As the 21st century was born, so Kreator underwent what was nothing less than a seismic creative rebirth. By this time, the iconic German band had released nine studio albums in the 1980s and '90s, which had established them as one of the most important metal names of these decades.In the first period, they had helped to shape and pioneer the thrash scene through such releases as 'Pleasure To Kill' (1986), 'Terrible Certainty' ('87) and 'Extreme Aggression' ('89). During the following decade, the band had opened up exciting horizons of experimentation on albums like 'Coma Of Souls' (1990), 'Renewal' ('92) and 'Endorama' ('99).
Now, though, it was time to move into a fresh era, as vocalist/guitarist Mille Petrozza explains.
“During the 1990s, we were definitely experimenting with what the band were doing. But (drummer) Ventor and I decided that for this album – our first of the new millennium – we wanted to go back to the sort of sound that we had at the start of Kreator. In other words, to get back to the reason why we began the band in the first place.”

There was also new guitarist introduced, as Sami Yli-Sirniö (who had made his reputation with Finnish band Waltari) took over from Tommy Vetterli. The latter (also known as Tommy T. Baron) had joined in 1996 and played on the 'Oucast' (1997) and 'Endorama' albums.

The producer for this album was Andy Sneap, who was now making a name for himself as one of the pre-eminent masters of this art in the modern metal world.“I had known and liked Andy since the days he had been the guitarist in Sabbat, as they were signed to Noise Records as Kreator were on that label. He was our first choice to work on this new project. I liked what he'd done for Testament on their album 'The Gathering' (released in 1999). He had given them a sound they'd never had before, and that really was what we were after. It was natural and organic, and also very modern. I remember phoning him at his Backstage Studios in England (Ripley in Derbyshire). And Warrel Dane, the vocalist in Nevermore, answered. Andy was producing their new album at the time ('Dead Heart In A Dead World', 2000). And when I heard this, again I was very impressed. So, I was delighted when he agreed to produce the new Kreator album.”

The album title came from something Petrozza had read. “In a book I came across a comment that John F. Kennedy said (in 1962). This was: "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable”. I thought 'Violent Revolution' would make a good title for an album. So, I kept it in my mind for this record. I think 'Violent Revolution' is a title that makes a real impact.”

One interesting aspect of the track listing was that the 52 second instrumental 'The Patriarch' actually came after the opening song 'Reconquering The Throne'. Fans might have been expected that it would have opened the album. But for Petrozza, there was a logical reason for this not to happen. “We really wanted to lead off with a thrashing track, to show everyone what we were now doing musically. After 'Endorama', it was important that everyone should recognise this was a new era for Kreator.”

'Violent Revolution' is without question an excellent album. While in some ways it does hark back to the glories of the band's earlier days, nonetheless it does not sound at all nostalgic. The performances and production values are very much part of the contemporary era, and the strength of the compositions themselves are of the highest values. Rising to the challenge offered by a new generation of ambitious metal bands, Kreator proved they were far from being a spent force. Unlike so many of their peers, here was a band who still had so much creativity to offer, and were also clearly excited themselves by what they were doing. And when you hear the band themselves enjoying the entire process, then you know this is a bona fide revitalisation.

Pleasure to Kill is the second studio album by German thrash metal band Kreator, released in March 1986 by Noise Records.

Pleasure to Kill is widely considered a landmark thrash metal classic, along with Master of Puppets by Metallica, Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? by Megadeth, Reign in Blood by Slayer, Eternal Devastation by Destruction and Darkness Descends by Dark Angel, all released in 1986.

The album played a considerable role in the development of many extreme metal subgenres, and death metal bands such as Cannibal Corpse cite the album as an influence.

One thing‘s for sure: There aren‘t many bands with a history as long and eventful as Kreator‘s, who fascinatingly succeed in exploring new horizons while challenging and reinventing themselves time and again.That was perfectly illustrated by their latest record ‘Gods Of Violence’ in 2017. With this 14th studio album of their impressive career, the thrashers from Essen, Germany crafted a work of art of utmost vigor, drawing its unfailing power from the pounding heart of one of the greatest, most versatile metal bands of all time.

