map again. After having founded FESSUS with 3 other members in 2023, the quartet put out their first demo "Pilgrims of Morbidity" in the same year.

Now, two years after the very promising demo, FESSUS return with their first full-length. Cryptically entitled "Subcutaneous Tomb" the album's six lengthy songs stylistically continue where the demo left off. Whereas other bands focus on hyper-speed, over-technicality and brutality, FESSUS' brand of Death Metal is mostly played in moderate tempi with outbursts of speed and aggression scattered throughout the album. The songs are foremost characterized by memorable compositions and groove. Every song literally oozes with morbidity and conjures a dense macabre atmosphere. Brenton's vocals which are partly reminiscent of NECROPHAGIA's Killjoy are one of the highlights of the album. With his performance being equal parts versatile and deranged, Brenton spews vile bile and brimstone like not many lunatics before him. Although there are hints of other bands like AUTOPSY or PURTENANCE found on the album, FESSUS actually managed to come up with a sound that’s distinctly their own.

"Subcutaneous Tomb" is a perfectly produced album that those worshipping at the altar of morbid, rotten Death Metal can't afford to miss out on.

Since first arriving on the scene in 2009 with blistering inversions of shoegaze, Montreal's No Joy has always found formidable ways to reinvent itself. Now solely composed of musician Jasamine White-Gluz, No Joy has evolved over four studio albums and five EPs, defying expectation and genre, and cementing itself as something rare: a band without a category. Clearly sympatico at the time of collaborating, Fire-Toolz and No Joy (Jasamine White-Gluz) had both resituated to secluded woodsy milieus prior to the "Bugland seshies", as I now name the historic pairing. Together, they created an aural equivalent of a late 1980 I-d magazine front and back cover, with a non-problematic National Geographic hiding within. Fire-Toolz sums it up: "The collaboration really felt limitless. I didn't have to adhere to a certain vision in a way that made me feel like I couldn't be Fire-Toolz. I could easily relate to this album because Jasamine and I liked a lot of the same music, and I was able to be creative in ways that were freeing as if I was making my own album. " Both spent days driving through on empty rural highways listening to the mixes, and it reflects in the final product. With an open ear, many "influence eggs" can be detected by the listener. Garbage Dream House is Zooropian without any of U2's ego baggage. Seven-minute closing track Jelly Meadow Bright even manages to meld Stooges' Fun House out of control saxophone with the chill buoyancy of a high-end spa. Touching on respected, familiar genres and sounds while attempting to advance one's own isn't easy but Bugland manages to. What genre is it anyway? Is it even shoegaze when it could live happily on a shelf next to Boards of Canada and Autechre? The right answer is `yes'. What a lovely shelf `twould be as well. A marble shelf, with cyberpunk elements. Bugland`s a testament to White-Gluz's evolution and her ability to channel a wide variety of tastes into something cohesive that can descend into fine-tuned chaos, then out of that chaos with ease.

Fronted by Dutch-born singer and songwriter Michelle Hindriks, the band evolved into a duo in the studio with the addition of drummer Tim Spencer. CIEL's sound is both atmospheric and urgent-- heavy guitars, pulsing basslines, and driving rhythms providing the backdrop for Hindriks' haunting yet intimate vocals.

Think of a sound that sits somewhere between the hazy allure of Slowdive, the urgency of Wolf Alice, and the brooding cool of The Cure-- ethereal yet punchy, nostalgic yet fresh, and leaving room for wonky sound experiments through the use of vintage synths and samples. Visual art has as much a place in the world of CIEL too, where paintings and images can show you a different place and make you wonder about the environment, the characters, what is their story? After two EPs and having toured the EU with Blood Red Shoes, in December 2024, CIEL joined The Jesus and Mary Chain on their full UK tour, further cementing their place as one of Brighton's most exciting rising acts.

The debut from Berlin's Misere is a new jewel in the modern post punk crown. Sit back, relax and let the darkness engulf you with their primitive and sparse sound. Standout "Prickelnd" starts with the pounding floor tom and snare and slightly flanged bass before the guitar kicks in and the song takes twists and turns. It’s like a minimal sounding Xmal Deutschland and Blood and Roses with a vocalist that sings with a deadpan delivery. Another standout "Dracula" has the sound and spirit of the first Kleenex single down to a tea, but adds a hint of classic early 80’s goth. Final track "Abrieb" sounds like it could fall apart at any moment, in all it’s glorious chaos. It’s the sound of what UK Decay would have sounded like, if they were women. A superb release that shows the sound of Berlin in 2025.

