This is thanks in no small part to the central role played by Wrecking Crew guitarist Jerry Cole. Cole had previously been the involved some L.A. session colleagues and cut his own psychedelic
album: The Inner Sounds of the Id by 'The Id' and was the perfect choice to front Astro Sounds which can be considered a development from the seminal sounds of the Id.

Nach bereits 6 veröffentlichten Soloalben erscheint nun das erste Bandalbum des amerikanischen Musikers und Songwriters (u.a. Bruce Springsteen, Sheena Easton) Tim Scott Mcconnell aka Ledfoot. Während sein ganz besonderer Gothic Blues Style weiterhin deutlich herauszuhören ist, trägt der Zusatz einer Band zu neuen Klängen auf dem Album bei, die stilistisch von Americana über Country bis Rock reichen.

Ledfoot, der seit 3 Jahrzehnten in Norwegen ansässig ist, begann seine musikalische Karriere bereits 1980 als Mitglied von The Rockats, als er noch Teenager war. Mitte der 80er Jahre nahm er zwei Soloalben auf, bevor er The Havalinas mitbegründete, die ebenfalls zwei Alben veröffentlichten und Industrielegende Bob Dylan auf seiner ´Oh Mercy´-Welttournee als Support Band begleiteten. Mcconnell, dessen Kompositionen in der Vergangenheit bereits von Rock / Pop -Größen wie Bruce Springsteen („High Hopes“) und Sheena Easton („Swear“) gecovert wurden, ist zweifacher Gewinner des Spellemann Awards (norwegischer Grammy) in der Blues-Kategorie, darunter auch für seine jüngste Aufnahme, „Coffin Nails“ aus dem Jahr 2022. Es ist ein Album, das den Außenseiter thematisiert: Loser, Outcasts, Wannabes, einfache Menschen mit großen Träumen. Die neun Songs, die an Werke von Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons, Bruce Springsteen und sogar Mink DeVille erinnern, wurden in nur vier Tagen im Studio Nyhagen auf dem Land nördlich von Oslo aufgenommen. Die daraus resultierende "Live-Atmosphäre" steht als Zeugnis für wirklich großartige Musikalität. Ledfoot demonstriert, einmal wieder, sein ausgeprägtes Talent fürs Songwriting und Geschichtenerzählen, welches „Outsiders“, gepaart mit seiner einzigartigen Stimme, der ikonischen 12-saitigen (Slide-) Gitarre, sowie der zusätzlichen musikalischen Untermalung der Band, zu einem phänomenalen siebten Album des Künstlers macht. An’archives presents the latest album by Japanese free saxophonist and vocalist Harutaka Mochizuki, Doppelgänger ga boku wo. Since the early 2000s, Harutaka has quietly, yet steadily, released a string of solo and collaborative releases that have allowed multiple perspectives on one of the most singular voices in modern music. In collaboration, he seems to prefer the duo format, and digging through his discography, you’ll find releases where he pairs with Tomoyuki Aoki (of Up-Tight), Michel Henritzi, and Hideaki Kondo. But Harutaka’s solo performances, with their lyricism and physicality, are where the magic truly happens.

If earlier albums, like Solo Document 2004 (Bishop, 2005) and Pas (no label, 2014), were raw documentations of solo alto saxophone performances, in recent years, Harutaka’s solo albums have become more complex, more mystifying. Most significantly, they’ve become more personal; there are few musicians extant whose albums feel quite so much like diaristic interventions, and Harutaka’s music now is deeply moving in its intimacy. Developing that thread of revelation, Doppelgänger ga boku wo offers a still richer exploration of many facets of Harutaka’s artistry.

The two double-tracked alto saxophone performances here feel consummate, with Harutaka shadowing himself, exploring the possibilities of the multiple self: Doppelgänger is me, indeed. The playing here is rich with affect, but still exploratory, voiced with rigour and intent. Two short pieces for keyboard and voice (about Giacometti and Genêt, respectively) are fragile miniatures, with clusters of chords, and passing phrases, wrapping around Harutaka’s untutored but lovely singing.

The ‘karaoke’ performance that closes the album, of “Woman ‘W no higeki’ yori”, speaks to the iterative aspects of Harutaka’s music. A cover of the Hiroki Yakushimaru song, the theme to Shinichirō Sawai’s 1984 film W’s Tragedy, he’s returned to this song several times, and here, his delivery perfectly captures the spirit of what Michel Henritzi, in his typically beautiful liner notes, evocatively details as “one of those sad love songs that accompany lonely sake drinkers in smoky night bars, sharing their spleen.”

Obwohl die Musik nicht im Metal-Bereich angesiedelt ist, hat sie eine Schwere und Härte, die der von Amenra in nichts nachsteht.