Mainman Mille Petrozza’s influences range from Hannah Arendt, Pink Floyd and Tocotronic to Slayer, even though he was born and bred in the metal scene. Nevertheless, he is and always has been open to inspiration from various sources, which is why his lyrics are by no means merely based on corny genre templates but offer trenchant observations of our time combined with a witty aside to long-standing cliches: One of the best songs on ‘Gods Of Violence’ is really called ‘Satan Is Real’.

Formed in 1982, Petrozza and ‘Ventor’ – the only two remaining founding members – have come a long way from playing in a small-scale student band. “In my history book, Kreator didn‘t really exist until 1985“, says Petrozza, laughing. “Although we had already started jamming together in `82, we only entered the stage two or three times up until `85. Back then, our set list consisted of five original tracks and five heavy metal cover songs, we went through several line-up changes and didn‘t really find ourselves until ‘Endless Pain’.Over the years, Kreator, the leaders of the German ‘Big Four’ of thrash, have sold more than two million albums worldwide and have played countless shows all around the globe. It is one of these shows that is captured on ‘London Apocalypticon’. Recorded in December 2018 at London’s legendary Roundhouse venue, headlining a bill with US hardcore pacesetters Hatebreed and Norwegian Black Metal legends Dimmu Borgir. Kreator’s explosive set was quite rightly heralded as “a demonstration of consummate musicianship and stagecraft” by Metal Hammer magazine.

Knocked Loose have announced their hotly anticipated new album, A Different Shade of Blue -- a mammoth of a sophomore release and massive step forward for the band and for hardcore and metal as we know it. Recorded by producer Will Putney, the new LP was approached slower and more methodically. Abandoning the previous 'live in studio' recording approach for something more deliberate, the band cranked out twelve new tracks that deal with all manner of anger, especially loss in lieu of absence. While some musical influences are easily identified - Pantera, Hatebreed, Obituary and more - the band's palette and canvas has expanded by leaps and bounds, incorporating Gothenburg-style death metal (At the Gates, early In Flames), slam metal (Devourment, Dying Fetus), blood-thirsty thrash (Sodom, Kreator), black metal (Craft) and the mind-boggling complexity of latter noisy hardcore like Snapcase and Bloodlet. Their first official release was the 'Dreams Like Deserts' EP on Hot Records, & from there-on the band became a truly cult act, releasing a string of albums among ongoing live performances over the subsequent decades.

'Black Thrash Attack' was Aura Noir's debut full length album, originally recorded & released in 1996, & was a continuation of the intense thrash riffing displayed on 'Dreams Like Deserts'. This edition of 'Black Thrash Attack' includes a cover of the venom classic 'Heavens on Fire', from the cult 'Black Metal' album. All members of Aura Noir have had illustrious careers to date, with Carl-Michael Eide (Aggressor) notable for his work in Ved Buens Ende, Dødheimsgard, Virus, & Fleurety, as well as being part of other scene icons such as Ulver & Satyricon in their formative years. Apollyon, currently also seen in Coffin Storm with Darkthrone's Fenriz, previously featured in Dødheimsgard, as well as Lamented Souls & Immortal. Completing the trio is Blasphemer, formerly of fellow Norwegian legends Mayhem, as well as being current mainman in his recently established band, RUiM.