Eisenmund, the debut by Berlin-based Schimmel über Berlin is a thing of pounding, brittle beauty that seeks to continue on from where angst-ridden, early-eighties Berlin left off. Angular, monophonic synths, guitars that slice through with wiry yet melodic urgency, basslines that pulse with a taut, driven precision and drums that meld everything together. Liv Billerbeck’s vocals come from the middle distance, drifting between detached and desperate, as if transmitted through a wintery cityscape.

Title track Eisenmund jangles with reedy synths floating over a carpet of bass and mournful vocals dripping with a sense of loss. This mood spills over into the other tracks, like post-punk jewel Schreck with its iridescently lovely guitars.

Eisenmund is sharp, atmospheric, and quietly thrilling - proof that the shadows of the eighties can still dance under today's flickering lights. The album, immaculately produced by T-Rex, captures that classic post-punk mood of urban decay, late-night introspection and stubborn sense of motion, which for someone like me, who was there back in the day, seems utterly familiar without ever sinking into mere nostalgia.

Die Band Schimmel über Berlin ist eines der vielen Klanggesichter der Liv Billerbeck, ein Gesicht, das man niemals sieht, das im Verborgenen sich umblickt und agiert und das trotzdem aber in einer seltenen Klarheit erscheint. Man sieht es beim Hören, schemenhaft. Ihr Schaffen ist befallen vom West-Berlin der 1980er Jahre (Xmal Deutschland, Malaria etc.).

Eine Rolle, gerade in der musikalischen Brillanz und Produktionsraffinesse, spielt britischer Post-Punk, der sich sehr klar auch im treibenden Spiel von T-Rex ​​​(Bass + Produktion), Việt Phương Vũ (Gitarre) und Christian Ramisch (Schlagzeug – mit Phương übrigens bei der ebenfalls sehr guten Band NOJ) zeigt: The Sound, Killing Joke et. al.!

Es handelt sich bei dieser Musik um einen Sound mit retroesquem Anstrich, der spürbar eine vergangene Luft atmet, einer Nostalgie an eine ferne Zeit anheimfällt, die das Quartett ob ihres Alters nicht erlebt haben kann, und die vielmehr eine Sehnsucht bedeutet, in der Unerfüllbarkeit eine Melancholie mitbringt, eine Art treibende Traurigkeit spürbar macht. Das allein ist groß! Was weitergehend daran aber so interessant, besonders und wahnsinnig schön ist: Das klingt in Billerbecks Schaffen – und insbesondere hier, beim Schimmel über Berlin – nicht wie eine Kopie, ein Abklatsch, eine Reminiszenz oder das, was in der so called NNDW bald flächendeckend geschieht: das Anzapfen einer überholten Coolness. Denn etwas ist ganz gegenwärtig daran, in der Eigenständigkeit, macht einem eindringlich das Hier und Jetzt spürbar, auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen: Traurigkeit, ja, aber auch Bock, bis in die Morgenstunden auszugehen, schnellen Schrittes über rutschiges Kopfsteinpflaster zu traben. Musik dann wieder zum Verkrümeln in zugigen Altbauten, von Schreien über einen nebelbedeckten See im Umland Berlins.

Und eben kein Eskapismus, auch wenn die Musik zur Flucht taugte. Merkwürdig ist, dass in dieser Retroschleife dann etwas Märchenhaftes mitschwingt. Vielleicht liegt es auch in der authentischen 1980er-Jahre Produktion, in der immer wieder so ein Klimpern, ein Schellen durchkommt. Es mag aber auch an den Texten liegen, die etwas von Minnesang haben und in ihrer Klarheit, die aus der Kühle und den Kargheiten (der Vergangenheit, der Gegenwart, der Zukunft) entsteht, doch Wärme transportieren.

Wir hören darin heute, trotz all dem Bewusstsein für die Vergangenheit, den Sound einer seltenen Dichterin der Gegenwart. Das ist von einer Intensität, die einen bald absorbiert. Eisenmund etwa, das Titelstück, ist so ein Song, bei dem man sich hinsetzen oder gleich hinlegen muss. Da sind Dinge, die man nicht ändern kann. Wie geht das? Also: nach vorne, heftig, und dann aber so weich und traurig. Hätten Schimmel über Berlin die 1980er-Jahre dieser Stadt beschallt, sie wären hiermit, das mögen sie selbst vielleicht gar nicht hören, die Helden dieser Zeit gewesen. Eisenmund ist das tollste Album, das mir seit Jahren begegnet ist – und die bisherige Klimax dessen, was aus der Allee der Kosmonauten hervorgeht.

