By 1968, Soul music is fully in the ascendant, with some of the tracks getting funkier and funkier - no Blues or R & B any more. So this album of music from the Lone Star state continues the tradition of mixing up big star artists with lesser known singers - plenty of uptempo dancers and a few delicious ballads for a change of pace. Definitely the best of Texas ‘68!

Luckily, I had already been through a lot when I got this ‘knock in the head’. Sex, drugs, lots
of rock and roll and a sunny childhood with beautiful views I look back on with nostalgia.
Later on I lost my focus and I only thought about one thing: how to get out of it (that damn
problem, my shifted reality, my blind spot, that piece of poisoned apple of forbidden
knowledge choking my throat)!

But I can't think my way out of it, psychiatrists are just ordinary people, and very heavy pills
suppress everything (I'll just take my pills) FLASH!

You ask me what it takes to create music or art that is meaningful and tells a story. It’s hard
when you haven't had enough setbacks, nothing more than maybe a little blues. I'm not

In 2023, Wood secretly worked with producer Kevin Antreassian on a new mix of his top-selling release "The Normal Album." Digging into the original 2019 recordings for more muscular takes, smoother edits, and a more nuanced and balanced mix, Antreassian and Wood created a version of the fan favorite that is one of the rare cases where a new mix is widely considered to improve on the original noticeably. "The Normal Album" is yet another turn in Wood's discography, sardonically playing with Americana and doo-wop sounds, strategically restrained but still highly emotive vocals, and lyrics densely packed with scientific and philosophical references. The dark mania of Wood's prior 2016 release, "SELF-iSH," continues on some tracks but is arranged with greater precision with a new band at his command. Like his 2015 debut "Everything is a Lot," the songs whiplash tonally but are brought together through intertwined themes and recurrent musical motifs and an undercurrent of simultaneous obtuseness and vulnerability. After the original mix of "The Normal Album" was released, a live version of the 4th track on the LP, "I/Me/Myself," had an unexpected viral moment, which brought attention to many other songs on the LP. Songs like "2econd 2ight 2eer" and "Laplace's Angel" continued to attract new fans with their dense wordplay and high-energy attitude, and the album became Wood's first major break into larger notoriety, proving that his sudden burst of popularity was not just a fleeting trend. After taking some time away from the public, Wood began to revisit the album with the intent of giving it the production that he had originally envisioned for it. Originally released in 1978, "But Not for Me" is a masterpiece that fuses African polyrhythms with spiritual jazz, created by the singular jazz pianist Masabumi Kikuchi. The album is now set to be reissued by "Spin This Now!".

Representing a more analog sound than before, Itken jos mua huvittaa was recorded in Gothenburg in the autumn of 2025. The album was produced by Gustav Ejstes, known as the leader of the band Dungen, and engineered by Mattias Glavå, renowned for producing Håkan Hellström's albums. Counting among the most popular bands in Finland, Maustetytöt also enjoy international cult fame and have toured extensively across Europe over the past two years, performing headline shows in England, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Greece, the Czech Republic, Poland, and throughout Scandinavia.

Delphine Dora, the prolific French composer and multi-instrumentalist, graces Marionette with a suite of keyboard instrumentals that evoke futurism and the transcendental. Based in France and actively releasing music since the 00’s, Delphine’s remarkable solo and collaborative projects loosely connect the dots scattered across modern classical, folk, ambient, and poetic writing - always seeking new ambitions in terms of her sound.

Leaving behind the chaos of city life for the quiet solitude of a small village in the French countryside, Delphine finds herself fully immersed in the present moment and committed to her multi-disciplinary creative practices, savoring the experiences of deep listening in nature and her environment. Drawing from an academic background in Outsider Art and Art Brut, Dora yearns to express intimate inner dialogues, revealing the beauty of vulnerability through transportive musical passages to the mystical and sublime.

L’inéluctable pulsation du temps was composed in 2018, at a time when Delphine’s life was becoming increasingly busy, marked by relentless touring and concerts unfolding in rapid succession across different places. Written in parallel with L’Inattingible, her most ambitious album, it stands as its instrumental counterpart. The recordings reflect a period of exploration and assimilation of the Nord Electro, an instrument that opened up vast sonic possibilities, particularly for the development of rich polyphonies inspired by repetitive music. The track titles draw inspiration from an essay by Hartmut Rosa on the notions of acceleration and alienation - a reflection that resonates strongly with the pre-covid era right before the quarantine. The album reveals Delphine’s most colorful and rhythmic side, an aural mille-feuille, in total contrast with her previous melancholic vocal works.

On L’inéluctable pulsation du temps, Dora sustains atmospheric drone miniatures that form the foundation for flowing, cyclical arpeggios, spiraling into a liminal dream space where the repetitive phrasing of melodies rewards introspective listening. The compositions move through (dis)enchanted landscapes, taking unexpected turns into more haunted terrain, their contours further blurred by Dora’s intuitive articulation and sense of refinement. By mirroring both the acceleration of time and the experience of alienation, Delphine conjures up timeless sonic meditations, rendering the inevitable pulsation of time as something at once mesmerizing and unsettling.

Unleashed in 1988 at a time when Death Metal as a genre was still at its infancy and the vast majority of bands were yet to release their first album, BOLT THROWER’s debut In Battle There Is No Law! already hit the nascent underground with full force. Only preceded by a handful albums like DEATH’s Scream Bloody Gore, NAPALM DEATH’s Scum or NECROPHAGIA’s Season of the Dead, In Battle There Is No Law! is widely considered a landmark record and ranks among the very first Death Metal albums ever.

Consisting of 8 tracks and clocking in at just around 28 minutes, the album originally released by Vinyl Solution is arguably BOLT THROWER’s rawest and most primal effort. Despite the uncompromisingly rough sound and their Crust and Punk influences still being rather obvious, the characteristics BOLT THROWER would go on to be hailed for, are already represented albeit in rather crude form, though. Rather than to its detriment, it’s this very unfiltered roughness that`s somewhat missing from their later albums that gives In Battle There Is No Law! its special unmistakable charm. Instead of putting emphasis on distinctive melodies and mid-tempo groove, the songwriting leans more towards all-out attack.

A new international super quartet in the jazz world. Lead by the young composer and bass player Nicolas Leirtrø, featuring international legends Kit Downes and Mats Gustafsson, and Norway's drummer extraordinaire, Veslemøy Narvesen - all joined in Leirtrø's exploring and grooving universe of avantgarde free jazz.

Rising singer-songwriter Hetta Falzon announces her debut EP ‘Henrietta’, due for release on March 13th. Given her extensive and varied recording catalog, if you're looking for a place to explore the talents of the late Nina Simone, then 1965's I Put a Spell On You is a great place to dip your toes - particular if you want to start with her more pop oriented sides.
The set features a truly eclectic mixture including stabs at jazz (the instrumental "Blues On Purpose"), R&B (the title track), French chanson ("Ne Me Quitte Pas") and a number of show tunes.

Johnny Cash (1932–2003) was a legendary singer-songwriter whose deep voice and storytelling made him one of the most influential figures in American music.