Violator wurde 2002 in der brasilianischen Hauptstadt Brasília gegründet und hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, eines der Aushängeschilder der postmillennialen neuen Welle des Old-School-Thrash-Metal zu werden. Die vierköpfige Band entstand aus der gemeinsamen Vorliebe der Mitglieder für genreprägende Acts aus der goldenen Ära der Szene in den 1980er Jahren. Sie mischten den unerbittlichen Stil der frühen Pioniere aus ihrem Land (Sepultura, Korzus) mit der amerikanischen Tradition (insbesondere den Genre-Titanen Exodus) und einer Prise Hardcore-Crossover. High Roller Records sind stolz darauf, vier Schlüsselveröffentlichungen der Gruppe auf Vinyl neu aufzulegen, wobei „Violent Mosh“ 2004 ihr erstes professionelles Werk auf dem brasilianischen Label Kill Again Records war. Nach einem Demo und einem Vierer-Split gab die Sechs-Track-EP den Ton an für das, was zwei Jahre später auf Violators Debütalbum „Chemical Assault“ folgen sollte. Beide Titel fangen die energiegeladenen Live-Shows ein, die sie sowohl alleine als auch als Support von internationalen Größen wie Destruction spielten. Apropos, auf der „Annihilation Process“-EP von 2010 konnte Sänger/Bassist Pedro Arcanjo nicht mehr nur den deutschen Frontmann Schmier oder Kreators Mille imitieren, während die Musik reifer wurde und Songs wie das ausgefeilte „Futurephobia“ haufenweise Potenzial erkennen ließen. Mit ihrem zweiten Album „Scenarios of Brutality“ (2013) löste die Band dieses Versprechen ein, indem sie ihren mittlerweile unverkennbaren Sound voll zur Geltung brachte, der das Flair eines neuzeitlichen Genre-Klassikers verströmt. Riff-lastig, mit intensivem Tempo und glaubwürdig Zorn und Wut durch etablierte Themen ausdrückend, die von gesellschaftspolitischem Bewusstsein und Doom-Mongering bis hin zu schlichter Thrash-Selbstreferenzialität reichen und mit rohen, aber kraftvollen Produktionen aufwarten, sind diese vier Platten äußerst wichtige Ergänzungen zum Genre-Kanon - Let the Violation Begin!

When asked about the founding fathers of German thrash metal, band names such as Kreator, Sodom, and Destruction come to mind. Perhaps even Tankard. The name Living Death is usually not among them. There is a simple reason for this. Similar to the Swiss band Hellhammer, Living Death from Velbert were simply a tad too extreme for most fans and the press. Thorsten “Toto” Bergmann's truly shrill vocals and the poor production of the first two (legendary) albums did not make it easy for the public to adequately assess the band's musical significance. Living Death was founded in 1981 by the two Kelch brothers, Reiner on guitar and Dieter on bass. In the early days, guest drummer Eric sat behind the drums. The line-up was completed by Frank Fricke on second guitar and the aforementioned singer Thorsten “Toto” Bergmann. Living Death recorded their first demo with three tracks in 1981, which earned them a deal with the Belgian label Mausoleum Records. A year later, their debut album “Vengeance of Hell” was released, which actually suffered from its very thin (and treble-heavy) production (in 1985, the record was re-released as a remix – with slightly improved results). However, the below-average production should not obscure the fact that “Vengeance of Hell” offers a few timeless thrash metal classics with “My Victim,” “Heavy Metal Hurricane,” “Hellpike,” and the title track “Vengeance of Hell.” The raw, unpolished sound of Living Death sounds more contemporary than ever today, 30 years after its initial release. This only proves that it took the music world three decades to catch up with Living Death.

Kreator, Destruction und Sodom. Allesamt teutonische Thrash-Metal-Legenden. Doch wer kennt heutzutage noch eine Band wie Necronomicon? Dabei hätte alles ganz anders kommen können. Anstatt bei Noise, Steamhammer oder Roadrunner landeten Necronomicon bei Wave Records (einem obskuren Unterlabel von Gama Records). Sodom ist eine deutsche Thrash-Metal-Band, die 1981 in Gelsenkirchen gegründet wurde und neben
Kreator, Destruction und Tankard zu den „Big Four“ des deutschen Thrash Metal zählt. In ihrer 43-jährigen
Karriere veröffentlichten sie 18 Studioalben und touren unermüdlich um die Welt, wo sie vor ausverkauften
Festival- und Clubbesuchern eine treue Fangemeinde begeistern. Auch ihr Fanclub, die Sodomaniacs, ist
sehr engagiert. Ihr letztes Studioalbum erreichte Platz 5 der deutschen Charts.
Diese Neuauflage ihres sechsten Albums „Get What You Deserve“ erschien ursprünglich 1994. Es war
nur in limitierter Auflage auf Vinyl erhältlich und ist seit Langem nicht mehr auf CD verfügbar. Das
Originalalbum wurde unter der Aufsicht des ehemaligen Gitarristen Andy Brings remastert, der auch einen
brandneuen Remix des Albums erstellt hat.

