It was quite unexpected to see the very prolific and talended Pieter Kock featuring on Macadam Mambo - which is usualy used to new-comers - as he has released a lot in the past 2 years on very nice labels like RIO, Meakusma or Moonwalk X. But, the demos that he sent were so good that there was no question about doing something. And with a lot of possibilities, to prepare a double album that is now composed of 15 quality tracks for 1h20 of music... What vibes are in here! It’s heavy, loudy, loopy, mental, smokey, and always surprising. Pieter has is very own universe, and is without doubt one of the most interesting electronic musician at the moment.

Should we ask you to give chance to this opus, and tell you you won’t regret it ? We don’t think we need to do so... J

Canadian go-slow master Eddie C is back with more of his sumptuous and sensuous grooves on the magnificent Funkyjaws Music. This new 12" kicks off with the emotionally intense and gospel-laced vocal sounds of 'Jesus Calling' with a passionate pastor lighting up the airways. 'Show Me The Way' is a more paired down sound this time with a raw soul edge and nice dusty drums, then 'Superior Disco' brings some lavish string stabs and funky basslines to some killer instrumental grooves. Drumsauw returns to DCLTD for the second time this year with 4 new tracks off his new EP 'Empire.' The title track 'Empire' is a thrumming blend of high speed percussion keeps up techno pressure, counterpointed by a soulful female vocal intoning with Middle Eastern sounds giving a melodic element. Followed by 'Cycles,' a demanding percussion like hammer blows races along, while spacey horns with doppler FX and dark, plangent synth tremolo arps bring an otherworldly, sinister vibe in a huge breakdown/drop. Next comes 'Collision,' rampant, bounding beats, loud rattling backbeat, with a robotic spoken female vocal riff changing pace, slowing in breakdowns before the racing tempo reasserts itself. Soul Jazz Records’ new collection, ‘Electro Throwdown - Sci-Fi Inter-Planetary Electro Attack on Planet Earth 1982-89’, is a journey into the outer reaches of electro, a galactic roller-coaster ride of turbo-charged sci-fi grooveology.
The album is comprised of mainly private-press and independent label electro jams of the highest calibre (with some as rare as space ships landing on Mars) all created in the 1980s, at a time when a vocoder, a Roland TR-808 drum machine and a groove was all that was needed to get the party started.
With a few notable exceptions (Michael Jonzun’s Jonzun Crew and The Packman) the album features mainly under-the-radar killer tracks from a host of one-off artists and back-room electronic pioneers – including Pretty Tony, Planet Detroit (James McCauley, aka Maggotron) and Rich Cason – who together helped shape the sound of electro across the USA from Miami to New York, Los Angeles and beyond during the 1980s.
This album is released on super-loud double vinyl, packaged in a gatefold sleeve complete with full sleeve notes (from Derek Walmsley of The Wire), plus download code and digital.

Up next is 'Modulate', a collaborative force of the highest order between Sean & long-time friend Black Sonix. Expertly fuzzying the lines across Deep, Soulful & House is somewhat of a speciality for the duo respectively and there’s bags of all 3 intertwined throughout alongside a hefty sprinkling of sun-kissed, Latino-inspired pianos.

'Still Standing Here' kicks things off on the B-side and begin in March 2022 as vocalist Madeeha recorded an accapella vocal idea in a phone voice message, quietly singing into her phone to avoid waking the neighbours. She sent the idea to drum & bass producer from Bristol, DJ Mixjah, who then approached friend Sean McCabe with the idea. Together they produced a hypnotic afro-tinged soulful backing track to fit with the voice message, with an intention to re-record it in a studio environment. Sean and Mixjah soon realised that the music they had created blended perfectly with the sincerity, intimacy & rawness of Madeeha's heartfelt performance in the original voice message and decided to stick with it. A firm fave for Atjazz, Crackazat , DJ Spen & Emmaculate.

Wrapping things up is 'You Don’t Know', a slick & energetic dancefloor bubbler from London based producer/DJ ‘David Bailey’ and Canadian soulful songstress ‘MissFly’. David Bailey is a firm favourite amongst the London house music community. He’s produced standout releases on labels such as Idris Elba's 7wallace, Makin Moves, Good Vibrations Music, Rhemi Music & Unquantize. MissFly is known for her soulful serenades and ability to write songs 'on the fly' in the studio. She has carved out an impressive discography on soulful house nuggets such as '1972,' 'Wanna Love You' and 'Thankful'

Produced by Nicolas Duvoisin on his label, this new vinyl-only edition may not leave your turntables for a while. On the A-Side "Fused (Original Mix)" is a perfect combination of loud beats, a heavy bass line and repetitive sounds, and when NTFO tackles the remix it's to bring its melodic touch.

On the B-side, "Stickers Men (Original Mix)" speeds up the BPM with a catchy rhythm while Nima Gorji delivers a more tortured remix of this track.

Once upon a time on planet -M-E-L-M-A-K- two teenagers visiting
their grand parents at their village compound were blissfully sleeping
late in the morning when a LOUD BANG!!! made them jump off their
beds. The bewilderment quickly grew into confusion of how was this
possible and then into respect. It appeared to be a soviet era polish
made vacuum tube TV set thrown out the window of the 2nd floor of
the house. Grandfather was doing the spring cleaning of the house,
obviously, the Balkan way – almost meeting the criteria to qualify for
Valhalla! The old cathode ray tube usually being under pressure as a
technology were famous to make a loud violent and deeply sounding
burst when broken that it reminded us a heavy drum machine and the
almost perfect and most brutal and deep and powerful bass drum we
have ever heard. So, us… being techno freaks by that time and
fascinated by the idea of techno music inspired and recreating the
heavy industry and machinery in an auricular way – we took a field
recorder, found another old TV set of the make and…. threw it out the
window… while recording all the sounds coming out of the impact ?
Later dissected and re-looped and re-worked through sampling here’s
a record that’s been years overdue in the making.