The self-titled debut album by Last Plane Out (S-Rock/Border) will be released worldwide on vinyl - The band: Last Plane Out is a duo consisting of Nils Erikson (music) and Anders Lundquist (lyrics) They describe their style as progressive pop: songs for those looking for some musical and lyrical chewing resistance, yet appealing to the casual listener.

Nils Erikson, based in Malmoo, Sweden, is a Swedish singer, composer and multi- instrumentalist. He has released a number of solo albums, one of which was nominated for two Swedish Grammys (Newcomer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year). He has also released several instrumental works that have been streamed millions of times.
In addition to that, Nils is the co-keyboardist and co-lead singer of the progressive rock band Karmakanic, led by longtime Steve Hackett bassist Jonas Reingold. Anders Lundquist, based in Stockholm, Sweden, is a lyricist, composer and bassist/guitarist, as well as a renowned music journalist. As the bassist and one of the two main songwriters of Swedish hard rock progsters band Future Elephants?, he released three acclaimed albums between 2016 and 2023.

Kurt Wagner is back, mit neuer Platte, neuen Sounds und neuen Überraschungen, alles wie immer eigentlich, nur anders. Etwa zur gleichen Zeit bereitete er sich auf eine Live-Show beim Eaux Claires Sommerfestival in Wisconsin vor, das ursprünglich von Justin Vernon von Bon Iver und Aaron Dessner von The National gegründet wurde. Inspiriert von der Originalität der Performances, die er während des PEOPLE Festivals 2018 in Berlin gesehen hatte, und einigen der Leute, die er dort getroffen hatte, machte er sich wieder einmal auf die Suche nach etwas Neuem und wandte sich an Ryan Olson und Andrew Broder, um seine groben Piano-Ideen zu konkretisieren. Da schien es auch ein günstiger Zeitpunkt zu sein, einen weiteren Musiker an Bord zu holen, der ganz hervorragend zu Lambshop passt, eine Zusammenarbeit fühlte sich für viele längst überfällig an. Zum ersten Mal spielt James McNew, ein langjähriger Freund sowie Mitglied von Yo La Tengo, am Kontrabass.

rush2theUnknown is a project born in pandemic-era provincial New Zealand, developed in the hills of Izu Peninsula, Japan, but forged in the fire of potent teenage memories — the flames of the future sounds of jungle and drum 'n' bass that exploded onto dance floors across the urban centres of New Zealand in the mid 90's. Two old friends, both who played pivotal roles in the development of New Zealand's own jungle and drum 'n' bass scenes in the 1990s, estranged for decades, reunited amidst the isolation and chaos of covid. They began an experiment, attempting to recapture the feeling of having their heads overwhelmed by sounds they couldn't quite comprehend as adolescents — in particular, channeling the energy, spirit, and vibe of 1995 to 1997, where the ever-mutating evolution of jungle intersected with the dawning of drum 'n' bass to create a utopian future vision, before the latter genre changed course and moved increasingly darker.

By weaving in the influences that these two long-lost friends had accumulated over the decades, most notably from ambient, kankyõ ongaku, new age, minimalism, and some of the deepest research into the history of Japanese video game music ever conducted, the pair attempt to discover new terrain from an specific era of dance music that was never fully explored.

ora’s most innovative modern exponent bathes in communion with a re-imagined classical guitar, unveiling a new and previously unsuspected musical universe. In a meeting between instruments, not traditions, these maestros emerge from quite different and distant musical worlds. Ballaké Sissoko’s kora tradition and lineage traverse the once powerful West African empire known as Kaabu. South African Derek Gripper’s roots are in European classical guitar but infused with a unique jeli music mastery that takes guitar’s modern history in a captivating new direction.

But we are not hearing these traditions in dialogue: these masters meet on the sonic groundings of the kora, instrument of the griots, resonant vessel of the sacred and profane, sound carrier of history and wisdom. Through two decades of commitment and study, it is to this terrain that Gripper brings his guitar to meet its multi-stringed cousin.

The two men do not share a spoken language, but if it is true that music speaks universally, then they were already involved in profound dialogue long before they met for the series of London concerts which yielded this recording session – a session which matches deep communion with sparkling improvisation, which pushes a living tradition into brand new sonic spaces, and opens a live and direct channel of communication between kora and guitar. In the complex web of theme and variations spun by Sissoko’s twenty-two strings and Gripper’s six, a new African string theory is elaborated.

“Musically we tested each other,” says Sissoko, explaining that the most magical aspect of their encounters are spontaneity. “We have the mastery of our instruments, the technique and a good ear. Derek is very curious, that’s very important.”

“He’s just such a good listener,” says Gripper about Sissoko. “It’s not what he plays, it’s how he plays it. He’s an amazing interpreter, the prime master of timbre.”

