Bereits im Kindesalter lernte die junge Sängerin Klavierspielen und schrieb mit acht Jahren schon ihre ersten eigenen Songs. Im Alter von 12 Jahren gewann sie einen Talentwettbewerb, zwei Jahre später erschien ihr Debütalbum „Birdy“, das ihr nicht nur den internationalen Durchbruch bescherte, sondern auch 9x Platin. Zu ihren erfolgreichsten Singles zählt bis heute das Bon Iver Cover ihrer Version zu „Skinny Love“. Auf dem neuen Album „Portraits“ können die Fans sich auf einen neuen Sound der Künstlerin freuen: „Es ist ein Album, das von wichtigen Künstlern der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart inspiriert wurde. Nach einem Jahrzehnt der Abwesenheit erwachen The Mars Volta aus ihrer langjährigen Auszeit mit einem gleichnamigen Album, das ihr Selbst-verständnis radikal reformiert.

The Mars Volta wurden 2001 von Gitarrist/Komponist Omar Rodríguez-López und Sänger/Texter Cedric Bixler-Zavala gegründet und gingen aus der Punk-Rock-Band At The Drive-In aus El Paso hervor. Mit dem Ziel, "unsere Wurzeln und unsere Toten zu ehren", schufen The Mars Volta Musik, die die lateinamerikanischen Klänge, mit denen Rodríguez-López aufwuchs, mit dem Punk und Underground-Lärm, in den er und Bixler-Zavala jahrelang eingetaucht waren, und den futuristischen Visionen, die sie verfolgten, fusionierte.

Jiggy (IT) started mixing in 2008, exploring various genres and slowly creating his own style. For 8 years he lived in Ibiza, going from playing at small clubs and underground villas parties to memorable performances at Space, Privilege, Sankeys and Bora Bora while hosting weekly shows at Ibiza Global Radio. Throughout time, he released some of his works with labels like Innocent Music, Psicodelica, Variety Music, Ole Rec, Eisenwaren, Moan, Play Groove Recordings, Basswalk, Pild, Quanticman, Natural Rhythm, Konzept:Musique and his own Be Water Recordings which is more than just a label, it’s also a deeply spiritual lifestyle for him.

‘Booty Side’ uses its compass to expertly navigate its way through bubbling acid and rolling snares as we go in search of Jack, while the title track will have us going ape to its chest-beating bump and knuckle-dragging groove.

Silverback beats swing low on the flip too as ‘King MTF Kong’ bites hard with its heavy Chicago hustle and detuned synth, while the feral Juke-infused finale, ‘Gorilla Walk’, is a break-neck bass-driven and bruising encounter that is more Jersey club than Empire State building.

Using hex SPC data crudely converted to MIDI, Jammin' Sam Miller painstakingly recreated DKC's soundtrack note by note, by finding the original equipment used to create it, translating the MIDI into a modern studio context, adding in keyboard samples, and re-mixing the sounds with added effects and mastering. Ain’t No Telling' von den Houston Outlaws wird aufgrund der konstanten Nachfrage nach diesem atmosphärischen Dance-Track neu veröffentlicht. Die Nummer wurde mit der ebenfalls gefragten Harmonie-Ballade 'It’s No Fun Being Alone' aus demselben Jahr gekoppelt, obwohl es sich ursprünglich um zwei separate US-Veröffentlichungen handelte.