Nach dem Hoch Ende der Achtziger wurde es still um das Genre THRASH METAL, welches einst von Bands wie Metallica, Exodus oder Legacy (Testament) in den USA, dann auch von Sodom, Kreator oder Destruction
in Deutschland gestartet wurde. Erst in den Zweitausendern zeigten sich wieder Bands, die sich diesem Stil, der grob ausgedrückt zwischen Speed Metal und Death Metal liegt, wieder annahmen. Heute dürfte Thrash aufgrund vieler noch aktiver Acts aus den Achtzigern und jungem Nachwuchs so groß sein wie nie zuvor.

Diese Vinylbox enthält vier Alben, die zwar unterschiedlich sind, aber alle zum Genre gehören. Allen voran RAGING VIOLENCE aus den USA. Dabei handelt es sich um die Originalbesetzung von HIRAX, allerdings mit Sänger
Rob Perkins. Neue Songs und Neueinspielungen (unter Anderem der rare Demotrack „Born In The Streets“) konnten Fans und Kritiker begeistern. The new album “Rust and Bones” of the german Death Metal institution MY DARKEST HATE will be released on November 7, 2025. It sounds like a perfect cross-section of the band‘s previous work and contains 10 new songs. The album was produced by the band and Andy Classen (Legion of the Damned, Krisiun, ...), who was also responsible for mixing and mastering! The ingenious cover artwork was created by Remy Cooper from Headsplit Design (Napalm Death, Kreator, ...). Engel, der laut Band „all die Hörbarkeit gebracht hat, die 1986 bereits hätte da sein sollen“. „Bloody Vengeance“ wurde im Laufe der Jahre mehrfach wiederveröffentlicht und war in jeder Hinsicht minderwertig, vor allem was den Sound anbelangt. Erlebe es endlich so, wie es ursprünglich gedacht war!

The title combines numerous recordings which featured on a series of demos and underground releases unleashed primarily in the more formative years since Hellripper mastermind James McBain created the band in 2014. Commencing with 2015’s initial recordings of the cult The Manifestation of Evil demo, Complete & Total Fucking Mayhem offers fifteen anthems to the dark side, with a masterful repertoire of pure, raw, unadulterated high octane blackened thrash/speed metal.

Inspired by the likes of old-school legends including Venom, Kreator, Sabbat JPN and Metallica, James McBain formed Hellripper in 2014 and with the release of the debut EP The Manifestation of Evil shortly after, the Scottish band was already making a very clear statement of hellish destruction with an electrifying brand of blackened thrash. Building on the momentum of the debut EP with a string of split releases, the debut album Coagulating Darkness was released in 2017 to media acclaim, with the UK’s Metal Hammer hailing Hellripper as “Scotland's King of the arcane mosh” & the band receiving attention throughout Europe and the US. This was followed by the EP - Black Arts & Alchemy, before an eventual deal was inked with Peaceville, resulting in 2020’s The Affair of the Poisons, leading on to 2023’s monumental breakthrough release, Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags.

