This record is a tribute to one of the greatest funk and soul singers of all time: James Brown, also known as “The Godfather of Soul.” Undoubtedly, he was a true icon of African-American music in the 1960s and 70s.

As the leader of bands like The Famous Flames and The J.B.’s, Brown was renowned for his electrifying energy on stage.

This song moves between soul and reggae, keeping the pulse of both genres alive. It features a heavy groove full of rhythmic and melodic arrangements, with strings as the main source of color and a vocal performance charged with power and charisma.

Finally, the lyrics have been adapted to better reflect our current reality, while preserving the spirit of homage and renewal.

World Party was a musical group, predominantly the solo project of its sole consistent member, the songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Karl Wallinger. Wallinger started the band in 1986 in London after leaving the Waterboys.

Featuring the #2 most downloaded/ streamed hit Is It Like Today?, small limited runs of each World Party album (5 total) will be pressed on white vinyl, with the run marketed as “The White Albums”, cheekily referring to Karl’s re-recording of The Beatles and his fans eternal quest to hear them.

Magnus Carlson and The Moon Ray Quintet join forces for a new album of inspired vocal jazz versions of some of their favourite music. Carlson is known as the vocalist of Weeping Willows, and The Moon Ray Quintet features members of top Swedish jazz acts Oddjob, Goran Kajfes Tropiques, La La Lars, etc. Together they form arrangements that capture the beauty of each song while bringing something fresh to the table. The Moon Ray Quintet was formed in 2009 around singer Magnus Carlson during a break from the band Weeping Willows which had been his musical habitat for over a decade. In the artistic vacuum he experienced then, he met jazz musician and producer Goran Kajfes in a bar. The two gentlemen had crossed paths musically before although this moment resulted in ideas that would lead Magnus career in a whole new direction. Also, it give birth to a brand new band consisting of a number of highly sought-after jazz musicians.

Chris Reifert & Danny Coralles began Abscess after their infamous gore metal band Autopsy disbanded in the mid 90's (before resurrecting in 2009). Chris started his career with the highly influential extreme metal band, Death. The line-up was completed by Clint Bower (Guitar/vocals), with Joe Trevisano joining on bass for the band's later releases. In October 2009, Abscess descended upon the famous Fantasy Studios, CA, to record the follow- up to their 2007 Tyrant Syndicate album, 'Horrorhammer', with engineer Adam Munoz. 'Dawn Of Inhumanity' was released in 2010, leading the listener on an unrivalled nightmare of raw experimental extremity, whilst also including special guest vocal appearances by the Nocturno Culto & Fenriz of Darkthrone. 'Dawn of Inhumanity' was to be the swansong release from Abscess, leaving a legacy of twisted, dirty punk/ death without limits !

Based on Denis Johnson's beloved novella, Train Dreams is the moving portrait of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly-changing America of the early 20th Century. The Netflix film features the music of Bryce Dessner, who blends classical influences with a modern sensibility. Dessner has been a member of the successful rock band The National for years. In the past years he becomes more and more known for scoring contemporary films, such as C'mon C'mon, Sing, Sing and The Two Popes. He cast off his old skin, fundamentally altering his studies, homeland, and life, thereby charting a new future. Recorded at Sound on Sound Studios in Montclair, New Jersey, in January, 2024, 'Ancestral' was influenced, in part, by O'Gallagher's PhD studies into the music of John Coltrane, and reunites the versatile reeds player with guitarist Ben Monder while, notably, features the first-ever recorded collaboration between master drummers Andrew Cyrille and Billy Hart. "Basically, my PhD (available on O'Gallagher's website) is an analysis where I transcribed all of Trane's solos, spelling out what he does on his late recordings 'Interstellar Space' and 'Stellar Regions'. And it shows that free music is not free, not the way people think it is.