Und wenn man das alles so hört, aufmerksam hört, wird einem, obwohl das alles so ein einziger, riesiger Hit ist, völlig klar: Hier geht es nicht darum, irgendwo damit zu landen, irgendwo mitzumischen, erfolgreich zu sein oder in aller Munde. Hier geht es darum, einfach nur genau das zu machen, was es ist! Alles andere ist egal.

Laconic Zero has shared stages with Lighning Bolt, the famed Sonic Youth and Swans producer Martin Bisi and collaborated with the late music prodigy Joey Hopkins.

Dread Spectre Council originated as Kenneth Amundsen"s solo-moniker compiling years of archival demos reimagined and re-recorded, first presented through this debut EP "Dystopia/Eons" feat. Dale Crover (Melvins/Nirvana/Redd Kross) on drums. On the pending album Kenneth plays all instruments, records and mixes himself in a solitary catharsis. »High Times – Singles 1992–2006« erschien 2006, erreichte Platz 1 der Charts und wurde mit Dreifach-Platin ausgezeichnet. Die Tour Edition 2025 erscheint als stahlfarbenes Doppel-Vinyl mit Kunstdruck, Booklet und einem von fünf zufällig beigelegten Sammler-Laminaten mit dem Buffalo-Man-Icon.

Das Album umfasst 20 Songs, darunter den Nummer-1-Hit »Deeper Underground«, sieben weitere Top-10-Titel wie »Virtual Insanity«, »Cosmic Girl« und »Canned Heat« sowie weitere bekannte Singles wie »Seven Days in Sunny June« und »Space Cowboy« viele davon feste Bestandteile der aktuellen Live-Shows.

Das Debütalbum von Spartan Warrior, »Steel N’ Chains«, ursprünglich 1983 veröffentlicht, ist ein übersehenes Juwel der NWOBHM. Spartan Warrior stammten aus Sunderland, im Nordosten des Vereinigten Königreichs, und veröffentlichten lediglich ein weiteres Album sowie zwei Songs auf einer Compilation. Allerdings waren sie live ausgesprochen präsent und erspielten sich so eine eingefleischte Anhängerschaft.

Spartan Warrior gründeten sich, als die lokale Band Deceiver – mit Bassist Tom Spencer und Schlagzeuger Gordon Webster – sich mit Sänger David Wilkinson zusammentat. Später traten Wilkinsons Bruder Neil und mit John Stormont ein weiterer Gitarrist der Gruppe bei. Mit dieser Besetzung wurden die beiden Stücke “Steel N’ Chains” und “Easy Prey” (auf der Plattenhülle fälschlich als “Comes As No Surprise” betitelt) für den Sampler »Pure Overkill« auf Guardian Records aufgenommen.

Das Label offerierte der Gruppe einen Plattendeal und mit Paul Swaddle für Stormont wurden weitere acht Stücke aufgenommen, die mit den beiden vorhandenen die Debüt-LP »Steel N’ Chains« ergaben. Die Scheibe verkaufte sich gut, wovon Roadrunner Records Wind bekamen, die Spartan Warrior für ein zweites Album unter Vertrag nahmen. Allerdings verließ Wilkinson in der Folge die Band und bereits Mitte der achtziger Jahre erfolgte die Auflösung.

Spartan Warrior reformierten sich um 2006 herum und traten auf dem eine oder anderen Festival in Kontinentaleuropa auf. Begonnen hatte allerdings alles in England mit ihrem Debütalbum »Steel N’ Chains« – eine großartige Platte von einer großartigen Band.