Necrodeath is one of the most important and outrageous names in extreme metal; formed back in 1984, it is one of the first extreme metal bands originating in Italy. They take inspiration from Slayer, Dark Angel, Possessed, Venom, Kreator, Bathory, Celtic Frost and Sodom. The band is also renowned for its live performances and notably for their "wall of sound". The band released a cult-demo tape titled 'The Shining Pentagram' and obtained an incredible success in the underground, which is still considered a real "piece of thrash/black history". Tons of tributes in major magazines, fanzines and other underground outlets highlighted the release of the first two legendary albums 'Into The Macabre' (1987) and 'Fragments Of Insanity' (1989). And today after dozens of full lengths, EPs and side projects the long voyage to hell is not over yet. New Necrodeath album, anticipated by the single on vinyl and video "Transformer Treatment", is the confirmation of a trade-mark consolidated in almost forty years, where the old school of extreme metal is present throughout the album. "Singin 'in the pain" is a concept based on the movie "A Clockwork Orange" by Stanley Kubrick, where the band takes us on a one-way black/thrash journey, represented by immorality and violence, and back to a vain attempt at redemption and normality.

Sofia Portanet releases her highly anticipated 2nd album "Chasing Dreams" on 8th March 2024 via Duchess Box Records. The album features the top 100 Radio Charted singles Real Face and Unstoppable, as well as the hits Mi Amor, Ballon, and My Time as well as a piano version of Real Face featuring special guest Chilly Gonzales as a bonus track. Wo ein Krater liegt, muss es einen Vorfall gegeben haben. Etwas ist eingeschlagen oder ausgebrochen, wo jetzt Ruhe ist. 2012 spien Messer das fiebrige Debüt "Im Schwindel" in die brodelnde Begeisterung für Punk aus Deutschland und wuchsen zu einer prägenden Stimme im Post-Punk-Revival der Zehnerjahre. Was auf den letzten beiden Platten "Jalousie" (2016) und "No Future Days" (2020) noch wild wucherte, ist nun auf "Kratermusik" stärker begriffen und gibt zugleich Sicherheit für weiterführende Expeditionen. Die einzelne Idee ist jetzt schärfer konturiert als zuletzt, Kratermusik ein Album im Wortsinn: Jede Seite ein anderes Bild, eine andere Szene mit anderen Figuren, zusammengehalten von einem Einband, einer Motivwelt, einem Sound, der dieses Mal dicht, aber umso detaillierter ausfällt. An anderer Stelle lösen sich Stimmen auf: Pola Lia Levy, die lange schon eng mit der Band befreundet ist und gerade mit ihrer neuen Band Dews in den Startlöchern steht, spendet Harmonien, die im erst sachten, dann zunehmend mitreißenden "Im falschen Traum" mit dem Rest der Band verschwimmen. Im Space-Dub-Finale "Am Ende einer groszen Verwirrung" stimmt sie mit Joachim Franz Büchner in einen beherzten Singsang ein. Was hier tröstlich klingt, wirkt im vielstimmigen Spiegel zerrissen, wenn auch nicht zwingend unheimlich - sondern ähnlich faszinierend-ambivalent wie Mille Petrozza von der legendären Thrash Metal-Band Kreator, der mit einigen englischsprachigen Zeilen durch den wispernden Refrain am Ende des Wave-Epitaphs Grabeland schneiden darf. Messer bleiben also ambivalent, fragend und suchend, gerade wenn es um Krieg und Frieden oder die Zukunft des Planeten geht. Die Bewegung steckt schon im Titel: Das "Messer verwandte Wort" Krater, so Otremba, "ist vieldeutig, ein Wort, bei dem klar ist: Zu dem muss man sich verhalten. Das ist ein scharfkantiges, schroffes Wort." Im Krater steckt immer auch das Potenzial zur Explosion, im Frieden lauert der nächste Krieg. Im Vorrang des Ästhetischen ist die neue Platte aber ein typisches Messer-Album, auch in seiner gewohnten Überschreitung dessen, was Post-Punk sein kann. Vielfältiger klang diese Band nie, ihr Referenzsystem bleibt undurchschaubar. Parallel spülen die Pop-Gezeiten wieder eine (Neue) Neue Deutsche Welle an, doch Messer bleiben ihren eigenen Zyklen verpflichtet, befinden sich in ständigem Übergang: Metaphern nie ganz auflösen, Motive immer neu ausleuchten, Sounds nochmal anders aufeinander beziehen.