Trane was definitely thinking about organization in those records. This research definitely gave me ideas about how to be freer within the systems that I had developed, and how to perceive them in a more organic way." O'Gallagher's latest recording marks a significant artistic evolution, following a period of considerable personal change. After leaving Brooklyn, New York, he and his wife relocated to the UK before ultimately settling in Lisbon, Portugal. This journey, coupled with dedicated study, profoundly shaped his new music. O'Gallagher, Monder, Cyrille, Hart, and Coltrane: a potent brew. In an album consisting largely of first takes, O'Gallagher's compositions vary from through- composed pieces to skeletal charts to full- blown group compositions/ improvisations.

Working with elite keys player Ross Stanley (steadily making ripples on the world stage through his work with legends like Maceo Parker, and more recently with Robben Ford), guitarist Nigel Price says: "I've never heard Ross play a bad note, and he absolutely played out of his skin on this record." Joel Barford is one of the most exciting and vibrant young drummers on the scene today. He relishes the space and freedom of the organ trio format, which is totally evident on this new recording.

Six of the nine pieces are original Price compositions, confirming his strength as a writer, especially for this tight, powerful unit. A relaxed recording session brought out the best in these three master musicians, and the result is an exciting collection of captivating music. Nigel Price is acknowledged as one of the foremost UK exponents of jazz guitar. He has played on more than 60 albums including eight as a leader, spent 10 years with acid jazz outfit The Filthy Six, was a member of James Taylor's band, JTQ, for three years (with whom he recorded five albums) and performed with the legendary David Axelrod. Price has worked tirelessly to organise his own tours, with epic tours he's organised for the Nigel Price Organ Trio becoming the stuff of legend.

TWINS from Dresden, Leipzig, and Berlin present their second album in a particularly antiquated format: the LP in the truest sense of the word. Eight songs that are actually one. Without noticeable boundaries. Musically fragmentary, yet consistent and coherent. An album from which no song can be easily extracted; at least not without partially losing its actual effect in the process of separation. Drawing from her constant searching for her own unique sound she filters her love of rhythm and groove through her Nordic sensibility to create an accessible, compelling blend of excitement and introspection. Growing up on the island of Saaremaa in her native Estonia, Britta Virves was a keen piano student playing a strictly classical repertoire. A chance encounter introduced her to jazz: "I wanted to learn guitar. So I went to my teacher Tit Paulus, and he told me to stay with piano, and introduced me to Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans - my mind was blown - a new world opened up." Britta immersed herself in the music and her talent soon attracted attention.

Moving to Sweden to further her studies, she was soon touring Europe with the acclaimed Norrbotten Big Band, under the direction of Joakim Milder, working closely with featured guest vocalist Genevieve Artadi and accompanying Artadi on a duo tour opening for Louis Cole. Each tune on the album draws inspiration from an aspect of Britta's own life. "Simple Things" has the directness of a pop song married to the depth of jazz, as Genevieve Artadi's ethereal vocals float over an insistent backbeat that supports limpid depths of harmony.Other tracks include "Bravery", whoch showcases the subtlety and dynamic control of the rhythm team and is one of Britta's favorite tracks on the album - "I feel it's like a big waterfall that's rushing down and making its path just by flowing naturally." By contrast, "Chances" plays with a neatly delivered set of accents that tie the roots effortlessly

Chris Stussy ‘A Glimmer Of Hope’ EP in now being re-issued due to demand on LTD edition transparent red vinyl.

Amsterdam based producer and DJ Chris Stussy has become one of the most eminent figures in the contemporary house scene of the Netherlands and across the globe over the past 10 years, racking up releases on the likes of Eastenderz, Moscow, PIV, Contstant Sound and most recently his own Up The Stuss imprint.

Leading the release is ‘Central Frenzy’, laid out across six and a half minutes with skippy percussion, a snaking bass groove, intricate synth sequences and sweeping vocal chants. ‘Riva De Biasio’ follows and tips the focus over to airy atmospherics a jazz-tinged bass groove and squelchy acid licks atop swinging drums.

‘Deviant Shadow’ opens the flip-side and merges an amalgamation of expansive dub chords and bouncy sub bass tones with a robust 4/4 rhythm. Lastly to round things out is title-cut ‘A Glimmer Of Hope’, wrapping up the release on a deeper tip courtesy of ethereal pad swells, metallic synth licks and shuffled drums.