Nach zwölf Jahren Funkstille kehren die brasilianischen Thrash-Legenden Violator mit „Unholy Retribution“ zurück – acht erbarmungslos extreme Tracks, die die vorübergehende Auszeit mehr als wettmachen. Dieses dritte Studioalbum kanalisiert Jahre der Frustration in vernichtende Riffs und gallige Songtexte ohne Kompromisse. Die wiedererstarkt aus dem Underground von Brasília zurückgekehrte Band begeht nicht bloß ein Comeback, sondern macht eine musikalische Abrechnung, die rohe Wut in eine verheerende Klangkulisse verwandelt. High Roller veröffentlichen die Vinyl-Version in Zusammenarbeit mit Kill Again Records.
Die Band holte speziell für dieses Projekt den belgischen Produzenten Yarne Heylen ins Boot. Kill-Again-Inhaber Antonio Rolldão erklärt: „Er hat das Wesen der Band eingefangen, und das Endergebnis klingt mordsmäßig.“ Die Produktion stellt ein perfektes Gleichgewicht zwischen organischer Brutalität und chirurgischer Präzision her, während der renommierte Künstler Andrei Bouzikov erneut ein Artwork entworfen hat, das die erbitterte Message des Albums einfängt.

From that session one single, "Tonight" was released on 7" but the lost album "The Golden Seal" sat on tape almost lost to time. That was until Robert Garcia and Daniel Mathis spoke to Sherman while tracking the "Tonight" Single, and discovered the lost LP we have here, credit to them both for sorting out and hooking us up and special thanks to Daniel for saving the tapes when UPS almost lost them, which might have been the end of it!

Nachdem Master's Hammer 2018 die letzte Show zur Unterstützung des Albums »Fascinator« gespielt hatten, schien es, als sei die Geschichte der tschechischen Legende endgültig zu Ende gegangen.

Aber glücklicherweise wurde die Band nicht begraben, sondern ging nur in den Winterschlaf und ist nun nach 7 Jahren mit einem neuen Album zurück! Master's Hammer, die sich nie darum gekümmert haben, sich anzupassen, weigern sich, sich auf bestimmte Genres festlegen zu lassen und nach den Regeln anderer zu spielen, was zu vielen höchst originellen Alben geführt hat, die sich jeder Kategorisierung entziehen. Obwohl »Maldorör Disco« unverkennbar Master's Hammer ist, ist es wahrscheinlich ihr bisher experimentellstes und am wenigsten nach Black Metal klingendes Album.

The two tracks are an additional commentary on the band and the compilation: one song looks back fondly to former lineup incarnations and how the records were made, while the other lists the artefacts and talismans of kitchen-sink and DIY culture which run at the core of what PC, Gare du Nord Records, and a host of other friends, artists and labels get up to, still, now, in the mid 2020s. Musical nods in the recordings are directed towards Wreckless Eric, first-album Clash, and Cockney Rebel. The two songs are in MONO.

MJ Lenderman is a songwriter born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. The anatomy of an MJ record might go something like this: warped pedal steels and skuzzed out guitar; a voice reminiscent of the high-lonesome warble of a choirboy; the keen observations and reflections of a front stoop philosopher. Songs snake their way from a lo-fi home recording to something glossier made with longtime friends at Asheville's Drop of Sun studios, but the recording setting
doesn't seem to matter much - at its core, a Lenderman song rings true.

MJ Lenderman was recorded, mixed and mastered for digital in 2019 by Colin Miller in Asheville NC, and was self-released online to quiet but firm acclaim. Now available as a Double LP and remastered for vinyl by Heather Jones, it offers a glimpse into the formative steps of a style; focused and precise, yet expansive and rough around the edges, that remains consistent across MJ's catalogue to date.

Looking as firmly to the legacy of 90s slowcore as it does to the tenor of Magnolia Electric Co. and sound wall of Neil Young and Crazy Horse, these 9 songs clock in at just over an hour and offer warm, patient worlds of heavy colour that blow by breezily. These are songs that wrap mysterious and urgent feeling in layers of patience and clarity that unfold anew with each timeless listen.

As early as her first album, Retiens mon désir (2016), Cléa Vincent brought us her fresh new pop sound, and succeeded in speaking a universal language through her music – an achievement that she accomplished again in Nuits sans sommeil (2019). Tropi-Cléa 3, which concludes the trilogy with a tropical excursion begun in 2017, represents a new – and bright – demonstration of this.

A souvenir record from her tour in Central America, it draws its inspiration from latin music, from the jazz that makes up Cléa’s roots. Surrounded by her live musicians who participated this time with her in the songwriting, she plunges us into into an exotica à la française, in the legacy of the French Riviera of the sixties, where Cléa’s admiration for Nougaro, Sébastien Tellier, le Gotan Project, Baden Powell, Tito Puente, and Gilberto Gil shines through. As though in mockery of the quarantine, Tropi-Cléa 3 opens a door for us to a festive and salvational escape.