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT wurde 2009 mit der Veröffentlichung ihres in Eigenregie produziertem selbst-betiteltem Demo-Debut-Albums von Nikita Kamprad und Tobias Jaschinsky geboren. Die grundlegende Idee zur Band und das erste musikalische Material entstanden jedoch schon ca. eineinhalb Jahre vorher, nachdem sich die gemeinsame Band der Gründungsväter FROSTGRIM aufgelöst hatte, der Drang, sich in melodischem und atmosphärischem Black Metal durch Musik und Text zu verwirklichen, aber immer noch bestand. Die erste Auflage (200 Exemplare) des Erstlingswerkes wurde über die Homepage der Band angeboten und war binnen eines Monats ausverkauft. Es folgte das Signing der Band bei Viva Hate Records mit einer Neuaufnahme des selbstbetitelten Albums sowie der EP-Veröffentlichung mit Namen "AGONIE" in 2011. Das Medienfeedback war beeindruckend, wurden sie bereits von Magazinen, wie dem Metal Hammer als die talentierteste Black Metal Band Deutschlands betitelt. Darüber begeisterten sie Musiker aller Riegen für sich, wie KREATOR Mastermind MILLE ("Der Weg einer Freiheit sind die Zukunft des deutschen Extrem-Metal. Überdeutlicher geht's nicht!") oder DARK FUNERAL's Frontmann Nachtgarm. Ein Siegeszug zeichnete sich ab, ein weiteres Album musste her. Nachdem das Songwriting für ein zweites Full-Length Album gegen Ende 2011 abgschlossen war, wurde der Entschluss gefasst, im Februar/März 2012 das Tonstudio Würzburg aufzusuchen, um 'Unstille' zu verewigen. Dabei entschied sich die Band, die komplette Produktion zum Album selbst in die Hand zu nehmen, was sämtliche Instrumental- und Gesangsaufnahmen als auch den Mix und das Master beinhaltet. Nachdem die dänische Melodic-Death/Thrash-Metal-Band AVARICE in den örtlichen Clubs Feuer und Flamme war, ist sie nun endlich bereit, ihr mit Spannung erwartetes selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum im Jahr 2023 zu veröffentlichen. Inspired by the likes of old-school legends including Venom, Kreator, Sabbat JPN & Metallica, James McBain formed Hellripper in 2014, showcasing an electrifying brand of blackened thrash. Building on the already impressive foundations laid by their early EP & split releases, the first full-length album, Coagulating Darkness',
was released in 2017 to media acclaim, with the UK's Metal Hammer hailing Hellripper as Scotland's King of the arcane mosh & the band receiving notable attention throughout Europe & the US. This was followed by the Black Arts & Alchemy' EP, before an eventual deal was inked with Peaceville Records, resulting in the masterful The Affair Of The Poisons', further propelling the band to the forefront of the UK metal scene. Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags' - Hellripper's third studio album - establishes a new threshold of excellence & raises the bar further over The Affair Of The Poisons', with an opus standing at the crossroads between the sound that Hellripper has become known for & a whirlwind of different influences up until now yet to be explored, resulting in James McBain's most personal & diverse
work to date. With a greatly expanded scope to the tracks, incorporating more epic & melodic blackened anthems alongside the high- speed metal attack & blistering solos, Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags' marks a new highpoint for the band. Inspired by the landscapes & legends of the Scottish highlands, McBain explores the darker side of Scottish history & folklore - the title itself taken from a
line in the Robert Burns poem,Address to the Deil' - as well as including references to clan culture (including his own) throughout the album. For example, one of the tracks ( The Cursed Carrion Crown') is based on the legend of Sawney
Bean' & the Bean Clan (a spelling variation of McBain'') & tells the story of a family of cannibals that lived in a cave & committed various gruesome acts. As always, the writing & recording process was carried out by James McBain himself, with a few guests offering contributions in the form of additional vocals & instrumental
parts. With recording taking place between March 2021 & June 2022, the album was also mixed by McBain & mastered by Damian Herring at Subterranean Watchtower Studios. The suitably sinister & ominous artwork appears courtesy of Adam Burke. Hellripper will be embarking upon a series of shows in support of the album throughout 2023.