Die BMX Bandits veröffentlichen seit Jahrzehnten in unregelmäßigen Abständen großartige und kompromisslose Alben. Mit ihrem zwölften Album "Dreamers on the Run" haben die Indie-Pop-Ikonen nun, man kann es nicht anders sagen, ein brillantes, ambitioniertes Meisterwerk aufgenommen. Fast scheint es, als hätten sich Duglas T. Stewart und seine rechte Hand Andrew Pattie in Schottland ein Brill Building selbstgebaut um die elf neuen Songs zu schreiben, zu arrangieren und zu produzieren. Classically trained on piano in Ukraine as a child, Eduard embarked on a career in metallurgy and business before a crisis drove him to find more meaning and purpose in life. He started exploring the deep world of Kabbalah and science, and published his Amazon bestseller 'From Infinity to Man: The Fundamental Ideas of Kabbalah Within the Framework of Information Theory and Quantum Physics'. Some years later, he returned to playing music, and his radically changed mindset, research and life experience have now culminated in Shyfrin Alliance - his first ever album of intoxicating rock, blues and romantic balladry, composed entirely by Eduard himself.

Active since 2001, Ayyuka was one of the first bands to look back at 70’s Turkish music to find a new voice. Not caught up in the Retromania but reincarnating Turkish Psychedelic within their own style, the band managed to develop an unmistakeable unique sound. Their latest full length “Maslak Halayı” was a creative collaboration with Calibro35 genius Tommaso Colliva. The worldwide hype of "Yukadans” will now be followed by their upcoming EP "Zaman Ziyan”, showcasing four brand new instrumental tracks that will transport listeners through a kaleidoscope of musical landscapes, experimenting with techniques of music writing and flirting with genres like afro-beat, funk, dub or arabesque. BLOODORN, eine neue Power-Metal-Band des Lead-Gitarristen von SIRENIA, Nils Courbaron. Die Band wurde im Jahr 2020 während der Pandemie gegründet. SILENT WINTER-Sänger Mike Livas, FREEDOM CALL-Bassist Francesco Saverio Ferraro und SIRENIA-Schlagzeuger Michael Brush traten der Band bei, nachdem sie die ersten Demos des Albums gehört hatten. Beeinflusst von Bands wie GAMMA RAY, ANGRA und BEAST IN BLACK, greift die Band auch auf einige Elemente aus der extremen Metalszene zurück. Die Musik von BLOODORN ist sehr schnell und technisch, manchmal sogar brutal, aber auch sehr melodisch und eingängig: Extreme Power Metal! Der Name BLOODORN ist ein Wortspiel aus der Wikinger-Foltermethode "Blôdörn" (besser bekannt als "Blutadler") und "Blut". Auch im deutschsprachigen Raum spätestens seit dem massiven ESC-Hit "Calm After The Storm" (mit The Common Linnets) vor exakt 10 Jahren eine feste Größe, verbindet die niederländische Singer-Songwriterin Ilse DeLange ihre Country-Wurzeln fürs neue Kapitel mit einer massiven Dosis zeitgenössischem Pop und druckvollem Rock , um zwischendurch auch Eighties-, Indie- und Electro-Elemente aufblitzen zu lassen.

Die norwegische Punkband Aktiv Dödshjelp aus Oslo hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren in ihrer Heimat durch ihre explosiven Liveshows und nicht zuletzt durch ihre supermelodiösen Songs mit witzigen und ironischen Texten einen hervorragenden Ruf erspielt. In den 17 Jahren seit ihrer Gründung im Jahre 2007 ist die Band pausenlos im Inland und Ausland getourt und kann nun endlich ein von den Fans lange gefordertes Album präsentieren! Tauchen Sie ein in den dunklen und genreübergreifenden Sound von Totengott in „Beyond the Veil“. Aus musikalischer und philosophischer Sicht schöpft die Band aus Quellen wie der härtesten Seite von Celtic Frost, der rohen und epischen Seite von Bathory, der Atonalität von Kryzstof Penderecki, der klanglichen Ernsthaftigkeit von Conan und den Texturexperimenten des frühen Pink Floyd. Totengott vermeidet Einschränkungen in der Art und Weise, wie sie Musik verstehen.

Aided by her producer, the Osaka- born saxophonist Hisatsugu Suzuki, and his band, Wong has created a stylish jazz album brimming with her trademark soulful vocals drizzled over syncopated grooves. Taking well- known songs from the repertoires of pop music acts as diverse as Phil Collins ("Against All Odds"), Pet Shop Boys ("It's A Sin"), Dead Or Alive ("You Spin Me Round") and Toploader ("Dancing In The Moonlight"), Wong refashions her source material to reflect the cool jazz-flavored sophistication that is at the heart of her unique artistry. From emotive ballads to buoyant uptempo material, Susan Wong reveals her outstanding interpretative skills, revealing that she is a song stylist supreme.