Das 2021 erschienene Dream Unending-Debütalbum "Tide Turns Eternal" stellte für Derrick Vella (Tomb Mold) und Justin DeTore (Innumerable Forms, Sumerlands) eine deutliche Veränderung ihrer musikalischen Ambitionen dar. Obwohl das Album fest im Death/Doom-Bereich angesiedelt war, zeichnete es sich durch eine weitaus höhere Zielsetzung und Progressivität aus und distanzierte sich damit von anderen Vertretern dieses Stils. Jetzt, nur ein Jahr später, kehrt die Band mit dem atemberaubenden "Song of Salvation" zurück und lässt diesem Erkundungseifer wesentlich mehr Raum, sich zu entfalten und zu glänzen.

Der 14-minütige Opener des Titeltracks beginnt wie ein morgendlicher Sonnenaufgang über einem ruhigen Meer, bevor er sich zu ätherischer Schwere steigert wie die reich strukturierten Wellen eines plötzlichen Meeressturms. Der Schwung des Songs zieht sich nie in mühsame Wiederholungen zurück, sondern öffnet immer wieder neue Türen, ebbt und fließt wie das Wasser eines Flusses aus seiner Quelle.

Wie ein einsamer Blick aus dem Fenster eines abgedunkelten Zimmers auf die nächtlichen Lichter der Stadt, so bietet "Secret Grief" die Gasttalente des Sängers Phil Swanson und Leila Abdul-Rauf an der Trompete, was die Bandbreite der beteiligten musikalischen Talente und die Tragweite der unverwechselbaren Erzählung von "Song of Salvation" noch weiter vergrößert.

Das ruhige Zwischenspiel "Murmur Of Voices" weicht dem beschwörenden "Unrequited", das mit einem einsamen Gitarrensolo beginnt, bevor es in eine treibende Nachmittagsträumerei und unterbewusste Meditation übergeht.

Schließlich kommt das epische Ende des Albums, der 16-minütige Abschluss 'Ecstatic Reign'. Es enthält die vielleicht schwersten Doom-Momente des Albums sowie die Rückkehr von "Tide Turns Eternal" mit den Gaststimmen McKenna Rae und Richard Poe. Tomb Mold-Schlagzeuger / Kehlkopf Max Klebanoff taucht ebenfalls auf und liefert sich ein beeindruckendes Vocal Battle mit DeTore. Die cineastische Vision des Albums und die akribische, farbenfrohe Detailtreue bringen diese fesselnde Reise zu ihrem dauerhaften Höhepunkt.

Nur ein Jahr nach "Tide Turns Eternal" bieten Dream Unending auf dem grenzenlosen Panorama von "Song of Salvation" eine fortgesetzte Abkehr von begrenzenden Genre-Normen - und gleichsam eine geschickte Neudefinition derselben.

Cult Japanese black metal legends Sigh formed in 1989/90, featuring

Following initial demos, Shinichi Ishikawa was brought in & Sigh set about
recording the masterpiece debut 'Scorn Defeat' for Euronymous' Deathlike Silence
Productions, going on to become one of the country's greatest & most revered
metal exports. With a journey through the strange & the psychedelic,
incorporating a whole eclectic mix of genre styles & experimentation throughout
their career, Sigh has remained a vital creative force in the avantgarde field whilst
maintaining their old school roots.
'Shiki' marks the latest chapter in the Sigh legacy & includes some of the band's
heaviest & darkest material for some years; a fine hybrid of at times primitive
black metal akin to early influences such as Celtic Frost amid more epic melodic
heavy metal riffing & solos. The album also utilises a whole host of instruments
to give further texture & dynamics to the compositions & eerie atmosphere,
incorporating traditional oriental instruments such as the Shakuhachi & Sinobue
flutes.
The word "Shiki" itself has various meanings in Japanese such as four seasons,
time to die, conducting an orchestra, ceremony, motivation, colour. The two
primary themes for the album are "four seasons" & "time to die".
The concept & artwork is based around a traditional Japanese poem & on 'Shiki'
Mirai explores how at this stage of life he himself is going through Autumn, with
Winter coming soon & so empathises with the contrasting sentimental feelings
from watching cherry blossoms (a symbol of spring) in full bloom.
Joining Mirai & Dr Mikannibal for this release are Frédéric Leclercq of Kreator,
plus US drummer extraordinaire, Mike Heller of Fear Factory, along with an
appearance by long-time member Satoshi Fujinami on bass. 'Shiki' was recorded
across multiple studios & mixed & mastered by Lasse Lammert at LSD studios in
Germany.

With “The Devils”, long-running Diabolical Death Metal titans BELPHEGOR unleash their twelfth studio album upon the masses, which proves to be one of the strongest and most elaborate records in the group’s career. Produced at renowned Fascination Studios with Jens Bogren (Kreator, Rotting Christ, At The Gates), “The Devils” sounds absolutely crushing and dynamic, sonically pushing the immense variety of the eight tracks to new heights. Blending German and English lyrics, lead single ‘Totentanz – Dance Macabre’ is as ferocious as it gets with its insane barrage of blast beats, spiteful lyrics, and sinister guitar melodies. ‘Glorifizierung des Teufels’ (= ‘Glorification of the Devil’) and ‘Virtus Asinaria – Prayer’ offer epic, mid-paced grandeur and chanted vocals and choirs adding new shades of black to their stylistic palette. The title-track or ‘Damnation – Höllensturz’ prove to be more complex pieces, shifting moods and tempos with ease and expanding BELPHEGOR’s blasphemous onslaught with fascinating twists and turns. Rounded off by impressive artwork created by Seth Siro Anton (Septicflesh, Nile, Paradise Lost), “The Devils” marks the band’s third collaboration with one of metal’s most prolific designers. Ultimately, “The Devils” is an album that musically builds upon BELPHEGOR’s trademark sound, in essence a combination of traditional death and black metal, deeply rooted in the 90’s, yet boasts with intricate compositions and detailed arrangements underlining their outstanding position within the international extreme metal circuit. The second album from Wehrmacht, “Biermächt” saw the band maturing while still retaining their Thrashcore roots. Released in mid-1988, “Biermächt” featured a slightly cleaner production than the one found on their debut album. To some fans this rendered the album with much less intensity, but to our ears the sound was still very powerful. The massive reverb used on the first album made “Shark Attack” sound like a true shark attack and only added to the overall intensity. This time around the drums are more compressed and some blast beat parts tend to get lost in the overall blur of things. But on the same token, the guitars are much sharper sounding. Marco Zorich and John Duffy were truly evolving as guitar heroes. The thing that is really great and different compared to “Shark Attack” are the funny bit songs. We love them and enjoy them. A lot of the songs on “Biermächt” were leftovers from their demo days, including the phenomenal “Night Of Pain”, one of our all time favorite Thrash songs ever, but newer stuff like “Radical Dissection” and “Balance Of Opinion” showed the band handling a more mainstream Thrash sound somewhere in the middle of a Slayer/Kreator sound and Metallica/Megadeth. There is a certain progressiveness to those songs that hint to a more elaborate musical future. “Biermächt” is a very strong Crossover/Thrash album with a laid back party vibe to it. The sound, however, is very in-your-face. This is not a subtle album by any means. It’s not that they were the funniest bunch around (their side project Spazztic Blurr went a lot further). But Wehrmacht did have their own specific sound (mostly because of the vocals and guitars). Especially after all these years it becomes obvious all Crossover lovers and Thrashers from those days do in fact have this album and hold it dearly. The album has historic importance as well as huge sentimental value. Biermächt is a landmark in eighties Crossover Thrash and should be checked out immediately by all newbies.
